Lourdes Leon’s dad shares sweet birthday tribute with rare throwback photos

Lourdes Leon is celebrating a milestone birthday, and her dad, Carlos Leon, is marking the occasion with a special trip down memory lane. The actor, model, and former personal trainer took to social media to celebrate his daughter’s 30th birthday on October 14, sharing a touching video montage featuring throwback photos from over the years.

But there’s an extra sweet detail behind the birthday surprise. Carlos revealed that his 11-year-old son helped him put the photo slideshow together, making the tribute a family project.

For fans who have watched Lourdes grow up as the eldest daughter of Madonna, the birthday tribute is a reminder that behind the fashion campaigns, music releases, and high-profile appearances, she’s still dad’s little girl.

Carlos Leon Celebrates Lourdes Leon’s 30th Birthday With Throwback Photos

Turning 30 is a major milestone, and Carlos Leon found a personal way to celebrate his daughter.

Rather than simply posting a birthday message, he shared a video slideshow filled with photographs from the past, giving followers a glimpse into the memories he has collected as a father. The throwback pictures add a sentimental touch to the celebration, especially considering that Lourdes has spent much of her life in the public eye.

Born on October 14, 1996, Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon is the daughter of Madonna and Carlos Leon, who were in a relationship during the 1990s. Although her parents separated when she was young, Carlos has remained an important part of her family story.

Who Is Lourdes Leon’s Dad, Carlos Leon?

Carlos Leon is a Cuban-born actor and former personal trainer who became widely known during his relationship with Madonna.

The former couple welcomed Lourdes in October 1996, making the future model and musician Madonna’s first child.

Over the years, Carlos has maintained a comparatively private public profile, particularly when measured against Madonna’s global celebrity status. Lourdes, meanwhile, has grown into a recognizable figure in entertainment and fashion.

Although her famous parents helped make her a familiar name from birth, she has worked to establish an identity separate from their careers.

That independence has become a defining part of her public image.

Lourdes Leon Turns 30 After Building Her Own Fashion and Music Career

At 30, Lourdes Leon has developed a career that extends well beyond being Madonna’s daughter. The model has appeared on major fashion runways and worked with prominent designers and brands, including Versace, Marine Serre, and Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty.

She made her runway debut in 2018 at Gypsy Sport and has since become a regular presence at fashion events.  Lourdes has also pursued music under the stage name Lolahol, exploring an experimental sound that distinguishes her work from her mother’s pop catalog.

Her 2023 single “Spelling” is among the projects that have introduced audiences to her musical identity.

Despite the inevitable comparisons to Madonna, Lourdes has made it clear through her career choices that she’s interested in following her own creative instincts.

In June 2026, Madonna discussed her daughter’s reluctance to rely on her famous mother’s connections, explaining that Lourdes wants to avoid being perceived as someone taking advantage of family privilege.

The former wife of Elvis Presley celebrated Harper and Finley Lockwood’s 18th birthday on Wednesday, October 7, sharing a new photo of the sisters standing together by the ocean.

Both wore black, with Harper sporting brunette hair and Finley wearing her long hair in a platinum-blonde shade. “Happy birthday Harper & Finley,” Priscilla wrote over the photo.

The simple birthday tribute marked a rare public glimpse at Lisa Marie Presley’s youngest daughters, who have largely stayed out of the spotlight over the years.

The comments quickly turned into a family resemblance debate, with several people seeing different members of the Presley family in the now-18-year-old sisters.

“I can’t believe how much Harper favors you and how Finley looks like Lisa and a younger Elvis,” one person wrote, addressing Priscilla.

Another fan agreed, writing, “Wow! I haven’t really seen them ‘grown up,’ but they look like Priscilla and Lisa Marie!”

Someone else called out the family’s “strong Presley DNA,” while another simply wrote that the twins “look just like you and Lisa.”

Harper and Finley are the twin daughters of Lisa Marie and musician Michael Lockwood. The sisters were born in October 2008 and are Lisa Marie’s youngest children.

Lisa Marie also shared daughter Riley Keough with her first husband, Danny Keough, and son Benjamin Keough, who died in 2020.

Riley has continued her acting career since her mom’s passing

Lisa Marie died in January 2023 at age 54 after complications from a small bowel obstruction related to prior bariatric surgery. Her death left Priscilla without her only child and the twins without their mother while they were still teenagers.

