The Americana Honors & Awards nominees for 2026 have been announced, with Brandi Carlile, Margo Price, I’m With Her, S.G. Goodman, Mon Rovia and Ken Pomeroy all scoring two nominations each across the kudos’ five categories.
In the artist of the year category, for solo artists, Carlile and Price are nominated along with Charley Crockett, Molly Tuttle and Jesse Welles. (Only Crockett is returning as a nominee from 2025; Sierra Ferrell picked up the prize last year.)
In the duo/group of the year division, I’m With Her will contend alongside Flatland Cavalry, Mumford & Sons, Turnpike Troubadours and Gillian Welch & David Rawlings. (Welch & Rawlings won the award last year.)
The album of the year category is a contest between Price’s “Hard Headed Woman,” Goodman’s “Planting by the Signs,” Pomeroy’s “Cruel Joke,” Tyler Childers’ “Snipe Hunter” and Kathleen Edwards’ “Billionaire.”
Song of the year is between Carlile’s “Returning to Myself,” Goodman’s “Snapping Turtle,” I’m With Her’s “Wild and Clear and Blue,” Mon Rovia’s “Heavy Foot” and Lucinda Williams’ “The World Gone Wrong.” (Last year, the award went to I’m With Her for their song “Ancient Light.”)
The emerging act of the year category has Pomeroy and Mon Rovia up against Boy Golden, Crowe Boys and Kashus Culpepper.
As most other music awards programs expand their categories year after year, the Americanas continue to stick to a slim five, making anything resembling a “sweep” an unlikely thing. At least as much attention is given annually to the “honors” part of the show, which sees lifetime achievement kudos being given out to veteran performers in various categories. Those honorees will be revealed at a later date.
Winners will be announced at the 25th annual Americana Honors & Awards on Sept. 16 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The awards show is the centerpiece event of AmericanaFest, a conference and music festival taking place around Nashville on Sept. 15-19.
