  • Kim Kardashian says she was single for ‘years’ as she opens up on dating life after Kanye West

Kim Kardashian says she was single for ‘years’ as she opens up on dating life after Kanye West

Kim Kardashian has opened up about being single for ‘years’ before starting her relationship with Lewis Hamilton.

Kardashian sat down for an interview with the Times’ Style Magazine and revealed that when she split from Kanye West in 2021 she ‘was really single for five years’, with the exception of dating comedian Pete Davidson for a few months.

“I really felt no rush. Like, I really didn’t feel empty. I felt like I needed my time,” she said.

Kardashian, 45, said that it was ‘great’ to take a break from dating, saying that this gave her the opportunity to ‘focus on [her] kids and projects that [she] really wanted to be involved with’.

This also gave her time to ‘completely heal’ and ‘just work on’ herself after separating from West, saying: “I wanted to completely heal and just work on myself.

“I wasn’t ready to open up. I really wasn’t even thinking about it. The universe works in your favor when you just allow it to.”

Kardashian has now confirmed that she is in a relationship with Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, a romance which she has not formally spoken about, though the pair have been frequently spotted together.

This has included romantic holidays in Paris, as well as family trips to tropical destinations, as well as Kardashian appearing to ‘hard launch’ her relationship with Hamilton with some pictures of a bike ride they took together.

Hamilton previously spoke about how it’s ‘amazing’ to have Kardashian’s support after he came second in the Monaco Grand Prix.

Fans spotted Hamilton, who drives for Ferrari, blowing Kardashian a kiss in the crowd as he went to collect his trophy.

“It is amazing to have her come this weekend and to have that support,” he said after the race, in the first public comments he has made about their relationship.

“It is amazing to have good people around you, good people supporting you, and she does that for me every day.”

However, Kardashian ended up catching flack over her response to Sky Sports Formula 1 reporter and former F1 driver Martin Brundle, who is highly respected in the F1 world, trying to get a few words from her prior to the event, only to be met with stony silence.

Brundle approached Kardashian to try and get a word, saying to viewers: “What could possibly go wrong?”

He approached her and introduced himself, saying: “Kim, Martin Brundle, Sky F1, how are you today?”

However, Kardashian responded just by staring blankly at him, before awkwardly giving him a small wave.

Unperturbed, Brundle persisted, explaining: “Normally people have a quick chat with us.”

But this was unsuccessful as well, with Kim and Khloe Kardashian being escorted away.

“Kim and Khloe aren’t talking today,” said Brundle, quipping: “Allegedly, they might do later.”

Fans were not impressed with the reaction, wondering how she had not been briefed prior to the event about the possibility that she would be asked to say a few words.

“No one is bigger than the sport!” one fan wrote. “She’s also representing one of the greats. It’s not hard to give a few words of your first impression to the entire F1 world.”

  • Simulation shows what actually happens inside your body when you swallow chewing gum

Simulation shows what actually happens inside your body when you swallow chewing gum

A simulation has shown what actually happens if you swallow chewing gum, and it’s not pretty.

It’s a warning that many of us were given as teenagers, whether from parents, teachers trying to deter chewing gum, or on the grapevine at school – don’t swallow your chewing gum, because it will stay in your stomach for seven years.

Horror stories also circulated about people who kept swallowing gum, which then built up in their bodies over time.

But what would actually happen if you were to swallow a piece of gum?

Well, while swallowing it every time is not a good idea, the good news is that if you accidentally swallow your chewing gum then your body knows how to deal with it.

The video was shared to YouTube by the account @Simplihowww, has an animated clip of a man swallowing gum.

It then goes to an internal view of the man’s stomach, where the gum begins to bubble and fizz in the stomach acid, leaving just the core.

Parts of the gum are digestible, but not all (YouTube/SimpliHow)

Parts of the gum are digestible, but not all (YouTube/SimpliHow)

A voiceover explains that some parts of the gum are digestible, for example any flavourings or some additives which are put into the gum.

