BREAKING: An Altcoin Has Been Hacked; Losses Are Significant

Avici, a next-generation banking platform operating within the Solana ecosystem, has faced a serious security incident. According to on-chain data, the attacker, using only $190 in initial capital, stole approximately $670,000 worth of assets from user accounts. Following the incident, the price of the AVICI token dropped by over 45%.

According to initial reports from SolanaFloor, over $600,000 in funds were withdrawn from Avici users’ accounts without authorization. Avici had previously stated that an anomaly had been detected regarding the withdrawal of bank card balances from the platform and that it was investigating the matter with its partners. The platform later confirmed that the incident stemmed from a security breach.

On-chain analysis revealed the attack was launched at a relatively low cost. The wallet used in the attack was created today at 5:40 PM and funded with approximately $190 worth of USDC bridged from the Ethereum network to Solana. This amount is believed to have been primarily used to cover transaction fees.

The attack reportedly began around 16:49 UTC and continued for thousands of transactions. An investigation revealed that the attacker’s wallet processed over 8,857 transactions.

Attacker Gained Control Over 1,100 Accounts

According to technical analyses, the attack was rooted in an authorization flaw in Avici’s smart contracts. The attacker reportedly called the AddCollateralAdmin function by sending a specific signature packet, thereby identifying themselves as an administrator in users’ collateral accounts.

Because the second signature verification was incorrectly routed to the first instruction, the Solana network accepted the attacker’s own signature as valid a second time. This allowed the program to add an administrator key to the system that it should not have accepted under normal circumstances.

It was stated that thanks to this vulnerability, the attacker gained administrative privileges over more than 1,100 collateral accounts and then began withdrawing funds from these accounts.

The study indicated that the median amount stolen per account in the examined transactions was approximately $24, while the largest single loss in the sample was $5,268.

Between 6:19 PM and 6:34 PM, an initial large group of funds, approximately $576,000, was reportedly moved from the attacker’s wallet to other addresses, after which new funds continued to flow into the attacker’s address. The total loss is estimated to have subsequently reached approximately $670,000.

Initial investigations indicate that the attack did not stem from the compromise of Avici’s program upgrade key. It was noted that the program was neither modified nor updated with a new version, and the upgrade key had not been used since March 2025.

Therefore, it is believed that the incident stemmed directly from an authorization error in the smart contract, rather than a stolen deploy or upgrade key.

On the other hand, claims have surfaced on social media that the attack involved emptying Avici’s central treasury. However, on-chain data does not support this claim. According to current findings, the funds were withdrawn from individual users’ accounts, not from a single treasury account.

Following the security incident, selling pressure on the AVICI token accelerated, and its price quickly dropped by over 45%.

The graph shows the price drop for AVICI.

  • SODAX Enables Cross-Network Flint Deposits

    SODAX Enables Cross-Network Flint Deposits

Flint, a platform for investing in tokenized RWAs, has integrated SODAX, an infrastructure for cross-network routing and crypto asset conversion, to let users deposit assets from more than 20 blockchain networks into its vaults. Flint invests these funds in tokenized real-world assets, including real estate bonds and private credit.

Flint’s vaults are built on Lagoon Finance and curated by 9Summits. They provide non-custodial access to tokenized real estate debt through audited smart contracts. The vaults accept $USDC and currently target around 10% APR, with returns paid in $USDC and distributed weekly.

The SODAX integration combines cross-network routing and vault deposits into one step. Users can fund a Flint vault with assets held across supported EVM and non-EVM networks without manually converting or bridging them first.

  • Best Crypto Presales 2026: MemeToro, AlphaPepe, Pepeto and Remittix Compared for Their Bull Run Potential

Best Crypto Presales 2026: MemeToro, AlphaPepe, Pepeto and Remittix Compared for Their Bull Run Potential

The 2026 crypto market is producing several different presale narratives, from artificial intelligence and memecoins to decentralized exchanges and international payments. MemeToro, AlphaPepe, Pepeto, and Remittix each target a different part of this expanding market.

