  • Trump Insists White House Ban On CNN & MS Now “Lawful Under The First Amendment”; TRO Hearing Showdown Set For Wednesday

Trump Insists White House Ban On CNN & MS Now “Lawful Under The First Amendment”; TRO Hearing Showdown Set For Wednesday

Coming right up against a deadline set by a federal judge, the Justice Department tonight defended Donald Trump‘s ban on CNN, Politico and MS NOW from the White House grounds. The response comes despite an outcry across media outlets that the restriction is a flagrant violation of the First Amendment.

Leaning onto a Wednesday hearing on a temporary restraining order, the administration argued for Trump and top White House aides in its opposition filing that the “President’s actions are lawful under the First Amendment.”

Adding to that, and sidestepping Trump’s previous quip that there was no particular reason for the ban the Department of Justice is now claiming that CNN, MS Now and Politico have “engaged in a number of reporting incidents that have threatened national security” over stories on the construction of Trump’s much criticized ballroom. Swiping at past rulings on White House access, the DOJ is also maintaining that “While the D.C. Circuit has held that some areas of the White House grounds constitute a nonpublic that decision is wrong and should be overruled.”

After Trump banned the three outlets on Friday, CNN, Politico and MS NOW jointly sued the president and top staffers, claiming violations of the First and Fifth amendments.

“This ban could not be a more direct assault on the First Amendment nor a more blatant violation of our most fundamental constitutional principles,” their lawsuit stated.

Late Tuesday, the DOJ laid out POTUS’ POV.

“The White House is the home and workplace for the Nation’s Commander-in-Chief,” the 19-page document from Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate and others at the DOJ states. “Plaintiffs CNN, MSNOW, and Politico have long been granted privileged access to White House grounds. But the President concluded that they have failed to maintain basic minimum “standards of professionalism and decorum expected of those given access to the White House Complex, including” by ‘publishing sensitive or classified information.’”

Snapping at UN credentialed CNN reporters while in NYC today, Trump has found himself out of the usual spotlight.

Shortly after the filing on Monday, the five major TV networks that make up the White House TV pool said that they were suspending coverage in solidarity, leaving a void in video of Trump at the White House and other events. The pool is made up of CNN, NBC News, ABC News., CBS News and Fox News. Other outlets, like The New York Times, have protested the ban in other ways, like withholding their use of images from the White House.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly has scheduled a hearing for Wednesday afternoon on the outlets’ motion for the TRO. Trump has already signaled that he expects the judge to rule in the networks’ favor and plans an appeal. Even though he appointed the judge in his first term, Kelly sided with then-CNN correspondent Jim Acosta after the network sued the Trump administration for revoking his hard pass in 2018.

The three outlets’ legal team, led by Theodore Boutrous Jr., bolstered their case earlier on Tuesday when they noted a new D.C. Circuit decision on access to the steps of the Capitol. The judges ruled that the eastern steps of the Capitol were a “nonpublic forum” but speech regulations had to be “viewpoint neutral.”

Trump has complained about the three outlets’ coverage of him, telling reporters, “There’s something wrong with a country that can allow people to write purposely negative stories.”

  • GOP senator turns spotlight on US president’s crypto ventures

GOP senator turns spotlight on US president’s crypto ventures

A first-term Republican has defected from the party and called for an investigation into the two sons of US presidents. Sen. John Curtis of Utah cited cryptocurrency companies affiliated with the incumbent president’s family. He addressed the Senate Judiciary Committee, asking for subpoenas for Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden.

A Republican asking questions his own party has avoided

Curtis directed his letter to Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley from Iowa and the committee’s ranking Democrat Dick Durbin from Illinois to investigate “the use of family relationships for private financial benefit, favoritism, or access by domestic and foreign entities.”

On X, Curtis made the difference between a gift and what transpired during the wedding of Trump Jr., saying, “A toaster is a wedding gift. A private island party thrown at the expense of a Putin-connected oligarch is another story altogether.” According to Curtis, the Republicans have “nearly worn out the subpoena machine” investigating the foreign dealings of Hunter Biden and shouldn’t stop now.

