Christina Aguilera continues her European vacation and pops bottles and dances on a boat

Christina Aguilera is living her best life in Italy. Summer might be over, but the “Drive Me Crazy” singer is still soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the ocean. On Tuesday, the pop icon shared a gallery of photos and videos from a recent yacht trip in Portofino, where she popped bottles, danced on the boat, and enjoyed time with her fiancé Matthew Rutler and a couple of friends.

The first slide was Aguilera dancing to Slayyyter’s “DANCE…” on the stern of the boat in an all-white fit. She showed off her incredible moves while whipping her blonde ponytail around.

She finished the video with a hilarious video of her legs up and wide open as the boat’s wake created a NSFW illusion.

Aguilara’s been posting from Europe since September 21, when she was in Monaco. She took the stage at the 20th Anniversary Gala of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation on September 18, 2026, and spent a few days there before heading to Italy.

She’s been sharing updates from her trip, and one thing has been constant in the comments – fans begging her to drop another album. “Drop a new album with this vibes,” someone wrote on her recent post. “WHERE’S THE MUSIC?????” and “release new songs! We don’t need an entire album, just some songs,” are among some of the comments on her posts.

Others have defended her, saying she’s living her best life. “Guys, stop asking her for an album! y’all gonna stop streaming after 2 weeks as you did with Liberation, and she does not need the stress,” someone wrote. “She’s given us enough; I love seeing she’s happy and enjoying her life.”

On another post, someone wrote, “Would I love a new album? Yes! But I cannot blame her for living her best life! She has worked hard enough! Enjoy yourself, mom, and come back when it feels right for you.”

But Aguilera has already confirmed music is on its way. While speaking to the Mirror in August, she explained she’s juggling motherhood and her career. “It’s all brewing between motherhood and everything,” she said. “When I’m in album mode and when I want to record, I literally can’t have other distractions”

“I have some incredible ideas that are coming to life, and a documentary that’s been in the works coincided with the album. I’m very excited,” she added.

The last time she released music was  “My Favorite Things” and “Someday at Christmas” in 2025 for her project Christmas in Paris. Prior to that was her 2023 single “Learning to Fly,” and her last album was Aguilera in 2022.

Tom Cruise reveals what Princess Diana was like, and the royals she reminds him of

Tom Cruise has shared many red carpets with British royals over the years, but he still thinks about one evening in 1992. Asked about Princess Diana in an interview with the French magazine 2’s 20h30 le dimanche, Cruise described her as a “brilliant and intelligent woman,” reports PEOPLE.

Then he reached for a very modern comparison: “She was like William and Kate: approachable, down-to-earth.”

The question was inevitable. Days earlier, Cruise welcomed the Prince and Princess of Wales to the world premiere of Digger at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, a black-tie night that doubled as the 73rd Royal Film Performance in support of the Film and TV Charity.

Directed by Mexican filmmaker and Oscar winner Alejandro González Iñárritu, the film casts Cruise as outrageous oil tycoon Digger Rockwell. It opens in theaters this October 2. Since that London kickoff, Cruise’s European press tour has been running at full throttle, and the royal memories have been flowing right in.

    A premiere, then and now

Cruise met Diana under circumstances almost identical to the ones that brought him face-to-face with the Prince and Princess of Wales. In 1992, he met her at the premiere of “Far and Away,” Ron Howard’s romantic adventure drama starring himself and his then-wife Nicole Kidman.

Their connection didn’t end on that red carpet. In 1997, Cruise was among the mourners at Diana’s funeral at Westminster Abbey, once again at Kidman’s side. The two were part of a group of Hollywood figures that included Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. Cruise, who’s spent years living in England throughout his life, had turned 35 that summer. Prince William was 15.

Fate keeps bringing them back together, helped along by the fact that Cruise remains at the top of the industry. In May 2022, William and Kate, then the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, joined him at the UK premiere of “Top Gun: Maverick.”

