    • Researchers say that small changes in sleep, diet, and exercise can have a substantial impact on heart health.
    • They report that modest changes, such as 11 more minutes of sleep per night and 5 additional minutes of exercise per day, can lower the risk of serious cardiovascular events.
    • Experts say the findings are encouraging for people who can only make small adjustments to their daily lifestyle routines.

Making small improvements in how much you sleep, what you eat, and how much you exercise can significantly reduce your risk of heart health issues, according to a new study.

Researchers report that people who get 11 more minutes of sleep, add 5 minutes of physical activity to their daily routine, and eat a quarter-cup more vegetables per day can lower their risk of cardiovascular events, such as heart attack and stroke, by 10%.

They added that people who have an optimal combination of lifestyle behaviors that include 8 to 9 hours of sleep per night, 42 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity per day, and a moderate diet quality score have a 57% lower risk of major cardiovascular events compared to people with the least optimal health profile.

They noted that their research was an observational study, so it cannot establish a definitive cause-and-effect relationship between lifestyle habits and cardiovascular events. They recommended conducting intervention trials to confirm their findings.

The researchers said their study could help people adopt simple lifestyle changes to improve heart health.

“We show that combining small changes in a few areas of our lives can have a surprisingly large positive impact on our cardiovascular health,” said Nicholas Koemel, the lead study author and a research fellow and dietitian at the University of Sydney in Australia, in a press release.

“This is very encouraging news because making a few small, combined changes is likely more achievable and sustainable for most people when compared with attempting major changes in a single behavior.”

In this study, researchers examined data from more than 53,000 participants in the UK Biobank. The median age of the subjects was 63 years and nearly 57% were male.

The Biobank data on sleep and exercise was gathered from wearable technology such as smartwatches. The information on diet was gleaned from self-reports from participants and measured on a 10-item diet quality score.

The researchers concluded that even “modest differences” in combined behavior levels “were associated with meaningful reductions” in the risks of major cardiovascular events.

Experts who weren’t involved in the study said the findings provide guidance for both individuals and medical professionals.

“This is an encouraging finding that reiterates the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle in order to optimize our heart health,” said Cheng-Han Chen, MD, an interventional cardiologist and medical director of the Structural Heart Program at MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center in Laguna Hills, CA.

“This is a very encouraging study because it shows that even small lifestyle changes can have a meaningful impact on heart health,” added Jennifer Wong, MD, a cardiologist and medical director of noninvasive cardiology at MemorialCare Heart and Vascular Institute at Orange Coast Medical Center in Fountain Valley, CA.

“Many people feel overwhelmed by the idea of completely changing their habits, but this research suggests that small, consistent improvements can still reduce cardiovascular risk,” she told Healthline. “These small changes help improve blood pressure, metabolism, inflammation, and overall heart function over time,” she said.

The researchers noted that sleep, diet, and exercise are usually studied independently, but they said that these “behaviors are uniquely interdependent and have bidirectional impacts on one another.”

The researchers explained that “poor sleep can disrupt the normal neurotransmission of appetite hormones, influencing food selection and driving an increase in total energy intake.”

They added that “physical activity may improve sleep quality, while poor sleep may limit functional capacity due to fatigue.”

“Diet quality is also interlinked, demonstrating a relationship with sleep onset and wake time as well as energy and regulation for normal physical activity,” the researchers wrote.

Chen agreed that looking at all aspects of lifestyle behavior is a productive approach.

“We already know that physical activity level, diet quality, and sleep quality are all important factors influencing our risk of cardiovascular disease,” he told Healthline. “While most research studies examine each factor in isolation, it is likely that there are synergistic benefits to improving multiple lifestyle factors at once.”

Madeline Sterling, MD, an internal medicine specialist at Weill Cornell Medicine, echoed these sentiments.

“This study offers an important step forward in terms of how we think about optimizing cardiovascular health,” she told Healthline. “It offers a window into key behaviors – sleep, physical activity, and nutrition – and how these influence peoples’ progression toward disease.”

The American Heart Association (AHA) states that more than 940,000 people in the United States die each year from cardiovascular disease.

According to the AHA, heart disease kills more people in the United States than any other cause. The AHA reports that there are more heart disease deaths than from cancer and accidental deaths combined.

Past research has noted other risk factors for heart disease.

A 2025 study reported that even occasional smoking can increase cardiovascular risks by 50%.

