  • LONGITUDE recap: Adam Back on Satoshi, crypto regulation needs tweaks

Blockstream CEO Adam Back, the British cryptographer and inventor of Hashcash, said it’s “flattering” that people think he’s Satoshi Nakamoto and was probably the result of his being a little too “talkative” on the cypherpunk mailing list that started it all.

Back was speaking in a fireside chat with Cointelegraph at the recent LONGITUDE event in Paris, co-hosted by crypto exchange OKX, with discussions centered on crypto regulation, market structure and the growth of stablecoins.

Adam Back denies renewed suggestions that he invented Bitcoin

“It is flattering in some sense that they think you could have done it,” Back told Cointelegraph, reflecting on the widely publicized New York Times article on April 8 that suggested he is Satoshi, a claim he has denied.

Back said there is a logical reason people think he’s Bitcoin’s creator. “The problem for me is I was very talkative on the mailing list,” he said, referring to the 1992 Cryptography Mailing List, where Satoshi later introduced the Bitcoin white paper in October 2008.

“So anytime anyone was talking about electronic cash, I was right there, I was the reply guy with something to say about it,” he said.

Back said the mystery behind Satoshi is an “interesting question” that he and others in the industry have pondered but never answered.

Prior to the fireside with Back, the event also featured three panels covering the role of traditional financial institutions in Web3, the need for clearer regulation and the pace of stablecoin adoption, alongside a separate fireside chat with OKX Europe CEO Erald Ghoos.

MiCA is “extremely beneficial,” but brings risks to innovation

Crypto industry executives said recent moves to regulate the industry have been positive for improved clarity, but regulatory fragmentation and overregulation could hurt innovation.

In an onstage interview, Ghoos shed light on the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, a framework with which OKX Europe was deemed fully compliant in January 2025.

“I think MiCA is extremely beneficial for the industry,” Ghoos said, explaining that it has helped to build trust in crypto.

“Now it is a fully regulated asset class, which is very important,” Ghoos said, adding that industry participants will be “vetted and held up to the highest standards.”

However, he warned that the “regulatory burden” could slow innovation across Europe.

“Right now, because there is such a big and heavy regulatory overhead for startups, I do fear even more that the innovation and the great entrepreneurship that we have in Europe will start to shift to other jurisdictions around the world,” he said.

CertiK CEO Ronghui Gu said the lack of a unified global framework is a pain point for the industry.

“For developers, for crypto companies in different regions, they are still under different compliance frameworks,” Gu said.

Commenting on the proposed US CLARITY Act, which has been delayed largely because of unresolved issues around stablecoin yields impact on the banking system, Gu said that while the bill aims to bring structure, “many terms are not that clear to be honest, and a little bit vague.”

“I think different firms have different interpretations and so on,” he added.

“But I would say it definitely gives a much more friendly environment to crypto companies, to developers,” he added.

Cardano Foundation CEO Frederik Gregaard said he is “very confident” the CLARITY Act will pass soon, adding: “You feel the vibration from the policymakers saying we are going to adopt this,” he said.

“They are super stoked about it,” Gregaard added.

“When this passes, from the non-TradFi adoption, you are going to see 100X,” Gregaard said, arguing that “classical industries” have been waiting for clarity before embracing the technology.

US Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina said on Monday that he does not expect the Senate Banking Committee to mark up the legislation, also known as the CLARITY Act, in April and has recommended that Senate Banking Chair Tim Scott schedule it for next month.

Payments industry does a good job of “almost faking” real-time payments

Mastercard’s senior vice president for blockchain and digital assets, Christian Rau, said that stablecoins are “very well suited for payment purposes” during a panel with Stella Development Foundation chief business officer Raja Chakravorti and Ethereum Foundation enterprise lead Matthew Dawson.

“They don’t come with the volatility of other digital assets, given that they enjoy regulatory clarity in a lot of the world,” Rau said.

Rau said the traditional payments industry does a “good job of almost faking real-time payments.”

“When I tap my card, it says transaction approved or payment made…it’s authorization, clearing, and settlement,” he said.

“A lot of the things that work arguably very well today, they still come with time delays, costs, and so forth,” he added.

Meanwhile, Stella Foundation’s Chakravorti pointed to the roughly $317 billion in stablecoin circulation, which is up about 50% from last year, adding that he is starting to see some short-term cooling.

“Although to be clear, over the last two quarters, that’s started to slow down a little bit,” calling it a positive sign as it suggests parts of the underlying infrastructure are starting to mature.

“I think this next transition is local stablecoins, because people are now very focused on creating that opportunity in their economy as super important,” he said.

Chakravorti pointed to the “last mile” as one of the biggest hurdles for adoption, referring to the challenge of turning digital assets into something “workable” inside local financial systems.

“I think it is the absolute key, ultimately, that is where all the friction lies within this system,” he said.

