The Miami Heat are ensuring one of their top players doesn’t exit via free agency this summer.
Per multiple reports, forward Andrew Wiggins intends to stay with the team via an extension. Wiggins is reportedly opting into his deal for 2026-27 and then signing a two-year, $64 million deal that will keep him with Miami through the 2028-29 season.

And to eliminate all confusion, if there’s any: It’s an opt-in by Wiggins for this year. And then, per source, an agreement through 2028-29. So think of it as $30M in the current deal, $34M total in the next one.

Last season, Wiggins averaged 15.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 68 games in his first full season with Miami. The Heat acquired Wiggins as part of the blockbuster trade deadline-day deal that saw Jimmy Butler move to the Golden State Warriors.
He enjoyed his best production in February, when he averaged 18.2 ppg, 6 rpg and 2.7 apg for the Heat and played strongly down the stretch of 2025-26, posting double-figure scoring in eight of Miami’s last 10 games.
The Heat have already secured one of the biggest moves of the summer, well before agreeing to this reported pact with Wiggins, with the reported addition of former Kia MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Having Wiggins in the fold gives Miami a lineup that features Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo and Wiggins in the frontline, with other moves likely to come during free agency.