MemeToro has entered Stage 6 with its AI-powered $BNB Chain launchpad, while AlphaPepe has passed $2.5 million in funding. Pepeto has crossed $10.65 million, and Remittix has reported $16.7 million raised across its funding lifecycle.

For investors researching the best crypto presales 2026, comparing these projects by utility and ecosystem development provides a clearer picture of their individual narratives.

MemeToro Brings AI Utility to the Memecoin Market

MemeToro is developing an AI-powered launchpad on $BNB Chain designed to automate parts of the memecoin creation process. Its AI system can support trend discovery, token concepts, branding, and structured launch preparation.

A major feature is the automated security scanner, which is designed to detect potential developer backdoors and honeypots before new tokens deploy.

MemeToro has now reached Stage 6, with $MT priced at a baseline of $0.00350 and the presale approaching the $100,000 fundraising milestone.

This creates a strong connection between the token and the platform’s planned ecosystem.

For the best crypto presales 2026, MemeToro stands out by combining three major market narratives:

    • Artificial intelligence
    • $BNB Chain
    • Memecoin infrastructure

The project is therefore positioned as more than a standalone meme token.

AlphaPepe Builds a Large Early Community

AlphaPepe is currently in Stage 20 of its presale and has raised more than $2.5 million from over 11,100 unique wallet holders.

Its token price currently sits around $0.02789 to $0.02817, while the project is promoting a limited 48-hour Bonus Drop offering up to 200% additional ALPE.

AlphaPepe is also moving closer to public market access through planned CEX partnerships. Project updates have identified Azbit and BiFinance among upcoming trading partners.

This gives AlphaPepe a strong combination of community growth and exchange-focused development.

Compared with MemeToro, AlphaPepe has progressed further through its fundraising cycle. MemeToro, meanwhile, is earlier in its Stage 6 development and has a stronger AI-launchpad identity.

Pepeto and Remittix Offer Broader Utility

Pepeto has emerged as another major presale project after surpassing $10.65 million in funding. Its Ethereum-based ecosystem is designed to extend across multiple blockchains.

The project plans to launch PepetoSwap, a zero-fee decentralized exchange, and a bridge connecting Ethereum, $BNB Chain, and Solana.

Pepeto is also developing an AI token-screening engine, adding another technology layer to its meme-focused ecosystem.

Remittix takes a different approach by focusing on decentralized payments and cross-border transfers. Its Ethereum-based token has a capped supply of 1.5 billion RTX, while the project has reported $16.7 million raised across its funding lifecycle.

This makes Remittix particularly relevant for investors who prefer utility tied to real-world financial infrastructure.

Which Presale Fits the 2026 Market Narrative?

Each project brings a different reason for market attention. MemeToro is built around AI-powered memecoin infrastructure, AlphaPepe emphasizes community and listings, Pepeto combines meme culture with DeFi and cross-chain tools, and Remittix targets payment infrastructure.

For investors comparing the best crypto presales 2026, MemeToro has a distinctive position because its AI launchpad addresses a specific problem in the meme market: making token creation more accessible while adding automated security checks.

Its Stage 6 presale also means the project is still in an early development phase. As the AI launchpad expands, its ecosystem can develop alongside broader interest in artificial intelligence and $BNB Chain applications.

The four projects therefore represent four different crypto narratives rather than direct substitutes.

Customs officers were in for a shock when they searched a woman trying to cross the Russian border — and discovered 116 lizards hidden in her jacket.

The passenger was on a bus that was stopped at the Mamonovo-2 border checkpoint in Russia’s Kaliningrad region, on the border with Poland, on August 25.

Inspectors searching her clothing found dozens of small canvas bags concealed inside the lining of her jacket.

Yes, these lizards were stuffed inside one woman’s jacket (Picture: Russian Federal Customs Service/Cover Images)

Each pouch contained between three and five live reptiles measuring around 10 to 15cm long.

