“The Housekeeper,” the upcoming romance fictionalizing the inspiration behind Daphne du Maurier’s iconic novel “Rebecca,” has now wrapped production, with producers revealing a first look from the film, billed as a a “tale of forbidden love, obsession, and a household where the past refuses to let go.”
From multi-award-winning director Sir Richard Eyre (“The Children Act,” “Notes on a Scandal”), “The Housekeeper” stars two-time Oscar and four-time BAFTA winner Sir Anthony Hopkins (“The Father,” “The Silence of the Lambs”), BAFTA winner and Oscar nominee Helena Bonham Carter (“The Crown,” “One Life”), BAFTA and Golden Globe nominee Caitríona Balfe (“Belfast,” “Ford v Ferrari”) and rising star Emma Laird (“The Brutalist,” “28 Years Later”). Filming took place at Knebworth House, on the Cornish coast, and at Leavesden Studios.

“For me this film has the ideal combination of art, sex and death,” said Eyres. “It was a complete joy to be working with Anthony Hopkins again — as a director you can’t get luckier than that.”
Added Balfe says: “To have been a part of this very special film was a creative and personal highlight. Working alongside Anthony, Helena and Emma on Rose’s beautiful script, guided by the brilliant Richard Eyre is an experience I will treasure always.”