A toaster is a wedding gift. A private-island party paid for by a Putin-connected oligarch is something else. Republicans nearly wore out the subpoena machine investigating Hunter Biden’s foreign relationships. We should not unplug it now. ‘Trust us’ was not enough then, and it… pic.twitter.com/dcWqUO6e2X

    — Senator John Curtis (@SenJohnCurtis) September 22, 2026

The senator, who was elected to the Senate for the first time and doesn’t have any election dates until 2030, stated that it would help “to establish the facts, determine if there are relevant ethics, disclosure, or anti-corruption laws applicable, and identify what steps are needed to reform the role of the office to prevent its use for personal gain.”

Crypto promotion and prediction markets in the frame

In the case of Trump Jr., Curtis singled out several issues, among which crypto is very close. The lawyer mentioned the businessman’s active promotion of family cryptocurrency projects, work on prediction markets, foreign real estate transactions, and contracts with defense companies.

The latter issue is a subject for regulation since those platforms come under the authority of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and according to Curtis, the deals may bring up a question of whether foreign individuals have access to the relatives of the sitting president.

The catalyst of the deal was a gift. According to Curtis, Kremlev is a Russian oligarch who had recently traveled with Vladimir Putin’s delegation to China, and he threw an after-party in the Bahamas for the Trumps’ wedding. Trump Jr.’s wife, Bettina Anderson, stated on Instagram that the couple had been provided with the celebration on a private island, and it was a very generous gift from Kremlev. Last week, ProPublica published information that the event had been “secretly financed” by an oligarch associated with Putin. The president said last week that his son had paid back Kremlev.

But the demand was not limited to the Trump side alone. Curtis demanded that Hunter Biden be issued a subpoena as well, arguing that he had substantial business dealings abroad, especially with China and Ukraine, when his father either was in office or seeking office, CBS News reported. Joe Biden had pardoned his son in December 2024, but Curtis mentioned that the son had denied involving his father in business dealings.

Durbin, who is the ranking Democrat on the committee, supported the demand. He argued that “corruption at the highest levels of our government should never be tolerated,” and highlighted that whereas Hunter Biden had already testified under oath to Congress, Trump Jr. had not yet done so. To ignore the issue, according to Durbin, would be to make the committee a part of “a cover up.”

The CLARITY backdrop and $1.4 billion in crypto income

This is happening at a crucial time for crypto regulation policy. The letter came about a week after Republican senators failed to secure enough votes from the Democrats to move forward with the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which was to provide market structure regulations in the industry. Some of the Democrats stated that their reason for opposing it was that the president “was using crypto to convert the presidency into a money-making scheme.”

There is an actual figure behind this allegation. Trump has stated that he earned $1.4 billion through digital asset investments by 2025. Prior to this, the Democrats have called for investigations into his memecoin, World Liberty Financial, owned by his family, and a $500 million deal with the Abu Dhabi royal family. The Republicans said that Trump had made concessions on ethics language prior to voting.

Mariska Hargitay Teases Christopher Meloni’s ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Return Ahead of Season 28 Premiere

It appears Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson will reunite once again on “Law & Order: SVU” — at least for an episode.

Mariska Hargitay shared two photos of herself and Christopher Meloni on the set of the long-running crime procedural to her Instagram on Tuesday, suggesting that the actor had returned to film the show’s 600th episode. The first photo, which showed Hargitay pointing to the back of Meloni’s head, was captioned “Who dat?” while the second selfie showed the two smiling side by side and was captioned “Happy 600…”.

The sneak-peek into Stabler’s return comes nearly a year after Meloni last guested on the hit show — he most recently appeared in the Season 27 premiere of “Special Victims Unit,” which aired in Sept. 2025 — and five months following the announcement that he’d no longer be playing Stabler full-time after the cancellation of “Law & Order: Organized Crime.”

He first originated the “Special Victims Unit” character in 1999, when the show debuted on NBC, and continued to portray Stabler through its 12th season in 2011. Episode 600 won’t be the first time the star has returned to the franchise as a guest; in 2021, he came back while launching “Organized Crime,” which premiered in 2021 and ran for five seasons before its cancellation.