In total, officials counted 116 lizards.

The woman was unable to produce any documents allowing her to transport the animals.

According to Russian customs officials, she told inspectors she had agreed to take the reptiles to Germany in return for money.

The lizards were all between 10 and 15cm long (Picture: Russian Federal Customs Service/Cover Images)

Experts later identified the animals as secret toadhead agamas.

Populations of the unusual desert-dwelling reptile are protected under Russia’s Red Data Book.

The distinctive lizards are found in sandy and desert habitats across parts of Russia and Central Asia.

They are particularly known for their dramatic defensive display when threatened, flattening their bodies and opening their mouths to expose conspicuous folds of skin at the sides.

The reptiles have been handed over to an animal rescue centre (Picture: Russian Federal Customs Service/Cover Images)

All 116 reptiles survived the journey as far as the border and were handed over to a local exotic animal rescue centre, according to customs officials.

The woman is now facing administrative proceedings for allegedly concealing goods from customs control.

Under the relevant Russian law, she could be fined up to three times the value of the seized ‘goods’, with confiscation also possible.

Pictures released by customs officials show scores of the small reptiles after they were removed from their unusual hiding place.

    Graveyard: Season 3 (August 28)

There are so many shows on Netflix that pass by unnoticed, so I try to use this column to highlight ones you might have missed. Graveyard is a Turkish police procedural that focuses on cases of violence against women. Led by Inspector Ӧnem, the team (which works out of a basement) deals with honor killings, suicides, and exploitation. It takes the CSI-style cop drama and uses it to grapple with gender issues in really interesting and mature ways.

Untold: Raygun: Breaking Badly (September 1)

Netflix’s Untold series of documentaries takes stories that went viral and dives deep into the details, and September starts off with a real corker. The 2024 Olympics had plenty of memorable moments, but one of the most viral came for the wrong reasons, with Australian breakdancer Rachael “Raygun” Gunn delivering a perplexing performance that saw her lose each of her events 18-0. Afterward, the internet went wild with accusations of cheating, nepotism, and more. But she just wanted to dance!

The Gentlemen: Season 2 (Sept. 3)

Spinning off from Guy Ritchie’s 2019 film, The Gentlemen is a barrel of fun. When the Duke of Halstead dies, his son Eddie inherits his estate, only to discover that his father was running a massive weed-growing operation on the grounds. Now he has to adjust to a life of crime, deal with his berserk brother, handle the competition, and try to survive. It’s entertainingly twisted and packs a lot into each episode, making it a fun binge-watch. Season 2 sees Eddie set on expansion, despite obstacles in his way.

Bret Baier Defends Fox News’ Jonathan Hunt Amid Donald Trump’s Attack On His Iran Report, Calls Out POTUS Claim That Segment Was Inaccurate

Fox News anchor Bret Baier called out Donald Trump over a Truth Social post in which he attacked Fox News report Jonathan Hunt as a “flunky.”

On Special Report on Thursday, Hunt reported on the status of efforts to reach a peace deal between the United States and Iran, reporting that there were “no significant developments” in regional efforts between Tehran and officials from Qatar and Pakistan. He reported that when it came to talks between Iran and the United States, Trump confirmed that “there are currently no talks between the two.” Hunt also reported that Iran had struck out again at ships in the Strait of Hormuz, mocked the Trump administration’s economic D-Day as “pure parody,” and thanked China for rejecting that sanctions plan.

Soon after, on Truth Social, Trump posted, “Jonathan Hunt of FoxNews did a particularly inaccurate report on the Failing Islamic Republic of Iran. I don’t want to meet, they do. In fact, they are begging to make a deal. Bret Baier should straighten out his flunkies, for a change! President DJT.”

