‘The Walking Dead: Aftermath’ Free-to-Play Roguelite Game Launching From AMC, Ares Interactive (Gaming News Roundup)

Ares Interactive and AMC Networks have unveiled “The Walking Dead: Aftermath,” a new free-to-play roguelite set in the world of “The Walking Dead.” The game is slated to launch this summer on iOS and Android, with additional platforms to be announced.

Developed by Ares’ Swift Games studio, known for “Heroes vs Hordes,” the title blends fast-paced roguelite combat with survival mechanics and base-building elements. Players will take control of fan-favorite characters including Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon and Michonne as they battle walker hordes, hostile enemies and boss encounters.

Campaign missions will revisit familiar locations from the series such as Hershel’s Farm, Woodbury and Alexandria. As players progress, they will gather supplies, upgrade survivors and navigate increasingly dangerous scenarios, with each run emphasizing adaptability and replayability.

“At Ares Interactive, we’re building games with the quality and staying power to earn players’ time and attention,” said company president Mike DeLaet in a statement. “‘The Walking Dead: Aftermath’ combines Swift Games’ strengths in action, progression, and replayability with the intensity and survival drama that has made “The Walking Dead” an enduring franchise. AMC’s trust in our team speaks to the strength of what we’re building at Ares.”

Clayton Neuman, VP of Games & Franchise at AMC, said the project aims to capture both the tension and excitement of the series. “’The Walking Dead: Aftermath’ is easy to pick up, impossible to put down, and we can’t wait for people to play it,” he said.

Additional details, including character reveals and pre-registration timing, are expected in the coming weeks.
