Selig stated that artificial intelligence systems can analyze financial data, identify market opportunities, and manage crypto assets via blockchain without the need for banks or intermediaries.
Selig, giving an example from Ethereum, stated that a refrigerator could generate income by staking ETH or issuing memecoins, use that money for grocery shopping, and that such a future is not science fiction.
The Debate on Accountability in AI Agents!
Selig noted that the increasing role of autonomous systems in financial transactions could challenge the current regulatory framework.
According to him, key questions include whether the person developing an AI agent will be subject to registration obligations, who will be held responsible if the system makes a mistake, and how it will be verified in whose name the transactions were carried out. At this point, Selig added that, similar to customer identification applications, the discussion of whether a new system is needed to verify the identity of AI agents is important, and that a separate system might be required to verify agent identities.
