  • Bitcoin Smashes $80K as $260M in Shorts Get Wiped Out: Here Are the Next Targets

Bitcoin Smashes $80K as $260M in Shorts Get Wiped Out: Here Are the Next Targets

Bitcoin’s price revival that began last Wednesday culminated, at least for now, a few hours ago when the asset soared past $80,000 for the first time since mid-May and tapped a multi-month peak above $81,000.

Analysts were quick to pick up the move and outline the next short-term targets of up to $88,000. $BTC’s surge also led to an increase in liquidated short positions as the total value exceeded $260 million in the past 4 hours.

On a daily scale, the liquidations are up to $650 million, with the lion’s share coming from shorts again. Bitcoin is responsible for half of that amount, according to data from CoinGlass.

Thus, the primary cryptocurrency gained over $16,000 from its starting point of under $65,000 last Wednesday to just over $81,000 earlier today.

Some of the reasons behind this major resurgence include the US Treasury Department’s announcement from last week, the Crypto Summit in the White House, renewed ETF appetite, and Jim Cramer. Oh, wait, the last one might be a joke.

Some altcoins have followed $BTC on the way up today, including ETH, which has neared $2,500 once again. Although the asset has soared by 32% in the past week, the $2,500 barrier appears too strong at the moment. XRP, on the other hand, fights for the $1.50 resistance.

SOL has surged the most from the larger-cap alts today, pumping by over 7.5%. It now trades above $100 for the first time in months as well.

  • Nandamuri Balakrishna, Sunny Deol, Nayanthara Lead Zee Studios’ Multilingual 2026-27 Slate (EXCLUSIVE)

Nandamuri Balakrishna, Sunny Deol, Nayanthara Lead Zee Studios’ Multilingual 2026-27 Slate (EXCLUSIVE)

India’s Zee Studios has unveiled a diversified multilingual, multi-genre content slate for 2026-27, spanning Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati and Kannada cinema.

The portfolio brings together commercial entertainers, action spectacles, thrillers, mythology-driven epics and regionally rooted stories.

On the Hindi-language side, the slate includes “Baap,” starring Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff and Mithun Chakraborty, directed by Vivek Singh Chauhan. “Shri Ram Bhoomi,” starring Anupam Kher, Ritwik Bhowmik and Amruta Khanvilkar and directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, draws on Indian mythology and history. Other Hindi titles include “Delhi 2021,” starring Richa Chadha and directed by Abhishek Acharya; “Blind Babu,” starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and directed by Ravi Varma; and “Blind Game,” starring Arjun Rampal and Priyamani and directed by Sangeeth Sivan.

The Telugu-language slate features a project currently identified “NBK111,” starring Nandamuri Balakrishna and directed by Gopichand Malineni, and “Indraputra,” starring Kiran Abbavaram and directed by Srikanth Puppala. Also on the slate are “Kanaka Durga,” “Anasuya General Stores” and “January 12 Vidudala,” which stars Venkatesh Daggubati, Keerthy Suresh and Kalyan Ram and is directed by Anil Ravipudi.

In the Tamil language, the studio is backing “Hi,” starring Nayanthara and Kavin and directed by Vishnu Edavan, and “Sathyavan Savithri,” starring Keerthy Suresh and Mysskin and directed by Praveen S. Vijaay. The Kannada-language entry “Anna From Mexico” stars Dhananjaya, Reeshma Nanaiah, Umashree, Rangayana Raghu and Sadhu Kokila under director Shankar Guru. Zee Studios has also stepped into the Gujarati-language market with “Tom and Cherry,” starring Siddharth Randeria and Dhanya Doshi and directed by Dharmessh Mehta.

Marathi-language cinema forms another pillar of the strategy, building on the Indian National Film Award-winning “Aatmapamphlet.” The new slate includes “Jhep,” directed by Priyadarshan Jadhav; “Phulwara,” starring Priyadarshini Indalkar and directed by Ravi Jadhav; “Jogai,” starring Jitendra Joshi and Sajiri Joshi and directed by Vishal Modhave; and “Maan.”