A 2024 study listed inflammatory diets high in red meat, white flour, and sugar as a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease.

In a 2026 study, researchers found that exposure to light during sleep is associated with a higher risk of heart disease.

The AHA’s Life’s Essential 8 guidelines list eight ways to maintain good heart health. The lifestyle behaviors range from diet to exercise to sleep to cholesterol control to blood sugar levels.

In addition, experts say heart health is vital at every age.

A 2025 study reported that it’s even more important for adults 18 to 30 years of age to develop heart-healthy lifestyles to help prevent cardiovascular disease later in life.

Experts say there are many ways to help reduce heart disease risk.

Chen said that some people can make major changes in their daily lifestyle while others may need a slower, more incremental approach.

“While modest lifestyle changes do reduce cardiovascular risk, the study also showed that larger ‘optimal’ changes reduce risk even further,” he said. “For people who may be intimidated or discouraged by having to make many large changes in their lifestyle at once, I would encourage them to start with ‘baby steps,’ as some improvement is better than none.”

Wong agreed. “Bigger lifestyle changes will generally lead to greater health benefits, but what’s important here is that modest changes are still meaningful,” she said. “Small changes are often more sustainable, and they can be the first step toward larger improvements in long-term heart health.”

“My advice is to start small and stay consistent: Add a short daily walk, aim for slightly better sleep, and try to include more vegetables in your meals. Over time, these small habits build momentum and can significantly improve cardiovascular health,” Wong continued.

Sterling, who was the chair of an AHA committee that wrote a statement on Life’s Essential 8, follows a similar approach.

“As a primary care doctor, I like to talk to patients about their cardiovascular health in the context of their current conditions and risk factors, but also considering their priorities, life circumstances, family history, work, resources, and environment,” she explained.

“Nearly everyone can benefit from improving their health in some way and from lifestyle change. Small and steady progress across several behaviors can really make a difference,” Sterling said.

  • Coinbase is pushing US lawmakers to reform crypto tax rules, calling current laws outdated

Coinbase is pushing US lawmakers to reform crypto tax rules, calling current laws outdated

Coinbase and its top executives have always been seeking clarity from US watchdogs on the use of crypto. In a fresh move, the exchange is ramping up pressure on US lawmakers to revamp how digital assets are taxed. They are arguing that current rules are stuck in a pre-crypto era, which is hampering adoption.

Faryar Shirzad, Coinbase’s CPO, believes that a basic mismatch might be a blockage here. The US tax code was designed for “20th-century money,” while crypto operates in an entirely different way. However, treating crypto purely as “property” means that even the smallest transactions can trigger tax obligations. This will lead to a system where everyday usage is a compliance headache.

Coinbase sees 34% jump in tax queries

Shirzad mentioned that under the current rules, something as simple as paying a gas fee or using a stablecoin for a routine transaction is technically a taxable event. He added that the users are expected to calculate cost basis, track gains or losses, and report them. This happens even when the amounts involved are negligible.

He noted that crypto’s ability to move seamlessly across wallets and platforms makes this even harder. It often leaves gaps in reporting that brokers themselves cannot fully resolve.

According to a report, Coinbase has seen a 34% jump in customer service inquiries. All of them were linked to tax reporting compared with the same period last year. Meanwhile, the introduction of new reporting needs is generating what the company describes as a paperwork overload.

It added that millions of Form 1099-DAs will be issued for the 2025 tax year. However, many of them are tied to extremely small transactions. A big portion of these forms relates to proceeds under $600, and hundreds of thousands even track activity below $1.

The volume of reporting risks is doing the opposite. It is not improving the clarity among users and is burying meaningful info under huge amounts of data. Cost basis tracking is another structural issue among users. The exchange estimates that more than 63% of users have gaps in their records. This is purely due to crypto’s move between wallets and exchanges. Because of this, taxpayers either overpay or are forced to manually reconcile transactions, and that too with limited support.

De minimis exemption for small transactions might work here. Similar limits already exist in other parts of the tax code. It can be applied to crypto to eliminate the need to report minor payments.

Euro stablecoin holders jump to 1M

The report highlighted that the GENIUS Act has already established a clearer framework for stablecoins and the market. Meanwhile, the Internal Revenue Code remains largely unchanged for cryptos. The cumulative digital assets market is hovering around the $2.4 trillion mark. A recent sell-off has dragged Bitcoin to trade below the $70k level.