  • Parker Posey, Stassi Schroeder to Topline Hulu Unscripted Shows

The studio behind The Traitors is bringing another back-stabbing competition to life, with another indie-film favorite as its host.

Parker Posey will take on a similar role to Alan Cumming in The Traitors as host of The Mob, a Hulu competition show that will gather a group of reality veterans and other celebrities for a series of “mob movie-inspired jobs.” The show is from The Traitors producer Studio Lambert and STV Studios’ Primal Media.

The Mob is one of several new unscripted series and specials Hulu has ordered. Among the others is House of Stassi, starring Vanderpump Rules and Vanderpump Villa alum Stassi Schroeder; The Girls, featuring Khloe Kardashian and several of her close friends; dating show Ring by Spring Break; docuseries Million Dollar Nannies (which will also air on Freeform); and a Sports Illustrated swimsuit runway special. Hulu is also launching a weekly podcast called Get Real (its first episode streams Thursday) covering the happenings in the streamer’s expanding and increasingly interconnected reality slate.

The Mob will find Posey (The White Lotus, Best in Show) and its cast ensconced in an Italian villa, where they will “shake down, hustle and whack their way to win up to $250,000 in cash prizes. Every episode, they will tackle mob movie-inspired jobs to survive. But every mob family needs a don, and whoever they choose will have absolute power — deciding who makes money, who stays, and who ultimately gets whacked. In a game where power demands absolute loyalty, can the don stay in control, or will the family rise up and overthrow them?”

The cast includes Willam Belli (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Demi Engemann (The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives), Maria Georgas (The Bachelor season 28), Joe Gorga (The Real Housewives of New Jersey), Harry Jowsey (Let’s Marry Harry), Chelsea Lazkani (Selling Sunset), Debi Mazar (Younger), Bella Palk (Love Overboard), Shane Parton (the as yet unaired season 22 of The Bachelorette), rapper Romeo, Dancing With the Stars judge Bruno Tonioli and former Sopranos regular Aida Turturro.

Studio Lambert’s Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, Niall O’Driscoll and Stephen Lambert executive produce with Primal Media’s Adam Wood and Mat Steiner, who conceived the format for The Mob, STV Studios CEO David Mortimer, Posey and showrunner Susan House.

House of Stassi is set to premiere July 29 on Freeform, with the full season debuting the next day on Hulu. The show will follow Schroeder as she “steps back into the spotlight to redefine her place in pop culture — but staying on top means confronting the ghosts of her past and a chaotic inner circle with a talent for disrupting her life,” per the logline. Hulu and Freeform also released a short teaser for the show; watch it below.

Scout Productions and Belcheri Productions produce House of Stassi. Erin Foye and Jenna Rosenfeld are the showrunners and executive produce with Schroeder, David Collins, Michael Williams, Renata Lombardo, David Marker, Eric Korsh and Simone Hilliard.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show will bring together models, athletes, entertainers and influencers showing off swimwear and “inclusivity and body positivity,” the special’s description reads. The first confirmed participants are previous SI Swimsuit models Brooks Nader, Nicole Williams English (who’s also in the cast of The Girls), Camille Kostek and Jasmine Sanders. Next of Kin, an EverWonder Studio company, is producing the show.

  • ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Goes Franchise With Spinoff Set in Orange County

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is expanding into one of reality television’s founding landmarks of Orange County.

Hulu confirmed the spinoff (after reports about the new series circulated almost exactly a month ago) and unveiled the cast for the new Mormon Wives extension Wednesday night at their second Get Real House event. Joining the cast of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County are Aspyn Ovard, Avery Woods, Salomé Andrea, McCall DaPron, Chandler Higginson, Ashleigh Pease and Madison Bontempo.

Notably, DaPron is the sister to main Mormon Wives star Mayci Neeley. Ovard is a prominent YouTuber who rose to acclaim on YouTube and has maintained her presence online.

Notably missing from the cast list is Jen Affleck, a star from the original series. People reported on the news of the spinoff on March 23, and listed Affleck as the only castmember from the main Utah-based series that was set to swap shows.

The announcement of the new spinoff arrived a day after it was revealed that production on the mainstay series has resumed. Cameras went down due to an internal domestic violence investigation involving Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex Dakota Mortensen, alongside two investigations held by police in Utah.

On April 14, the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office revealed they would not pursue new charges against Paul following the separate investigations led by the Draper Police Department and West Jordan Police Department. And earlier on Wednesday, before the spinoff was confirmed, a source told THR that the team behind the show wants her to return and has been supportive of Paul amid the turbulence she’s faced over the past few months, but only if and when she is ready.