The genre mix extends further with “Silaa,” starring Harshvardhan Rane, Sadia Khateeb and Karanveer Mehra and directed by Omung Kumar.

Zee Studios is also set to collaborate with Anil Kapoor Film & Communication Network for the first time on “Paaltu.”

“Our portfolio strategy is driven by the belief that India cannot be represented through one kind of story, one language or one cinematic lens,” a Zee Studios spokesperson said. “Every market has its own audience, talent, creative ecosystem and entertainment sensibility, and our ambition is to reflect that diversity through the films we back.”

“From Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam and Gujarati to Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and other language markets, we are dedicated towards building an unconventional content ecosystem with differentiated storytelling,” the spokesperson added. “For us, entertainment serves as the backbone for multilingual and multi-genre cinema, blurring the geographical and colloquial boundaries.”

Bitcoin tops $80,000, solana jumps 8% but rally now runs into overbought warning

Solana’s gains come as validators vote on two proposals that would cut SOL’s supply, as CoinDesk reported, one slowing new issuance and one raising daily burns to as much as $800,000. Voting closes Thursday.

Zcash extended its run, up over 1% to $846 and 66% on the week, the strongest weekly performance among the top dozen tokens. Dogecoin edged up to 9 cents for a 32% weekly gain, and tron rose half a percent to just under 35 cents, the only major without a double-digit week at 4%.

Hyperliquid’s HYPE was the sole decliner, off marginally at $81, though it holds a 36% weekly gain.

The rally traces to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s plan to step up bond repurchases, which revived talk of the debasement trade, the idea that holding assets outside government control protects against a currency losing value.

Bessent added nothing further on Monday, saying the department will continue its regular programme of sales and signalling no changes before the next quarterly refunding announcement in November.

Morgan Stanley estimated the Treasury has between $80 billion and $200 billion of spare cash it could put toward larger buybacks, according to interest-rate strategist Martin Tobias.

Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh speaks at Jackson Hole on Wednesday, his first appearance there since taking the job. Central bankers gather at the Wyoming resort each August, and the chair’s speech is where policy shifts have historically been signalled before they arrive, which is why traders treat it as a rate event in itself.

  • Bitcoin traders place $2.9 million bet on a rapid price jump above $82,000

Bitcoin traders place $2.9 million bet on a rapid price jump above $82,000

Bitcoin’s $BTC$80,733.47 recent staggering price rise has some traders paying millions for upside exposure.

On Monday, one or more traders bought 2,000 bitcoin call-option contracts with an $82,000 strike price expiring on Sept. 4, according to data tracking platform Laevitas. The trade effectively bets that bitcoin’s spot price, currently near $80,000, will rise above $82,000 on or before Sept. 4.

Think of it like buying a lottery ticket – the buyer pays a relatively small upfront amount for the chance of a much larger payout if the bet pays off. In this case, the call buyers spent $2.9 million in premium, the maximum they stand to lose if bitcoin remains below $82,000 through the Sept. 4 expiry.

This bullish options flow comes amid a renewed upswing in Bitcoin. $BTC is currently trading around $80,000, up from roughly $64,000 a week ago, a 25% gain over seven days, according to CoinDesk data.

The rally appears to have been driven by the U.S. Treasury’s bond-buyback announcement, continued inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs, and short liquidations that likely accelerated the move higher.

    Caution persists

Broadly speaking, the multi-billion dollar options market listed on Deribit continues to showcase caution.

  • Hulu Cancels ‘Not Suitable for Work’ After One Season

Hulu Cancels ‘Not Suitable for Work’ After One Season

Hulu has decided not to renew the Mindy Kaling-created series Not Suitable for Work for a second season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The comedy series, which premiered in June and ran for nine episodes, starred Ella Hunt (AJ), Avantika Vandanapu (Abby), Will Angus (Davis), Jack Martin (Josh), Nicholas Duvernay (Kel) and Jay Ellis (Bill). It centered on “five work-obsessed 20-somethings striving for professional success and, if they have time, personal happiness in Manhattan’s most glamorous neighborhood, Murray Hill,” per the show’s logline.