It is expected that the tax rules could push users and innovation offshore. The company framed the issue not just as a compliance challenge, but as a competitiveness one. It warns the US of losing ground in a sector that it is trying to lead.

Data shared by Dune shows that Euro-pegged stablecoin supply has surged from $203 million in January 2023 to $912 million by February 2026. Holders grew from 13,000 to over 1 million during this period. Circle’s $EURC leads this tally with $500 million. However, there are 13 euro-pegged stablecoins in the market. This includes EURS, EURe, $EURI, $EURCV, and more.

    Euro stablecoins: $203M → $912M supply. 13K → 1M+ holders.@circle $EURC leads at $500M, but there are 13 euro-pegged stablecoins across the ecosystem — EURS, EURe, $EURI, $EURCV, and more.

Post-MiCA regulatory clarity has pushed this 4.5x supply and 80x holder growth. Euro stablecoins now represent over 80% of the non-USD stablecoin supply in the region. The cumulative stablecoin market holds a cap of more than $319 billion. Tether’s USDT leads the sector with an over $184 billion market cap.

Beyond policy, Coinbase entered traditional finance with crypto. The company recently partnered with Better Home & Finance to allow homebuyers to use digital assets like Bitcoin and USDC as collateral for down payments.

Despite the major announcement, the COIN price dropped by more than 4% in the last session. It has seen a decline of almost 45% over the last 6 months. COIN traded at $173.38 in the last session.

Solana (SOL) Price Drops 5% Amid Dip in ETF Inflows

    • On Thursday, Solana ($SOL) fell by around 5%, declining to $86.83 with a market capitalization of $49.69 billion.
    • Indicators like the relative strength index are suggesting oversold conditions, but also show weak buying momentum.
    • Despite the drop in the cryptocurrency, Solana is showing strong network activity as it handles 44% of all cryptocurrency transactions globally, according to on-chain data shared by co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko.

On March 26, Solana ($SOL) price plunged by over 5%, following the downward trend in the crypto sector, forcing its value to drop from $91.81 to $86.54.

This downfall in the seventh biggest cryptocurrency was seen after dropping institutional investments in the cryptocurrency and the growing global tension.

    Solana’s $SOL Plunges 5% as Price Falls Below $88

According to CoinMarketCap, Solana ($SOL) dropped by 5% in the latest 24-hour trading period and now trades at approximately $87.57. Its market capitalization is revolving around $52 billion with 24-hour trading volume exceeding $4 billion. This makes the latest candle drop in March 2026, where $SOL has lost ground after failing to hold above the $92 level.

$SOL is below its 50-day simple moving average near $90, and the 200-day average remains far higher at around $139, which confirms the longer-term downward trend. The relative strength index is revolving around 31, which shows oversold conditions but also shows weak buying momentum.

The MACD has turned negative, and the price action forms a bearish flag pattern on the daily chart. One of the major supports of the cryptocurrency is revolving at $85, while the next resistance revolves around $90 to $92. If it breaks above $92, it would spark a rally in the cryptocurrency.

A dip in recent ETF inflows is adding to the pressure. While spot $SOL ETFs have attracted nearly $1 billion in cumulative flows since their July 2025 launch, institutional buying slowed in early March, with many days of net outflows before a modest rebound. Year-to-date inflows reached $222 million by mid-March, but daily figures have stayed modest compared with earlier streaks. This drop is coming even while institutional investment remains visible through 13F filings.

One trader writes in the technical analysis on CoinMarketCap community, “Solana hit the short target today. Entry was around $91.70, and price dropped below $89 during the session, so the move played out as expected. Right now it’s trading near $91.6, still sitting in that $90–$92 area. With the previous high around $139, the structure doesn’t look very strong at the moment.”

“So far there’s no clear reclaim of $92, and price action still feels weak. In similar situations after large drawdowns, it’s common to see another move down rather than an immediate recovery. For now, it seems cautious below $92. Personally, I’d wait to see a clean reclaim and hold before considering any long,” the trader said.

    — Forward Ind. | NASDAQ-$FWDI (@FWDind) March 26, 2026

Despite the drop in cryptocurrency, the Solana network is showing growth in its activity. The network is now handling over 44% cryptocurrency transactions globally, according to on-chain data shared by co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko. This volume is outperforming any single competitor and shows the network’s position as the busiest blockchain for everyday transfers and decentralized applications.

