Late filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner has earned a posthumous Emmy nomination for a guest role in a comedy for his work on The Bear.
Reiner appeared as the character Albert Schnurr in a three-episode arc during season four of the hit FX series. The series finale, in a posthumous tribute to Reiner, also included the character Ebra, played by Edwin Lee Gibson, calling Albert Schnurr for assistance.
Reiner joins a star-studded category that includes Michael J. Fox (Shrinking), Brett Goldstein (Shrinking), Hamish Linklater (Widow’s Bay), Christopher McDonald (Hacks), and Connor Storrie (Saturday Night Live).
Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found stabbed to death at their Brentwood home on Dec. 14, 2025. Their son, Nick Reiner, was soon arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder; he is currently being held without bail while awaiting trial in Los Angeles. He has pleaded not guilty.
Reiner also appeared in a recent episode of Larry David‘s new HBO series, Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness, where he portrayed George Washington. He had a breakout role on All in the Family, which debuted on January 12, 1971 and and from 1971 to 1978 as a popular series created by the late Norman Lear.
The 2026 Emmy nominations were announced on Wednesday morning during ceremony that streamed live from the TV Academy’s Saban Media Center. Mariska Hargitay will host the 2026 Emmys, which will air live on NBC and Peacock on Monday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
