‘Are We About to Die?’: Host Oz Pearlman Was Right Behind Trump When a Shooter Stormed the White House Correspondents’ Dinner

At the exact moment dozens of armed federal agents swarmed into the ballroom of the Washington Hilton, Oz Pearlman was revealing to Donald Trump the name of Karoline Leavitt’s unborn daughter.

The mentalist was perhaps moments away from climbing inside the mind of the president on Saturday night when a 31-year-old teacher from Los Angeles stormed toward the White House Correspondents’ Dinner with two guns and fired at law enforcement. Nobody was killed, and the suspect is in custody.

“My son was mostly concerned with whether he had an autographed Pokémon card from Donald Trump,” Pearlman tells Variety from the back of an Uber, moments after landing in New York from Washington, D.C. His usually peppy voice is hoarse. (“Long night,” he says.)

Before the annual, bipartisan celebration began, Pearlman met Trump and the First Lady backstage, where Trump expressed enthusiasm for his act. This year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner marked the first attended by Trump during either of his terms, and also the first to be headlined by a mentalist.

“He shook my hand and told me he’s heard how great I am, and that he’s very excited and he’s staying for my show,” Pearlman says. “That was a big checkmark because that was never a sure thing. Right away, I texted my wife, ‘Great news. The show is gonna be awesome.’”

Out in the ballroom, right after the Pledge of Allegiance kicked off the event, Pearlman immediately began working the room. “I didn’t take one bite of salad,” he says. “I got to work.” He eventually made his way up to the dais, impressing JD Vance with a couple of magic tricks. (Pearlman, who has become Hollywood’s favorite mentalist, is known to guess people’s ATM pins and predict the outcome of seemingly random events.)

Vance encouraged Pearlman to perform for the POTUS, and CBS anchor Weijia Jiang helped bring the mentalist into Trump’s conversation with Press Sec. Leavitt and Melania Trump. Backstage, Leavitt had challenged Pearlman to guess the name of her baby, who is due next week. Wanting to save the trick for Trump, Pearlman finally began “piecing together” the name, and he is seen in news coverage writing down “Vivian” on a sheet of notebook paper. Just as Pearlman ripped out the page to show it to Leavitt, Melania and the president, a crisis consumed the ballroom of the D.C. hotel.

“You could see the reaction to the trick, where everybody was like, ‘Whoa!’ But at that exact same moment, we saw dozens of people with guns — a SWAT team and military — running into the center of the room as people started getting under their tables,” Pearlman recalls. He thought there was about to be an explosion, so he immediately dropped to the floor as two Secret Service agents “shoved” Trump to the ground.

“He lands right next to me,” Pearlman says of the president. “We’re looking eye to eye from a foot apart, and I’m thinking, Oh no, are we about to die?”

    That’s when he heard gunshots.

Pearlman says Trump seemed “startled” that he was on the ground, but he was “very aware.” “I can’t tell you if he was scared,” Pearlman says. “I have to assume there was fear in all of us, because it was a very serious situation.” About two seconds later, the president was shuffled out of the room.

“I was thinking, Did he get shot? Everything slowed down. I couldn’t figure out what happened,” Pearlman says. He began army-crawling toward the door backstage, where he stood for several minutes protected by federal agents. “There was no real communication,” he says. “We heard someone was dead, and then we heard there was a shooter, and then we heard they were trying to see if there were any other shooters.”

Backstage, everyone was crying and shaking, Pearlman says. “Your body gets flooded with adrenaline. You’re in full fight-or-flight.” Still, the shooter didn’t stop the mentalist and his wife and manager, Elisa, from attending an after-party.

“It was bittersweet,” Pearlman says of the evening. “The sweet thing is nothing really happened. Nobody was hurt. But the bitter part is that it was going to be an amazing night. I had some really unique and exceptional things planned that would have hit strong. I’m sad to not have had that moment, but given the circumstances, that’s a very secondary concern.”