    From awkward to effortless

Back in 2022, Cruise’s greeting with Kate went viral for the then Duchess of Cambridge’s apparent discomfort with the actor’s enthusiasm. In footage from that premiere, she seemed surprised by his firm handshakes and shaking, moving her clutch from hand to hand several times as they climbed the stairs, as if to put a physical barrier between them.

Four years later, the mood was different. At the Digger premiere, Cruise and Kate’s rapport came naturally, with him offering her help walking down the stairs.

Miss Bolivia Valeria Mena reveals plan after Miss Universe and how her grandmother inspired her social project

Only a couple of months remain until one of the most anticipated days of Valeria Mena’s life. Bolivia’s representative at Miss Universe is preparing to take the international stage, and she couldn’t be more excited about what lies ahead.

Valeria was only 15 when she participated in her first beauty pageant. Now, at 24, the Oruro native is preparing to live an experience many aspiring beauty queens dream about, which is representing her country at Miss Universe.

In an interview with ¡HOLA! Américas, Valeria opened up about her journey to the competition, the personal experiences that shaped her social work and a lesser-known passion that has helped her navigate some of the most difficult moments in her life.

“I’m very excited and grateful to have this opportunity to represent my entire country on one of the world’s most important beauty platforms,” Valeria shared.

She is also looking forward to discovering Puerto Rico, which will host this year’s Miss Universe pageant, and meeting her fellow contestants. The 75th edition of the competition will take place on November 24 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Although Valeria discovered the pageant world as a teenager, she decided to prioritize her education before pursuing the crown.

She holds a degree in Business Administration as well as a degree in Fashion Design, Patternmaking and Dressmaking. She has also studied Commercial Strategy and Innovation and Engineering and Technology Project Management.

Beyond her academic accomplishments and pageant preparation, Valeria has devoted herself to a cause that is deeply personal. Her social initiative, Latidos Dorados, or “Golden Heartbeats,” supports older adults by focusing on their physical and mental well-being while also providing recreational activities.

The inspiration behind the project comes from two of the most important women in her life: her grandmothers.

Valeria was only 15 when she participated in her first beauty pageant.
What do you consider your greatest strengths in this competition?

My greatest strengths will always be my commitment and the authenticity with which I try to live my everyday life, beyond the crown or the sash I wear.

I believe Valeria is a very committed woman who is going to give it her all. And through everything I give, I want to share my purpose, my voice, and the social work I have been doing.

When did you decide you wanted to enter the world of beauty pageants?

The story of how I decided to participate in beauty pageants goes back to when I was very young. When I was 15, I participated in my first pageant, and it was the only one I competed in before this.

That was when I fell in love with pageants, but I wanted to become a well-rounded and highly prepared woman and earn my degree first.

Once I had accomplished that, I said, “I think this is my moment.” I have prepared my entire life for this. I was able to represent my department first and now, thank God, my country.

Has there been a Latina beauty queen who has inspired you?

Yes. I think I’ve learned a little from every beauty queen I’ve had the opportunity to discover through pageants because these platforms allow us to get to know them.

One of the most recent women to inspire me greatly, because of her story and the way she has made an impact on society and her community, is Sheynnis Palacios.

I think she is a clear example of how perseverance and commitment can take you far.

Miss Universe 2023 Sheynnis Palacios, during The 73rd Miss Universe Competition
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced throughout this journey?

Getting to know myself completely and being able to identify my weaknesses, but despite them, looking at myself in the mirror and knowing that I’m ready, knowing my worth and what I have to offer the universe.

Obviously, analyzing yourself isn’t an easy task. Sometimes it involves moments when we’re going to feel sad or think that we don’t fit in.

But those are also the moments when we realize that our value lies in those differences, in not being the same as everyone else while still having the ability to shine.

What message do you want to bring to the Miss Universe platform?

I believe all beauty queens have a voice and a message that we stand for on these platforms and international stages. Mine will always be about keeping alive the authenticity that characterizes women.