In fact, this is how things like nicotine gum allow the chemical to pass into the body.

However, the base of the gum itself is not digested, the video explained, as it shows how the gum passes through the intestine.

But unlike all those terrifying warnings about gum staying in your stomach for seven long years, it showed that this is not what happens if you do swallow your gum.

The truth is far more predictable, and pretty obvious once you think about it.

Your body actually just treats a piece of chewing gum like anything else you swallow which it can’t digest – it goes through your intestine, and eventually comes out the other end.

Our bodies often have things that we can’t process or draw nutrients from,, and getting rid of them is literally the main reason that we poo.

So gum is just like any other matter the body expels, and the video explains that after a couple of days or so the gum will just come out when you go to the toilet.

The gum is expelled just like any other waste (YouTube/SimpliHow)

The gum is expelled just like any other waste (YouTube/SimpliHow)

Nonetheless there have been some rare cases where swallowing gum has led to some health problems, however this is more extreme – if you swallow your gum by accident once or twice this is probably not going to be a cause for concern.

One boy however did get some problems when he started eating chewing gum on purpose, blocking up his digestive tract as a result.

The boy began to complain that he was experiencing pain in his abdomen as well as diarrhoea, with doctors then finding that he had a large mass of chewing gum in his stomach.

Medics had to remove the gum by placing a metal tube down the boy’s throat and bringing the gum up that way, and it took ‘several passes’ to get all of the gob of gum out.

With that in mind, it’s probably best to not make a habit out of swallowing chewing gum – just make sure you throw it away properly and don’t stick it under the desks or tables.

  • Terrifying simulation shows what happens if you get trapped in a water slide

Terrifying simulation shows what happens if you get trapped in a water slide

If you’re even in the position where you’re visiting a water park and get stuck in one of the various rides, then there’s a simulation you can use to get yourself out of a pickle.

Zack D Films is a YouTuber who has been making simulations of every situation you could ever think of, and for years.

He’s done historic torture methods, swallowing alcohol, Ozempic, and more.

However, it’s his water slide simulation that we’re talking about today.

There’s something about being unable to move in an enclosed, wet, space that you know is going to lead to a scary collision with another person if you don’t think fast.

It’s not common, but it’s almost like a helpless situation where you have to wriggle, or wait until the inevitable.

What a nightmare (Getty Stock Images)

What a nightmare (Getty Stock Images)

But Zack has revealed your options if you want to break free.

In his simulation, which shows a man attempting to flee a water slide, there is a major way you could potentially use to escape your situation.

He revealed in the clip that first, there’s one thing not to do.

He said: “If you’re stuck in a water slide that’s filing up with water, most people think they should try to climb back up. But the slippery surface makes this nearly impossible.”

He added: “Instead, focus on staying calm and try to create space for air by tilting your head back. If water keeps rising, use your hands to push yourself forward. If you can’t move, brace yourself as the water fills the slide entirely. Once the pressure equalises, you may be able to push forward and float to safety.”

From there, the video shows the man sliding back to safety, with the water dispersing into the wider pool.

According to the Water Incident Research Hub, a 20-year cross-sectional study of the US National Electronic Injury Surveillance System found there had been 1,823 injury reports involving waterslides, including 725 on garden waterslides, and 1,098 on public waterslides.

According to the study, the most common diagnosis was laceration (28.4%) and internal organ injury (27.2%), however, 75 per cent of cases involved injury to the head and face.

    Well, that’s creepy.

Anyway, in the comments, people were rightly afraid of the scenario.

One person wrote: “’Stay Calm’, nah bro I would die on the spot because of the lack of space.”

Another said: “New fear unlocked; thanks Zack!”

Someone else said: “Claustrophobia would definitely kill me.”

However, one person shared their real-life story of a moment where they really were stuck in a water slide.