Pearlman declined to tease the tricks he had planned for the president, as Trump has promised to attend a rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner to be set within the next 30 days. Pearlman says he has been invited back, and “if I can make myself available, I would love to be there.”

For now, Pearlman is reading the “insane” internet conspiracy theories and laughing off the dark jokes on social media.

“If I had been killed, people would forever have said, ‘Why didn’t you see that coming?’” Pearlman says. “Like, that’s the worst way for a mentalist to die, because the memes are just too good.”

Analyst Who Called Bitcoin’s Top Correctly Now Predicting The Bottom

Bitcoin has spent April staging a recovery from its March lows, briefly climbing back above $79,000. However, not everyone is convinced of the rebound, and some analysts believe the move is only a mid-bear-market rally before a deeper correction.

One such analyst is one that previously predicted a coming peak in July 2025. Now, the same analyst is predicting how far the Bitcoin price still has to fall before it puts in a true bottom.

Analyst Uses Previous Top Model To Predict Bitcoin Bottom

Crypto analyst Killa made a cycle-top prediction of $121,362 back in June 2025. This call was made months before Bitcoin reached its all-time high of $126,100 in October 2025 and it was off by only about 3.9%. Now, using the same analytical framework that generated that call, Killa has turned the model toward the downside.

The principle behind the projection is that each successive Bitcoin market cycle produces a smaller multiple relative to the prior cycle’s bottom, reflecting the maturation of the asset. His data across five cycles shows the high-to-bottom multiple declining from 15.50x in the first cycle to 7.64x, then 6.26x, and then 4.47x in Cycle 4, where Bitcoin peaked at $69,800 before bottoming at $15,600.

Applying the same rate of reduction, Killa projects the current cycle’s multiple at 3.25x, dividing the $126,100 cycle top to arrive at a base bottom target of $38,800.

To account for the 5% variance that offset his top prediction, he added in two upside scenarios of $40,740 and $42,680. Even at the top of that range, Bitcoin would still be well below the $60,000 level that some market participants have cited as the correction bottom.

Bitcoin Price Chart. Source: @KillaXBT On X

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $78,015, meaning a move to $42,680 would still require a drop of about 45%, while a further drop to $38,800 would be close to a 50% correction from current prices.

BTCUSD currently trading at $78,004. Chart: TradingView

Three Years Up, One Year Down

Killa’s bottom projection finds support from a separate analysis by analyst CryptoBullet, who approached the question of a bottom from a symmetry standpoint.

CryptoBullet’s weekly Bitcoin chart characterized the current cycle as a five-wave Elliott Wave advance beginning in late 2022, with Wave 5 completing around the $126,000 high in October 2025. The subsequent correction, labeled as a W-X-Y corrective structure in blue, projects a final Wave Y leg down below $50,000 to $45,000.

Bitcoin Weekly Chart. Source: @CryptoBullet1 On X

According to the analyst, three years of upward price action from the November 2022 bottom through the 2025 peak cannot reasonably be corrected in less than a year of decline. The current bear phase is shown extending into the second half of 2026 before the bottom structure can be completed.

  • Crypto News Today: Bitcoin Stabilizes at $78,000 Despite Geopolitical Stalemate

Crypto News Today: Bitcoin Stabilizes at $78,000 Despite Geopolitical Stalemate

Bitcoin price successfully reclaimed the $78,000 level within the last 24 hours. While broader sentiment remains cautious, major tokens suggest a robust underlying demand even in the face of international diplomatic friction.

    Crypto News Today

As of April 26, 2026, the market is showing a clear “flight to quality.”

    • Bitcoin ($BTC): Trading at $78,000, up from the mid-$77k range seen earlier.
    • Ethereum ($ETH): Stabilizing at $2,330, tracking Bitcoin’s recovery closely.
    • Solana ($SOL): Holding firm at $86, despite being one of the more volatile assets in recent weeks.