We are very sensitive beings. I consider myself a very sensitive person and someone who loves life, but I know that within that sensitivity lies my greatest strength: the ability to face life with a great deal of love.

Above all, I want to show love to the people I connect with so they also feel capable of continuing to fight for their dreams and discovering everything they can accomplish if they believe in themselves.

How Valeria Mena’s grandmothers inspired Latidos Dorados

Can you tell us more about your social work?

My social project is Latidos Dorados. I work with senior citizens to help give them more dignified lives and create balance in their physical and mental well-being, as well as through recreational activities, so they don’t feel alone or abandoned.

For Miss Universe, what I want to present is Legado, or “Legacy,” which is a way of telling their stories, giving them a voice, and preserving the life lessons they have to share with us.

What inspired you to choose this cause?

The truth is that I’m very close to my grandmothers, and I believe they have been two of the fundamental pillars in my development as a person.

Seeing how society often forgets about this part of our population has always affected me deeply, whether it was seeing an elderly person alone on the street or visiting nursing homes.

And the reality is that many of them, at least in Bolivia, don’t have families. In 80% of nursing homes, the people living there have no family.

Coming face-to-face with this reality and having both the ability and the voice to help change it felt like an opportunity I couldn’t waste.

What advice did your grandmothers give you when they learned you wanted to compete in Miss Universe?

One of my grandmothers left me with the life lesson that everything happens for a reason and that the only thing we need to do is face life with joy and a smile.

My other grandmother taught me the faith I now have in God and the Virgin Mary. When we place ourselves in their hands and do things with love, I believe everything is possible, and paths open up for us.

We are the ones who then have to embrace those opportunities with gratitude and hope.

How Miss Bolivia handles criticism on social media

In the world of beauty pageants, criticism and hate are common, especially on social media. How have you dealt with it, and what advice would you give younger generations?

Ever since I entered the media and became a public figure, my life has changed quite a bit, and I’ve had to become much stronger.

Sometimes it’s easy to say that we shouldn’t pay attention to negative comments, but when you’re the one experiencing them, it becomes a little more complicated.

But where does strength come from? Where does our true human value lie?

In empathy. I think empathy is something we should develop and practice much more: putting ourselves in someone else’s shoes and understanding that hatred and criticism don’t get us anywhere.

Constructive criticism, of course, is different, and I’m always grateful for it. That’s what I try to focus on.

I try to shift my attention so that those people who don’t believe in me, and who don’t even know me, may one day have the opportunity to see everything I’m capable of.

Could Valeria Mena pursue television after Miss Universe?

Valeria’s ambitions may not end when she steps off the Miss Universe stage. Like other beauty queens who have transitioned into television, music and hosting, she is open to exploring opportunities in entertainment.

Many former beauty queens have gone into music, television or hosting after competing in pageants. Have you considered that possibility?

Actually, yes. The day I did my media tour at Telemundo, I was talking about this with my entire team and my organization.

I really loved the work they were doing, and I would love to one day be part of a world and an organization like that.

I love talking and connecting with people, so I’m definitely not ruling it out.

Also, as I mentioned, I’m a very sensitive person and someone who loves life. I also love writing, and I hope to have the opportunity to publish my first book of poetry soon. It will be something I’ll feel very proud to share.

The deeply personal story behind Valeria Mena’s poetry

Valeria’s love of poetry began when she was a child, but writing eventually became much more than a creative outlet. After losing her father, it became a way for her to process grief and transform a day that once felt painfully empty into an opportunity for reflection.

Tell us more about your passion for poetry, and share something about yourself that not many people know.

Ever since I was little, I loved reciting poetry. I started by performing and reciting poems, and that eventually led me to enjoy writing them as well.

Writing allows me to express things beyond what I’m able to say when I’m talking to someone. Being able to sit alone with my thoughts and put them down on paper is priceless to me. I think it’s the place where I’m able to release everything I’m feeling.

