Creepy backstory behind ‘Rumpelstiltskin tiptoe’ man that’s taking over the internet

A clip of a Rumpelstiltskin type character has gone viral on social media as people put it into new contexts, but it actually has a creepy backstory.

The clip features a young woman in what looks like a stable surrounded by hay, with a gnome-like character then approaching her as she screams out.

The gnome then does a dance around her, before turning all the hay in the room into gold coins, making the woman happy.

She then kisses the gnome character, who transforms into a handsome prince.

It’s seemingly based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale Rumpelstiltskin where the title character spins the hay in the stable into gold to save the life of the woman, whose father has boasted that she can spin hay into gold. She must then guess Rumpelstiltskin’s name to get out of having to give him her first child as payment for his services, which she does to his fury.

Some people had speculated that the clip was from the movie Rumpelstiltskin which was released back in 1987, but this is not the case.

The clip has been repurposed as a meme (Instagram)

One person took to social media, saying: “I am literally seeing it EVERYWHERE, and every single time, it sends a chill down my spine.

“I have no idea what it is about this creepy little thing, but something about it is deeply unsettling.”

The clip is actually AI-generated, with the AI video generator scraping its database for the tropes and the looks of fantasy films from around the 1980s, as well as what even appears to be some sort of ‘handsome prince’ trope towards the end.

It has even generated the look of the pre-CGI practical effects in these sorts of films in the way that the character’s feet move.

An Instagram account called stroinaya appears to be where the video was first shared, and has other AI-generated clips which appear to reference fairytales such as The Frog Prince and Rapunzel.

People have put it into different contexts (Instagram)

It’s far from the first time that AI has been used in this way, with the ‘dark fantasy’ trope previously going viral with AI-generated clips mimicking the results of the the immense talent and hard work that went into the practical effects in these films.

Movies such as The Never-ending Story, Labyrinth, or The Dark Crystal all have a very distinctive look – the result of months and even years of talented artists working hard to produce spellbinding puppets, make-up, prosthetics, and sets.

This clip however, was just the result of a prompt being put into an AI generator, though that has not stopped it from going viral on social media, as well as becoming a meme called the ‘Rumpelstiltskin Tiptoe’.

In the meme, the footage is played, with the music being TiP TOE WiNG iN MY JAWWDINZ by Riff Raff as the AI-generated gnome dances.

The AI-generated character has also been isolated out from the rest of the clip and placed onto a green screen background, allowing people to put it onto whatever other backdrop they want.

People have put it into different contexts, with meme.com explaining that it conveys ‘smug, playful mischief’.

Man rescued after spending hours trapped inside a bin lorry

A man was transported to hospital in serious condition after being trapped inside a bin lorry in San Francisco last month.

The San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) heard screaming coming from a garbage truck at around 4:11am on 2 September 2026.

In a statement, the SFFD said a fire truck was ‘dispatched to a report of a person trapped inside a Recology garbage truck on the 100 block of Mason St.’

“The driver of the truck had been flagged down and was told there was yelling inside the garbage area of his truck,” they said.

“Crews are currently working to remove all the garbage to access the victim.”

SFFD public information officer Capt. Mariano Elias told PEOPLE that 25 firefighters were called to help pull the man out of the lorry for over two hours.

During the rescue, the man remained conscious and ‘verbal’, Elias said.

    (San Francisco Fire Department)

“I personally heard him yell a few times,” he recalled. “I don’t know if that was in pain or just frustration.”

Once the individual, whose identity hasn’t been shared publicly, was successfully removed from garbage truck, paramedics accessed the man’s arm to administer an intravenous drip to protect him from crush syndrome.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, crush syndrome is a life-threatening condition that could cause muscle breakdown, releasing ‘potentially toxic muscle cell components and electrolytes into the circulatory system’.

It can cause local tissue injury, organ dysfunction, and metabolic abnormalities, including acidosis, hyperkalemia and hypocalcemia.

“It’s an unfortunate situation to lead someone to go into a dumpster, whether that was to sleep or fish through some things to find something for himself or something to eat, but the good part of his outcome is that he’s alive,” Elias said.

Recology spokesperson Robert Reed said the incident was ‘pretty unusual’.