    Geopolitical Impact on Digital Assets

In the context of modern finance, “geopolitical impact” refers to how international conflicts and diplomatic negotiations influence investor behavior. While Bitcoin was once considered purely a risk-on asset, it is increasingly behaving like a neutral reserve. As noted by analysts, Bitcoin has managed to hold stability even as other cryptocurrencies face a “phase of indecision” caused by global uncertainty.

US-Iran Tensions and the $344 Million Seizure

The most significant driver of the crypto news today is the escalating financial pressure from the Trump administration on Tehran. In a major move, the U.S. Treasury recently froze approximately $344 million in cryptocurrency allegedly linked to Iranian financial lifelines.

Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent confirmed that the agency is targeting multiple wallets to cut off financial avenues used to bypass international sanctions. This news has created a dual-effect:

    • Short-term Fear: Initial concerns over regulatory crackdowns on “unhosted” wallets.
    • Long-term Stability: A market realization that Bitcoin remains a transparent and trackable ledger, which may actually invite further institutional adoption under clear enforcement.

Crypto Analysis: Resistance and Support Levels

Despite the geopolitical stalemate, Bitcoin’s technical structure remains intact. The RSI (Relative Strength Index) is currently hovering slightly above 50, indicating that bullish momentum has not fully disappeared.

    • $BTC Key Resistance: The $84,000 zone remains the most relevant level for a major bullish breakout.
    • $BTC Immediate Support: $76,000 is the near-term barrier; staying above this level is crucial for maintaining the current recovery.

World News Integration: The “Stalemate Premium”

Traditional markets are currently pricing in a “stalemate premium” as the US and Iran remain at an impasse. While oil prices and the Nasdaq have seen fluctuations, $Bitcoin has capitalized on its status as a “borderless” asset. The cancellation of high-profile diplomatic trips has not triggered the massive sell-off many feared, largely because institutional Bitcoin ETFs continue to see consistent, albeit smaller, inflows.

Bitcoin Sees Renewed Demand From US Institutional Players — What’s Changing?

According to an on-chain analyst, Bitcoin has been witnessing a shift in investor behavior in one of its major markets, the United States. This shift in its market dynamics, according to the market pundit, might be key to sustaining the flagship cryptocurrency’s ongoing rally.

Coinbase Premium Flips Positive Following Prolonged Weakness

In the 25th April post on X, Darkfost highlighted that the US institutional and professional investors are back in the Bitcoin market, with the price seemingly poised to climb further. The relevant indicator here is the Hourly Coinbase Premium metric.

For context, this metric tracks the hourly price difference between Bitcoin on Coinbase and Binance to indicate whether institutional-driven demand is pushing prices higher, as opposed to retail-driven markets. Importantly, the version of the Coinbase Premium Index being analyzed is volume-weighted.

This means that larger trades carry more influence in the calculation, helping to filter out market “noise.”

    Source: @Darkfost_Coc

Darkfost noted that the Coinbase Premium Index is moderately positive. However, what’s notable about the shift is that this trend towards the positive has been ongoing since the beginning of April — and, interestingly, it started after a prolonged period spent in negative territory.

In essence, this shift suggests that Bitcoin is trading at a higher price on Coinbase than on Binance. By extension, this trend often signals stronger institutional involvement, as Coinbase is typically preferred by US-based institutions and professional investors.

This is because, while Binance remains one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges globally, it is generally seen as more accessible to retail traders. Coinbase, on the other hand, has a reputation for catering to institutional clients and for offering regulatory clarity and infrastructure for large-scale investors. As such, Coinbase price premiums are often viewed as a means to gauge institutional sentiment.

Coinbase Premium Could Sustain $BTC Bullish Momentum

Darkfost further explained that this renewed buying pressure from US investors is coming at a critical time for the market. This is supported by historical data: rallies driven by institutional demand tend to be more stable than those driven mostly by retail speculation.

However, since the Coinbase Premium Index has yet to fully switch to an uptrend, it is advisable to watch for clear signs rather than randomly get tangled in the fray. As such, Darkfost mentioned that, instead of merely Bitcoin’s price, he would also be watching for the index’s further upside.