On the subject of Meloni’s departure from the show, Hargitay previously told Variety that she “did not want him to leave.” “I tried so hard to broker that, because it didn’t end great with them,” she said. In the same profile, “Special Victims Unit” producer and Wolf Entertainment president Peter Jankowski said that the actor was, at that moment, visiting the show’s base camp at Chelsea Piers for a meeting with showrunner Michele Fazekas; Meloni told Variety that the end of “Organized Crime” represents a closing of the door on Stabler. “It’s like when I left the last time,” he said. “You’ve got to keep moving.”

Since first premiering, the crime show has racked up an impressive 594 episodes. The 600th episode is set to air during the forthcoming Season 28, which will premiere on Oct. 8.

  • Berlinale Title ‘Lali’ to Open Tasveer Film Festival’s 21st Edition (EXCLUSIVE)

Berlinale Title ‘Lali’ to Open Tasveer Film Festival’s 21st Edition (EXCLUSIVE)

Seattle’s Tasveer Film Festival & Market has unveiled its 21st edition lineup: 136 films from 16 countries screening Oct. 13-18, opening with Sarmad Sultan Khoosat’s “Lali,” a Berlinale Panorama title, in its West Coast premiere.

The films, spanning more than 25 languages, tell stories from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tibet and their diasporas. This year’s theme, “Bring Your Story Home,” runs through the selection. For the second year, the festival will take place at the Tasveer Film Center in Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood.

The 2026 lineup leans into several trends, with women telling personal stories in their own voices, animation arriving with what Tasveer described as real force, and filmmakers increasingly favoring images over exposition. Four films follow athletes, teams and the families behind them, spanning cricket to gymnastics, and turn on class, gender and who gets to belong: the same questions Tasveer says it has put onscreen for more than two decades. The festival will also present 12 LGBTQ+ films from six countries, continuing a strand of programming Tasveer has run since 2002.

Highlighted titles include the centerpiece film “Mayilaa,” directed by Semmalar Annam, in its North American premiere; the documentary “Breaking the Code,” directed by Ben Rekhi, from Washington State; the animated feature “The Chair,” directed by Triparna Maiti, in its Washington State premiere; the closing night film, Nepal’s Oscar contender “Elephants in the Fog,” directed by Abinash Bikram Shah, in its North America premiere.

Aparna Purohit, CEO of Aamir Khan Productions, will serve as chief guest and jury head for the festival and market. The 21st edition includes 20 world premieres, four North American premieres and four U.S. premieres.

Several selections have ties to Washington state, including “Gaa Ghar” (“Home”), about two people tracing their relationship back to the day they met as a visa runs out; “The Turning Point,” which imagines civil war reaching Seattle in the near future, following a man and his niece as they try to escape a violent militia; “Three Sisters,” centered on a family meal; “Eka,” about a video-game artist starting his own studio; and “Riding Time,” shot across three summers in Bradford, following a rider in Britain’s Pakistani tent-pegging circuit.

“I have been programming this festival for 21 years, and I am still not over this lineup,” said festival director Rita Meher, co-founder and executive director of Tasveer. “136 films, 35 world and North America premieres, filmmakers coming in from 16 countries. The sports films, the queer stories, the animation, all of it arrived with a boldness that tells me something has shifted in South Asian cinema.”

The Tasveer Film Market runs Oct. 13-15 and is now in its third year, billed as North America’s first global market dedicated to South Asian film. This year’s edition folds in the Co-Production Market Selects program, pitch sessions through the Tasveer Film Fund, industry panels, fireside conversations and networking events. Four filmmakers selected for the Film Fund will each walk away with a $35,000 grant to develop their next project.

“We are welcoming filmmakers, industry leaders, and audiences from all over the world, whether they’re flying in from Mumbai or coming from just down Rainier Avenue,” Meher said. “Then the market sends four of these filmmakers home with funding to make the next one. The public is welcome to join us–come be part of it.”

Public funders backing the 21st edition include King County, the City of Seattle and the Port of Seattle, joined by AARP, 4 Culture, the Conru Foundation, the ACLU of Washington, Visit Seattle and Tampa Bay Wave. The festival’s awards are sponsored separately by the RAGS Foundation, founded by Sridhar Tayur and Gunjan Kedia.

