Big Bull Michael Saylor Returns to the Scene After Weeks: He Announces a Million-Dollar Bitcoin Move!

Strategy, the world’s largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder, hadn’t purchased any $BTC for weeks. However, they changed that and made a Bitcoin purchase after weeks of inactivity.

According to the company’s founder, Michael Saylor, they announced last week that they purchased 4,603 $BTC for $370 million.

According to Saylor’s statement, the company increased its cash reserves in US dollars by $29 million during the same period, while repurchasing approximately $152 million worth of STRC shares.

    Strategy’s Bitcoin Reserve Exceeds 845,000 $BTC!

With this latest purchase, Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings have risen to 845,050 $BTC.

As part of its Bitcoin treasury strategy, which began in 2020, the company has become one of the world’s largest institutional Bitcoin holders.

    Cash Reserves Also Increased!

Another notable detail in Saylor’s statement was that the company not only bought Bitcoin but also strengthened its cash position.

Strategy increased its USD cash assets by $29 million. The company reportedly had approximately $6.71 billion in USD assets as of August 30.

As is known, the company has previously sold Bitcoin to finance dividend payments and support its cash reserves.

    Buyback on STRC Shares!

Strategy also repurchased approximately $152 million worth of STRC shares.

This move demonstrates that the company continues to manage its capital structure alongside its Bitcoin purchases. STRC stands out as one of Strategy’s series of variable-rate preferred stocks.

  • John Galliano Bows Out of Met Gala Amid Backlash

John Galliano Bows Out of Met Gala Amid Backlash

John Galliano has bowed out of the Met Gala where he was set to be honored, after a backlash over past remarks by the veteran designer, including an antisemitic rant.

“After much reflection and discussion with all those involved, I have decided, with great sadness, that it is best for the exhibition not to take place at this time,” Galliano said Monday in an Instagram post. The exhibit that has been set to kick off May 3 with the Met Gala was to be overseen by Anna Wintour, Vogue’s global editorial director who also serves as a Met trustee. But a backlash over plans to honor Galliano, who is credited with growing luxury-fashion brand Dior into a global giant, left Met Gala organizers in damage control.

“I do not want the debate surrounding me to place the Met in a difficult position or to distract from the remarkable work of the Costume Institute. I also recognize and respect that the exhibition honoring my work would be painful for some,” Galliano added in his statement.

Galliano was fired by Christian Dior in 2011 after video footage surfaced showing the designer, who was inebriated, making antisemitic remarks in a Paris bar, La Perle. French laws at the time made it a crime to incite racial hatred. The chief Dior designer was arrested for allegedly assaulting two people with antisemitic and racist outbursts that included comments like “I love Hitler,” “people like you would be dead” and “your mothers, your forefather” would all be “gassed.” His racist remarks were also said to include “fucking ugly Jewish bitch” and “fucking Asian bastard”.

After the incident, Galliano retreated from public life for two years and was found guilty by a Paris court of a hate crime for public insults based on religion, race and ethnicity for two incidents in Feb. 2011 and another in Oct. 2010 when a woman claimed he made similar racist outbursts in the same bar near to where he lived. Galliano received a suspended fine of $8400 and was forced to pay damages and court fees. Galliano met with Jewish leaders and rabbis following the scandal and received blessings from groups like the Anti-Defamation League.

In July, the Metropolitan Museum of Art first announced that Galliano’s work would be spotlighted in the Met’s Costume Institute. This exhibition serves as the centerpiece for the annual Met Gala, an event attended by the most elite of the A-list, with one of the most coveted invites.

Galliano’s withdrawal from the planned Met Gala spotlight was preceded on Sunday by a New York Times story that pointed to critics, including donors, politicians and Jewish leaders having taken aim at the Metropolitan Museum for championing a fashion industry giant after he had been convicted for a hate crime in 2011.