They’ve since maintained their privacy, but in fall 2025, the sisters appeared with Priscilla on the cover of EQLuxe, marking their first public photoshoot with their grandmother. The magazine described the shoot as the twins’ first-ever public photoshoot, with the sisters posing alongside Priscilla in an equestrian-inspired spread.

Later that year, Priscilla shared a photo of her longtime friend Jerry Schilling, former sons-in-law Danny Keough, Lockwood, Riley, her newborn baby, and the twins.

Priscilla has spoken about how much the family has changed

The birthday post also comes months after Priscilla opened up about how much Lisa Marie’s death changed the family’s dynamic.

During a May 2026 speaking engagement in Las Vegas, Priscilla said Lisa Marie’s death had “separated” the family in some ways because the family no longer gathered for meals and spent time together in the same way.

She also acknowledged that Harper and Finley were now 18 and had their own lives. Her son, Navarone Garibaldi, pushed back on the idea of the family being separated, saying that while the twins are grown up with their own lives and boyfriends, he still felt like they were actually beginning to come closer together as they worked through their grief.

But her dress was only part of the transformation. A fresh haircut added another dimension to her glamorous evening look.

The couple posed together at London’s Natural History Museum in South Kensington, where their Clooney Foundation for Justice hosted the annual ceremony. With Amal in gold and George in a classic black tuxedo, their coordinated appearance offered an elegant take on evening dressing.

A gold gown with movement in every detail:

Amal’s Gucci gown featured a neckline that swept across the bust and rested just below her shoulders, framing her décolletage. Its fitted bodice defined the waist before continuing into a long, streamlined skirt, with rows of reflective embellishments creating a rich metallic finish.

Amal carried that golden glow through to her accessories, choosing metallic pointed-toe pumps that peeked beneath the hem. A sparkling clutch in a softer, silvery shade added contrast, while dangling earrings caught the light through her loose brunette waves.

George complemented her look with a black tuxedo, white shirt, black bow tie, and polished lace-up shoes. Posing arm in arm, the pair let the contrast between her luminous gown and his dark tailoring do the work.

The beauty update behind her golden glow:

Amal wore her highlighted brunette hair in loose waves with a side part. Hairstylist and makeup artist Dimitris Giannetos told Vogue he had cut it considerably shorter and added textured layers, describing the inspiration as “A combo of Sophia Loren meets Kate Moss.”

Her makeup echoed the gown with luminous skin, golden eye shimmer, and a softly defined nude lip. Giannetos used Charlotte Tilbury products to create the finish, balancing radiance with targeted powder.

A glamorous evening with a purpose:

Beyond the fashion, The Albies honors people who defend justice around the world, often at considerable personal risk. Now in its fifth year, the ceremony brought together guests including Brad Pitt, Laura Dern, Donatella Versace and Emma Thompson to celebrate the 2026 honorees.

Ben Affleck’s ‘Gone Girl’ frontal scene: Every time he (and Jennifer Garner) addressed it

Ben Affleck’s Gone Girl shower scene has been a topic of conversation for more than a decade, and Jennifer Garner had one of the best reactions to it. When the actress appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2014, she joked that audiences could thank her for her then-husband’s full-frontal moment.

It’s followed Affleck for years, and he has once again been asked to revisit the scene. For a brief moment, Affleck’s flaccid Affleck is in full view, and it quickly prompted prosthetic rumors. If you look at Reddit pages, there are commenters who are confident it’s fake.

But according to the Animals star, that’s all natural. “I wore no prosthesis,” Affleck told Variety in an interview published October 7, 2026. He revealed he’s only ever worn one in the film Hollywoodland. “It was a nose,” he said.

It’s a straightforward answer to a question that has followed the actor since David Fincher’s psychological thriller hit theaters in 2014. But Affleck has never exactly shied away from the subject. From his infamous “IMAX” joke to Garner’s reaction on daytime television, here’s what he has said about the scene over the years.

Affleck was already having fun with the conversation before Gone Girl even arrived in theaters. During a 2014 interview with MTV, he explained that Fincher wanted the movie to show the characters without the usual Hollywood polish.