The logline for reads The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County as follows: “A new group of dynamic young mothers in Orange County collide in a community where beliefs are not just their religion; they are their identity. While some defend their way of life, fighting against modernity, others embrace change, becoming a platform to disrupt the status quo. Scandals and secrets will be revealed, facades will crumble, and families and friendships will change forever on both sides of the battlefield as this group of strong, game-changing influencers comes together to build their answer to #MomTok. This is The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County.”

Mormon Wives adding Orange County to its franchise list notably follows in the footsteps of Bravo’s mainstay Real Housewives franchise. The Real Housewives of Orange County was the first series to debut 20 years ago in the network’s sprawling universe, cementing the SoCal county as an iconic reality television location.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County is produced by Jeff Jenkins Productions, in association with 3BMG and Walt Disney Television Alternative. Executive producers include Jeff Jenkins, Russell Jay-Staglik, Amanda Weinstein, Melissa Bidwell and Brandon Beck at Jeff Jenkins Productions; Ross Weintraub and Reinout Oerlemans at 3BMG; and Georgia Berger, Lisa Filipelli and Danielle Pistotnik at Select Entertainment.

  • Hulu Orders ‘The Mob,’ Hosted by Parker Posey, From ‘The Traitors’ Producers

Hulu Orders ‘The Mob,’ Hosted by Parker Posey, From ‘The Traitors’ Producers

Parker Posey isn’t meant to live an uncomfortable life. That’s why she’s hosting and executive producing a new reality competition inside a lavish Italian villa — from the producers behind “The Traitors.”

Hulu announced Wednesday at its “Get Real” unscripted event that it has given a series order to “The Mob,” which will follow celebrities as they check into the villa — and proceed to “shake down, hustle and whack their way to win up to $250,000 in cash prizes. Every episode, they will tackle mob movie-inspired jobs to survive.”

As part of the twist, the group of celebrities must vote to make one of them the mob family “don” — giving that person absolute power to decide “who makes money, who stays, and who ultimately gets whacked.” But will that don maintain the family’s loyalty, or will they ultimately be overthrown?

Celebrity cast for Season 1 of “The Mob” includes “The Sopranos” star Aida Turturro, who knows a thing or two about a TV crime family. Also on board: Willam Belli (“RuPaul’s Drag Race”), Demi Engemann (“The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives”), Maria Georgas (“Bachelor” Nation), Joe Gorga (“The Real Housewives of New Jersey”), Harry Jowsey (“Let’s Marry Harry”), Chelsea Lazkani (“Selling Sunset”), Debi Mazar (“Younger”), Bella Palk (“Love Overboard”), Shane Parton (“Bachelor” Nation), rapper Romeo and Bruno Tonioli (“Dancing With the Stars”).

“The Traitors” producers Studio Lambert are behind “The Mob,” which is also from Primal Media. Executive producers for Studio Lambert include Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, Niall O’Driscoll and Stephen Lambert.

Adam Wood and Mat Steiner conceived the format for “The Mob,” and serve as executive producers for Primal Media along with David Mortimer, chief executive officer of STV Studios. Posey is also executive producer and Susan House is showrunner.

Posey most recently received Emmy, Golden Globe and Actor nominations for her turn in “The White Lotus.” She also landed a Emmy nom as a guest star on “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” She’s known for her string of iconic indie film credits including “Party Girl,” “Kicking and Screaming,” “The Daytrippers,” “The House of Yes” and more, and also for her regular appearances in Christopher Guest films like “Waiting for Guffman,” “Best in Show,” “A Mighty Wind” and “For Your Consideration.”

Here’s a first look at “The Mob”:

Disney Boss Rob Mills on Restarting ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Filming, the Future of the Bachelor Franchise and Casting Ciara on ‘DWTS’ After ‘Summer House’ Scandal

From Hulu’s “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” pausing production amid domestic violence investigations to ABC’s “The Bachelorette” being pulled just days before its premiere, Disney has had an rocky few months — and viewers are anxious to see what’s next.

On Wednesday, Hulu shared its upcoming slate with its Get Real House, back for the second year, a presentation and party featuring a number of announcements — from an upcoming spinoff of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” to two new “Dancing With the Stars” cast announcements.

Below, Rob Mills, the executive vice president of unscripted for Walt Disney TV, unpacks all the biggest announcements, sheds light on the ongoing situation with Taylor Frankie Paul and shares a timeline for future “Bachelor” franchise series.

The news came last night that “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” is heading back into production. The first thing I saw this morning is a report that Dakota Mortensen and Taylor Frankie Paul, the embattled ex-couple at the show’s center, are not in it. But on Instagram, Taylor commented on a post about it, “interesting, that’s not what the call I got.” What’s going on there?

There’s not much to say, other than we are clear to go back into production. That does not mean we’re filming tomorrow. It just means production is resuming, and we’re trying to see what that looks like. In regard to Taylor, we’re really making sure that — as a human being, on a personal level — she’s being taken care of first and foremost. What shooting looks like will be decided later. Everything is still kind of day to day — this was just an announcement that we are just going back into production. That’s a process. Because we’ve been down for so long, we have to figure out what this season is even going to look like. What are the storylines?