Something many people may not know about me is that Sundays bring me a lot of inspiration to relax and write. They’re my favorite days for writing because of something very personal involving my dad.

Before he passed away, we used to do many activities together on Sundays. After he died, Sundays began to feel very empty for me.

So I took that as an opportunity to start writing and to pour out everything I was carrying inside through my words. That’s when I began to enjoy writing even more and truly fell in love with it.

Los Angeles was always one of the major stops on the schedule, with SoFi Stadium initially hosting concerts on September 25 and 26. Demand eventually led to additional dates, including another SoFi Stadium performance scheduled for November.

The show combines two extensive catalogs that stretch across decades of R&B.

Usher has been delivering hits since the 1990s, while Brown emerged as one of the genre’s biggest stars in the 2000s. Their tour features both artists performing their own material while occasionally coming together, turning the concert into a lengthy showcase of songs familiar to multiple generations of R&B fans.

While Chris Brown and Usher commanded the stage, Bryant and Monica’s appearance together offered another glimpse into their enduring friendship. The two women have been close for years, and Monica has previously been publicly supportive of Bryant and her family.

Their relationship has surfaced during both celebratory and deeply difficult moments. Monica was among the friends who supported Bryant following the deaths of Kobe Bryant and their 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, in January 2020.

SoFi Stadium is also familiar territory for Bryant.

In August 2023, she attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour at the Inglewood stadium with daughters Natalia, Bianka and Capri. The night produced an especially memorable moment when Swift invited Bianka to the front of the stage during “22,” gave her the signature hat associated with the performance, and embraced her.

Dolly Parton’s estate fight goes against ‘everything Dolly stood for,’ says insider

Dolly Parton died in late August. It’s been a moment that has rattled the entertainment industry, inspiring many tributes to her career, music, and social legacy.

A blip in all of this has been the drama surrounding her estate, which recently fired Bryan Seaver, Parton’s nephew and long-term head of security. It’s resulted in an escalating legal issue that has shocked onlookers and Nashville residents.

Following Parton‘s death, Seaver was terminated from his position, with the estate accusing him of making threatening comments towards Parton’s business associates.

Her business associates work for She’s Alive LLC, a business that Parton arranged before her death to protect her professional and business interests. The company is operated by her longtime manager, Danny Nozell.

The news has shaken Nashville, a city that’s been mourning Parton for the past month. “That anyone would want to abuse her memory or take advantage of a family and community in grief is despicable and the antithesis of everything Dolly stood for,” said a source to PEOPLE.

Court documentation shows that different lawyers and members involved with Parton’s estate quit after Seaver threatened them.

Seaver has denied the allegations. “I’ve never threatened anyone,” he said to NBC News. “They are my friends and my brothers and colleagues.”

In the case of the Parton family, many of them have come forward to stand up for Seaver. Dolly’s sisters Freida and Stella shared a statement on Facebook, sharing that there was no feud in the family.

“No one among the Parton/Owens family is fighting over Dolly’s estate,” wrote Freida. “We all love Bryan, just as we all love each other.”

Seaver is the son of Dolly’s eldest sister, Cassie. He’s served as Dolly’s head of security for the past 11 years and has been involved in many of Parton’s events, including having a brief appearance on her TV music film “A Smoky Mountain Christmas.”

He initially shared the news of Dolly’s death through an Instagram video, revealing that she had entrusted him with delivering the news to the world. He also shared that he’d taken over the head of security position from Dolly Parton’s father, Larry.

“This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago before I fully absorbed it as a future reality,” he said in the clip.

The iconic Hermès bag is one of the hardest accessories to get your hands on, with waitlists and price tags standing between shoppers and their dream bag.

In a video shared online, Kardashian is seen hesitating before signing the red Birkin bag, holding onto the pen carefully. Afterward, she signs her name with a golden marker.

“This feels illegal,” Kardashian said. “Oh, my God. This feels blasphemous.” After she signed it, she exchanged a hug with the fan.