Warner Bros. Television, which produced Not Suitable for Work, plans to shop the show around for a potential new home.

When THR chatted with Martin about the show in June, he said he wanted a role in Not Suitable for Work the minute he learned about the show. “I really wanted to be in it, and I just got really lucky,” he said after getting cast as Josh.

As for Hunt, after getting the role of AJ, she told THR, “Being part of the Mindy-verse was exciting to me.” When Duvernay, who scored the role of Kel, first read the pilot, he “thought it was hilarious and refreshing” because “a lot of the comedies put out nowadays are so angled at Gen Z to the point where it’s like scrolling on Instagram.”

“It has that vintage … not to make the comparison, but from the jump, it’s always had a bit of a Friends vibe,” he added during a previous interview with THR. “That’s a giant to compare it to, but that’s initially how I felt being part of it. It has a more modern take on it. It’s work-obsessed kids trying to make their way in New York.”

Victor Garber, Greg Germann, Judy Gold, Ego Nwodim, Harry Richardson, Constance Wu, Laura Bell Bundy, May Hong, Bhavesh Patel, Emilia Suárez and Michael Benjamin Washington also served as recurring guest stars on the show.

Kaling executive produced Not Suitable for Work with showrunner Charlie Grandy and 3 Arts Entertainment’s Howard Klein.

Variety was first to report the news of the show’s cancellation.

  • Foo Fighters Rock Hollywood Bowl Debut as Gustavo Dudamel Says Goodbye to L.A. Philharmonic

Foo Fighters Rock Hollywood Bowl Debut as Gustavo Dudamel Says Goodbye to L.A. Philharmonic

Dave Grohl appeared unsure whether anything could ever be this good again as he took the stage for a unique Foo Fighters concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday.

Not only did the musician and his Grammy Award-winning band perform at the storied venue for the first time ever, but they did so with accompaniment from the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Leading the full orchestra was departing conductor Gustavo Dudamel, who celebrated his farewell weekend with the L.A. Phil at the Bowl before his tenure as music and artistic director of the New York Philharmonic begins next month.

“Tonight, we’re going to play as many things as we can before we have to stop,” Grohl told the crowd during the 15-song set. “We usually play for three hours a night, but tonight, we picked the best songs that we can perform with our friends in the L.A. Phil and Mr. Gustavo Dudamel. Some of these you may have never heard before, so sit back and enjoy.”

Indeed, the rock band dusted off some deep cuts to go along with staple singles “Times Like These,” “All My Life,” “The Pretender,” “My Hero” and “Best of You.” Also included within the set were such tunes as “Razor,” which the band had not performed live since 2006, and “Home,” which they last played in 2007.

“Gustavo, how you doing?” Grohl asked at one point of Dudamel, who has led the L.A. Phil since 2009. The former Nirvana drummer went on to quip about the orchestra and choir, “So I figure we just get 14 more buses and take them on tour for the rest of our lives. Good plan?”

As he has done lately, Grohl dedicated the performance of “Aurora” to late drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in 2022 at age 50. “He would have loved this,” Grohl said with a fond laugh about his longtime friend and collaborator.

Foo Fighters, who are currently on tour in support of recent album Your Favorite Toy, ended the night with their standard closing song and signature hit “Everlong.” This particular rendition included a fireworks show.

“I wish that we could do this every fucking night for the rest of our lives with all of these amazing people,” Grohl said ahead of the final song. “What an honor to be invited to this hallowed ground, this special place, to be able to give Gustavo one more big rock show before he has to leave this wonderful city. And then to share this experience with all of you guys, it’s so amazing.”

  • Dominic Monaghan to Join ‘Lord of the Rings’ 25th Anniversary Reunion With Elijah Wood, More at CCXP

Dominic Monaghan to Join ‘Lord of the Rings’ 25th Anniversary Reunion With Elijah Wood, More at CCXP

Frodo and Merry are plotting new adventures to honor the 25th anniversary of the Lord of the Rings film franchise.