How far into Season 5 were you?

I would say we were probably about halfway through.

Will you scrap what you already filmed?

No, I don’t think we’ll scrap what we have.

A lot of work goes into restarting production on a show, and a lot of things have changed. Can you talk about how you decided to proceed now? Were you waiting to see whether Taylor would be charged for domestic violence to make a decision?

No, not at all. It was just simply making sure that we were really being careful and thoughtful and working with the entire cast, as well as producers, and making sure everybody felt this was the right decision all around.

Dakota Mortensen recently posted that he was stepping away from the spotlight. Have you guys decided if he will be back?

I don’t think we’ve decided anything. Dakota is somebody that we’ve worked with as part of the cast. This is a family between Taylor and Dakota, and they have a child together. That’s really our first priority.

    Disney

What is the status of “The Bachelorette”?

Everything with that is one day at a time. There’s really nothing new to report right now.

There have been a lot of discussions about whether or not she should have become the Bachelorette to begin with. How do you feel about that decision now, looking back with everything that’s happened?

I had met with Taylor. She had said, “Look, I’m raising three kids with different fathers; one, I have a phenomenal co-parenting relationship with. The other one is a challenge, but I’m really looking for a partner and somebody who can help me.” Her motives were really very sincere. Walking into that, that was a really exciting story to tell through the lens of “The Bachelorette.” Obviously, with everything that happened and everything everyone’s going through, that’s the hard part. Everything that Taylor’s had to go through has been really hard. The season itself is really, really fantastic. It was a great journey for her.

“The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” has been so successful — will you be bringing any of them to “Dancing With the Stars” again?

It has to be something that feels like it’s additive for “Dancing With the Stars.” I don’t think we’re going to do it just to do it. But we are in conversations for casting for “Dancing” almost up until we announce, which is early September. So there’s always a possibility that somebody from one of our shows could be on.

Casting Ciara Miller is brilliant. After the “Summer House” scandal broke, was she immediately on your radar? You saw similar success with Ariana Madix, giving her her time to shine.

There’s an old phrase: The best way to get over a lover is to dance with a stranger. We really thought this was the perfect opportunity for that. We’re really excited. We had a Zoom with her, and she couldn’t have been lovelier. And by the time we start with “Dancing” in September, this “Summer House” scandal will be old. I think that, regardless of that, and whether or not you know anything about Ciara, if you watch “Dancing With the Stars,” you’re gonna fall in love with her. So we’re really excited for her to be part of the cast.

And then, when did you start talking about having Maura Higgins on the cast? After her wild finale on “The Traitors”?

You listen to what people are saying, and what the buzz is — and certainly with “Dancing,” people will tell you! Last year with Dylan Efron, you just immediately heard, “He needs to go on ‘Dancing!’” So that was the same thing with Maura. It was a pretty easy call. It happened pretty soon after that finale aired.

Let’s talk about “Mormon Wives” spinoff in O.C. There were reports that Jen Affleck would be part of the cast. Will she appear?

There’s definitely room for not just Jen, but many members of the Utah “Mormon Wives.” That’s all being discussed. We’re really just starting the show, but as you see, Mayci’s sister is on there! I think in a perfect world, it’s something where there’s room for everybody to kind of pop in and out.

Given the ratings successes reality shows have with weekly rollouts, have you ever rethought the “Mormon Wives” binge model so it has a longer tail? Or maybe do that with the spinoff?

We definitely have those conversations. We have them all the time. We’ve had them forever, and certainly, when “Mormon Wives” first came out, it was something we looked at. We look at every season, and it’s hard. There’s no crystal ball as to what the perfect model is. And certainly, we’ve been incredibly successful with the binge model on “Mormon Wives” so far, so you don’t want to mess with something that’s working. But absolutely, we look at that all the time.

You announced a ton today. “Ring by Spring Break” sounds insane.

It’s rooted in something that’s an actual thing. This is a Tiktok trend. There’s a contingency of people who do not feel a diploma is a measure of success, but an engagement ring. So the fact that we could build a format around that is really exciting. And to me, it almost feels like “Bachelor in Paradise” on steroids.

And then there’s “The Mob” from the team behind “The Traitors.”

I’ve been really impressed, and my hat is off to Peacock with “Traitors.” We’ve wanted to get in that space for a little while. So I think we’re really excited about that with “The Mob.” The fact that we actually have Stephen Lambert, who’s won multiple Emmys, behind us. He’s not going to put his name on something or produce one of these shows unless it’s really right, and he felt he wasn’t cannibalizing “Traitors.”

How did you come up with Parker Posey as both host and executive producer?