On the Solaba, the stablecoin supply also crossed $17 billion, and real-world asset value hit an all-time high of around $1.85 billion.

Apart from this, there are major developments taking place. The Firedancer validator client is now fully live and has improved network reliability while cutting the risk of outages. The upcoming Alpenglow upgrade will reduce transaction finality to roughly 150 milliseconds, which makes Solana suitable for high-frequency use cases.

  • Why Has ‘Project Hail Mary’ Ignited So Much Online Debate?

Why Has ‘Project Hail Mary’ Ignited So Much Online Debate?

The popularity for Project Hail Mary continues to soar since its massive opening weekend at the box office, which has given oxygen to plenty of social media discourse.

Ryan Gosling stars in directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller‘s sci-fi epic that surpassed $80 million domestically in its debut frame to represent Amazon MGM Studios‘ top opening weekend. With a script from Drew Goddard that adapts author Andy Weir‘s 2021 novel, Project Hail Mary centers on science teacher Ryland Grace (Gosling) teaming with alien pal Rocky in an desperate effort to prevent the sun’s destruction.

With the movie’s release came a flurry of social media posts, as audiences debated everything one could possibly imagine to be a potential topic for debate. This included messages about the film’s quality, the book’s quality, the frequency and success of the jokes, its perceived political perspective, its positioning of the U.S. amid the global ecosystem, Gosling’s project choices and the directors’ track records, to name a smattering.

“Anything that incites debate — especially if you have people who are evangelical about the property and certain talent or creators — is going to drive the algorithm,” Jordan Levin, the former CEO of both the WB and AwesomenessTV, tells The Hollywood Reporter. “There’s debate around a number of themes that seem to be political. The whole idea of international cooperation seems to be a political debate. The idea of fact-based science — which is very foundational to the writing of Andy Weir — is very much a debate in this day and age, especially this idea that science can solve our problems.”

Ryan Gosling stars as Ryland Grace and Sandra Hüller as Eva Stratt in Project Hail Mary.

    Jonathan Olley/Amazon Content Services

Adds Levin, who worked with Lord and Miller and former Buffy the Vampire Slayer writer Goddard during his time at the WB: “Then if you just get into cinephiles, there’s this whole debate about, ‘Is the moviegoing theater experience alive or dead?’ I’ve seen huge online debate about, ‘Is it a sci-fi classic that goes up there with the greats?’ Or other people are saying it’s pandering or the use of humor is a little out of place. There’s debate over production techniques, and there are a lot of people rallying around the fact that there were practical sets and puppetry used as compared to just all CGI.”

Other films over the past 12 months have similarly spurred rabid social media conversation, including A Minecraft Movie, Sinners, Superman and Weapons. But the expansive range of discussion topics for an original property that appeals to audiences of all ages has made the Project Hail Mary discourse particularly notable.

For some industry experts, the fact that the film is not part of an existing franchise worked as an asset to open up marketing possibilities in the lead-up to the release. Certainly, the Project Hail Mary team was busy creating unique promotional moments in recent weeks, like viral videos involving Gosling on Jeopardy! or showing off his football-tossing skills.

“It’s great to see,” Russell Schwartz, the former president of theatrical marketing at New Line Cinema, says about the audience engagement. “The nice thing about a non-IP movie is that you’re able to conceptualize from zero: ‘What are the best companies or brands that we should work with?’ It’s a much more imaginative way of selling a movie than having to go with the established IP and knowing you’re going with your usual, run-of-the-mill partners. I think the people at MGM are giddy over that opportunity, and the fact that Ryan was so willing is just great to see.”

A bearded Ryan Gosling embraces Rachel McAdams in The Notebook.

    Courtesy Everett Collection

Schwartz ran the marketing campaign for The Notebook — the 2004 drama that marked Gosling’s first major hit as a lead — and was able to see how seriously the actor takes movie promotion. Schwartz recalls that New Line founder Bob Shaye did not like the look of a poster for The Notebook that showed a bearded Gosling embracing co-star Rachel McAdams, which led Shaye to ask that they remove the facial hair. “Shaye said, ‘No one will ever go see that movie because the hero’s got a beard on,’ so I took the beard off,” the marketing expert says. “I showed it to Ryan, and he says, ‘I’m never doing publicity for this movie if you don’t put my beard back on.’” Sure enough, the beard came back.