As of this writing, Bitcoin trades at $77,525, with CoinGecko data showing the premier cryptocurrency has barely moved on a daily basis.

Trump Shares What Happened in Moments After White House Correspondents’ Dinner Shooting in ’60 Minutes’ Interview

President Donald Trump sat down with Norah O’Donnell for an interview that’s set to air Sunday night on 60 Minutes to share his perspective of what happened in the moments after shots were fired at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

O’Donnell noted to Trump that the scened looked “chaotic” as Secret Service rushed to protect both the president and Vice President J.D. Vance on Saturday night.

“Well, what happened is — it was a little bit me,” Trump says in a clip shared Sunday. “I wanted to see what was happening, and I wasn’t making it that easy for ’em. I wanted to see what was going on. And by that time we started to realize maybe it was a bad problem, different kind of a problem, bad one. And different than what would be normal noise from a ballroom, which you hear all the time. I was surrounded by great people. And I probably made them act a little bit more slowly. I said, ‘Wait a minute, wait a minute. Lemme see. Wait a minute.’”

Asked to clarify what he meant, Trump said he started walking with the Secret Service and then they told him to “go down on the floor.” He said both he and First Lady Melania Trump complied.

The reason he was asked to “go down,” he said, was because he was “walking out pretty tall” and they wanted him protected.

    Watch the clip below.

The interview O’Donnell will be broadcast Sunday night on 60 Minutes, which airs at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and Paramount+.

As the event got under way Saturday night at the Washington Hilton, a gunman reportedly charged through a security checkpoint and into ballroom where the event was taking place armed with multiple weapons. He fired multiple shots before being subdued by authorities. He was later identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen.

In a press briefing, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro said Allen will be charged with using a firearm and assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon and that there will likely be “many more charges” to come.

Weijia Jiang, White House Correspondents Association president and CBS News’ senior White House correspondent, called the incident “harrowing.”

    Double-technicals late

Referees and players stepped in to separate Stephon Castle and Deni Avdija in the closing minutes after an and-one finish from Castle on the latter. It comes as San Antonio leads comfortably. Castle made the free throw after review, and starters were pulled out soon after with the game out of reach.

De’Aaron Fox is responsible for 10 straight San Antonio points, as the Spurs have flipped this game. The scoring run featured three unanswered buckets from Fox before he dished to Keldon Johnson for 3. Portland trailed by as many as 13 points in the run.

    Spurs reclaim lead

This sequence from Victor Wembanyama showcases how much of a difference maker he is. He skied for an alley-oop flush from Stephon Castle to give their team the lead in the final frame. On the next play, he scored another reverse lob.

Before the quarter break, Wemby had this slam off the offensive glass at the buzzer that tied the game.

Deni Avdija leads Portland with 21 points, while the Trail blazers have also received very timely baskets and playmaking from Jrue Holiday.

That didn’t take long! San Antonio opened the third quarter with a 13-0 scoring run to cut Portland’s lead to as low as four points.

    Spurs down 17 at half

It’s been a brilliant showing on both sides of the ball through two quarters for Portland, who leads San Antonio. 58-41 at intermission. The team has a double-digit rebounding advantage while shooting a higher percentage from the field than the Spurs. There’s a big discrepancy in free throws as well, with the Blazers making 11 in the first half compared to San Antonio’s three.

Victor Wembanyama looks healthy after clearing concussion protocol, but is only 4-of-12 from the floor. Stephon Castle and De’Aaron Fox are the team’s leading scorers with 10 apiece.

Portland leads by two after the first quarter, thanks to a balanced scoring effort. No Trail Blazer is in double figures, but seven different players are in the scoring column already.

Best of 7, now best of 3

It wasn’t pretty, but Toronto won a pivotal game 4 to avoid being on the brink of elimination. The theme of this game was the Raptors’ execution late in quarters, opposed to Cleveland’s. Toronto manufactured scoring runs at the end of the first half, third, and fourth quarters that ultimately swung the game.