“David said to me from the beginning, ‘This is a warts and all movie. It can have no vanity. You have to see the naked underbelly of this character,’” Affleck recalled. “There’s some brief, very brief nudity, I think.”

Then came the line that would follow him for years. “The penis is in there,” Affleck joked. “It costs extra. It’s IMAX penis! You’ve gotta pay fifteen bucks to see it in 3-D.”

He also pointed out that the set was freezing, adding another layer of humor to a scene that had already become a talking point during the film’s promotional run,

Garner, who was married to Affleck at the time, had her own take on the scene when she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in October 2014.

After DeGeneres joked about whether Affleck’s revealing moment might have helped Gone Girl open at No. 1, Garner played along.

“What I have to say is, ‘You’re welcome,’” she said. “I just try to consider myself a charitable person, and I wanted to give back. You give me so much, I wanted to give something back to all of you.”

Garner also explained that the couple hadn’t discussed the scene beforehand. According to her, Affleck told her afterward that Fincher had talked him into coming out of the shower. She responded with “Oh, cool. Well, I hope he had on a wide lens.”

Later in 2014, Affleck continued poking fun at his Gone Girl shower scene while accepting the film’s top award at the Hollywood Film Awards.

“There are a lot of people to thank, but first I want to take this opportunity to thank David Fincher for the way he treated me,” he said. “In particular, we had a shower scene in the movie, and David assured me – because trust is essential with directors and actors – ‘Listen, if we tilt down we’ll never go far enough to see anything.’”

Affleck then thanked Fincher for keeping the set cool, adding, “If you’re going to have one chance for America to see your junk, you want it to be cold.”

He credited David Fincher for making him comfortable with the scene in 2026

Affleck has also spoken about how much he valued working with Fincher. In a Letterboxd interview published October 6, 2026, the actor reflected on their time together. “Working with David was, like, the great privilege of my life,” Affleck said, praising Fincher as one of the greatest filmmakers ever to live,” he said.

The Air star said, “I was willing to do anything for him… like be naked.”

George Clooney speaks out After Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber’s Son Presley Dies at 27

George Clooney has spoken publicly about the heartbreaking death of Presley Gerber, the 27-year-old son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, describing the loss as one of the most devastating experiences for their close-knit circle of friends.

Presley reportedly died following a suspected drug overdose after suffering cardiac arrest at a Santa Monica sober-living facility on September 20.

Clooney Calls Presley’s Death Devastating for the Family

The 65-year-old actor addressed the tragedy while attending The Albies, an awards ceremony he hosted in London on Friday. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Clooney expressed his sympathy for the grieving family.

“Quite honestly, it’s one of the most devastating things that’s happened to our family,” he said, adding that the loss was equally painful for Presley’s relatives.

Clooney went on to describe the death of a loved one as one of the worst things a family can experience.

Following Presley’s passing, a source told the Daily Mail that Clooney was deeply affected by the news and was struggling with the tragedy.

Another insider told People that Clooney, his wife Amal, and several of their close friends had been taking turns staying with the Gerber family to ensure they were not left alone during the difficult period.

According to sources, George and Amal traveled to Los Angeles after learning of Presley’s death to offer support to his grieving relatives.

The couple reportedly helped with funeral arrangements and other matters as the family navigated the immediate aftermath of the loss.

Clooney has maintained a longstanding friendship with Crawford and Gerber, and his connection to the family extends to their children, Presley and his sister, Kaia Gerber.

The actor’s close relationship with the family has reportedly made the tragedy particularly difficult for him and his wife.

Clooney and Rande Gerber Share Business History

Clooney and Gerber have been friends for years and previously worked together on a successful business venture.

In 2013, the pair partnered with real estate developer Mike Meldman to launch Casamigos Tequila. The brand quickly gained popularity before being sold in 2017 in a deal valued at approximately $1 billion.

Their longstanding friendship has continued beyond their business partnership, with Clooney remaining close to Gerber and his family over the years.

Presley Gerber Filmed Himself Hours Before His Death

In the days following Presley’s death, footage reportedly showing his final hours emerged.

The video, obtained by TMZ, was filmed at Resolutions Living, a sober-living residence in Santa Monica, on the evening before his death.

Presley had reportedly checked into the facility only the night before he was found unresponsive following cardiac arrest on September 20.