The tribute to Galliano would have made him the third living designer to receive a solo exhibition at the Met, following Yves Saint Laurent in 1983 and Rei Kawakubo in 2017.

The statement from John Galliano follows in full:

I am profoundly grateful to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and particularly to Max Hollein, Andrew Bolton and Anna Wintour, for the extraordinary honor of proposing an exhibition devoted to my work. To have my creative journey considered by an institution that I have admired throughout my life moved me more deeply that I can express. I will remain forever grateful for the confidence, care and scholarship that Max, Andrew, Anna and the entire Met team brought to this project.

After much reflection and discussion with all those involved, I have decided, with great sadness, that it is best for the exhibition not to take place at this time. I remain fully accountable for the pain caused by my words in the past, particularly the hurt I caused to the Jewish and Asian communities, and I remain deeply sorry. I understand that meaningful atonement is not achieved through an exhibition, institutional recognition or a single public gesture. It is a continuing responsibility, demonstrated through listening, learning and one’s conduct over time.

I do not want the debate surrounding me to place the Met in a difficult position or to distract from the remarkable work of the Costume Institute. I also recognize and respect that the exhibition honoring my work would be painful for some. I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to all those who have guided, supported and accompanied me throughout those fifteen years of sobriety and recovery from alcoholism and addiction. Your wisdom, patience and humanity have helped me more than I can ever adequately express. I remain profoundly indebted to you for giving me, as you promised, a life better than I could ever have dreamt of.

My gratitude to the Met, Max, Andrew and Anna remains profound and enduring. Their generosity, humanity and belief in the importance of fashion as art, culture and history – as well as their understanding of human fragility and the possibility of growth – will remain with me always.

With 2 New Macs on the Block, You Can Already Save With This Preorder Deal

Earlier this week, Apple announced two new members of the Mac family: a new Mac mini and a new Mac Studio. The news comes ahead of the Cupertino-based company’s thrilling September 9 ‘Surprise and Shine’ event, where we’re restlessly hoping Apple announces the iPhone 18 Pro, the long-rumored folding iPhone, and possibly even a next-gen Apple Watch. While nothing’s confirmed yet, at least we still have these new Mac systems to fawn over!

The new Mac mini will feature either the famously efficient M5 Pro chip or the brand-new, blisteringly fast M6 chip (which we can’t wait to get our hands on). It’s Apple’s smaller, more affordable desktop computer, and you can preorder the tiny five-by-five-inch PC starting at $899. The swanky new Mac Studio, on the other hand, is for top-of-the-line professionals and creatives. Rocking either the next-gen M5 Max or M5 Ultra chips, it starts at $5,499.

We’re buzzing at the idea of putting them through all our special tests and trials. But until their release on Tuesday, September 22, we’ll just have to sit tight and dream about the processing power!

Both of these brand-new, decked-out desktop computers are available for preorder, and—shockingly—there’s already a deal in sight: When you preorder the M6 Mac mini at Amazon, you can save $20. Not a huge dent by any means, but it’s still a few bucks cheaper than Apple’s $899 list price.

And if you like the idea of an Apple desktop gracing your home office, but don’t necessarily need the buff new chips, you might have a few other opportunities to save—especially if you wait for the actual release date. But since Apple already had to raise its prices due to the memory shortage, no one’s going to give you any side-eye if you opt for a slightly older or different model. So, if the 2024 iMac All-in-One Desktop Computer with the M4 chip strikes your fancy, you can score it for $75 off on Amazon right now!

When we reviewed the 2024 Apple iMac with M4, PCMag expert Brian Westover gave it a glowing “Excellent” review, celebrating its distinctive design, gorgeous display, and overall power, thanks to the M4 chip, which stood head and shoulders above its predecessors. He called it the “smartest iMac yet” and even gave it our Editors’ Choice award for consumer all-in-one PCs.

