Jay-Z has added a London date to his string of “Jay-Z 30” shows, celebrating his three-decade career in music.
The rapper will play at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sept. 4. The concert will mark his only U.K. stop of the year and joins previously announced performances in Paris on Sept. 10 and Los Angeles on Oct. 23.
This week, Jay-Z is playing back-to-back shows at New York’s Yankee Stadium on July 10 and July 11, marking the 30th anniversary of “Reasonable Doubt” and the 25th anniversary of “The Blueprint,” respectively. He also played at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia on May 30, where he was backed by the acclaimed hip-hop band.
Variety‘s Steven J. Horowitz wrote of Jay-Z’s Philadelphia concert: “Twenty-five years later, [Jay and the Roots’] creative synergy has only strengthened. The show was muscular, a one-off that brought them back together for a tour of Jay-Z’s catalog with the Roots’ ability to make precision look spontaneous. That much was hidden in the details — the interweaving of ‘I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)’ and ‘Big Pimpin’,’ for instance, or the sudden switch from ‘Dirt Off Your Shoulder’ into ‘I Know’ — and was clearly a labor of love. Jay-Z himself acknowledged this at the end of the set: ‘We worked really hard to put this together.’”
Tickets for Jay-Z’s London show will go on sale starting with a presale at July 9 at 10 a.m. local time. General on-sale will start July 10 at 10 a.m. local time.