In the footage, recorded at approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, he appeared to give a solo tour of the residence. He wore a white undershirt that revealed several prominent tattoos, along with a silver chain necklace and black-framed glasses.

His eyes appeared glassy in the recording, prompting concerns about his condition. During the video, he moved the camera around a bedroom and several other areas of the facility, apparently without anyone else present.

Reports Detail Presley’s Final Hours Before Entering Rehab

According to sources cited by TMZ, Presley had allegedly used drugs on Saturday afternoon and subsequently became worried that he was losing control of his substance use.

His sober coach reportedly contacted Resolutions Living to ask whether the facility could accommodate him. Sources familiar with the situation claimed the coach informed staff that Presley was under the influence when the request was made.

The facility’s admissions officer reportedly agreed to accept him.

According to the same reports, the sober coach had intended to take Presley to a rehabilitation center on the following Monday. In the meantime, he sought a temporary place where Presley could stay over the weekend and ultimately brought him to Resolutions Living.

Sources further alleged that Presley continued using drugs while at the sober-living residence. They speculated that he may have viewed the weekend as his last opportunity to use substances before beginning rehabilitation on Monday.

These accounts of Presley’s final hours have emerged as his family and friends mourn his death. The reported circumstances surrounding his passing have also drawn attention to the challenges he may have faced with substance use before the fatal incident.

  • Joaquina opens up about her Venezuelan roots, heartbreak and signature red cat-eye

Joaquina, the youngest-ever winner of the Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist, may be known for her emotional songwriting and signature red cat-eye, but the Venezuelan singer-songwriter says both came from a very personal place.

Joaquina performs “Ya no estoy” for the first time at the e.l.f. Mirror Mix event

With the help of CROING Creative and Digital Agency, the 22-year-old artist is entering a new chapter with “Ya no estoy,” her collaboration with e.l.f. Cosmetics for the brand’s Mirror Mix album, while also taking on a new role as one of the brand’s ambassadors.

For Joaquina, the partnership makes sense because music and makeup have been intertwined in her life for years. “I’ve always dreamt of working with a makeup brand,” she said during an interview with HOLA! at the Genius and e.l.f. event in Los Angeles.

She explained that she started making music around 13 or 14, which was also when she began discovering how much she loved makeup. “When it comes to expression, those two things go hand in hand for me.”

And while Mirror Mix is a brand project, Joaquina said she never felt like she was simply recording a song for a campaign, and the brand gave her creative freedom to write about whatever she was experiencing, and “Ya no estoy” was actually a song she had already started for the album she is currently making.

“I finished it, and I recorded it, and they loved it,” she said. “It just feels crazy, and I feel like the luckiest girl on the planet to be able to have an opportunity.”

The song ultimately became something much more personal than a typical brand collaboration. On “Ya no estoy,” Joaquina sings about choosing herself after losing herself in a relationship, with the song exploring independence, self-love, and learning to be comfortable alone.

Joaquina had to learn that love isn’t supposed to be everything

“Ya no estoy” feels personal because Joaquina wasn’t writing about some abstract idea of independence; she was writing from experience.

    Joaquina© JESSICA ALBANO
    Joaquina

The singer said one of the biggest lessons she’s taken from a past relationship is that building your entire life around another person can ultimately hurt both people involved.

“I feel like something that I’ve learned through that process is that sometimes when you build your life around the idea of love or the idea of someone, it just ends up hurting you and the other person more than anything,” she said.

While she thought the phrase “you have to love yourself before you can fully love someone else” sounded cliché, she realized it had some weight.

“I never thought that it was true until I felt so unhappy and felt like everything around me was crumbling just because this relationship was over,” she said. “I think that love should be an addition to your life and not the sole purpose of it,” she said.

Now, Joaquina is learning how to be her own company and work through her insecurities before she gives that part of herself to someone else again. Which is something most women probably can’t say they figured out by 22 years old.

She doesn’t leave her Venezuelan roots behind

Joaquina holds on to both of her identities

If there’s one thing Joaquina won’t separate from her music and identity- it’s Venezuela. She was born into a Venezuelan family and has lived in Miami since she was 6.

Growing up, she said her home remained deeply Venezuelan even as she built a life in the United States. Her parents played Venezuelan music, cooked Venezuelan food, and insisted that Joaquina and her sister speak Spanish so they wouldn’t lose their accents.