Prominent figures with a reputation for outer space social content are not surprised that Project Hail Mary has dominated online conversation, given the way that the film developed its story, not to mention its unique alien friend. “I talked to Andy a bunch about the movie, and Andy and I have been talking about his next book a little bit,” says Chris Hadfield, retired astronaut and author of the best-selling thriller Final Orbit. “I’m really pleased that they worked hard to make it as visually realistic and compelling as they could. The deft way with which you decide to portray an alien leaves some of it to the imagination but with enough there to really spark your curiosity.”

Splashy marketing campaigns and noisy social media chatter over a project can run the risk of alienating audiences, which may have been a factor in A24’s Marty Supreme and lead Timothée Chalamet getting shut out at this year’s Oscars despite nine nominations. “It’s a little bit different than the way Timothée Chalamet rough-rode over A24, in terms of him running the campaign,” Schwartz says about what he’s heard of the two recent films. “Obviously, Ryan was in terrific sync with the MGM people.”

The continued popularity of Project Hail Mary has also spurred new interest in real-life space exploration, including the impending launch of Artemis II, marking NASA‘s first moon mission in more than 50 years.

“This movie and movies like it are engaging ways for people get familiar with pretty hard concepts,” says space-focused content creator Kobi Brown. “In the movie and the book, we’re talking about hardcore alien molecular biology and exploration of things like how the sun could be destroyed or how interstellar traffic works, time dilation. All of these things are very complex, but this could be people’s first touchpoint for those concepts, and they want to know more.”

Despite the complex nature of the science, one factor that might have helped increase the amount of social posts about Project Hail Mary is that families have been drawn to it, which perhaps was not the initial focus for the campaign.

“I suspect the filmmakers made a movie for the Ryan Gosling sci-fi audience and ended up with a family movie,” Schwartz says. Regardless, the excitement for the film confirms that audiences remain thirsty for something fresh: “When it’s a surprise movie like that, it just does wonders for word of mouth. It’ll just go on and on. This movie’s not going anywhere.”

  • Australia Lays Groundwork for Tokenized Asset Markets After RBA Project

Australia Lays Groundwork for Tokenized Asset Markets After RBA Project

    In brief

    • The RBA said tokenization is now a question of how, not if, as it outlined the next steps after its Project Acacia research program.
    • Regulators, including the RBA, ASIC, and AUSTRAC, are now coordinating on legal and regulatory frameworks for tokenised assets and settlement systems.
    • BTC Markets told Decrypt the move toward a longer-term sandbox and regulatory coordination could unlock institutional participation in tokenized markets.

Australia’s central bank is moving toward building the legal and market infrastructure needed for tokenized asset markets, as regulators begin coordinating on rules that could allow the products to trade at scale within the financial system.

In a speech on Tuesday, Reserve Bank of Australia Assistant Governor Brad Jones said the question was no longer whether tokenization had a future in Australia’s financial system, but how it would be implemented, following the conclusion of the bank’s Project Acacia research program into tokenized assets and money.

The RBA said it would work with other regulators and industry on a new digital market infrastructure sandbox to test tokenized assets, tokenized money, and settlement systems in a longer-term environment designed to support commercialization, rather than short-term pilot programs.

The central bank also confirmed it is coordinating with other agencies on the legal and regulatory framework for tokenized markets, including how tokenized assets are classified, how settlement finality works, and how new platforms would be licensed and supervised.

The push on tokenized markets comes as lawmakers move to bring crypto platforms and tokenized custody services under Australia’s financial-services regime, requiring firms that hold client tokens to obtain licenses and meet asset-safeguarding rules.

Industry participants say that regulatory coordination is the key step needed to move tokenized assets from pilot programs into real markets.

“Project Acacia represents a turning point,” Paul Stonham, chief commercial officer at Australian crypto exchange BTC Markets and a member of the project’s advisory group, told Decrypt.

“The RBA’s decision to move from exploratory pilots to a longer-term, stage-gated sandbox environment signals genuine institutional commitment to making tokenized finance work in Australia, not just studying it.”

Stonham said the most significant development was the coordination now underway between the RBA, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, and AUSTRAC to address legal and regulatory uncertainty that has limited institutional participation.