It’s a celebratory moment for Kardashian, who has built SKIMS into one of the biggest shapewear and loungewear brands in the world, finding success internationally.

The moment has sparked plenty of discussion in the comments, from shock to great jokes. “This is so so so insane !!! I don’t think I like anyone to sign my croc Birkin,” wrote someone. “Oh wait I don’t have a croc.”

“It’s funny cause they played her,” wrote a second person. “They’re gonna try to sell that s*** for more expensive because she signed it.”

In a recent interview, Kardashian has opened up about her sons and the challenges of becoming a sports parent. “My boys wanted to play baseball, but it was at a phase where they wanted to try everything and every single sport,” she told PEOPLE.

Like many parents, Kardashian has had to balance her kids’ activities with a packed schedule, all while running multiple businesses. She revealed that baseball wasn’t her favorite sport because it was so time-consuming. “I remember pulling up to the baseball field and like three hours in I’m like, ‘Alright, I think that other sport was way better for you,” she continued.

“So like, so much respect to baseball parents,” Kim added. “Like, if you know, you know. It’s long hours.”

Kim shares two sons with Kanye West, Saint and Psalm. It appears that the boys have fallen in love with soccer, with them attending numerous soccer games and even meeting the best soccer player in the world, Lionel Messi. Kim has often shared photos of her boys’ love for soccer on social media, proving she’s fully embraced her role as a sports mom.

The couple also has two daughters, North and Chicago. While most of their kids are too young to know what they want with their lives, North is following in her father’s footsteps as a singer and performer.  Between SKIMS, her TV career, her much-discussed relationship with Lewis Hamilton, and raising four busy kids, it’s safe to say Kim has her hands full.

Who is Dalvin La Melodía? The Bachata star taking over Puerto Rico

If the name Dalvin La Melodía suddenly seems to be everywhere in Puerto Rico, there is a reason. The 23-year-old Dominican bachata singer has gone from a rising artist with a growing digital following to one of the most talked-about new names in Latin music.

His recent run in Puerto Rico has been particularly striking. After selling out six shows at San Juan’s Coca-Cola Music Hall in September 2026, Dalvin quickly graduated to the much larger Coliseo de Puerto Rico, better known as the Choliseo. Meanwhile, he has joined Puerto Rican superstar Luis Fonsi for a new bachata remix of “Me Despido.”

Before becoming a professional singer, Dalvin worked jobs including delivering groceries, shining shoes, and working as a motoconcho driver. Music, however, had been part of his life since childhood. He began singing at church alongside his father, an experience that helped develop the voice he would eventually bring to contemporary bachata.

His professional career accelerated in early 2024 after connecting with guitarist and producer Michael Quevedo, known as Mikey Touch. That relationship helped Dalvin record his early material and expand his reach on digital platforms.

Songs including “Mi Reina,” “Tesoro Perdido,” “Chiquilla Bonita,” “Duele,” “Amnesia,” and “Alma Rota” have since helped establish him as part of bachata’s younger generation. His version of “Chiquilla Bonita,” originally associated with Marco Antonio Solís, became an especially important song in his rise. By September 2026, its music video had surpassed 49 million YouTube views.

Dalvin’s breakthrough was also recognized in his home country when he won Revelación del Año at Premios Soberano 2026.

Why is Dalvin La Melodía viral in Puerto Rico?

Puerto Rico has become one of the biggest chapters of Dalvin’s career so far. Before his September concerts, the singer said he began realizing how strongly his music was connecting on the island when people sent him videos showing Puerto Ricans playing his songs in cars and on motorcycles. What followed went far beyond a viral song.

Dalvin originally expected his Puerto Rico debut might take place in a nightclub. Instead, demand expanded his engagement at the Coca-Cola Music Hall to six concerts on September 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, and 19, 2026. All six ultimately sold out, setting a record at the venue.