I think Alan Cumming really opened a door. Alan Cumming is an actor who’s done Stanley Kubrick. He is a phenomenal actor, and has said, “You can do this.” I don’t think anybody says, “I’m not going to do a movie with Alan Cumming because he hosts ‘The Traitors.’” So that opened the door to a lot of really exciting possibilities. And then we heard Parker Posey was a huge fan of this space and was interested in talking about it — she met with the producers. We didn’t just put Parker Posey in this just to put her in it. I think she saw the vision for this, and really was very additive towards it. It’s a privilege to be able to work with her. She’s phenomenal and really elevates it.

You mentioned “Bachelor in Paradise.” Will that be back in the summer?

That will be back next summer. We want to definitely take time and make sure that when that comes back, it’s really great. I think we want to get another cycle of “Bachelor” under our belt, so we have a new cast of potential female suitors. We obviously have the guys from Taylor’s season that could be part of next season of “Paradise.” I can promise you, when it comes back, it’s going to be phenomenal. It will be worth the wait.

Have you chosen your next Bachelor?

No, we don’t need to. We have time. It won’t air until midseason next year. We want to get it right, and we’re looking at all sorts of options and having a lot of conversations about that.

Top ministers quit after Peru’s president postpones F-16 fighter jet deal

Two cabinet-level ministers in Peru have resigned after interim President Jose Maria Balcazar announced he would defer a decision to buy F-16 fighter jets from the United States company Lockheed Martin.

Defence Minister Carlos Diaz and Foreign Minister Hugo de Zela cited their opposition to the move in their resignation letters on Wednesday.

list of 3 itemsend of list

“A strategic decision has been taken in the area of national security with which I have a fundamental disagreement,” Diaz wrote.

The fighter jets have long been a source of controversy in Peru, where critics have questioned whether the purchase is a sign of deference to US President Donald Trump.

Last week, the left-wing Balcazar — Peru’s ninth president in a decade — announced he would leave the decision about whether to invest $3.5bn in the purchase to the country’s next elected leader.

Balcazar himself had only been in office since February, selected by Congress to replace the latest in a string of impeached presidents.

Last week, he abruptly cancelled a signing ceremony for the F-16 deal, which would have seen an initial batch of 12 new planes added to Peru’s ageing air force. The country aims to acquire 24 jets overall.

Balcazar explained he was not pulling out of the deal, but that he felt the next presidential administration should be involved in making such a hefty financial commitment.

“For us to commit such a large sum of money to the incoming government would be a poor practice for a transitional government,” Balcazar said at the time.

“We remain firm in respecting all agreements that may have been reached at the level of the armed forces, or in this case, with the relevant ministry of the air force, to carry out the corresponding negotiations.”

His decision, however, was met with pushback, both domestically and from the US. The US ambassador to Peru, Bernie Navarro, responded on April 17 with a warning posted on social media.

“If you deal with the U.S. in bad faith and undermine U.S. interests, rest assured, I, on behalf of
[President] Trump and his administration, will use every available tool to protect and promote the prosperity and security of the United States and our region,” Navarro wrote.

Critics of the deal, however, have argued that Peru has received more competitive offers from French and Swedish aircraft makers like Dassault Aviation and Saab AB, respectively.

But Navarro on Wednesday denied that the US had been outcompeted. In a statement, he wrote that the “bid was made at a high level of competitiveness” and called the plane fleet “the most technically advanced fighter jets ever built”.

He also denounced the delay as an unreasonable stoppage on a deal he characterised as already signed.

“In planning the delivery of a product of this calibre, there is no such thing as an inconsequential delay,” he wrote.

“Every delay results in significant costs. The same package cannot be available in a couple of months, or even weeks.”

The decision to spend the $3.5bn on 24 fighter jets was made in 2024 under former President Dina Boluarte. The purchase was to be financed by $2bn in domestic borrowing in 2025 and $1.5bn in 2026.

In September, the US Department of Defense approved a potential sale of F-16s to Peru.

But Boluarte was removed from office in October, and her successor, Jose Jeri, lasted just four months in office before he too was impeached.

The instability in Peru’s presidency comes at a time when the Trump administration is seeking greater influence over Latin America, as part of what the US president has called his “Donroe Doctrine”.

Already, the Trump administration has pushed Peru to distance itself from Chinese investment. In February, for instance, it publicly protested against Chinese ownership in the Pacific port of Chancay.

“Peru could be powerless to oversee Chancay, one of its largest ports, which is under the jurisdiction of predatory Chinese owners,” the Trump administration wrote in a social media post.

“We support Peru’s sovereign right to oversee critical infrastructure in its own territory. Let this be a cautionary tale for the region and the world: cheap Chinese money costs sovereignty.”

Just this week, one of Trump’s allies, Representative Maria Elvira Salazar, warned that the Chinese-owned port was a danger to the US.