Samuel Menchaca, a public information officer with the Fire Department, said one firefighter suffered a laceration injury and was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

  • ‘Prophet of Doom’ who predicted Covid warned of ‘pandemic’ days before death of Russian lab worker

‘Prophet of Doom’ who predicted Covid warned of ‘pandemic’ days before death of Russian lab worker

A self-proclaimed psychic dubbed the ‘Prophet of Doom’ made a chilling prediction over a possible pandemic days before the news about a possible plague outbreak broke.

Speaking on a stream shared on September 24, Craig Hamilton-Parker, who is also known as ‘Prophet of Doom’, told his YouTube followers a future pandemic of a bacterial illness that attacks the chest was on the way.

He is previously claimed to have accurately predicted the Covid-19 pandemic and the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

His major COVID prediction came in a video published in January 2020, in which he forecast a flu-like pandemic that would start in China and spread worldwide, just months before global lockdowns were introduced.

In a recent video which has had over 160,000 views, he attributed the warning of another ‘pandemic’ to two Tibetan monks who he claimed had arrived unexpectedly at his home with a ‘warning’.

“It would be more like a biological type of illness that would be much harder to control,” he described, adding: “It’s much more dangerous this one because it can spread much more quickly.”

He also said the monks knew of a cure, hidden in ancient Tibetan texts, and that the prophecies say the outbreak would be stopped.

“So if it happens again, guys, rest assured we’re going to conquer it. We’ll beat it,” he told viewers.

Mere weeks later was when news then broke about a lab worker who had died in Russia, sparking fears of a potential outbreak of the pneumonic plague.

Daria Shipilova, a lab technician at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute in Siberia, reportedly came into contact with the pathogen and became unwell.

Some local media outlets reported that Shipilova became infected while at the Institute after ‘breaking a test tube’ containing live biological material that can cause pneumonic plague.

    Daria Shipilova (Facebook)

    Daria Shipilova (Facebook)

This is a condition which affects the lungs, and is one of three different forms of plague, with the other two being bubonic plague and septcaemic, with the bacterium itself being called ‘Yersinia pestis’.

While in hospital Shipilova was placed on a ventilator, but died two after being admitted to the hospital.

Since then, some 189 people have reportedly been quarantined as authorities suspect that they may have come into contact with Shipilova, raising the possibility that they may have been infected with the bacterium.

Among them are other members of staff at the laboratory where Shipilova had been employed as a technician.

Shipilova’s death has prompted fears of a pneumonic plague outbreak, resulting in five hospitals and colleges being placed into lockdown and around 200 people she came into contact with being quarantined.

There have also been accusations that Russian officials are attempting to ‘cover-up’ the situation.

  • Chilling parallels between Russian plague outbreak and how Covid pandemic began

Chilling parallels between Russian plague outbreak and how Covid pandemic began

Experts have highlighted alarming parallels between the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and an outbreak of plague in Russia.

A 28-year-old lab worker named in local media reports as Daria Shipilova is reported to have died of pneumonic plague after accidentally breaking a test tube filled with the bacterium Yersinia pestis, which causes plague.

Shipilova was taken to hospital on 29 September, where she received treatment for pneumonia, but sadly died two days after being admitted.

Almost 200 people are believed to have had contact with Shipilova, and measures are reportedly being put in place to contain the outbreak, though due to suppression of the press in Russia more precise information is difficult to find.

Shipilova had worked at the Antiplague Research Institute of Siberia and the Far East, which is located at the city of Shelekho in the Irkutsk region.

Hamish de Bretton-Gordon was formerly the commanding officer of the Joint Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Regiment in the UK, and warn that Russia’s lack of transparency may mirror that of the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, which started in China.

    Daria Shipilova has died (Facebook)

    Daria Shipilova has died (Facebook)

“The Russian authorities have clammed up and lots of social media posts have been withdrawn,” told The Telegraph. “We know what happened when Covid emerged. The Chinese clammed up, four million people left Wuhan and the disease spread around the world.”

de Bretton-Gordon also raised concerns about the measures which were being put in place at the laboratory as well, saying that there should have been precautions in place to prevent someone in Shipilova’s job being vulnerable to the condition.

“For a lab technician working with plague to die from plague is extraordinary,” he said. “She should have been vaccinated, there should have been medical countermeasures.”

The opacity of the Russian authorities around the incident has also meant that the basic facts around the outbreak are still not clear.

Filippa Lentzos, is a biosecurity expert at King’s College London, and said: “Russian authorities seem to be denying that the woman died of plague or that there was a laboratory accident. So the basic facts are not yet settled.”

