“Nobody Wants This” actress Tovah Feldshuh is speaking out again amid disagreements between the show’s cast on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Feldshuh, who plays Rabbi Noah Roklov’s (Adam Brody) mother Bina on the Netflix Jewish rom-com, denied that tensions are rising between the cast and creator.
“Tensions are NOT RISING. Profound differences of opinion are,” Feldshuh wrote in a recent Threads post in response to a user who wrote that “tensions are emerging” on the set of the hit show. “Please do not conflate the two—And none of it will be brought to the set. I deeply enjoy filming NWT and hope we are chosen to go on for a fourth season.”
Brody publicly shared his support for a free Palestine in a September GQ interview. “Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide,” he said. “Put me down as wanting a free Palestine. It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago.”
His take was met with disagreement from Feldshuh and show creator Erin Foster, who said it was “complicated.”
“I think our work environment, our set is very similar to dinner tables around the world where people are having debate and discussion and disagreeing,” Foster added. “And, you know, while I love Adam, I also disagree with him, and that’s OK.”
Feldshuh previously told The New York Post that “to accuse the Jewish people of genocide is wild. It’s right out of Hitler’s playbook. You take the victim, and you make the victim the perpetrator.”
“Nobody Wants This” has yet to be renewed for a fourth season, though Foster has said she has “more story to tell.” The show has notably avoided touching on the Israel-Palestine conflict so far.
