Variety will present its Power of Women event, in partnership with Lifetime, in London for the first time on June 3. Honorees Emilia Clarke, Emma Corrin, Cynthia Erivo, Hannah Waddingham and Suki Waterhouse will each be featured on separate covers of the accompanying Variety issue. As with previous Power of Women events in Los Angeles, New York, and Nashville, each honoree will highlight a charity of their choice, and Variety will make a donation to each selected organization.
This year’s honorees include Clarke, best known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in “Game of Thrones,” for which she received four Primetime Emmy nominations and several Critics’ Choice Awards, and is celebrating her SameYou charity for brain injury recovery; Corrin, the first non-binary honoree to be a part of Power of Women, who portrayed Diana, Princess of Wales, in the fourth season of “The Crown,” earning a Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award, and is celebrating War Child, a foundation dedicated to improve the wellbeing of children living in armed conflict; Emmy, Tony, 2x Grammy Award-winning and 3x Academy Award-nominated Erivo, who recently starred as Elphaba Thropp in the Golden Globe-nominated “Wicked: For Good” (2025) and received Academy Award nominations for leading roles in the award winning “Harriet” (2019), “Genius: Aretha” (2021) and “Wicked” (2024), and will highlight The Shameless Fund, which raises cash through global brand collaborations to power up international, national and grassroots non-profits, to benefit LGBTQ+ causes; Waddingham, who will be hosting SNL UK this Saturday, and will next be seen in Prime Video’s new “Ride or Die” and in the fourth season of Apple TV’s “Ted Lasso,” for which she won an Emmy and Two Critics Choice Awards (Golden Globe and Actor Award Nominations), as well as has been nominated for two Bafta TV Awards and Three Olivier Awards, and will be representing Make-A-Wish UK; and the critically acclaimed indie pop artist Waterhouse, who is set to release her new album “Loveland” in July, followed by her headlining tour and is representing Facing the World, which fights for children with facial disfigurement.
In addition to the honorees, Variety will publish its Women’s Impact Report: London, recognizing the most important and influential women in the UK in entertainment and media. All women on the Impact List will be invited to the June 3 event.
“As we expand our signature live events, London is a natural choice for the next Power of Women series,” said Variety’s Co-President and Publisher Dea Lawrence. “We thank our partners at Lifetime for collaborating with us to bring this influential event to London.”
“As the founding sponsor of Variety’s Power of Women, we are incredibly proud to bring this celebration to London for the very first time to honor five truly remarkable individuals,” said Paul Buccieri, President & Chairman, A+E Global Media. “There is no better moment to highlight these leaders; their work and dedication continue to make a profound impact and are an inspiration to us all. Each of the honorees exemplifies what can be achieved when we come together with a shared purpose, and we are privileged to celebrate their achievements.”
Lifetime is the Presenting Partner of this year’s event. Trinny London will be providing exclusive, curated gift bags to all honorees and guests at the event, featuring a variety of their best-selling makeup and skin products.