He said regulated digital asset exchanges are likely to play a central role in tokenized markets, arguing that tokenized assets will need to trade on transparent, centrally managed order books operated by licensed platforms to attract larger players.

The RBA said tokenization could improve efficiency and reduce risk in wholesale markets, particularly if tokenized assets and money can be settled on synchronized systems, and estimated the economic benefit to Australia could reach about $24 billion (US$16.6 billion) per year.

The bank also said further work would focus on settlement infrastructure, tokenized bank deposits, stablecoins, and the potential role of a wholesale central bank digital currency.

Kremlin spokesperson says talks are part of ‘necessary dialogue’ with Washington as war in Ukraine continues for a fifth year.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, “We hope that these first tentative steps will, of course, make their contribution to the further revival of our bilateral engagement.”

He said President Vladimir Putin had set the “main directives” for the trip and would be “thoroughly briefed” on the meeting.

The visit comes as US-brokered talks seeking a deal to end the war in Ukraine are in effect frozen.

Several rounds of negotiations since US President Donald Trump returned to the White House last year have failed to break the deadlock, with the Kremlin ruling out compromises to halt its years-long offensive.

Russia, a close ally of Iran, has also been cited by Western intelligence officials as one of the backers of the Iranian government, as Tehran fights a war launched by the US and Israel.

A report in the United Kingdom-based Financial Times newspaper on Wednesday alleged that Russia was close to completing a shipment of drones to Iran.

Responding to questions about the report, Peskov said, “There are so many lies being spread by the media … Do not pay attention to them.”

Russia this week carried out one of the largest aerial attacks since the start of its war on Ukraine, launching 948 drones in 24 hours as it moved troops and equipment to the front line.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued a new appeal for allies to supply Kyiv with air defence munitions, warning that Kyiv, which relies on the US for air defence systems against ballistic missiles, will face a deficit of missiles while Washington is focused on the US-Israeli war on Iran.

Talks between Ukraine and the US that opened in the US state of Florida on Saturday again failed to produce a security guarantee that Kyiv has long sought from Washington.

  • Swimming Champion Leon Marchand Details Life After Paris Olympics Glory in New Docuseries ‘Beyond Gold’ From France Televisions and ‘Tour de France’ Producers (EXCLUSIVE)

Swimming Champion Leon Marchand Details Life After Paris Olympics Glory in New Docuseries ‘Beyond Gold’ From France Televisions and ‘Tour de France’ Producers (EXCLUSIVE)

Leon Marchand, the swimming champion who turned out to become one of the Paris Olympics’ biggest stars — winning four gold medals for Team France — is authentically portrayed by his father in an event documentary series called “Leon Marchand, Beyond Gold.”

The three-part series, which was teased by commissioning broadcaster France Télévisions at Series Mania Festival in Lille, is produced by Quad Group’s Yann Le Bourbouac’h, whose track record in the field includes the smash hit Netflix documentary series “Tour de France: Unchained.” It follows Marchand, a native of Toulouse, in Southern France, over the course of one year, following the Paris Olympics’ adventure. It’s co-directed by Xavier Marchand and Sacha Vučinić (“Tour de France: Unchained”).

Certainly due to Marchand’s hot profile as a national hero (having broken a record of four Gold medals), the docu series brings together two major players who rarely collaborate: France Télévisions and TF1 Studios. As with “Tour de France,” “Leon Marchand, Beyond Gold” will not be a basic sports series. It will have a character-driven approach which Le Bourbouac’h developed closely with the athlete, his father, Xavier Marchand – also a swimming champion — and his entourage, to align on their vision they had for the documentary.

For Le Bourbouac’h, the series was approached like a fiction, and sheds light on how Marchand coped with his sudden fame in the wake of his four gold medals and how his life was ultimately very different from the way it appeared.

“What we filmed over the course of that year was Léon, who, after the Olympics, felt that the image people were painting of him — because he’d won a medal — was distorted,” says the Paris-based producer. “There were things that were false about who he was and all that. He wanted to set the record straight, and above all, he wanted to explain what his life was really like — that it wasn’t as rosy as people seemed to make it out to be.”

“Because people were saying he’d won four medals thanks to Louis Vuitton and Nike partnerships. He wanted to say: ‘To get here, guys, I work every single day,’” he continued. In fact, the documentary sees him pursuing his engineering studies.