Igor Kobzev, the regional governor of Irkutsk, said on Monday that an expert commission found that Shipilova’s cause of death was ‘pneumonia of undetermined aetiology’, adding that the investigation had said that ‘no microorganisms linked to the young woman’s professional work were found in her biological samples’.

All three forms of Plague are caused by the bacterium Yersinia Pestis, though the form of plague varies depending on how it is spread and the part of the body it affects.

Pneumonic Plague is a rare but extremely dangerous form of plague affecting the lungs, with the other two types being Bubonic Plague, which is spread by infected rodent fleas and affects the lymph nodes, and Septicaemic Plague which affects the blood.

While Pneumonic Plague is rarer than Bubonic Plague, UK heath security guidance advises that it is almost always fatal when not properly treated, and even when treatment is started promptly it it fatal around 30 percent of the time.

Pneumonic Plague can be come about as a development from a case of Bubonic Plague, but is more commonly contracted by inhaling infectious particles.

  • Witness to Christa Pike’s execution shares eerie way they all knew she was still alive after curtains closed

Witness to Christa Pike’s execution shares eerie way they all knew she was still alive after curtains closed

One of the members of the media who witnessed the botched execution of Christa Pike says everyone knew she was still alive after the curtains to the execution chamber were closed because they could hear her snoring.

The press are permitted to attend executions and among the group observing it was Catherine Sweeney, who explained in NPR that there were seven reporters invited to watch and cover the death penalty being carried out.

Pike was expected to enter the execution chamber at 10am, but proceedings were delayed by a stay of execution and it was around 6pm when the press were told they could enter their viewing area, which had loudspeakers connected to microphones inside the chamber.

Windows looking into the execution chamber have curtains which are drawn to hide the identities of the people who attach the IV and administer the lethal injection.

Sweeney, who had attended executions before, explained that typically witnesses will be sat with the curtains closed for between 10 and 15 minutes while the IV line is set up.

The execution team then goes into a hidden chamber where they cannot be seen but can administer the drugs from, the reporter explained that in Pike’s case it was about 45 minutes with the curtain closed and the microphones turned off.

“After half an hour, it was clear the IV team must have been struggling,” she wrote.

At 7:27pm the curtain was drawn back and they could see Christa Pike on the gurney, facing the other viewing room where prosecutors and the family of the victim sit.

Also in the room was Mikey Noechel, her spiritual advisor, who is allowed to be in the execution chamber as the lethal injection is administered.

Pike said her arm was burning and asked if it was normal, with Sweeney noting that the lethal injection drug is an alkaline that ‘burns like drain cleaner if it touches skin’ but such a feeling was unlikely if the IV was correctly administered.

The reporter explained that Pike and Noechel were speaking ‘for what seemed a shocking amount of time’, and that a few minutes after the drugs are administered prisoners tend to show signs of being sedated.

In Tennessee they use the rather abnormal practice of putting a rock on a platform which signals it will be five minutes before they close the curtains and a doctor comes in to pronounce the executed prisoner dead.

The rock was placed at 7:41pm and by 7:44pm Pike was still awake and speaking to Noechel, which was the point Sweeney was convinced ‘something was very wrong’.

After the five minutes the curtain closed and Noechel was sent to the witness bay, but then he was asked to return to the execution chamber, a sign that they were going to attempt the execution again with the curtain opening again.

“Pike stopped talking. She started snoring,” Sweeney said of the second attempt to administer the lethal injection.

“She continued to snore after the rock was put out the second time and the curtain closed again. We continued to hear her snore over the loudspeaker.”

The curtain closed again at 8:16pm and the reporters ‘listened to Pike’s snoring for 40 minutes’, until at 8:53pm when they were told to leave.

When they went out they could see emergency vehicles arriving and one left with its sirens on, a sign that Pike was still alive.

The death row inmate has since been hospitalised, with her lawyers saying she is still on life support.

  • Prince William and Kate’s children ditch their royal titles for surprisingly casual school names

Prince William and Kate’s children ditch their royal titles for surprisingly casual school names

Prince William and Princess Kate’s three children reportedly ditch their formal titles for something a little more casual while at school.

Being part of the British monarchy means Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are some of the most famous kids in the world, but it seems when they’re at school they’d rather not stand out.

According to Hello! magazine, this means that the trio drop the Prince and Princess titles and instead simply go by George Wales, Charlotte Wales and Louis Wales at school.