“That’s a direct threat in our hemisphere, right in the country of Peru,” she told a congressional committee. “For that reason, the new Peruvian government, which will be elected next June, must take it back.”

She added that, if the Peruvian government responded accordingly, “the United States will help them under the Trump administration”.

The country, however, is enmeshed in a messy presidential race replete with vote-counting delays and accusations of malpractice.

Election experts have said there is no evidence of voter fraud. But the slow vote count has left the race’s outcome undetermined, more than a week after the ballots were cast on April 12.

Right-wing leader and former First Lady Keiko Fujimori is all but assured of progressing to a run-off in June. But who will join her is uncertain.

Left-wing Congress member Roberto Sanchez is currently in the lead in the race for second place, with 12 percent of the votes tallied, but far-right candidate Rafael Lopez Aliaga, a former mayor, is close behind with 11.9 percent. Lopez Aliaga has been a vocal supporter of the Trump administration.

The final vote count for the first round of the election is expected to be delivered in May.

Traditionally, Peru’s new president should be sworn in on July 28, the country’s independence day.

MemeCore (M) Price Soars 3% Despite Warning from ZachXBT

On April 22, MemeCore once again witnessed a spike of 3% on the daily chart, following a streak of green candles on the daily chart for three consecutive days.

In the last 7 days, the cryptocurrency has soared around 60%, securing its place in the top 20 cryptocurrencies with the largest market capitalization. At the time of writing this, MemeCore is currently trading at around $4.52, with a spike of 3.29%, according to CoinMarketCap. The cryptocurrency holds a market capitalization of around $5.8 billion with a daily trading volume of $23.34 million.

MemeCore Soars 3% as Token Price Reaches Fresh Daily Highs

MemeCore M1.40% seems to be transitioning from a long consolidation phase to an expansion phase on both the 4-hour and daily timeframes. The recent breakout attempt suggests the presence of the pattern. It is expected to form a pennant or compression structure resolving to the upside direction.

However, there are chances that the recent breakout may be a false alarm. In the memecoin sector, such breakouts rely on temporary hype. It means that if MemeCore fails to maintain this momentum and faces downward pressure, it would be a sign of a bull trap. This generally happens when prices clearly break high only to drop sharply later on to test range-bound conditions. At this level, the token trades between major support and resistance levels.

According to the current price chart on TradingView, the relative strength index is sitting at around 53 on the 14-day timeframe. This indicator is telling that the cryptocurrency has strong upward momentum without entering into overbought levels at around 70. It also suggests that there might be a pullback if things go south.

Moving averages are clearly giving buy signals, with the 10-period exponential moving average around $4.32. This is a near-term support while the 20-period simple moving average holds around $4.26.

These indicators suggest that if the cryptocurrency soars above the $4.58, it might see further gains. On the other hand, if the cryptocurrency falls below $4.18, then it might test major lows.

Bitcoin is trading at around $79,000, and this steady rise in the leading cryptocurrency comes with growing institutional adoption and Bitcoin exchange-traded fund inflows. This upward momentum has sparked a bullish sentiment across the entire crypto market.

The memecoin sector reacted positively today to Bitcoin’s bullish momentum around $78,000. The MemeCoin Index has soared to 3.4% on sentiment returns, and alternative coins gained strength. The overall memecoin sector soared around 4% in the last 24 hours.

    MemeCore Holders Ignore ZachXBT Warnings

The ZachXBT controversy has drawn attention to this project, though the token has shown resilience in the face of the claims. The popular on-chain sleuth has raised questions about the project’s valuation and alleged that insiders may control around 90% of the supply. He also mentioned suspicious fund flows linked to the Kraken listing.

Despite these serious allegations, MemeCore has not responded, and it has continued to expand its ecosystem. Buyers have also ignored this warning and purchased the dip.

  • Bitcoin (BTC) Closer to $80,000 Than $60,000 Again, Ethereum’s (ETH) $3,000 Recipe, Hyperliquid (HYPE) Bounce Triggered: Crypto Market Review

Bitcoin (BTC) Closer to $80,000 Than $60,000 Again, Ethereum’s (ETH) $3,000 Recipe, Hyperliquid (HYPE) Bounce Triggered: Crypto Market Review

With price action pushing into the high-$70,000s and positioning itself closer to $80,000 than a return to $60,000, Bitcoin is moving toward the upper end of its recent range.

Following a severe correction earlier this year, Bitcoin has been able to stabilize and rebuild its structure, creating a sequence of higher lows that indicates a slow change in momentum. The price is compressing between rising support and a falling resistance line in the tightening formation depicted on the current chart.

    BTC/$USDT Chart by TradingView

A breakout is quite usual for this kind of market patterns, and the most recent movements indicate that buyers are gaining ground.