For more than 20 years, the nonprofit Tasveer has worked to give South Asian storytellers a platform in film, art and other media. Its mission since 2002 has centered on stories about gender, sexuality, caste, class, religion and race that don’t always find space elsewhere. In 2025, the organization moved into exhibition, taking over Columbia City’s former Ark Lodge Cinemas and reopening it as the Tasveer Film Center, where films now run daily.

BVNK Adds Stellar Blockchain for Cross-Border Payments and Treasury

    • Global reach: The integration becomes immediately operational for corporate clients in over 130 countries.
    • Operational performance: In 2025, the Stellar network recorded a volume of $55.6 billion through 3.6 billion transactions, with average settlement times of 5 seconds.
    • Technical structure: Users access Stellar rails and its native assets through a single API, requiring no additional infrastructure development.

BVNK announced that it will integrate the Stellar blockchain to enhance its cross-border payment, remittance, and corporate treasury disbursement services starting September 22, 2026.

Stellar is now live on @BVNKFinance.

This integration gives enterprise customers access to the blockchain designed for high-volume, sub-penny digital asset transfers.

With this deployment, the corporate payment platform expands its multichain architecture for stablecoins. Through this tool, businesses will be able to process international payments with low fees and near-instant finality, connecting crypto liquidity with traditional banking infrastructure.

    Multichain expansion for corporate settlements

The technical integration of the Stellar network allows business clients to execute fund disbursements and international transfers directly. BVNK reported that the implementation is designed to mitigate the operational complexity companies face when individually connecting to multiple blockchains.

By centralizing access within a single Application Programming Interface (API), organizations avoid rebuilding their IT systems as they incorporate new payment rails.

In terms of performance, in 2025, the Stellar network reported cumulative processing of $55.6 billion distributed across 3.6 billion operations, maintaining 99.99% uptime. Data from the network operator suggests that the cost per transaction represents a fraction of a cent, presenting a competitive alternative to conventional banking rails.

Regarding this, Denelle Dixon, CEO of the Stellar Development Foundation, stated that businesses moving capital at scale demand operational certainty in every payment corridor. According to her institutional stance, the alliance seeks to extend proven financial rails to regulated corporations processing regular settlements with stable digital assets.

This strategic move responds to the increase in institutional demand for stablecoins destined for daily treasury operations. Data from BVNK in July 2026 indicates that corporate stablecoin wallets function most frequently as global dollar account layers to mitigate operational frictions between diverse jurisdictions.

Through this technological layer, companies issuing B2B payments, international payroll, or supplier settlements can convert stablecoin balances into local fiat currencies and vice versa.

The regulatory framework has accompanied this corporate evolution. BVNK holds more than 40 licenses and registrations across different jurisdictions, including an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license in the United Kingdom under FCA supervision, licenses in Malta adapted to MiCA regulations, and money transmitter authorizations in the United States.

Technical data from the firm suggests the progressive addition of more native Stellar assets within the same connection environment during the coming quarters.

As the next verifiable milestone on the company’s calendar, BVNK will complete the functional rollout of its unified stablecoin card and account infrastructure in the European market during the final quarter of 2026.

  • Dolly Parton’s Manager Files for Restraining Order Against Fired Nephew, Alleging Ex-Security Head Sent ‘Terrorizing’ Texts and Threatened to ‘Destroy the Entire Brand’

Dolly Parton’s Manager Files for Restraining Order Against Fired Nephew, Alleging Ex-Security Head Sent ‘Terrorizing’ Texts and Threatened to ‘Destroy the Entire Brand’

Dolly Parton‘s longtime manager has filed for a restraining order against her nephew, who until being fired a week ago was her head of security, alleging that the family member is engaged in a campaign of coercion, extortion and violent threats that has terrified employees and associates of her management company and trust to the point that they require their own personal security.