The surname Wales is, of course, a nod to their parents’ titles as Prince and Princess of Wales, which they were given following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.

The children’s monikers follow part of a long-standing tradition in the royal family.

Both their dad William and uncle Prince Harry used the surname Wales as school, because their dad – the now-King Charles – was the Prince of Wales at the time.

Prior to using the last name Wales, the children were called George Cambridge, Charlotte Cambridge and Louis Cambridge – again, in a nod to their parents’ former titles of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince Harry’s children follow the same tradition

Much like their cousins, Harry’s children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet use the surname Sussex.

Harry and wife Meghan have the titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex and, in-keeping with that same time-honoured tradition, use it as their last name.

When the children were born, they were named Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor but when they became a Prince and Princess the surname was dropped.

The royal family’s website states: “The Queen’s descendants, other than those with the style of Royal Highness and the title of Prince/Princess or female descendants who marry, would carry the name of Mountbatten-Windsor.”

Last year, Meghan confirmed her name and her children’s names on her Netflix show With Love Meghan.

Speaking to pal Mindy Kahling, she said: “It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now.

“I share my name with my children. I didn’t know how meaningful that would be to me, but it just means so much to go, ‘This is our family name, our little family name.’”

She then addressed the discourse around her and her kids’ names in an interview with PEOPLE, explaining: “It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognised how meaningful that would be to me until we had children. I love that that is something about Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me.”

She went on to say that the name Sussex had become part of her ‘love story’ with husband Harry.

“I think as the kids get older, they’re so excited about, ‘Oh my gosh, Mama and Papa, how did you meet?’ I think that will come with time as they get older, but for right now a huge part of our love story is that we share the name Sussex,” she added.

  • Kemi Badenoch promises £10 billion ‘Britannia Shield’ to protect UK from missile and drone attack

Kemi Badenoch promises £10 billion ‘Britannia Shield’ to protect UK from missile and drone attack

The UK is to be protected by an ‘Iron Dome’ defence designed to prevent air attack, Tory leader Kemi Badenoch has promised.

Under the £10 billion system – which has been called ‘Britannia Shield’ – Army bases, nuclear sites, power plants and population centres will be protected from rockets and drones launched against Britain by its enemies, reports the Daily Mail.

There would be a network of command and control communication systems, radar, interceptors and anti-drone hardware – much like that already used by Israel.

The Conservatives argue the proposed system is needed because Labour has failed to spend the target 3 percent of GDP on defence, leaving the country open to attack by nations such as Iran and Russia, they argue.

Mrs Badenoch said, “The world will not wait for Britain to get ready. War has returned to Europe. Missiles and drones are transforming warfare in the Middle East. Cheap weapons can now threaten cities, military bases and critical infrastructure in ways that would have sounded like science fiction a generation ago.

“If a missile or drone is launched at Britain, we do not get a second chance to wish we had prepared.

“That is why we are announcing Britannia Shield: a new national missile-and-drone defence system to protect the whole United Kingdom, our sovereign territories and British bases overseas.”

The promise made at the Conservative Party Conference being held in Birmingham this week, comes as tensions between Russia and the West continue to heighten.

On Monday Russian drones targeted Moldova when projectiles from a Russian attack on Ukraine hit a bus carrying passengers across the border.

Kaja Kallas, EU foreign policy chief said: “Europe has seen a spike in the Russian hybrid attacks and sabotage attempts and airspace violations in recent weeks.

“Russian missiles and drones violated Moldovan airspace again over the weekend. This is completely unacceptable.”

The Tories have promised to fund a £10 billion increase in defence spending each year they are in government through cuts to welfare – and believe the new shield could be operational within five years of a Conservative government.

The pledge follows a Commons defence committee found last year that Britain had ‘next to nothing’ when compared to other NATO countries when it came to air defence.

The current chief of the British army said the country needs to be ready to fight a land war, and that could mean a 'citizen army' where members of the public are trained.

James Cartlidge, Tory defence spokesman, added: “With a £10 billion budget, this would be one of Britain’s most significant military programmes since the Cold War.

“But one that is totally necessary because of the threats we face. And only possible because of our willingness to take the tough decisions to fund defence.”

A Labour spokesman said: “Andy Burnham’s Labour government is delivering the biggest sustained increase in defence spending since the Cold War. Keeping Britain safe is the first priority of this Government.”