Bitcoin is testing a resistance range between $78,000 and $80,000 after regaining short-term moving averages. Technically speaking, the market is in a transitional stage. Longer-term moving averages are above price and serving as resistance, though the overall trend is still improving. Compared to earlier in the year, the recent bounce’s strength suggests that bearish pressure has considerably diminished.

    Momentum indicators

RSI is rising, indicating persistent buying interest without yet hitting extreme levels that would indicate impending exhaustion. Additionally, volume has stayed comparatively steady during the recent increase, indicating that participation is not declining as the price gets closer to resistance.

Whether Bitcoin can turn this recovery into a complete breakout is currently the key question. Further upside would probably result from a confirmed move above the $80,000 mark, since it would indicate a distinct change in the market’s structure and refute recent bearish trends.

The bias is gradually shifting upward in the near future. Bitcoin’s position close to resistance indicates that the market is getting ready for a bigger move, and it is no longer clearly in a downward trend. The way the price responds at the current levels will determine whether that move happens right away or after another period of consolidation.

    Ethereum’s bullish potential

After a protracted decline, Ethereum is steadily regaining strength, but a crucial prerequisite still stands in the way of a significant recovery.

A short-term uptrend, with higher lows and consistent buying pressure on dips, is currently forming for the asset, which is trading in the $2,400 range. Although the worst of the recent decline may be behind it, the recovery is still uncertain according to this structural change.

The 100-day EMA is the defining level in this configuration. This moving average has served as steadfast resistance throughout the larger decline, thwarting several attempts at recovery. Ethereum is currently pushing straight into that level once more, making it the most significant technical barrier in the current market structure.

The whole picture is altered if $ETH is able to break above the 100 EMA and stay there. That action would mark the beginning of a more sustainable recovery phase, after a corrective bounce. Practically speaking, it would make it possible to move on to higher resistance levels, with $2,700 and, ultimately, $3,000 becoming attainable goals.

The current move is merely another rally within a larger bearish trend in the absence of that breakout. Prior to this test, there has been positive price action. Ethereum’s trendline is rising, indicating steady demand. Although it hasn’t yet reached the levels usually linked to strong breakout confirmations, volume has supported the move higher.

Momentum indicators like RSI are rising but staying below extreme levels, so if resistance is broken, there is potential for more upside. The danger is still obvious, though. $ETH might return to the $2,200-$2,300 support range if the 100 EMA is not broken, which would probably lead to another rejection.

The notion that sellers still have control over the longer time frame would be strengthened. The setup is straightforward. Ethereum’s comeback depends on regaining a particular structural level rather than gradual appreciation. The basis is the 100 EMA. If you break it, the goal is $3,000. Fail, and the market resets.

    Hyperliquid’s bounce fires up

Following a recent decline, Hyperliquid is exhibiting a distinct recovery signal, with price action clearly rebounding from the $40 region and pushing back into an upward structure. The response at that point was not arbitrary. It confirmed that buyers are still actively defending the trend by aligning with rising moving averages and short-term support.

Over the past few weeks, the larger setup has improved. Earlier this year, $HYPE moved from a downtrend to a base formation and has since developed a series of higher lows. Even after the most recent rejection around the mid-$40s, that structure is still in place. Price has reset and is still rising rather than collapsing, which is usually an indication of trend strength rather than weakness.

Positioning in relation to moving averages supports the current move. After every decline, the price swiftly regains its position above short-term trend lines. The 200-day is no longer serving as a significant overhead barrier, and the 100-day average is flattening and starting to rise. This change implies that the general trend is progressively shifting in favor of buyers.

The narrative of the bounce is strengthened by volume patterns. Selling pressure did not increase in response to the recent decline, and participation in the recovery has been consistent. This kind of volume profile is frequently seen in continuation setups, in which the market first consolidates before rising.

The next critical level, where $HYPE was previously rejected, is in the $44-$46 range. A breakout above that range would confirm the trend and probably accelerate momentum. If resistance is removed, a move toward higher-than-expected levels becomes feasible, given the current structure.

  • ‘Summer House’ Star Ciara Miller Cast in ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 35

Dancing With the Stars is returning for another season, and the ABC dancing competition’s first casting announcement is a headline-making one.

Summer House star Ciara Miller and Maura Higgins (The Traitors, Love Island) are the first two celebrity cast members joining season 35. ABC announced the renewal and early castings on Wednesday during Hulu‘s Get Real House 2026 presentation, spotlighting the streamer and ABC’s unscripted slate.

DWTS will return this fall on ABC and Disney+, streaming next-day on Hulu. The full cast of celebrities and pro dancers will be announced at a later date.