Scottie Barnes (23 pts, 10 reb, 6 ast) was superb, while Collin Murray-Boyles (15 pts, 10 reb) added a double-double off the bench. RJ Barrett made big shots late, while Brandon Ingram matched Barnes with a game-high 23 points.

The series returns to Cleveland for game 5 on Wednesday.

    APRIL 26, 2026 / 2:55 ET

James Harden is the only Cleveland player in double figures with under 3:00 to play in the 3rd quarter. Evan Mobley found some success early in the third quarter but only has 6 points. Mobley, Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen have just 15 points combined so far.

The Cavaliers lead 56-53 with the final fram approaching.

    APRIL 26, 2026 / 2:20 ET

    Injury updates ⚠️

    According to NBA.com’s Jeff Zillgitt:

    • Donte DiVincenzo is expected to have surgery this afternoon on his ruptured right achilles tendon. The Villanova product started all 82 regular season games for Minnesota before suffering the non-contact injury in the opening moments of game 3 versus Denver.

Iran’s foreign minister leaves Pakistan, heads to Russia for more talks

Abbas Araghchi will speak with ‘senior officials’ in Moscow, Iran’s Foreign Ministry says.

Iran’s top diplomat, Abbas Araghchi, has left Islamabad for Moscow, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, as mediators hope to keep the prospect of more Tehran-Washington talks alive.

Araghchi sandwiched a trip to Muscat, Oman, in between visits to the Pakistani capital, leaving on Sunday to be in Moscow the following day. But there was no indication that direct talks between Iran and the United States would resume.

However, in a sign that indirect efforts were ongoing, the Fars news agency reported that Iran had transmitted “written messages” to the Americans via mediator Pakistan, which were “about some of the red lines of the Islamic Republic of Iran, including nuclear issues and the Strait of Hormuz”.

But the messages were not part of any negotiations, Fars said.

US President Donald Trump last week indefinitely extended the ceasefire that Washington and Tehran agreed to on April 7, which has largely halted the fighting that began with joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28.

But a permanent settlement remains elusive, and the economic shockwaves of the war continue to reverberate around the globe.

Iran has effectively blocked the vital Strait of Hormuz, cutting off vast quantities of oil, natural gas and fertiliser from the global market, and sending prices soaring. The US has imposed a blockade of Iranian ports in response.

There had been hopes for a new round of talks on Saturday, with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner due to visit Islamabad, but Trump later told Fox News he had scrapped the trip, saying there was no point “sitting around talking about nothing”.

On Sunday, Trump told the same channel: “I said, we’re not doing this any more. We have all the cards. If they want to talk, they can come to us, or they can call us. You know, there is a telephone. We have nice, secure lines”.

Asked earlier whether cancelling the trip meant a return to open hostilities, Trump said: “No, it doesn’t mean that.”

    Shuttle diplomacy

On Saturday, Araghchi met Pakistan’s military chief, Asim Munir, a key mediator, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar, before flying on to Muscat. He returned to Islamabad on Sunday.

In Russia, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said he would speak with “senior officials”.

Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Araghchi would visit Moscow, but did not say if he would meet President Vladimir Putin.

Amid the flurry of meetings, Araghchi signalled scepticism over Washington’s intentions, saying he had “yet to see if the US is truly serious about diplomacy”.

CFTC cuts 24% of its staff while insider-trading risks are growing in crypto, oil, and prediction markets

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is trying to chase insider trading across crypto, oil futures, and prediction markets while its own headcount is being carved down. The agency has lost 24% of its staff since Donald Trump returned to office, putting it at its lowest staffing level in 15 years.

Prediction markets now let traders bet real money on government raids, wars, elections, sports, celebrity events, Fed decisions, court fights, crypto policy, and almost every messy public event with a deadline.

The cuts happened under Caroline Pham, a Republican nominated by Biden and later promoted by Trump to acting chair.