“Now that I look back, I’m really grateful that they did that,” she said.  “I just feel so lucky that I’m bilingual,” she said, calling it “such a privilege” that has opened doors for her.

    Joaquina© JESSICA ALBANO
    Joaquina

That upbringing left her with a complicated relationship with belonging. Joaquina said that as she’s gotten older, she’s sometimes felt “not American enough” and other times “not Venezuelan enough.”

Instead of choosing one side, however, she’s learned to let both exist. “These two loves, they don’t – they coexist in my heart,” she said. “They don’t have to compete.”

That bicultural identity is also intentionally present in “Ya no estoy.” The song incorporates the Venezuelan cuatro, while the lyrics and story reflect her experience of figuring out who she is and what she wants on her own terms.

Then the pandemic happened, and Joaquina was 15, stuck at home, attending school online and, as she described it, going through an insecure period where she felt like she didn’t quite fit in.

So she started experimenting. “I was literally like scavenging my mom’s makeup, like old makeup, you know, stealing stuff,” she joked.

She spent hours watching YouTube makeup tutorials and practicing on herself. That is essentially how she taught herself to do makeup, and eventually how she landed on the look that would become almost synonymous with her.

Joaquina remembered finding a colorful palette in her mom’s bathroom with red, orange, and blue shadows. Because she has large eyelids and wanted to emphasize her eyes, she started playing around with cat-eye shapes. After trying black and purple, she landed on red. “I just really liked it,” she said. “So I’ve just kept doing it since then.”

The look has since become part of her identity, with fans recreating the red cat-eye and even wearing it to her shows.

She still considers herself an “up-and-coming” artist

Joaquina became the youngest-ever winner of the Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2023 when she was 19

Joaquina is a Latin GRAMMY winner and eight-time nominee, has performed with Gustavo Dudamel and the New York Philharmonic at Radio City Music Hall, and has built a growing international fan base. However, she still describes herself as someone just getting started.

When asked when the world might stop calling her an “up-and-coming” artist, she basically shrugged. “Girl, I don’t know,” she said.

She knows she’s accomplished a lot, and she’s proud of her accomplishments, but none of those things, she explained, guarantee that you’ve reached the moment you’ve been waiting for. “You can have all the accolades in the world, but it really just takes like a shift, and sometimes it’s longer, sometimes it might be a song,” she said.

That’s why she’s focused less on collecting achievements and more on making music that actually sticks. “I think that my focus is to just like make really good albums,” she said.

She wants to build a community around her music so that when the bigger spotlight eventually arrives, she’ll have something meaningful to show for it. “I know my potential, and I know the music that I’m making,” she said. “I feel like people literally have not seen not even like 1/5 of what I know I can offer.”

Shakira surprises fans by speaking Catalan: Star reveals that’s how she communicates with her sons

Shakira may have left Barcelona behind, but one part of her life in Catalonia has followed her all the way to Miami. The Colombian superstar surprised Spanish television viewers during her October 8 appearance on La Revuelta when she effortlessly switched between Spanish and Catalan while chatting with host David Broncano.

What started as a casual conversation quickly turned into one of the interview’s funniest moments. Shakira revealed that she still speaks Catalan with her two sons, Milan and Sasha, whom she shares with former FC Barcelona footballer Gerard Piqué.

The Colombian artist has arrived in Madrid to begin a stay of almost a month, with 12 concerts scheduled at the Shakira Stadium.

She admitted that she uses the language more frequently in Miami than she did while living in Catalonia. “I speak more Catalan in Miami than when I lived in Catalonia,” Shakira confessed, explaining that the language has become something of a secret communication tool in her household.

Shakira speaks Catalan on La Revuelta and surprises David Broncano

The unexpected language lesson began when Shakira casually used a popular Catalan expression during her interview. “De puta mare, como dicen en Catalunya,” she said, using a colloquial phrase that roughly translates to “freaking awesome.”

Broncano immediately noticed. “Do you speak Catalan?” he asked.

Shakira confirmed that she does, explaining that her connection to the language remains strong because of her children. “I speak Catalan with my children. Yes, they are Catalan,” the singer explained.