The manager, Danny Nozell, representing She’s Alive, LLC (SAL), dismissed Bryan Seaver, who runs Squadron Augmented Protection Services, LLC (SAPS), on Sept. 15, about three weeks after the country superstar’s Aug. 25 death. It was Seaver who announced his aunt’s death to the world in an Instagram video. But an extensive fiiing made by the trust to a Tennessee court late Tuesday afternoon paint a different portrait of Seaver than the reverent one seen in the death announcement video. The legal paperwork alleges that in colorful and sometimes disturbing language, Seaver referred to himself as a mercenary and “killer” and threatened to interfere with Parton’s businesses, including Dollywood, if he did not receive proper payment, in texts sent both before and after her death.

The filing refers to Seaver’s claims of a paramilitary background and says he has dozens of employees who possess military-grade weaponry, and that some employees no longer come to work as a result of the alleged intimidation, while a lawyer who ran some of Parton’s music affairs stopped working for her as a result of the nephew’s ominous language.

The filing from the attorneys for She’s Alive states: “Mr. Seaver began his campaign of threats, intimidation, and coercion a few weeks prior to Ms. Parton’s passing. Those threats continued after her passing, and he aimed them directly at SAL’s personnel, counsel, and business partners. In writing, he vowed to ‘destroy the entire brand,’ threatened to ‘ratfuck every [business party] entity’ that helps operate Dollywood and called himself ‘literally an international arms dealer and mercenary.’ He threatened that ‘[e]veryone needs to be worried about what I might do,”and told Ms. Parton’s entertainment attorney: ‘I’m not an entertainment person. I’m a killer.’ He also threatened to launch a podcast ‘dedicated to ruining Dolly’s brand partnerships’ unless he was paid.”

Variety has reviewed all four parts of the request for a restraining order and subsequent jury trial, which are filled with lurid quotes and screenshots of angry text messages said to have been sent to Nozell by Seaver.

Seaver did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment after the request for the restraining order went public. Seaver did issue a statement Tuesday to TMZ, which first reported on the restraining order, telling the outlet, “I am a career soldier and military contractor and do conduct arms deals for foreign governments. I am a security professional and I am a killer. However, nothing in this lawsuit were threats and most of the comments I stand by… I was talking frankly in a private way with Danny who I thought was my friend and he fancies himself a gangster. A lot of these messages are two guys having rage talk and crying on the phone together while we were grieving.”

Seaver says in the alleged texts that he has been turning down media requests, even though “now I’m the biggest social media post in human history,” apparently referring to the death announcement video. Among the alleged text statements Seaver is said to have written to Nozell that are included in the legal paperwork:

“I’m going to destroy the entire brand if you don’t get these [Dollywood business partners] out of our bit. . . . I’m going to go to Billboard Magazine with my shit. Just like you. I’m going to ratfuck every [Dollywood business partner] entity I can possibly conjure.” (The parenthetical additions represent the lawyers’ explanations.)

And: “I’m not an entertainment person. I’m a killer. I sold 27 million $ worth of ammunition and arms to the Haitian Police on day Dolly died. Entertainment is not my game. I have spent my career breaking things and spying on African and Arab leaders. And protecting Dolly.”

In another text, Seaver is seen as allegedly saying: “All I do is warfare . . . Everyone needs to be worried about what I might do . . . “

“I am vengeance for my people for the next 50 years. I have no debt. I only own swords and guns. My children have 3 houses to live in forever. My wife owns everything. All I have is animosity and memory. But I’m going to spend the next times I have on earth ratfucking anyone that has ever betrayed my family.”

“I’m going to set up a podcast dedicated to ruining Dolly’s brand partnerships and telling the violations these people have done on us. It’s going to be great. Or fucking pay me.”

“Her money better be bigger than I can make elsewhere or I’m going to fuck everyone,”

SAL’s request for the restraining order says Seaver’s alleged threats “have already produced the harm they were designed to cause. Ms. Parton’s trusts and estates attorney withdrew after Mr. Seaver targeted her. SAL personnel have resigned; others no longer report to the office because they fear Mr. Seaver and his armed associates. SAL and its related vendors have been forced to retain private security for its personnel —including at their homes. Ordinary operations have given way to an atmosphere of fear.”

“SAL therefore seeks immediate, narrowly tailored relief pending a full hearing on a temporary injunction,” it continues. “Every day without relief gives Mr. Seaver another opportunity to frighten away a trusted employee, counsel, licensee, brand partner, or other essential counterparty. The campaign is ongoing, its consequences are mounting, and SAL should not be required to wait for the next resignation— or the next threat — to obtain protection.”