Approximately 60% to 70% of the audience was young, according to one of the show’s producers, suggesting Dalvin is reaching listeners who may normally gravitate toward reggaeton and other urban genres rather than traditional bachata.

That crossover appeal may help explain why his rise in Puerto Rico has moved so quickly.

His Coca-Cola Music Hall shows also included appearances by familiar Puerto Rican music names. Farruko and Melina León joined Dalvin during his second performance, while Gisselle, Randy “Nota Loca” and iZaak appeared during the sixth.

Dalvin La Melodía and Luis Fonsi release “Me Despido” remix

Dalvin’s Puerto Rico momentum now includes a major collaboration with Luis Fonsi.

On September 25, 2026, Fonsi and Dalvin released “Me Despido (Remix),” transforming Fonsi’s song through a collaboration with the young Dominican bachatero.

The timing is significant for both artists. Fonsi is approaching three decades in Latin pop, while Dalvin is still in the early stages of his professional career. The collaboration places a newcomer enjoying a rapid breakthrough alongside one of Puerto Rico’s most internationally recognized singers.

The original “Me Despido” had already gained radio traction in multiple Latin American markets before the remix arrived.

Dalvin La Melodía’s upcoming concerts in 2026

Puerto Rico isn’t his only destination.

Among Dalvin’s upcoming U.S. dates listed by Ticketmaster are New York’s United Palace on October 2, Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut on October 8, Santander Arena in Reading, Pennsylvania, on October 9, Atlanta on October 10, Orlando’s Kia Center on October 15 and Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, on October 16. Canadian performances are listed for Montreal on October 30 and Toronto on October 31. A Charlotte concert is scheduled for December 5.

Dalvin La Melodía’s Puerto Rico concerts at the Choliseo

The biggest development, however, is back in Puerto Rico.

After the six sold-out Coca-Cola Music Hall concerts, Dalvin announced “La Otra” at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico for January 2027. Demand quickly multiplied the original date into a multi-night run.

    As of September 29, Ticketera lists performances on January 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23 and 24, 2027, all at 8 p.m. The ticketing page currently marks January 14, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24 as sold out, while January 21 is listed with tickets.

That is an extraordinary jump for an artist whose first major Puerto Rico concert run happened only months earlier.

Is Victoria Beckham making new music? Star captured in recording studio with Cruz Beckham

Victoria Beckham may have swapped pop stardom for fashion and beauty, but Posh Spice just made an unexpected return to a very familiar place. A new photo shared by her son Cruz Beckham has sparked speculation that Victoria could be recording music again.

The image shows the former Spice Girls star standing in front of a studio microphone, apparently reading from her phone as Cruz looks toward the camera. Cruz added a teasing caption to the September 28 Instagram post: “yeah we got posh back in the studio.”

That was more than enough to get fans asking the obvious question: Is Victoria Beckham making new music? For now, there is no confirmation of a Victoria Beckham single, solo album, or full-scale return to music.

Victoria Beckham Returns to the Recording Studio With Cruz

The photo shared by Cruz shows Victoria wearing headphones and positioned at a microphone inside the studio. She appears to be looking at lyrics or other material on her phone while recording.

Victoria joined in on the fun rather than explaining exactly what was happening. She responded to Cruz’s Instagram post with laughing emojis, leaving the mystery intact. One possibility is that she was simply contributing vocals to something Cruz is working on.

Cruz, 21, has been developing his own career as a musician and performs with his band The Breakers. He released his six-track debut EP, Wear & Tear, in August 2026 after building momentum through live performances and earlier releases.

That makes a mother-and-son collaboration a plausible explanation for the studio photo, although neither Victoria nor Cruz has confirmed what they recorded.

Could Victoria Beckham Release New Music?

The big question is whether this is simply a fun studio appearance or the first hint of something bigger.

Victoria’s music career has largely been on hold for more than two decades. After achieving global fame as Posh Spice in the Spice Girls, she pursued a solo career and released her self-titled debut album in 2001. She later shifted her professional focus toward fashion and beauty.

