Casa Amor bombshell Alannah Keyser has been pulled from Love Island USA season eight after a video of her allegedly using a racial slur resurfaced on social media.
Peacock has confirmed that Keyser will not longer be on Love Island USA after Thursday night’s episode (which is the 20th episode of the series). Keyser does appear in episode 20, and her exit was briefly addressed on the show.
The Hollywood Reporter understands that the video and social media posts that surfaced online appear to have not been shared publicly until after her appearance on Love Island USA, meaning they were not accessible at any time during the vetting process.
Keyser, a student from Miami, made her grande entrance on the hit Peacock reality dating show during episode 17 on Sunday night, walking into Casa Amor as one of the new bombshells, alongside five other girls.
She is the second castmember to be removed from season eight after Vasana Montgomery was removed from the show ahead of the June 2 premiere when social media posts emerged of her using the N-word. Montgomery later apologized on Instagram, writing in a statement, “In those videos, I used a racial slur. There is no excuse for it, and I am deeply sorry. I am embarrassed and disappointed by my words. I take full responsibility for what I said and understand why it has hurt and upset people.”
Last year, two Islanders were also removed during season seven. Yulissa Escobar was kicked off the show at the beginning of the season after clips of her using the N-word resurfaced online, and a few weeks later, Cierra Ortega was dropped after receiving backlash for a social media post that showed her using a racial slur.
Despite receiving backlash over some of the castmembers in recent years, Love Island USA has continued to be one of Peacock’s top shows. According to the streamer, the first three days of season eight pulled in 824 million viewing minutes, a record for any Peacock original series over that length of time.
New episodes, hosted by Ariana Madix and narrated by Iain Stirling, drop Thursdays through Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, with Love Island Aftersun (hosted by Ciara Miller and Tefi Pessoa) airing every Saturday.