They wrote: “To everyone who hasn’t experienced this, I was once stuck in a water slide. I tried to slide down, but I was stuck in a slide that was pitch black. I couldn’t see any light, so I was scared. Eventually, I panicked, so I tried to stay calm and just… lay. I can approve this way works, as I had maken it out in ~2 minutes.”

    So, maybe Zack is right?

Either way, you wouldn’t catch me relaxing for long as the wait time between freedom and another slider crashing into me got shorter and shorter.

  • Prison chief who oversaw five botched executions including Christa Pikes’ resigns

Prison chief who oversaw five botched executions including Christa Pikes’ resigns

Tennessee’s prisons chief has resigned after the failed execution of Christa Pike on 30 September.

Frank Strada has stepped down from his post after Pike’s lethal injection attempts went wrong, leading to her to be taken to hospital where she remains ‘critical’.

Strada will leave his role this month after being the residing commissioner of Tennessee’s Department of Correction for the past three years, and also in the role when the May execution of Tony Carruthers, was called off due to problems finding a vein for his lethal injection.

Last year in October, the lawyer of convicted child killer Byron Black alleged he showed signs of ‘sustained cardiac activity’ two minutes after he was pronounced dead after his execution.

Prior to his death, Black had a defibrillator implanted in his chest, which was the topic of concern for his legal team and the implications for a complication-free passing.

Similarly, Pike’s legal team petitioned to stop her execution months before it was scheduled to go ahead due to her apparent thin veins and blood clotting disorder, which an expert recently described as being what potentially stopped her from dying even after the 50-year-old was given two doses of pentobarbital, a lethal drug.

Shortly after Pike’s failed execution, an independent review was launched to find out what happened, per state governor Bill Lee.

Currently, Pike is on a ventilator and unconscious, her lawyers say, with burns to her arms due to the effects of the legal injections.

In a statement, Strada called his resignation ‘the best interest of Tennesseans’.

“I believe this review is entirely appropriate and necessary, and I look forward to doing everything I can to help determine exactly what occurred,” he added of the review.

However, per Sky News, Pikes legal team said his resignation ‘does nothing to help Christa now’, adding: “What happened to her Wednesday reflects a systemic failure that goes far beyond any one person.

“We hope the governor’s call for a full, independent review will expose the profound problems within Tennessee’s entire death penalty system.”

Strada took over the department in January 2023 after serving as deputy director of the Arizona Department of Correction – where similar concerns were made.

Under Strada, there had been three botched Arizona executions.

This includes the May 2022 execution of Clarence Dixon, the June 2022 execution of Frank Atwood, and the November 2022 execution of Murray Hooper.

All allegedly were botched due to troubles finding a suitable vein to insert the drug.

Also under Strada, the Guardian reports Tennessee removed a key training requirement for those who inject the lethal injections, per Kit Thomas, a death row attorney.

Thomas said: “No IV is inserted into the person playing the role of the inmate. He reduced the training requirements and we’ve seen disastrous results.

He added. “He oversaw executions in Arizona which involved prolonged, torturous attempts to establish IV lines, and he brought a similar practice here.”

Strada went on to change its lethal injection protocol one year after his hiring, and instead of a three-drug injection, they would only use pentobarbital.

Pike has been the only woman on death row in Tennessee for 30 years and was set to become the first to be executed in the state in over 200 years.

She was convicted in 1996 of killing her classmate, Colleen Slemmer, and ever since her date was set, Pike’s legal team have tried time and time again to stop the planned death from occurring.

Pike was 18 at the time when she was convicted of killing Slemmer, with her then-boyfriend, 17-year-old Tadaryl Shipp.

    She was sentenced to death.

  • Footballer Andy Carroll names celebrity Kevin Adams as man who sexually assaulted him

Footballer Andy Carroll names celebrity Kevin Adams as man who sexually assaulted him

Andy Carroll has named former Fame Academy dance teacher Kevin Adams as the man who abused him in 2021.

The former Newcastle United star revealed that a male celebrity had sexually assaulted him five years ago in his new memoir Owning It: In My Own Words, but declined to name the man in question.