Miller is a coup for DWTS and capitalizes on ABC’s long-running reality series enjoying a resurgence last season. After 20 years on the air, DWTS made a major comeback with season 34’s resurgent ratings and all-time high audience interaction that the show’s production team credited to boosts from TikTok and social media, as well as casting. The season also had its highest-performing finale in 10 years.

Miller’s casting continues that trend, as the Bravo breakout who had already carved herself out as a fan-favorite is currently emerging from a scandal rocking the Bravosphere with a wave of audience support. All eyes have been on the stunning ICU-nurse-turned-model since she was blindsided by the newfound relationship between two of her co-stars: former best friend Amanda Batula and Miller’s ex-boyfriend, West Wilson. The Summer House scandal will be addressed during the currently airing season’s upcoming reunion, where Miller will be in attendance.

There was speculation that Miller could be the next star of The Bachelorette. With that franchise on hold after scuttling its 22nd season with planned star Taylor Frankie Paul, DWTS has now swooped in with the stunt Bravo casting.

Also on the heels of last season’s success, ABC announced on Wednesday that it’s expanding Dancing into a franchise with a new competition series set around aspiring pro dancers.

Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro, hosted by season 34 winner Robert Irwin, will move 12 up-and-coming dancers into one house where they will compete in “a grueling audition process” to earn a spot as a pro dancer on season 35. Three-time DWTS champion Mark Ballas and his mother, Shirley Ballas, are the judges, with returning pros (to be announced at a later date) who will rotate in as mentors and guest judges.

That series will air this summer, premiering July 13 at 8 p.m. on ABC, streaming next day on Hulu.

Miller has appeared on Summer House for five consecutive seasons; she also starred on NBC’s The Traitors season three, in addition to her modeling career and red-carpet hosting. Global talent Higgins is also enjoying a cultural moment following her runner-up finish on The Traitors season four. The Love Island star was the first U.K. islander to cross into the U.S. series, hosting Love Island USA: Aftersun and Love Island Games: Aftersun.

Irwin, known as a passionate wildlife conservationist, is the most recent Len Goodman Mirrorball Champion. Ballas’ career as a performer spans television, Broadway, dance and music. He was a breakout pro on DWTS for more than a decade, nabbing an Emmy for best choreography. He also appeared in The Traitors season four. Mom Shirley is a champion ballroom dancer, world-renowned dance teacher and the head judge on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing.

DWTS is produced in front of a live audience by BBC Studios. Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro, also produced by BBC Studios, has Conrad Green as showrunner and executive producer. Ryan O’Dowd, Krystal Whitney, Alex Cross and Jenny Groom are also executive producers, with co-executive producers Deena Katz and Quinn Lipton.

  • Khloé Kardashian Is Executive Producing a Hulu Reality Show About Her Friends

Khloé Kardashian is getting a(nother) new reality series, but she’ll stay mainly off-camera for this one.

Kardashian is executive producing a new Hulu reality show, The Girls, which is set to premiere this year. The series will follow her “inner circle of real-life besties,” per Hulu. These besties are “raising babies, running businesses and surviving brutally honest group chats.” God Bless them. The series will include “surprise proposals” and “solo parenting,” as well as “glam getaways” and “growing pains.”

Kardashian will appear in the episodes but isn’t a part of the main cast, The Hollywood Reporter understands.

The Girls are comprised of Natalie Halcro (@nataliehalcro), Khadijah Haqq (@foreverkhadijah), Malika Haqq (@malika), Yris Palmer (@yrispalmer), Olivia Pierson (@oliviapierson) and Nicole Williams English (@justnic). It looks like Hulu wants you to follow them on Instagram, so do it or don’t.

“The chaos is couture — and the bonds are unbreakable,” the tagline reads.

The Girls is executive produced by Kardashian, Julie Pizzi, Farnaz Farjam, Nicole Blais and Lauren Goldstein. The series is produced by Bunim/Murray Productions, part of Banijay Americas.

In completely-separate-but-close-enough news (per me), Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker is getting a Hulu documentary titled Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear, which will premiere this summer. Both projects were announced on Wednesday during Hulu’s Get Real House 2026 presentation, spotlighting the streamer and ABC’s unscripted slate.

“After surviving a devastating plane crash that nearly took his life, legendary and electrifying drummer Travis Barker embarks on a raw and redemptive journey,” the synopsis begins. “Once a trash collector in Laguna Beach, his life changed when he stepped in as a replacement for Blink-182’s drummer — igniting a meteoric rise that would make him the driving pulse of a generation. Yet beneath the spectacle of fame, the film reveals a complex man battling pain, grief and the thin line between survival and surrender.”

“This is the story of the man behind the tattoos,” it concludes. “A tribute to those who keep going when the music almost stops.”

Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear is produced by Media Weaver Entertainment. The project is directed by Justin Krook and Michael Dwyer and produced by Matthew Weaver and Nick Stern. Executive producers include Lawrence Vavra and John Janick.