She has occasionally returned to the stage with the Spice Girls. Victoria participated in the group’s 2007-2008 reunion tour and joined Mel B, Melanie C, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell-Horner for their performance at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. She did not participate in the Spice Girls’ 2019 reunion tour.

So seeing her in front of a studio microphone in 2026 is unusual enough to attract attention.

Victoria Beckham Has Not Completely Ruled Out Singing Again

Interestingly, Victoria has previously left the door slightly open to performing again.

During an October 2025 appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, she discussed the possibility of appearing with the Spice Girls again. Victoria said the idea was tempting but explained that committing to a world tour would be difficult because of her work commitments. She also expressed affection for the idea of returning to the stage with her former bandmates.

Those comments did not amount to a comeback announcement, but they showed that Victoria was not entirely dismissing the possibility of singing with the group again.

The latest recording-studio appearance adds a new detail to that conversation.

The Timing Comes 30 Years After “Wannabe”

There is another reason the photo feels significant. In 2026, the Spice Girls marked 30 years since the release of their breakthrough single “Wannabe,” which arrived in 1996 and helped turn Victoria, Mel B, Melanie C, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell-Horner into global pop stars.

The anniversary has naturally renewed attention around the group and questions about whether all five members could reunite again.

Cruz Beckham Is Building His Own Music Career

The studio appearance also highlights an interesting role reversal within the Beckham family. Victoria was once the internationally famous musician. Now Cruz is the Beckham actively establishing himself as a recording artist.

His debut EP Wear & Tear arrived in August, and he has spent 2026 performing live with The Breakers. Reports say his recent schedule has included appearances at Reading and Leeds festivals as well as shows in the U.S.

The EP also contains a particularly fitting family connection: a cover of the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe.”

Penélope Cruz stars as Nené Romero in the award-winning Spanish-language drama La Bola Negra.

Released on Monday, September 28, the new preview offers a deeper look at the ambitious drama, which spans nearly a century of Spanish history to tell the interconnected stories of three generations of men.

Their experiences unfold in different eras, but their lives are linked through desire, pain, love and the emotional inheritance passed from one generation to the next.

The international ensemble includes Spanish music sensation Guitarricadelafuente in his feature acting debut, alongside ‘Elite’ star Miguel Bernardeau, Carlos González, Milo Quifes, Lola Dueñas and Julio Torres. Penélope Cruz and eight-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close complete the star-studded cast.

Known collectively as Los Javis, Calvo and Ambrossi directed and produced the film and co-wrote its screenplay with playwright Alberto Conejero.

    WATCH IT HERE:

The story draws inspiration from Federico García Lorca’s unfinished work La bola negra and Conejero’s acclaimed play La piedra oscura. Although Lorca is not the central character, the poet’s life, legacy and absence are felt throughout the film.

Set partly against the upheaval of the Spanish Civil War, the expansive drama examines how queer men experienced love, repression and silence in different periods of Spanish history. It also considers how wounds that were never openly discussed can continue to shape families decades later.

    From Cannes to Toronto:

The official trailer arrives as ‘La Bola Negra’ continues an extraordinary run on the international festival circuit.

Calvo and Ambrossi received the Best Director Award at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, sharing the honor with Polish filmmaker Paweł Pawlikowski for Fatherland.

The recognition marked a significant international achievement for the Spanish filmmakers behind Paquita Salas, Veneno and La Mesías.

The movie subsequently captured the prestigious People’s Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. Selected by festival audiences rather than a jury, the award has historically been considered a major indicator of future awards-season success.

‘La Bola Negra’ became the first non-English-language film to win Toronto’s top audience prize since the Lebanese drama Where Do We Go Now? in 2011.

Previous recipients of the award include eventual Best Picture Oscar winners 12 Years a Slave, Green Book and Nomadland. The Toronto victory adds to the growing awards buzz surrounding the Spanish-language epic and its filmmakers.