Now, an investigation by The Sun has revealed that Adams, best known for his work as a dancing coach on the short-lived BBC series, was the man in question – which Carroll has since verified.

Speaking to the outlet after learning that Adams’ name was publicly available in court records, Carroll gave the following statement: “Now that Kevin Adams has been named in court documents as my abuser, I can confirm it.

“Hopefully now I can finally start to put this chapter behind me.”

Carroll went on to ask the public not to share images of Adam alongside him, adding that he doesn’t want to be reminded of him every time the story comes up.

“I just ask that people don’t constantly share pictures of my abuser alongside me,” he said.

“I don’t want to keep seeing his face or being reminded of him every time this story is spoken about. I’m ready to move forward. This had a devastating impact on my life and loved ones.”

Adams, now 59, was found guilty of sexually assaulting Carroll in September 2023 at Chelmsford Crown Court and jailed for 20 months. He was also instructed to put his name on the sex offender register for 10 years and stay away from the village where Carroll lived.

Carroll opened up about the impact the assault had on him and his family in his memoir, writing that it was ‘humiliating and horrendous’ to have to give evidence against him in court.

The 37-year-old explained that he’d gone to bed after having a ‘few drinks’ before waking up to Adams, described in the book as a ‘celebrity pal’, sexually assaulting him.

Reflecting on the trauma the assault left him with, Carroll wrote: “What happened to me affected every facet of my life.

“I’d think about it every day, making it difficult to focus on anything else, including football… The trauma of what happened to me hasn’t gone away.”

During her sentencing remarks, Judge Mary Loram accused Adams of believing his own lies when it came to the incident, telling him: “You spun a literally incredible tale in which you painted yourself as the victim.

“In your narrative, you were the put-upon reluctant friend doing no more than helping out.

“The end of your unbelievable tale was that you were the victim of the most serious sexual assaults yourself.

“However incredible your account, it seems to me that you’ve actually started to believe your own lies.”

Adams has since set all of his social media accounts to private since the news broke.

LADbible has approached representatives of both Andy Carroll and Kevin Adams for comment.

  • Gypsy-Rose Blanchard opened up on ideal wedding with  Ken Urker months before his tragic death

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard opened up on ideal wedding with  Ken Urker months before his tragic death

Gypsy Rose Blanchard had spoken about her ideal wedding to Ken Urker just months before he died at the age of 34.

Blanchard, 35, spoke to TMZ back in May, opening up about her plans for her wedding, and saying that she did not want it to be ‘quick’.

“I don’t want to have a quick wedding,” she said, “I want to have the big wedding.”

Blanchard had previously married Ryan Anderson in 2022 while still serving out her prison sentence for the second-degree murder of her mother Clauddine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard, though she would go on to separate from Anderson.

Now, Blanchard had said that after her first wedding was behind bars she wanted the next one to be a big wedding.

“I want to have the poofy dress, I want to have the family there, because my first marriage, I got married in the visitation room by the bathroom of a prison,” Blanchard told TMZ previously, adding: “I deserve my wedding.”

Blanchard also previously spoke about feeling a pressure to get married, saying: “I feel like I don’t feel pressure from him, he doesn’t feel pressure from me, so we don’t pressure each other, but I feel like the world does.”

She added: “I feel like the world is just asking that question nonstop and it kind of sucks because, you know, what happens if we are one of those couples who, you know — we don’t want to get married right away. We don’t want to rush it.”

Urker had met Blanchard after seeing an HBO docuseries Mommy Dead and Dearest in 2017, and wrote a letter to Blanchard while she was in prison supporting her.

He would then propose to her in 2018, but they separated a year later. When Blanchard’s relationship with Anderson broke down, Blanchard and Urker reconciled.

They have a daughter together, Aurora, who was born in December 2024.

On 1 October 2026 Urker was found unresponsive at a residence in Louisiana at the age of 34.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Urker had died, saying that officers had ‘responded to a residence’ when they received a called at 6:15pm.