CFTC cuts enforcement staff while insider-trading risks spread across prediction markets

A former senior CFTC official allegedly said the staffing cuts hit the wrong people. “There were cuts that were not exactly logical,” the former official said. “They targeted people who were experienced and well-regarded. Real enforcement lawyers were fired. And there was a major reduction in trial attorneys.”

Chairman Michael Selig, who was appointed under Trump, has said the agency is filling empty seats left after the Elon Musk-backed Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, pushed resignations across the federal workforce. “To the extent there are any gaps, we’re filling those gaps,” Michael said. “But thanks to our renewed focus on efficiency and bringing on new technologies, we are operating more effectively and efficiently than we ever have before.”

He also said, “There are no gaps in our ability to fulfill our mission.”

Michael has pointed to AI as one reason the smaller workforce can still function. He said the technology helps review public comments for prediction-market rules. Staffers can use Microsoft (MSFT) Copilot to draft memos, reports, and presentations. He also said software now helps process company applications that used to be handled through emails and manual checks. A recent CFTC report said applications from firms seeking approval for prediction-market exchanges are at record levels.

Lawmakers question Selig as crypto, oil, and political bets strain the agency

Michael asked Congress earlier this year to fund 108 enforcement workers, down from 140 filled positions in 2025, a 23% drop in the division that is supposed to catch market abuse. The agency’s Chicago office went from 20 enforcement lawyers to zero, according to CNN.

At Michael’s first hearing as CFTC chair, lawmakers from both parties pressed him on whether he needs more funding, more staff, or new laws to control prediction markets. Rep. Nikki Budzinski, an Illinois Democrat, was not sold on the staffing story. “I have deep concerns around the ability they’ll have to provide the proper oversight that taxpayers in this country deserve from the CFTC,” Nikki said. “He referred to efficiencies, which to me, is code for mass layoffs.”

Nikki has put forward a bipartisan bill that would stop executive branch political appointees, the president, lawmakers, their families, and other covered people from betting on government actions through prediction sites. Since Michael’s hearing, at least two more Democratic lawmakers have backed the bill.

Democrats also questioned Trump-linked ties to the sector. Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT) has announced plans for its own prediction platform. Donald Trump Jr. is a paid adviser to Kalshi and an investor in Polymarket, the two biggest names in the space.

The Trump administration cleared Polymarket last year to serve US customers, though its American site is not fully running yet.

Polymarket’s top rival, Kalshi, meanwhile, had to issue $2.2 million in refunds and now faces lawsuits after a disputed market tied to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed by the US and Israel during the war they started unprovoked. Kalshi also punished three congressional candidates after finding that they bet on their own races.

Prediction exchanges must police themselves first. Michael told lawmakers the companies are the “first line of defense” against insider trading. Once the CFTC approves an exchange, the company can certify that each market follows federal law.

The CFTC had 535 employees by February this year after layoffs, buyouts, and early retirements. Even if Congress approves Michael’s request for $410 million and 650 full-time jobs, the CFTC would still be smaller than it was during most of Trump’s first term.

The former CFTC official said the agency will have to pick which cases it can actually fight. “They’re going to have a lot of work to do, and they are going to have to triage,” the official said. “Some stuff will go unaddressed. They won’t be able to pursue as many matters as they would’ve at full strength.”

  • ‘Historical average’ could push Bitcoin bottom at $57K level: Analyst

The price of Bitcoin ($BTC) could bottom out at the $57,000 level in October 2026, despite rallying by more than 29% since the low of about $60,000 in February, according to Bitcoin investor and author Michael Terpin.

Terpin told Cointelegraph that his forecast is based on the “historical average” drawdown of about one year from a market cycle top, which was reached in October 2025 when $BTC surged to an all-time high above $126,000, to the cycle bottom.

Bitcoin’s price needs to reclaim the $100,000 level for the bull market to resume, which will likely occur when the price falls below the 200-week moving average, a dynamic and critical support level, he said. Terpin added:

“There’s certainly a chance of $100,000 this year, but unlikely. It would need to combine strong exchange-traded fund (ETF) buying with what Michael Saylor is already doing at Strategy, combined with an absence of liquidations from a sharp move down.”