It’s a true coming-of-age story, Le Bourbouac’h says, “because it’s really a look at what you do when you’ve won it all at 22, and we see Léon asking himself all the questions you have at that age: Who am I? Where do I come from? What’s the real purpose in my life now?”

Le Bourbouac’h points that gaining the trust of Marchand’s family was key to make this documentary, noting that he is “part of this young generation of athletes like Mbappé, who have their families around them. They were their pillars of support.” As such, it’s co-produced by CLOX, Marchand’s vehicle which he runs with his parents and brother.

The documentary will also be scored by hip French electro band The Blaze. “Hugo composes music, and in this case, he’s going to compose the music for the documentary with The Blaze — we set him up to meet The Blaze during filming and we filmed them teaching him.”

“He meets his idols, he does his thing, he makes the music, so he blossoms, if you will, alongside swimming,” says Le Bourbouac’h.

That one-year journey also shows Marchand stepping into adulthood after he graduates and obtains his engineering diploma.

“It’s about a son who leaves for good. At this end of the journey, he’s no longer Léon Marchand; he’s just Léon. You see that the father watching his son truly blossom and, on top of that, succeed in his studies.”

“There’s sports, there’s that storyline about the athlete, what he goes through on the tour, all the ups and downs, his return with the French national team, the World Championships in Singapore,” says Le Bourbouac’h. “And above all, it’s about a young man’s personal growth.”

‘Running Point’ Season 2 Trailer: Kate Hudson Basketball Comedy Adds Octavia Spencer, Lisa Rinna and Nicole Richie as Guest Stars

Kate Hudson is getting back on the court for the second season of the Netflix sports comedy “Running Point,” returning as Isla Gordon, the sharp but underestimated executive who unexpectedly finds herself running the fictional basketball team, the Los Angeles Waves.

And the new episodes of the show, from executive producers Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen, appear to take advantage of Hudson’s soft-shoe skills by putting the two-time Oscar nominee at center court with the team’s dancers.

Season 1 saw Isla — who, as the only daughter of the team’s owner, was often overlooked by her late father and undermined by her brothers (Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur and Justin Theroux) — find her footing in her new role. But, in Season 2, which begins streaming on April 23, she’s no longer the surprise choice to lead the Waves; now, she’s the one with the target on her back.

“With the franchise finally rebounding after last year’s scandal, Isla is determined to prove she’s not just keeping the seat warm for her brother Cam (Theroux),” a synopsis teases. “What she doesn’t know is that Cam is quietly maneuvering behind the scenes to reclaim his post, turning every misstep into ammunition.”

The Season 2 trailer promises more hijinks and hilarity as Isla navigates the pressures of running the family business and navigating the high-stakes world of professional basketball, while balancing the drama of her personal life (with Max Greenfield and Jay Ellis as romantic interests). The ensemble cast includes Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman and Uche Agada, and recurring guest star Ray Romano, who plays the Waves’ new head coach.

Ike Barinholtz (far right, as Cousin Bennie) joins Drew Tarver, Justin Theroux, Kate Hudson and Scott MacArthur in “Running Point” season 2.

The clip also reveals guest appearances by series co-creator Barinholtz, who plays the Gordon family’s kooky cousin Bennie, and Lisa Rinna, who appears as herself. Octavia Spencer (Hudson’s co-star in the Apple series “Truth Be Told”), Nicole Richie and Scott Speedman also appear as new characters.

“Running Point” also features recurring guest stars: Roberto Sanchez, Jon Glaser, Scott Evans, Rob Huebel, Marissa Reyes, Blake Anderson, Ken Marino, Tommy Dewey, Richa Moorjani, Aliyah Turner and Jake Picking.

“Every decision on and off the court counts,” the synopsis explains. “To survive the family power plays and the scrutiny of the board, she’ll have to rip up last season’s game plan and come up with a whole new playbook if she wants to close out the season on top.”

“Running Point” debuted last February and was quickly renewed for a second season. The show ultimately spent five weeks in Netflix’s global English Top 10 TV chart. Mindy Kaling, Barinholtz and David Stassen serve as writers and executive producers, with Stassen also serving as showrunner.

In addition to starring in the series, Hudson executive produces alongside Howard Klein, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Jeanie Buss and Linda Rambis. Jordan Rambis serves as producer. The series is produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Kaling is under an overall deal.