A statement released by the authorities after Urker’s death said that he was ‘found dead upon arrival’.

“At this time, we are continuing the death investigation,” it added.

Us obtained a report from Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office which said that in an interview that Anita Blanchard, the wife of Blanchard’s half brother Dylan Blanchard, had made a call to 911 after Urker did not answer either his phone or the front door of his apartment when she, Dylan, and Urker’s boss Justin Daigle when to check in on him.

During the call, Anita reportedly told the 911 dispatcher that Dylan and Daigle entered the residence through a window after moving some blinds, and found Urker ‘cold to the touch’ and unconscious.

The report added: “They stated Mr. Urker made comments of being depressed and upset.”

Blanchard has also released a statement after Urker’s death, telling PEOPLE: “I’m in disbelief. I can’t think. I’ve screamed until my throat burns.”

She added: “He was not in a good state of mind lately.”

Woman given antibiotics for ‘tonsillitis’ discovers she actually has leukaemia

A young woman who developed a rare form of blood cancer has shared her story as a reminder for others to stay on top of their health.

When Rowan Bland developed a sore throat last year, she was diagnosed with tonsillitis after a visit to her doctor and was prescribed a course of antibiotics.

With symptoms which often resemble the flu, tonsillitis lasts around a week and impacts up to millions of Brits each year.

However, Rowan’s symptoms did not ease up, with the 28-year-old developing random bruises across her body as well as bleeding gums and blood blisters in her mouth.

The creative writing student also suffered from extreme fatigue, meaning that she often felt dizzy when walking, as well as clusters of rashes and extremely heavy periods.

Rowan was sent for further blood tests for suspected glandular fever – only to be diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL), a rare form of acute myeloid leukaemia.

For weeks, Rowan believed her acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL) was tonsillitis (SWNS)

For weeks, Rowan believed her acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL) was tonsillitis (SWNS)

Reflecting on the life-changing diagnosis, the Edinburgh native explained that she hadn’t previously known anything about the disease, which is a group of blood cancers which attack the white blood cells in your bone marrow.

“I was pretty happy with the assumption of glandular fever because a lot of unspecified illness in people my age, I thought, kind of tracks,” she said, adding that she’d believed the misconception that ‘leukaemia is for babies’.

“And cancer is always like a lump. That was my mindset.”

She added: “Just because you’re young, it doesn’t mean you can’t get a serious illness. I was a bit naive in my health. I just took it for that.”

Once diagnosed, the cancer is considered highly treatable, with the 28-year-old now in remission (SWNS)

Once diagnosed, the cancer is considered highly treatable, with the 28-year-old now in remission (SWNS)

“I was feeling worse and worse.”

Informed by doctors that she was seriously ill, Rowan was transferred to the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre in Glasgow the following day after arriving in A&E for further diagnositc tests.

It was revealed that her blood counts were extremely low and she immediately needed blood and platelet transfusions.

She would remain in hospital for around six to seven weeks, undergoing treatments such as induction treatment, intravenous arsenic and ATRA tablets every day.

Despite complications such as sepsis and blood clots, the treatment worked, and Rowan was now in remission, meaning that she was allowed to undergo six months of chemotherapy as an outpatient.

She completed the cycle in November 2025, with a subsequent bone marrow biopsy in January revealing that she had no evidence of the disease. Rowan now has monthly blood tests to monitor her health.

Rowan has since taken up running and wants to raise awareness about cancer in young people (SWNS)

“If you feel like something isn’t right, you need to push harder.”

Still in remission, Rowan says the diagnosis has left her feeling like a ‘completely different person’. She has since completed a 5K Race for Life in Glasgow, is currently training for a 10K and hopes to raise awareness about cancer in young people.

“If you feel like something isn’t right, you need to push harder,” she said. “I would just tell people to really push for things like blood tests.

“I went undiagnosed for over a month and that could have ended very badly for me.”