It might not be the next-gen Mac mini or Mac Studio, but it gets the job done—and this one comes with the screen! But if you’re looking for other options, check out our experts’ list of the best desktop PCs for 2026.

  • Zack Snyder’s ‘The Last Photograph’ to World Premiere at Toronto Film Festival

Zack Snyder’s ‘The Last Photograph’ to World Premiere at Toronto Film Festival

Zack Snyder s going from the epic world of DC superheroes to the Toronto Film Festival with a special event screening for his passion project The Last Photograph.

His jungle-set indie will have a first look at TIFF as an acquisition title as no studio and streamer has yet nabbed the rights to the title. The Last Photograph will debut before fest-goers and possibly buyers on Sunday, Sept. 12, in the John Bassett Theater, a theater in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the Front Street venue for the festival’s inaugural official content market.

The long-in-the-works picture from Snyder sidesteps the zombies, superheroes and starships that made him one of Hollywood’s biggest filmmakers. Starring Stuart Martin and Fra Free, The Last Photograph follows an ex-DEA agent seeking revenge in a South American jungle where dangerous terrain and inner demons combine for drama.

A 2025 synopsis from the producers issued as production got underway described Snyder’s film as: “An ex-DEA operative must return to the mountains of South America in an effort to find his missing niece and nephew, following the brutal murders of their diplomat parents. Enlisting the help of a washed-up junkie war photographer, the only person to have seen the face of the killers, he sets out, determined to find the children and the truth, but soon learns he must also face the ghosts of his past. Their journey into the unknown takes them further and further away from civilization, bringing into question everything they believe, while slowly eroding the distinction between real and surreal.”

Both Martin and Free starred in Snyder’s Rebel Moon movies. Snyder originated The Last Photograph based on his own story and had been developing the war drama since the mid-2000s, after the success of 300.

In the early 2010s, Christian Bale and Sean Penn were attached to star in the long-in-development project, before Snyder took a detour into his DC movies. Longtime colleague Kurt Johnstad and Snyder wrote the script for The Last Photograph after their work together on 300 and Rebel Moon.

  • Randy Quaid Slams Tom Cruise Over Anne Hathaway ‘Days of Thunder 2’ Role: “Anne Isn’t Sexy”

Randy Quaid Slams Tom Cruise Over Anne Hathaway ‘Days of Thunder 2’ Role: “Anne Isn’t Sexy”

There are hot takes, bad takes… and then there is this.

On the heels of Tom Cruise announcing a Days of Thunder sequel — which will return Cruise as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle — Cruise’s former co-star Randy Quaid crudely blasted the action movie icon for picking Oscar winner Anne Hathaway as his co-lead.

In the 1990 original, Quaid played a race team owner who recruits Cole into NASCAR, while Nicole Kidman played a neurosurgeon who becomes Cole’s love interest. In the upcoming Paramount movie, Hathaway will play a team owner and engineer.

“We need Nicole back,” wrote Quaid on X. “Don’t be a pussy, @TomCruise. You need the original girl. It’s not personal; it’s filmmaking. Anne isn’t sexy, because and if you haven’t noticed, she’s pregnant.”

The actor — who has 1.2 million followers and whose feed is full of MAGA-related content — continued: “If I were in control of production, a real sequel worth watching for DAYS OF THUNDER would be seeing Tom and Nicole together on screen again. We don’t need a new girl; we need a new race car! … Anne Hathaway is a leftist, woke, horrible choice for DAYS OF THUNDER NASCAR audience who are MAGA. The sexy older chick for Tom in this film needs to be Nicole. That’s the casting that would sell the idea. It’s interesting because when we made the first one there was also a rush to get it out; editors slept in the cutting room on shifts. This is a weird thing, like they want it to come out and tank.”

Several of Quaid’s followers defended Hathaway, while another noted, “I find it more than a bit performative that you simultaneously argue conservatives in Hollywood should not lose out on work because of their politics but those on the Left should.”