The documents note that Seaver had worked for his aunt in running her security for about 20 years.

“Mr. Seaver leveraged his family connection and two decades of funding through Ms. Parton as her security provider to increase the size of his personal militia,” the filing says. “Through his security role, Mr. Seaver had virtually unfettered access to the people, routines, vulnerabilities, and commercial affairs surrounding Ms. Parton’s enterprise. He has used his family connections, his access, and that knowledge to target the particular people and institutions SAL most needs… The written record shows a deliberate progression — from threats against a cornerstone brand relationship, to boasts about arms dealing and warfare, to direct intimidation of counsel, and finally to an express pay-me-or-else threat against Ms. Parton’s brand partnerships.”

Specifically, the action alleges, “SAL has lost specialized legal counsel. Ms. Parton’s trusts and estates lawyer withdrew because of Seaver’s threats.” it asks the judge to provide quick action because “the ongoing safety crisis is inherently irreparable. SAL has retained private security not only for the workplace, but for personnel at their homes.” Furthermore, the estate’s lawyers contend, “the threats are escalating rather than abating. In less than three weeks, Seaver progressed from threatening the Dollywood business partner and the brand, to invoking arms dealing and warfare, to announcing long-term vengeance, to driving away counsel, to telling another attorney he was ‘a killer.’”

Seaver is the son of Parton’s sister, Cassie Parton.

The hundreds of millions of dollars Parton left behind were bound to be the source of family disputes, although few could have predicted an escalation this fast and fiery.

There is positive news ahead for Parton’s millions of fans, as her years-in-the-planning museum is set to open in Nashville in early October, and an adjacent hotel bearing her name has already had a soft launch. Later in the year, the stage musical she oversaw dramatizing her life story will open on Broadway.

DOGE Rally Accelerates as Price Reaches Highest Level in Months

    • Dogecoin is trading near $0.09986, up 1.04% over the last 24 hours, after briefly reaching around $0.1059.
    • The move follows X’s rollout of trading links through its Cashtag system, involving Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Moomoo, and Interactive Brokers.
    • Rising derivatives activity has added momentum, although $DOGE’s longer-term technical structure remains mixed as traders watch key moving averages.

Dogecoin has extended its recent recovery, with $DOGE reaching its highest intraday level in months as the broader crypto market continues to attract buyers. The token is now trading around $0.09986, up 1.04% over the past 24 hours, keeping the psychological $0.10 level within close range.

The latest move comes alongside increased attention around X and its new Cashtag trading program. The platform has connected U.S. users with Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Moomoo, and Interactive Brokers, allowing supported stock and crypto tickers to display market information and a Trade option that redirects users to participating platforms.

$DOGE Rally Gains Momentum From X Trading Access

The connection with X is particularly relevant for Dogecoin because of Elon Musk’s long-standing public association with the cryptocurrency. While the new program does not mean $DOGE has been integrated as a payment asset on X, it creates a shorter path between financial discussions, market data, and trading activity.

$DOGE moved from an opening level near $0.0999 to an intraday high around $0.1059 before giving back part of the advance. Recent market activity around the $0.10 area suggests that traders are actively responding to the renewed momentum.

Derivatives are adding another layer to the move. Dogecoin futures markets have recorded significant trading activity, with perpetual contracts attracting substantial participation. Higher derivatives activity can amplify price movements when traders increase leveraged positions, creating opportunities for faster gains but also increasing downside risk.

Technical Signals Point To A Key Test

Momentum indicators also show why $DOGE has attracted renewed attention. Recent market analysis has placed its daily RSI near the upper end of the neutral-to-bullish range, while ADX remains above the level commonly associated with an established trend. These readings indicate that momentum has strengthened, although they do not guarantee that the advance will continue.

At the same time, the chart still carries a longer-term technical obstacle. $DOGE’s 50-day EMA remains below its 200-day EMA, preserving the bearish crossover that traders often monitor after extended periods of weakness. A sustained recovery would therefore require more than a single strong session to change the broader moving-average structure.