  • Postman hits out at ‘bitter snitch’ after Royal Mail suspending him for filming TikToks on job

Postman hits out at ‘bitter snitch’ after Royal Mail suspending him for filming TikToks on job

A former postman who was suspended for creating TikTok videos while on the job has accused Royal Mail of trying to ‘control [his] social media usage’.

UK postie Daniel Ginty had built an online following by sharing light-hearted and funny videos relating to his job on social media, which he believed to be completely harmless.

However, the 31-year-old received a warning from his employer over a video he’d posted in February this year, which saw him recount a funny encounter after a person opened the door while he was posting a letter.

Ginty says he had clarified in the video that he was on his break at the time, noting that the engine in his van was turned off and his seatbelt wasn’t on because ‘obviously I wasn’t driving’.

“It was fairly obvious I was stationary,” he said of the clip. “There was no evidence at all that suggested I was driving or anything, it was crazy.”

After being sent home for a 24-hour ‘cooling-off period’ – due to claims that he was driving in the video – Ginty made a follow-up video, which he says Royal Mail bosses asked him to delete. He later decided to delete the account altogether.

Explaining why he made the second video, the father-of-two said: “I made a video after that one explaining why I got sent home, I couldn’t believe it.

“There was nothing inappropriate or offensive in the video.”

Speculating as to how the video reached his bosses, Ginty added that he believes it was shared with management by another employee who ‘obviously didn’t like [him]’.

Fast forward to June and Ginty would once again find himself in hot water with his employer, this time being suspended over alleged ‘wilful delay of mail’.

He disputes the claim, deciding to reactivate his account and make a video documenting his experience – which he was again asked to delete.

However, Ginty refused to do so and instead handed in his notice, saying that he’d felt ‘controlled’ by his bosses.

Responding to Ginty's claims, a spokesperson for Royal Mail said:

“I felt like I was in a controlling relationship and they were trying to control everything I did,” he said.

“I’m not a nasty person and I’m not trying to slander the company, I felt like I was getting pushed into a corner.”

The dad maintained that he hadn’t posted the videos with the intention of criticising the company but instead wanted to share his own personal experience, adding: “At the end of the day I’ve posted these videos but I’ve not said ‘I hate Royal Mail, nobody join Royal Mail’.

“I’ve literally just shared my experience and unfortunately it’s gone viral and people are siding with me. That wasn’t even my aim.”

Responding to the incident, a spokesperson for Royal Mail declined to comment on individual employment matters but suggested that disciplinary action taken against Ginty was ‘broader and included wider conduct and social media concerns’.

“We take employment matters seriously and have processes in place to ensure they are handled appropriately and fairly,” the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, Ginty is now unemployed and has decided to share his story as he believes he was treated unfairly. “It’s put me and my family in a very vulnerable state, I’ve not got any source of income now,” he said.

Even though he had to resign from his job, Ginty is, however, ‘really happy’ that he stuck to his principles, adding: “I’m really happy that I did stand my ground and share that. If you see or hear something that you think is wrong, you have to speak up and talk about it.

“The whole point of it is to just spread awareness. I’m really shocked that they’d try to control my social media usage.”

LADbible has approached Royal Mail for further comment.

  • Pet owners issued urgent warning for incoming ‘Godzilla’ El Niño

Pet owners issued urgent warning for incoming ‘Godzilla’ El Niño

Pet owners may need to make some preparations from now until the giant El Niño impacts the UK, with experts weighing in on the potential issues that could arise if not.

According to Newsweek, the weather event has a 75 per cent chance of becoming a historically strengthened occurrence between the October-to-December period.

There’s also the case that it is continuing to evolve as time progresses, with the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres revealing in a statement: “El Niño is being supersized before our eyes. The science leaves no room for doubt: the planet is in uncharted waters, and those waters are heating up.”

Considering our furry friends aren’t typically fans of extreme weather, there are a few things you can do to make the change easier on them.

The weather event is set to impact the world in various ways (Getty Stock Images)

And it’s not always the feeling of the weather that’s dangerous to your pets, it’s how it affects their medications.