Why Shakira speaks Catalan with Milan and Sasha in Miami

For Shakira, Catalan is more than a reminder of her years in Barcelona. It also serves a surprisingly practical purpose. The singer revealed that her children sometimes switch to Catalan when they want to communicate without their friends understanding the conversation. “I speak Catalan with them in Miami. When they don’t want their friends to understand them, they speak Catalan to me,” she explained.

Although Milan and Sasha have grown up surrounded by multiple languages, Shakira clarified that English is their primary language when speaking to each other. “They speak a lot of English with each other. I try to speak in Spanish with them and in Catalan when I don’t want other people to understand me,” she said.

Shakira shows off her Catalan with several expressions

Shakira didn’t stop at explaining how she uses the language. She also demonstrated her Catalan skills by sharing a few familiar expressions. Among the phrases she used were “Però què fas, tio!” which means “But what are you doing, dude?”

“Milan, parlem després,” which means “Milan, let’s talk later,” and “Hem de parlar d’això,” which means “We need to talk about this.”

And while she is internationally recognized for performing in Spanish and English, her ability to converse in Catalan reflects another aspect of her multilingual life.

David Broncano jokes about Gerard Piqué during the Catalan conversation

Just when the conversation seemed to be turning into an informal Catalan lesson, Broncano introduced an unexpected twist.

Shakira appeared surprised when the television host responded to her in Catalan. Curious about how someone from Jaén had learned the language, she asked whether he had once dated a Catalan woman.

Broncano confirmed that he had and immediately turned the coincidence into a joke. “In fact, the same thing has happened to both of us,” he replied, apparently alluding to their past relationships with Catalan partners.

The exchange was particularly amusing given Shakira’s highly publicized breakup with Piqué, which inspired some of her most talked-about music.

Shakira’s Barcelona years continue to influence her family life

Shakira’s relationship with Catalonia extends well beyond her former romance with Gerard Piqué. The singer spent years living in Barcelona, where her sons Milan and Sasha were raised during their early childhood. Both children began their education in Catalonia before the family relocated to Miami in 2023.

Their move marked a significant new chapter for Shakira, who has since balanced motherhood with her international music career. Still, the singer’s comments on La Revuelta suggest that the language and cultural influences from those years remain part of her children’s lives.

  • Ryan Reynolds goes hard on Justin Baldoni in explosive unsealed texts

Ryan Reynolds did not hold back when discussing Justin Baldoni behind closed doors. Newly unsealed text messages from Blake Lively‘s legal battle with her It Ends With Us co-star and director reveal just how strongly the Deadpool actor felt about Baldoni as his wife faced intense public criticism during the film’s August 2024 release.

In messages exchanged with It Ends With Us author Colleen Hoover, Reynolds called Baldoni a “predator and sociopath” while criticizing the public narrative surrounding Lively.

The private conversations, reported by Page Six on October 9, 2026, offer another revealing look at the Hollywood dispute that dominated entertainment headlines before Lively and Baldoni reached a settlement in May 2026.

And Reynolds’ comments about Baldoni were only part of the story.

Ryan Reynolds Calls Justin Baldoni a ‘Predator and Sociopath’ in Private Texts

According to the newly disclosed court documents, Reynolds exchanged messages with Hoover on August 10, 2024, as speculation about tension behind the scenes of It Ends With Us intensified.

In one particularly pointed message, Reynolds expressed disbelief that Lively was facing public criticism while Baldoni was attracting less scrutiny.

He described Baldoni as a “predator and sociopath” and questioned why the narrative had focused on blaming a woman. The actor also expressed confidence that more information about the production would eventually become public. “It’s amazing to me how low people still go,” Reynolds wrote, adding that he believed people would eventually speak on the record.

The messages show that Reynolds was already deeply frustrated by the situation months before Lively formally accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation in December 2024.

Ryan Reynolds Mocks Justin Baldoni’s Crisis PR Team

One of the more striking revelations involves Reynolds’ sarcastic interpretation of Baldoni’s public relations strategy.

In his conversation with Hoover, Reynolds suggested that Baldoni’s crisis communications advisers were encouraging the director to maintain a carefully crafted public image while handling negative attention behind the scenes.

Reynolds imagined a conversation in which the team instructed Baldoni to continue discussing domestic violence, praising Lively and presenting himself as a thoughtful advocate.