  • Why Christa Pike is on life support despite being sentenced to death

Why Christa Pike is on life support despite being sentenced to death

Christa Pike remains on life support in hospital with specialists keeping her alive – despite spending three decades on death row.

It followed a fail execution attempt of the killer which has made repeated headlines since she was taken to hospital following the incident on 30 September.

Pike, now aged 50, was due to become the first woman put to death in Tennessee in two centuries after being sent to prison for the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer.

She had spent three decades on death row awaiting her fate before she survived two doses of the lethal injection.

Her lawyer said her future now remains uncertain as doctors attempt to clear two doses of pentobarbital from her body.

Pike reportedly ‘remains critically ill‘ and is being treated at a hospital in Nashville, Texas, with her legal team claiming she ‘may not fully recover’.

Her lawyer Stephen Ferrel told CNN of her current status: “She is guarded. I’m not sure who may have seen her.

“I know I have not seen her. The state of Tennessee has not yet said whether it will ultimately try to execute her again.”

    Reason for life-saving treatment

With the convicted killer remaining on a ventilator, questions are being raised as to why she is still receiving life-saving medical care despite the execution attempts and her death penalty sentence.

But this is because the death sentence had been imposed by the courts, with her execution authorised to be carried out only at the Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center, where she was imprisoned.

Constitutional attorney David Raybin, who helped write the Tennessee death penalty statute, told Fox 17, “She is in a situation where the government itself is responsible for failing to execute her properly; they bear the consequences.

Christa Pike (Tennessee Department of Corrections)

“The death sentence was imposed by a court, but it was to be done at the prison.

“They can not ‘execute’ her at a hospital by removing her life support. That would be murder.”

Gov. Bill Lee has since halted the one remaining execution for the rest of the year in Tennessee pending an investigation.

And Tennessee’s prisons chief resigned after the failed execution of Pike on 30 September.

Frank Strada has stepped down from his post after Pike’s lethal injection attempts went wrong, leading to her to be taken to hospital where she remains ‘critical’.

Strada will leave his role this month after being the residing commissioner of Tennessee’s Department of Correction for the past three years, and also in the role when the May execution of Tony Carruthers, was called off due to problems finding a vein for his lethal injection.

Pike has been locked up since 1996 after killing her classmate, Colleen Slemmer, when she was 18 at the time. She had allegedly killed Slemmer in Knoxville in a jealous rage.

Prosecutors also said a pentagram was carved on Slemmer’s body, and that Pike took a piece of her skull with her as a souvenir following the killing.

  • Christa Pike’s failed execution sparks calls for controversial death penalty method

Christa Pike’s failed execution sparks calls for controversial death penalty method

The failure of the State of Tennessee to execute Christa Pike by lethal injection has led to calls from some politicians to bring back the firing squad.

Pike, 50, has been hospitalised following her botched execution attempt as the woman the state was trying to kill then underwent life-saving measures after she was administered the double dose of a deadly chemical but did not die.

Congressman Tim Burchett has called for state lawmakers to give the firing squad the go-ahead, arguing it was ‘a hundred percent effective’ as a method of execution and adding ‘it’s that or hanging’.

Since Pike’s failed execution some politicians in Tennessee have suggested they may look at other methods of execution in the future, including the firing squad or the electric chair.

Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton told Fox 17: “That may be a possibility in the future. So, we’re going to look at all alternatives, and we’re going to look at all 50 states to see what they do but we’re going to come up with solutions to this situation.”

Sexton also suggested that ‘maybe even that we remove lethal injection’ as an execution method.

There have been several botched executions in Tennessee in recent years, and the state’s prisons chief has resigned from his role after the failed execution of Christa Pike.

Frank Strada had been the commissioner of Tennessee’s Department of Correction for three years, during which time there were the botched attempts to execute Pike and Tony Carruthers by lethal injection.

The firing squad is a very rare method of execution, until Brad Sigmon was executed by one last year in South Carolina there had been no firing squad executions in the US since 2001.

Shortly afterwards fellow South Carolina inmate Mikal Mahdi was executed by firing squad and there were accusations that the executioners ‘botched’ it as his attorneys argued that he was shot lower than intended and the bullets hit him in the abdomen rather than the heart.

They also alleged that Mahdi wasn’t pronounced dead until four minutes after he’d been shot.

