‘Dutton Ranch’ Episode 3: Rip’s Cattle Might Be Ruined by Anti-Vaxxers and Carter Avoids Getting Murdered After Peeing on a Truck

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the third episode of “Dutton Ranch,” “Act of God Business,” which is now streaming on Paramount+.

After last week’s pair of series premiere episodes, we’re deep into the thick of this season’s action. Rip (Cole Hauser) has already buried a man and isn’t being honest with Beth (Kelly Reilly) about it, the Jackson clan can’t mind their own business, and Carter (Finn Little) will definitely turn into a men’s rights activist if women don’t stop playing with his emotions. Buckle up for this week’s return to the ranch!

  • Wow, Beth and Rip have a tiny bed! I thought everything was bigger in Texas?
  • Beulah (Bening) is welcome to give my eulogy anytime. She’s a pro!
  • Ooh, what is the history between Beulah and Everett (Ed Harris)?!? Major graveyard flirt alert!
  • Damn, this steak looks good.
  • Why does this Sheriff Wade (Josh Stewart) think he can take the upper hand with Beulah? What a moron!
  • Ugh, Carter, why are you still trying to get with Oreana (Natalie Alyn Lind) after last week’s episode? And she’s dragging you into more drama with Hoyt (Kyle James).
  • I would never know how to do business like Beth does business. Is this how food vendors get connected with restaurants? Is this how anything works?
  • Uh oh, foot-and-mouth disease might run through Rip’s herd. More surprisingly, the first thing Everett does is blame anti-vaxxers, and Rip just nods along. For the second week in a row, I ask: Has Rip gone woke?!?
  • Carter, focus on high school, not the sexual antics of twenty-somethings. Peeing on that truck looked fun, but it’s not worth getting shot to death over.
  • Whoa, Anna Dupree (Dale Dickey) means business! Rip really talked her down from killing Zachariah (Marc Menchaca).
  • Eek, Zachariah killed Terry Jane by throwing his truck in reverse and accidentally backing over her? Yikes!
  • How often do you think these groups of cowboys start kissing after sitting around the campfire for hours? It’d be something to do … they don’t have TikTok or anything …
  • Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba) versus Beth is a good clash, but the scene was too short! More tension-filled drinks!
  • Oreana continues to be such a bad influence on a high schooler. It’s weird … he looks like a baby!
  • Yikes, this foot-and-mouth is going to be a major issue.

Until next week, Dutton Ranchers!