He then wrote an imaginary response from Baldoni: “Justin: Namaste. Let’s get this bitch.” According to the court documents cited by Page Six, Hoover reacted with laughter.

The exchange reflected Reynolds’ belief that Baldoni’s public messaging did not align with what Reynolds believed was happening behind the scenes. Baldoni disputed the allegations against him.

Colleen Hoover Responds to Ryan Reynolds’ Messages About Justin Baldoni

Hoover, whose bestselling novel inspired the film, also shared her frustration with the online reaction. In the newly revealed conversation, the author suggested that some of the loudest critics were young social media users who might eventually regret their comments.

She also expressed relief that public attention appeared to be shifting away from Lively and toward Baldoni. Reynolds responded that he was surprised by the number of girls participating in the criticism, although he believed some observers already understood the situation.

Their exchange came during a particularly complicated promotional period for It Ends With Us.

The film performed strongly at the box office, but its publicity campaign attracted controversy over how its subject matter was being discussed.

Lively faced criticism for encouraging moviegoers to wear floral outfits to screenings and for promoting her business ventures during interviews connected to a film centered on domestic abuse. At the same time, speculation grew about why Baldoni appeared separately from several cast members during promotional events.

The newly disclosed texts suggest that Reynolds and Hoover viewed the backlash through a very different lens from many of the film’s online critics.

Ryan Reynolds Also Pressured Sony Pictures to Defend Blake Lively

The messages to Hoover were not the only private communications involving Reynolds that have attracted attention.

Additional court documents reported by Page Six reveal that Reynolds contacted talent agent Warren Zavala on August 17, 2024, urging Sony Pictures to publicly support Lively. Reynolds reportedly believed the studio was failing to adequately defend his wife against damaging publicity.

He described Sony’s response as “unforgivable” and argued that the company needed to take stronger action. “Sony needs to step up for real,” Reynolds wrote. “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.”

According to the messages, Reynolds had even drafted a proposed statement for the studio, although Sony did not release his version.

He wanted the company to acknowledge what he believed was a coordinated reputational attack on Lively.

Sony eventually issued a public statement supporting the actress in December 2024, after her allegations against Baldoni became public.

What Happened in Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s Lawsuit?

The dispute began publicly in December 2024, when Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation related to their work on It Ends With Us.

Baldoni denied the allegations and subsequently pursued a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, and others, accusing them of defamation and other wrongdoing. That lawsuit was dismissed in June 2025.

In April 2026, a federal judge dismissed much of Lively’s case, including her sexual harassment claims, while allowing certain retaliation-related claims to proceed.

The ruling did not establish that all of the alleged conduct had or had not occurred. Some claims were dismissed because of the legal requirements governing Lively’s working relationship and the claims she brought.

The parties ultimately reached a confidential settlement in May 2026, shortly before the scheduled trial.

A joint statement from the parties acknowledged concerns about the production and emphasized the importance of workplaces free from misconduct.

The agreement ended the litigation without a trial determining the remaining disputed allegations.

How Has Justin Baldoni Responded Since the Settlement?

Baldoni has also addressed the emotional toll of the legal dispute.

In July 2026, he and his wife, Emily Baldoni, shared a video discussing the difficult period their family had experienced. The director said they had deliberately avoided speaking publicly for an extended period while allowing the legal process to unfold.

The couple expressed gratitude for their supporters while also describing the pain and perceived injustice they had experienced.

Baldoni maintained that he wanted the legal system to address the allegations rather than continue arguing publicly.

Marcello Hernández gets real about his Cuban-Dominican roots

Marcello Hernández has never been shy about turning his Cuban and Dominican upbringing into comedy. But during a new appearance on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, the Saturday Night Live star went beyond the punchlines, opening up about the cultural differences inside his own family, his mother’s complicated relationship with Cuba, and why performing comedy in Spanish has become especially meaningful to him.

The episode, released October 6, features Poehler sitting down with Hernández for a wide-ranging conversation about his Miami childhood, soccer, comedy, SNL, and his Latino identity. Fellow SNL cast member Sarah Sherman also appears in the episode.

For Hernández, being raised by a Cuban mother and Dominican father gave him a front-row seat to two Caribbean cultures that share plenty of similarities but have distinct personalities of their own.