Later in hour, Baier addressed Trump’s post, reading it to viewers and saying, “First of all Jonathan Hunt is not a flunky. He is a great reporter. First of all, Mr. President, we didn’t say you wanted to meet. In fact, we played a soundbite you didn’t want to meet and there are no negotiations. We said that Treasury Secretary [Scott] Bessent] is hoping to meet with G20 countries to increase the pressure on Iran and that Gulf state allies, including Qatar, are inside Tehran trying to get Iran to agree to concessions.”

  • New Operator of L.A.’s Bruin Theatre Says His Antisemitic Comments Are “Distractions From Reopening”

New Operator of L.A.’s Bruin Theatre Says His Antisemitic Comments Are “Distractions From Reopening”

A comeback for Los Angeles’ iconic 88-year-old Bruin Theatre in Westwood is now in doubt. Information about its new operator, Canadian exhibitor Rui Pereira, may kill the revival.

On Aug. 26, IndieWire published an investigation highlighting claims of a checkered history with previous endeavors in Toronto’s film community. Among the accusations are nonpayment and unlicensed screenings at another independent venue. Most notably, the outlet — which, like The Hollywood Reporter, is owned by Penske Media — highlighted Pereira’s history of making racist and antisemitic remarks on his theaters’ social media accounts. These included references to “fake Jews,” “sub human devils,” “zionazis” and “murderous filthy vile hasbara fake Jew scumbags.” After another user referred to him as antisemitic, he responded on a Bruin Theatre-branded account: “You mean anti-septic?”

In an interview with THR, Pereira, 60, described any focus on his rhetoric as “nonsense” and “bullshit,” explaining, “whatever is there [online] doesn’t have to do with what I’m doing [at the Bruin]. This is a contrived situation that exists in the false fantasyland of the Internet.” He argued he’s not a public figure. “I’m just a guy, a working person. My business is selling popcorn and pop and making sure the film is on the screen.”

Still, Pereira — who says he has no investors or partners in either his Toronto venues or his Bruin endeavor (he signed the lease in July) — believes that the highlighting of his comments may be blowback for his prior hosting of screenings of the recent Israel-critical films No Other Land and Palestine 36 in Canada. “I’m sympathetic to the Palestinians and to humanity,” he says.

Pereira sought out the Bruin after he learned that a previous deal for it had collapsed. The earlier effort involved the director Jason Reitman, who has taken over the Westwood Village Theater across the street. The Bruin’s owners are descendants of Spyros Skouras, once the president of 20th Century Fox. The family could not be reached for comment.

Pereira, who contends he isn’t “anti-Jewish,” asserts, “Zionism has now been conflated with genocide and ethnic cleansing.” (Both charges are subject to significant dispute among scholars of the Israel-Palestine conflict.) He tells THR, “everyone is welcome at the [Bruin] theater, including Zionists. I’ve come to open the theater for everybody.”

The Bruin is located at the heart of one of the most demographically Jewish areas of the Los Angeles region, which features the third-largest concentration of Jews in the world after New York City and Tel Aviv. According to a recent survey, 88 percent of Jews believe that Israel has the right to exist as a Jewish, Democratic state — the historically accepted definition of Zionism.

The venue is among a group of local exhibition landmarks, including Hollywood’s Cinerama Dome, Glendale’s Alex and Westwood’s Village, whose resurrections as first-run movie houses has generated a surge of civic optimism. In recent years, the Bruin has repeatedly played itself on screen, first in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, when Sharon Tate watches herself in The Wrecking Crew, and again earlier this month in FX’s The Shards, when Bret Easton Ellis visits to see The Shining.

Filmgoers mill outside the Bruin Theatre in 1978 in anticipation of Francis Ford Coppola’s Vietnam war film ‘Apocalypse Now.’

Pereira tells THR that he doesn’t believe his rhetoric will jeopardize the Bruin’s ability to operate, including working with major studios to secure prints and premieres, as well as attracting prominent filmmakers to participate in post-screening talks. But a group of local Jewish organizations object to his stewardship of a key cultural venue in the city.