Hathaway is fresh off two blockbusters with The Devil Wears Prada 2 and The Odyssey. She next stars in the title role in Verity, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel.

Quaid’s comments came after the actor posting a video suggesting that he would be a part of the sequel. In the video, he’s driving a car and declared, “Tom Cruise just called me! We’re making Days of Thunder 2!”

    Paramount had no immediate comment.

Jonathan Levine will direct the new Thunder, with Will Staples writing the screenplay. Cruise, Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper are producing. The sequel will be filmed for Imax and released June 2, 2028.

Below are Cruise and Hathaway announcing the film and Quaid’s video.

  • Did Florida weatherman say he feared he could no longer predict hurricanes because of funding cuts?

Did Florida weatherman say he feared he could no longer predict hurricanes because of funding cuts?

    Claim:

During a weather broadcast, meteorologist John Morales said of his ability to predict hurricanes in Florida, “I am not sure I can do that this year because of the cuts, the gutting, the sledgehammer attack on science in general.”

    Rating:

    Correct Attribution

    Context

Morales said these words in June 2025, not in the summer of 2026, as some posts implied. Snopes reached out to him, asking if he felt the same way a year on, and awaits a response.

In August 2026, a rumor spread that Florida weatherman John Morales, of NBC 6 South Florida, had gone off-script during a weather broadcast saying he feared he could no longer accurately predict hurricanes due to government funding cuts enacted by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

As Snopes readers emailed and searched the website seeking to confirm this was true, the claim spread on social media. One Facebook post showed an image of Morales and said he had “suddenly shifted gear” during a broadcast to tell the audience he was no longer certain he could predict the weather “this year” due to “the cuts, the gutting, the sledgehammer attack on science in general” (archived):

Morales did say these words, and as a result we’ve rated the quote correctly attributed. However, he did not say it in the summer of 2026, but in June 2025.

We reached out to Morales to ask if he still felt he could no longer confidently predict the path of hurricanes. We will update this report should he respond.

Snopes identified the video clip in which Morales said he feared he could no longer predict hurricanes due to government funding cuts. It was posted to the YouTube channel of NBC 6 South Florida, a local NBC affiliate, on June 3, 2025:

After re-airing a clip from 2019 in which he discussed Hurricane Dorian, a violent hurricane that had devastated the Bahamas and was moving up the east coast of the U.S., Morales said (at the 00:50 mark):

Lots of people in Florida were concerned the hurricane was heading here. And as you’ve grown accustomed to my presentations over my 34 years in South Florida newscasts, confidently I went on TV and I told you, it’s going to turn. You don’t need to worry. It is going to turn.

And I am here to tell you that I am not sure I can do that this year because of the cuts, the gutting, the sledgehammer attack on science in general.

And I could talk about that for a long, long time and how that is affecting the U.S. leadership in science over many years and how we’re losing that leadership. And this is a multigenerational impact on science in this country. All right.

But specifically, let’s talk about the federal government cuts to the National Weather Service and to NOAA. Did you know that Central and South Florida National Weather Service offices are currently basically 20 to 40% understaffed from Tampa to Key West, including the Miami office? Twenty to 40% understaffed.

Now, this type of staffing shortage is having impacts across the nation because there’s been a nearly 20% reduction in weather balloon releases, launches that carry those radio signs. And what we’re starting to see is that the quality of the forecasts is becoming degraded. There’s also a chance, because of some of these cuts, that NOAA hurricane Hunter aircraft will not be able to fly this year, and with less reconnaissance missions, we may be flying blind, and we may not exactly know how strong a hurricane is before it reaches the coastline, like happened a couple of years ago in Hurricane Otis in Acapulco, Mexico.

At the time, reputable news outlets such as The Independent and The New York Times reported on Morales’ broadcast.

For further reading, Snopes covered several claims related to Trump administration government funding cuts, including the rumor that such cuts caused a screwworm outbreak in the U.S.
