Apple may have just confirmed that its camera-equipped AirPods are ready for launch. In a short video clip included with the macOS 26.7 release candidate, the company accidentally demonstrated how Visual Intelligence features would work with its long-rumored AirPods with cameras.
The video, spotted by MacRumors, shows a man picking up a book and holding it in front of the AirPods, while a voiceover says, “With Visual Intelligence, your world becomes savable. See something you like? Just ask me to save it for later.”

The demo lines up with rumors we’ve heard about the product since 2024. Most recently, in May, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that the cameras would act as eyes for Siri. They won’t snap pictures or record videos, but they’ll feed Siri visual information about the wearer’s surroundings so it can respond to or take action on any related queries the wearer may have.
It is unclear what part of the stem will house these cameras. According to MacRumors, if your hair blocks the AirPods’ view, you’ll receive a notification asking you to clear it for “the most accurate information about things in your environment.”
Apple has reportedly been developing multiple versions of camera-equipped AirPods. According to Gurman, a version codenamed B798 is expected to launch next year, while a version codenamed B790 could launch as early as this year.

What MacRumors found this week are references to the B790 product, meaning Apple’s first camera-equipped AirPods may not be far away from launch. The company usually unveils its latest AirPods at its annual fall event, which is expected to take place next month. We expect Apple to announce the event dates soon.
macOS 26.7 RC, meanwhile, also included references to several other unreleased Apple products, including the Home Hub, HomePod mini, AirPods Pro 4, iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18 series, the iPhone Ultra foldable, and others. Among them, the iPhone 18 Pro models and the iPhone Ultra are expected to be announced next month.