The forecast comes as Bitcoin’s price hovers at about $77,987, and crypto assets continue to be pressured by volatile oil prices, the war in Iran and a lack of liquidity, as interest rates in the US remain unchanged.

Current Bitcoin rally might be a fake out, says analyst

Ahead of this week’s Federal Open Market Committee meeting (FOMC), 99.5% of traders expect no interest rate cut, according to the CME FedWatch Tool.

“Wednesday is (Jerome) Powell’s almost certain last FOMC meeting as Fed Chair. The rate decision is almost certainly a hold flat,” market analyst Nic Puckrin said. Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell’s term as head of the central bank ends next month.

The lack of “euphoria or interest” from crypto market investors amid the Bitcoin rally since February signals that investors view it as a limited rally, with a return to the downside expected, according to crypto market analyst Matthew Hyland.

“It does appear to me the larger expected consensus outcome for $BTC is another leg lower by October,” he said on Saturday. Bitcoin’s price could also fall to the $73,000 level in the short term, according to Cointelegraph analysts.

If the 21-week exponential moving average (EMA) continues to be a resistance zone for Bitcoin’s price, this could also force prices to retrace to about $65,710, according to Rekt Capital.

  • ‘Wicked’ Actress Marissa Bode Claims She Was “Denied Boarding a Flight Because I’m Disabled”

‘Wicked’ Actress Marissa Bode Claims She Was “Denied Boarding a Flight Because I’m Disabled”

Marissa Bode is calling out Southern Airways after she claims that she was denied boarding a flight because of her wheelchair, despite her manager checking with the company beforehand.

The Wicked actress, who played Nessarose on the big screen adaptations, took to TikTok on Thursday to share her frustrations, saying, “I was denied boarding a flight because I’m disabled. I wish that were clickbait. I wish that were false, but that is what happened.”

Bode explained that Southern Airways is “extremely, extremely small” and that she had to use the airline as her connecting flight due to limited options heading to her destination in a small Pennsylvania town.

While switching between flights, the actress said she was having trouble finding her virtual ticket before boarding the Southern Airways plane. Once she got to the gate, that’s when she asked two employees for assistance. However, they instead told her she wasn’t allowed to board due to being in a wheelchair.

“So I got to the gate, and I was like, ‘Hey, could you help me locate my boarding pass?’” Bode recounted of the interaction. “And the two people at the gate look at me, and they are like, ‘Can you stand?’ And I said, ‘No.’ And they said, ‘I’m sorry, but because of that, we’re going to have to deny you boarding.’ They proceeded to tell me all the planes within this airline have stairs to get on the plane. Wild. Never heard of that before.”

She continued, “Why are we once again waiting around for a disabled person to be present to even think about changing things or accommodating things. … And that’s exactly what I said to him. I was like, disabled people are not an afterthought. Why, knowing that disabled people exist, which y’all clearly often forget, do you choose not to update your planes? And I was like, ‘This is blatant segregation.’”

Bode even noted that her manager “literally called them, talked to them on the phone, asked [Southern Airways] if they could make that accommodation, and they fully assured [her manager], yes,” before booking the flight.

According to Southern Airlines’ current contract of carriage, “Customers must be able to ascend and descend several steps to board the aircraft. Our aircraft hold 28 or fewer passengers and therefore are not required under the Air Carrier Access Act (section 382.97) to provide mechanical lift devices for enplaning or deplaning.”

After Bode’s TikTok went viral, she shared in a follow-up video that the director of Southern Airways’s mobility department reached out to her over the incident.

“They called me,” she said. “The director was mortified. She was very apologetic, very understanding, which I really do appreciate. They are doing an internal look on things and how this happened, again because we did call ahead of time before booking, asking about the accommodation. They are also currently staying in contact with me in terms of how we can make it better in the future.”