If you don’t know what an El Niño is, it occurs when ocean temperatures in the central and eastern tropical Pacific become unusually warm, causing global weather events such as droughts, floods, and more.

According to Petco, El Niño-causing milder and warmer winters can mean that fleas and ticks don’t go dormant, as the temperatures remain high enough for them to thrive.

Bringing the humidity into the equation, and the pet brand says it’s the perfect environment for insects to breed.

So, fleas and ticks will live longer, meaning your five-to-seven-month flea and tick season turns into a year-round threat.

If you miss treatment for your pet, they can quickly become infested, and this can also lead to things like developing worms and anemia.

Ali Smith, a canine behaviour consultant at Maven, explained the implications of a changing weather event to Newsweek and how to act now to protect them.

She revealed that if your area is prone to heavy rain, you can always prepare an indoor toileting area for your pet to stop them from going outside in the rain – which you’re supposed to avoid if you’ve applied any spot-on treatment until it dries and has time to set.

However, if you live somewhere that could see flooding or landslides, she said to create an emergency plan that includes stocking up on supplies such as food, water, and medications, as well as any vet information or identification.

“It’s a lot of the regular emergency preparedness things we might expect,” she said.

Of course, handling cats is a different matter altogether as you’ll need to get them into a pet carrier so they don’t bolt.

“The big one I see is people not being able to capture their cats,” Smith warned the outlet. “Getting cats used to a carrier is a thing we need to prioritize especially in these areas!”

For dogs, it’s a matter of securing them in a harness so you can walk them, and for rodents, a cage is also something you could carry.

Ultimately, she says you need to have your supplies ready to grab quickly and a place to go in case your location becomes a danger.

Men are having procedures to give themselves ‘cauliflower ear’ to look like MMA fighters

People are constantly seeking to change the way they look these days and it’s not always for the better.

While everyone’s free to do whatever they want with their own bodies, the toxic nature of social media means we are constantly comparing ourselves with heavily edited or filtered pictures of people we don’t even know.

Unfortunately, this can sometimes lead to people becoming addicted to plastic surgery, undergoing procedures that are often unsafe and expensive.

And in a world where an increasing amount of men are now looking up to the wrong sorts of people as role models, it’s perhaps not even that surprising that there’s now a procedure to give men the impression of ‘cauliflower ears’.

The term, most commonly associated with physical sports such as boxing, rugby and MMA fighting, is caused by blunt force trauma or repeated friction that cuts off blood flow to the cartilage in the ear.

Although rugby players and boxers in particular spend a large part of their lives having the blood drained from their ear to get their ears back to normal, it seems as if some blokes who might have never fought anyone in their lives now want to give off the appearance that they have, which might be one of the most embarrassing ideas I’ve ever heard of.

According to Russian Telegram channel Baza, via VICE, it’s Russian men who are paying actual money to have their ears deliberately deformed.

We’ve seen Russian ‘Popeye’ in the past inflate his own arm muscles without having to eat a boatload of spinach, and now some of his other countrymen want the cauliflower ear look, perhaps so they can continue not listening to people’s advice that it’s a terrible idea.

It supposedly costs 6,000 rubles per ear, which is about £55, but reconstructive surgery could be significantly more, and naturally a procedure such as this does not come without its obvious risks.

Russian news outlets suggest that the main motivation for this bizarre procedure is simply to intimidate others, which might work if the people involved look like they’ve ever actually been in a fight.

Psychologist Ekaterina Trofimova summed it up well in an interview with Moskva 24, saying: Sometimes true strength hides behind a mask of outward composure and absolute tranquility.

“A person skilled in martial arts may appear indistinguishable from any ordinary person. However, they exude a special calm and confidence that others can intuitively detect. They don’t need to display ostentatious masculinity.”

So, while the likes of Andrew Tate and other folks in the manosphere might try and convince you this is a good idea, everyone who you might want to intimidate will probably just be laughing at you instead.
