‘The Simpsons’ to Premiere Three New Original Episodes on Disney+ This Summer; Laufey, Betty Gilpin Among Guest Stars

The Simpsons” is continuing to roll out new, exclusive content for Disney+ — announcing on Thursday that three new episodes will premiere on the streamer this summer.

First up, the double episode “Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition” will launch June 17 on Disney+. That will be followed by the full-length episodes “Simpsley” (July 3) and “Yellow Mirror” (Aug. 26).

“Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition” will feature guest stars Betty Gilpin, Laufey and Tegan and Sara. Here’s the logline: “Homer and Marge’s fun couples’ date night goes off the rails when Marge learns Homer left the kids unsupervised with only the doorbell camera as a babysitter. Frustrated with her imperfect husband, a tipsy Marge stirs up a trilogy of fantasies of a different Homer.”

As for “Simpsley,” here’s the description on what’s described as “Simpsons noir”: “When penniless con-artist Marge Bouvier is sent to Italy to convince wealthy sap Seymour Skinner to come home, she’s tempted by the trappings of his affluent lifestyle. But there’s a big fat fly in the ointment: Skinner’s clingy, dim-witted mooch of a houseguest, Homer Simpsley. Lies, lust and Italian lira are abound.”

And then “Yellow Mirror,” a parody of “Black Mirror,” follows “The Simpsons” as it takes on tech: “A defective lamp reveals a heartbreaking truth about what Homer believes is reality, and an AI-powered tablet befriends and controls Maggie. The Simpsons struggle to find the light through two dark tales of the curious and bizarre.”

“The Simpsons” recently hit its 800th episode on Fox; the broadcaster also last year renewed the show through a landmark Season 40. Disney has carved out rights for a handful of “The Simpsons” exclusives on Disney+, however, which was first announced in 2024 with the Christmas two-parter “O C’mon All Ye Faithful.” That was followed by two more: “Yellow Planet” and “The Past and the Furious.”

Disney+ has also run several exclusive “The Simpsons” shorts on the streamer, including “The Force Awakens from Its Nap,” “The Good, the Bart, and the Loki” and “Plusaversary” in 2021, followed by “When Billie Met Lisa,” “Welcome to the Club” and “The Simpsons Meet the Bocellis in ‘Feliz Navidad’” in 2022, “Rogue Not Quite One” in 2023 and “May the 12th Be with You” and “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” in 2024.

“The Simpsons” is a Gracie Films Production in association with 20th Television Animation from creator Matt Groening, developed by James L. Brooks, Groening and Sam Simon and executive produced by Brooks, Groening and showrunner Matt Selman.