South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC) ‘strongly refuted’ the claims and insisted all three bullets ‘struck Mahdi’s heart’, but the firing squad remains as controversial an execution method as the rest of the ways of carrying out the death penalty.

Idaho, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Utah are currently the only US states that use the firing squad to carry out a death penalty.

What happens in the future for Christa Pike remains to be seen but her former lawyer James Crowson told LADbible that if the failed execution attempt has caused brain damage to the 50-year-old and ‘she doesn’t know what’s going on’ then there won’t be a second attempt.

The lawyer explained that executions are banned if an inmate is mentally incompetent and doesn’t understand the reason why they’re being put to death

Crowson also argued against the death penalty in general, saying: “Nobody, certainly not Christa Pike and not even the state of Tennessee, should be allowed to take someone’s life.

“The outcome of this attempted execution shows it’s difficult to walk the fine line between properly punishing someone who did something horrific and not violating the constitutional prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment.”

Tennessee has put all scheduled executions on pause for the time being.

  • Christa Pike was convicted of another heinous crime while in prison that most people don’t know about

Christa Pike was convicted of another heinous crime while in prison that most people don’t know about

While already on Tennessee’s death row for the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer, Christa Pike was involved in a second serious act of violence.

According to the Tennessee Department of Correction, while incarcerated, Pike was convicted of attempted first degree murder in the assault on inmate Patricia Jones in 2001.

Court docs from the Court of Criminal Appeals state that the incident took place at the Tennessee Prison for Women, now known as the Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center.

Because of a fire in the prison’s maximum-security unit, several inmates were evacuated from their cells.

After Pike, Patricia Jones and another prisoner, Natasha Cornett, were placed together in a recreation cage, an argument developed between Jones and Cornett.

Jones testified that Cornett attempted to strike her but missed. As Jones prepared to fight Cornett, Pike came up behind Jones and began choking her. Jones eventually lost consciousness.

The evidence presented at Pike’s later trial indicated that Pike used a heavy shoe or boot lace to strangle Jones.

Prosecutors argued that the attack amounted to a premeditated attempt to kill her, as Pike disputed that interpretation, maintaining that she had intervened to protect Cornett from Jones.

Court records discussed recorded telephone conversations made after the attack, and in one conversation with her mother, Pike said that she had ‘premeditated the hell out of this’.

Evidence also indicated that Pike believed Jones would have died had the strangulation continued for approximately another thirty seconds.

These statements supported the prosecution’s argument that Pike intended to kill Jones rather than merely stop a fight.

Jones survived the attack and Pike was convicted of attempted first-degree premeditated murder, receiving an additional 25-year prison sentence.

But any second execution attempt could face significant constitutional challenges, according to Charley Dugdale, Associate Head of Law and Associate Professor at St Mary’s University Twickenham.

“If she survives and becomes medically stable, she would remain under her existing death sentence unless it was overturned or commuted. At the time of writing, her precise medical condition has not been publicly confirmed,” she tells LADbible.

“The execution date set by the Tennessee Supreme Court has now passed. Tennessee could not simply return Pike to the execution chamber whenever it chose.

“A new execution date would need to be lawfully set by the Tennessee Supreme Court before the state could make another attempt, and it would be difficult to seek another date before the comprehensive third-party review was completed. Given the unusual circumstances, the precise procedure may itself become the subject of legal argument.”

At the age of 18, she carried out what a judge called the ‘horrific’ and ‘brutal’ murder of Colleen Slemmer in Knoxville in 1995.

Pike and two friends lured the 19-year-old into the woods, where they beat, tortured, and killed her. Pike was sentenced to death when she was 20 a year later.

Tennessee Supreme Court docs obtained by news.com.au state that Pike ‘told her friend Kim Iloilo, who was also a student at the facility, that she intended to kill another student, Colleen Slemmer, because she ‘had just felt mean that day’.

“Pike went to Iloilo’s room and told Iloilo that she had just killed Slemmer and that she had brought back a piece of the victim’s skull as a souvenir,” the documents state.

“Pike said that a pentagram had been carved onto the victim’s forehead and chest. Iloilo said that Pike was dancing in a circle, smiling, and singing ‘la, la, la’ while she related these details about the murder.

“When Iloilo saw Pike at breakfast the next morning she asked Pike what she had done with the piece of the victim’s skull. Pike replied that it was in her pocket and then said, ‘And, yes, I’m eating breakfast with it’.”