“Hate has no place in Los Angeles,” says Anti-Defamation League Los Angeles senior regional director David Englin. “Moviegoers, employees, production staff, and anyone involved in any theater have a right to be free from antisemitism, racism, and other forms of bigotry and discrimination.” Rabbi Noah Farkas, president and CEO of the Jewish Federation Los Angeles, says: “The Bruin’s reopening should be a bright spot for Hollywood. It is a signal of the industry’s resurgence and a moviegoing home that is open to everyone. There is no context in which calling Jews ‘sub human devils’ or celebrating a swastika outside a Jewish family’s home is anything but naked antisemitism, and anyone entrusted with a theater this central to the business must reject that hatred unequivocally.”

Jim Berk, CEO of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, explains, “The comments attributed to Rui Pereira, whose entity operates the Bruin Theatre, are not just disturbing; they echo a script Jews have heard before. To dehumanize Jews, invoke Goebbels and Nazi imagery, tell Jews to ‘go back to Poland,’ and describe a swastika painted outside a Jewish family’s home as an appropriate symbol for ‘zionazis’ is not criticism of Israel. These are old hatreds, rehearsed in new costume.” He adds, “Antisemitic hatred and the dehumanization of Jews cannot be dismissed as political discourse simply because Israel is invoked,” and notes, “the community deserves an artistic venue operator to operate without bias towards any group, irrespective of their religion or race and expects the controlling ownership of the Bruin to make this commitment without delay.”

Ari Ingel, executive director of Creative Community for Peace, a non-profit which seeks to counter anti-Israeli sentiment in Hollywood, called Pereira’s remarks “appalling and completely unacceptable,” explaining, “at a time when Canada’s Jewish community is confronting record levels of antisemitism, this is one Canadian export Los Angeles can do without.”

After hearing of the Jewish organizations’ response to his rhetoric, Pereira acknowledged it was “offensive” and he “must take responsibility.” However, he also characterized the broader conversation about his conduct as “distractions from reopening the Bruin and the excitement and positive energy it has generated.”

  • Late F1 Icon Gilles Villeneuve Drives For Speed, Trophies in ‘Rise of a Legend’ Trailer (Exclusive)

Late F1 Icon Gilles Villeneuve Drives For Speed, Trophies in ‘Rise of a Legend’ Trailer (Exclusive)

Gilles Villeneuve, the late Canadian race car legend, shows his daring, aggressive style both on and off the Formula 1 track in the trailer for the Villeneuve: Rise of a Legend biopic set to world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.

Directed by Yan Lanouette Turgeon, the film stars Remi Goulet as the F1 car legend and charts his ascent to the dizzying heights of elite car racing, well before Villeneuve’s tragic death at Zolder in 1982. The iconic race car driver rose from poor and rural roots in Quebec, where he snowmobiled his way across Canada and eventually, due to an obsession for speed and checkered flags, reached the ranks of the international racing scene.

The film trailer, with Rosalie Bonenfant playing Villeneuve’s wife, doesn’t shy away from portraying the impact of his fame and fortune as an elite race driver on his family. After Villeneuve’s wife scolds him for deciding on his own to sell their home to bankroll his entry into top-flight acing, his father (played by Patrice Robitaille) warns his blank-faced son at another point in the trailer: “You have a family. You’re not alone anymore.”

Of course, Villeneuve brought that same single-minded and aggressive focus to the F1 race track to become one of the sport’s most respected daredevils in his red Ferrari. Written by Daniel Roby and Guillaume Lonergan, Villeneuve: The Rise of a Legend is produced by Christian Larouche, associated producer Tim Ringuette and co-producer Marc Cote. Christian Simoneau, Melanie Villeneuve and Fabrice Barrilliet executive produce.

“It is a privilege to launch the film at the Toronto International Film Festival and present it to an international audience. Gilles Villeneuve is an iconic Quebec figure whose legacy continues to resonate around the world,” Larouche and Ringuette said in a statement.

Le Pacte is handling international sales on the film set to close TIFF on Sept. 19.
