“Fall” and “Shazam!” star Grace Caroline Currey is set to lead the cast of upcoming elevated crime thriller “Dead Miles,” being launched in the Cannes market by VMI Worldwide.
The film — from Minds Eye Entertainment — is being directed and written by Tom Levesque (“Shut Eye”) and is slated to begin production in British Columbia.
Currey will be playing Ellen, a struggling gig-economy worker whose pursuit of becoming an online influencer takes a dark and dangerous turn when she meets Nelson, a volatile and unpredictable criminal. He drags her through a brutal night of violent heists that forces her to confront just how far she’s willing to go — and what she’s capable of when she gets there.
The film is being produced by Minds Eye Entertainment’s Kevin DeWalt and Benjamin DeWalt, as well as Eva Trebilco of Lumin Productions and executive producer Emma Slade of Velvet Moss.
“Grace Caroline Currey brings the vulnerability and grounded, visceral intensity needed for the role. After her standout performance in ‘Fall,’ we knew she was the perfect choice to navigate the dark, high-stakes underworld of Dead Miles,” said DeWalt. “We are thrilled to partner once again with VMI Worldwide to launch this timely and gripping thriller to the global market in Cannes.”
Added VMI CEO Andre Relis: “Minds Eye Entertainment continues to produce quality genre films and are preferred production partners of ours. We are looking forward to presenting another Minds Eye film in Cannes.”
VMI Worldwide will launch international sales at the Cannes market, presenting the project to buyers with principal photography set to commence shortly thereafter.
The film is a treaty co-production between Canada and New Zealand. Filming will take place across various locations in British Columbia.
