Tim Curry will return in an expanded role in “Stream 2: Sudden Death.”
The sequel is being produced by Fuzz on the Lens Productions, the team behind “Terrifier 2,” “Terrifier 3” and “Screamboat.” The screenplay was written by “Impractical Jokers” star Brian “Q” Quinn and longtime “Impractical Jokers” producer Joe Imburgio. Michael Leavy, who oversaw the first film, directs.
Curry appeared briefly in “Stream,” but is set to play a more integral role in the sequel. Returning cast members include David Howard Thornton (“Terrifier”) and Damien Maffei (“The Strangers: Prey at Night”). “Stream 2” will also feature the return of original Art the Clown actor Mike Giannelli, who is coming out of retirement for the film.
Curry’s film credits include “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” “Clue,” and “Congo.” On TV, he played Pennywise in the miniseries of Stephen King’s “It.”
“Tim Curry is someone who has inspired generations of horror fans and filmmakers alike,” said Leavy. “From the beginning, we envisioned his character as part of a much larger story within the ‘Stream’ universe. The first film only scratched the surface, and we’re excited to bring him back in a bigger role that audiences will really respond to.”
“Having the opportunity to work with Tim Curry was already surreal, but knowing where this story was headed made it even more special,” said Jason Leavy, a producer on “Stream 2.” “His appearance in the original film was designed to plant the seeds for something bigger, and ‘Stream 2: Sudden Death’ finally allows us to start pulling back the curtain on a much larger scale.”
Released in 2024, “Stream” blended traditional slasher elements and practical gore with contemporary themes surrounding technology and voyeurism. It is currently available for free on Tubi and Amazon Prime Video, or on DVD and Blu-ray, as well as other major platforms.
Additional casting and production announcements are expected in the coming months.
