Larry David is repeating history — the Larry David way — with Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America.
The limited series that was announced as David’s Curb follow-up at HBO was previously described as being “Curb Your Enthusiasm in costumes” by co-creators David (who also stars in the new sketch comedy series) and Jeff Schaffer.
Not much else has been known about what exactly that would mean — until now.
HBO on Thursday dropped a full trailer for the series (below), which reunites Curb duo David and Schaffer and is executive produced by Barack and Michelle Obama, along with Ethan Lewis and Vinnie Malhotra, for Higher Ground.
The seven-episode series debuts Friday, June 26, at 9 p.m. on HBO and HBO Max, with new episodes releasing weekly through an Aug. 7 finale.
“This is a declaration of common sense!” bellows David at one point in the trailer, which is a perfect summation of what to expect when David sets out to revisit history. Here’s the logline: “Those who don’t know history… are doomed to watch Larry David repeat it.”
In addition to David, the series features familiar Curb Your Enthusiasm actors and noteworthy guest stars. Jerry Seinfeld, Susie Essman, Jon Hamm, Isla Fisher and Jane Krakowski are just some of the many stars who can be spotted in the trailer; watch below.
Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America is written and executive produced by David and co-creator Schaffer, who also serves as director.