Marcello Hernández Explains Cuban and Dominican Cultural Differences

Poehler brought up Hernández’s background directly, telling him she loves hearing him discuss the differences between his mother’s Cuban culture and his father’s Dominican culture.

Hernández started with something familiar. “The food is pretty much the same,” Hernández said before explaining that Cuban culture is more closely associated with salsa, while in the Dominican Republic, “they do merengue and bachata.”

He then demonstrated how the rhythms of the two cultures extend beyond music and into language.

Hernández explained that Cuban and Dominican Spanish can sound noticeably different, with Dominican Spanish coming across as “a little higher and faster.” He slipped between the accents during the conversation, giving Poehler a demonstration of the linguistic differences he grew up hearing.

Marcello Hernández Opens Up About His Cuban Mom

The conversation became more personal when Hernández discussed his mother’s experience leaving Cuba and eventually building a life in the United States. “My mom came from Cuba and it was difficult because they took her stuff,” Hernández told Poehler, referring to his mother’s experiences surrounding Cuba’s communist government.

According to Hernández, those experiences shaped the way his mother viewed her identity after coming to America. “When she came to America, she really leaned in to being American,” he explained. At one point, he recalled, she even talked about changing the family’s last name to Smith.

Hernández said his mother wanted to distance herself from what she had experienced in Cuba and embrace her new country. “She was so, like, sad and embarrassed of what happened in Cuba that she wanted to be fully American,” he said.

It is a revealing detail because Hernández’s career now puts his Latino heritage front and center. His comedy frequently embraces the accents, personalities, and experiences that shaped his childhood, even as his mother’s generation once felt pressure to assimilate.

How Marcello Hernández’s Family Inspired His Comedy

Hernández’s Cuban-Dominican background has been part of his comedy since his earliest days on Saturday Night Live.

During his first “Weekend Update” appearance in 2022, Hernández introduced himself with a joke that quickly established exactly where he came from: “My mom is from Cuba. And my dad is from the Dominican Republic. So obviously, they’re divorced.”

Since then, family and Latino identity have remained recurring themes in his comedy. His protective Latina mother sketch with Pedro Pascal drew from a dynamic Hernández knew well, and his mother has repeatedly been cited as an influence on his work.

Hernández has previously said that his Cuban and Dominican roots are inseparable from his material. “I definitely feel very connected to my Cuban and my Dominican roots,” he said in an earlier interview, adding that being from Miami is “a huge part of my comedy.”

Marcello Hernández Loves Performing Comedy in Spanish

One of the most interesting parts of Hernández’s Good Hang conversation came when Poehler asked whether he believes he is funnier in Spanish. His answer was immediate: “Yeah.”

“I’m fast in Spanish,” Hernández explained, revealing that he has also been performing stand-up in Spanish and doing some touring in the language. “And it is so fun.”

There may even be some disagreement over which version of Hernández is funniest. “My family, my girlfriend, my dad, they think that I’m better in Spanish,” he said.

Hernández also spoke about the evolving world of Spanish-language stand-up, pointing to a new generation of comedians working in the space while acknowledging the performers who came before them.

He described the contrast between traditional Spanish-language comedy, which could involve longer stories or political characters, and the fast, observational style familiar to American stand-up audiences. Bringing that punchier approach into an all-Spanish room can feel fresh, he suggested.

For Hernández, however, performing in Spanish is about more than getting laughs. “When I’m, like, doing a Spanish set with all Hispanic people and we’re all laughing,” Hernández said, “it feels very powerful.”

He specifically connected that feeling to the current climate for Latino communities, saying that gathering in a room where everyone can laugh and express themselves in Spanish carries extra weight.

Poehler also praised the current SNL cast for bringing different voices and experiences to the show, describing that variety as important to keeping the long-running sketch series reflective of its time.

That prompted Hernández to sum up the moment with a simple declaration: “Latinos are having a moment.”

“We’re having a moment,” he added. “Let us have a moment.”

The Miami-born comedian joined Saturday Night Live in 2022 and quickly became known for bringing bilingual humor and distinctly Latino characters into some of the show’s most memorable sketches. His comedy draws heavily from growing up with a Cuban mother, a Dominican father and the particular cultural mix of Miami.