Dominic Monaghan is the second confirmed guest for the forthcoming CCXP26 fan event that takes place later this year in São Paulo, Brazil, following the previous announcement that Elijah Wood, aka Frodo Baggins himself, will attend. With the theme of “Fellowship Forever,” this year’s CCXP is held Dec. 3-6, and its full lineup will be announced soon.

Monaghan made his feature acting debut as Meriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, which was released in theaters Dec. 19, 2001, and also starred Ian McKellen, Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin, Cate Blanchett and Orlando Bloom. Based on the writing of J.R.R. Tolkien, the New Line movie was the first in director Peter Jackson‘s trilogy that collectively surpassed $2.9 billion at the global box office and scored 17 Oscars.

“CCXP has a tradition of bringing together the iconic names who have shaped pop culture history, and Fellowship Forever is the celebration that The Lord of the Rings fans truly deserved. Having Merry alongside Frodo on the CCXP26 stage is one of those moments that captures the very essence of the festival — epic, in the most literal sense of the word,” says CCXP vp of content Roberto Fabri.

Monaghan returns to CCXP after attending last year’s edition, where he participated in panels and met with fans for autographs and photos. The British actor is also known for playing Charlie on Lost, along with his roles in the Star Wars and X-Men franchises.

Last year’s CCXP included a viral moment when Timothée Chalamet showed off his dance moves to “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” while promoting his film Marty Supreme.

Other notable presentations in 2025 included a Supernatural reunion; conversations with such stars as Kathryn Newton, Selton Mello and Game of Thrones standout Tom Wlaschiha; and panels for projects like It: Welcome to Derry, The Boys, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Anaconda, The Secret Agent and Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

  • Arbitrator Orders Washington Post To Reinstate Columnist Karen Attiah

Arbitrator Orders Washington Post To Reinstate Columnist Karen Attiah

An independent arbitrator has ruled that The Washington Post must reinstate columnist Karen Attiah with backpay and benefits, concluding that her firing violated a collective bargaining agreement, the union and legal team representing her said on Monday.

In September, Attiah said that she was terminated over social media posts in the aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

“This decision confirms what we’ve said from the start: I was doing my job as an opinion journalist, and doing that job is not misconduct,” Attiah said in a statement.

A Washington Post spokesperson said that they respect the arbitration process, but declined to comment further.

Attiah was a member of the Post Guild and covered by its collective bargaining agreement. Per the guild, she could only be terminated as the “result of progressive discipline” or if it rose to the level of “gross misconduct.”

A couple of hours after the shooting of Kirk, Attiah posted on social media, “I wish I had hope for gun control and that I could believe ‘political violence has no place in this country.’ But we live in a country that accepts white children being massacred by gun violence. Not just accepts, but worships violence.”

“Part of what keeps America so violent is the insistence that people perform care, empty goodness and absolution for white men who espouse hatred and violence…Again. I don’t care for empty rhetoric.”

She also posted one of Kirk’s quotes, that “Black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a white person’s slot.” Social media has been rife with claims of what Kirk has said in the past, but Snopes rated the Black women quote, from a podcast in 2023, as true.

Attiah continued to post in the days after the assassination, defending what she wrote.

At the time of her firing, the Post declined to comment on personnel matters. The Post has pointed to its policies and standards, including its social media policy.

The guild contended that Attiah’s firing was pretextual, and that she was being penalized for speech that fell within her job description. Attiah was the last full-time Black opinion columnist at the publication.

Post Guild Chair Natalie Vineberg said in a statement, “Journalists can’t work at an organization where they must live in fear of being arbitrarily fired for doing their jobs — which, in Karen’s case, was writing her opinion.” The New York Times first reported on Attiah’s reinstatement. The guild defended Attiah in arbitration, with support from the Democracy Defenders Fund.

Attiah joined the Post in 2014 and served for a period as global opinions editor. She was a prominent voice speaking out on the killing of columnist Jamal Khashoggi by agents of the Saudi regime.
