North Korea’s Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of leader Kim Jong Un, has threatened to ‘mercilessly eliminate’ South Korean troops as tensions escalate along the heavily fortified border.

Rumours the North Korean leader has died started when US-based Chinese dissident Xie Wanjun alleged on social media that Kim had collapsed, fallen into a coma and been transferred to Beijing for emergency treatment, where he subsequently died.

No medical records or independently verified evidence were provided.

North Korea appeared to counter the speculation on 20 October by releasing photographs and footage reportedly showing Kim visiting a clothing and footwear exhibition in Pyongyang on 19 October, accompanied by his wife and daughter.

The timing of the images has not been independently verified.

The younger Kim, however, has since warned Seoul of ‘the most horrible and distressing situation’ if South Korea continued to interfere in the North’s internal affairs.

She is threatening to use ‘psychological warfare loudspeakers against South Korea’ within a matter of days, stating that ‘the Blue House and government officials are all clichéd fools’, warning: “If they make even a mistake, they should be prepared for everything.”

It appears Kim isn’t a fan of South Korea’s warning broadcasts and firing in response to North Korean troops crossing North Korean military’s crossing of the Military Demarcation Line (MDL).

After announcing the resumption of loudspeaker broadcasts, she added: “New countermeasures will enter combat readiness along the entire border.

“The South does not even know the meaning of ‘audacity’.

“Calling it provocation while firing at people who did not shoot a single bullet is the definition of audacity.”

While denying North Korea’s frequent MDL crossings and mine planting in the South’s DMZ, she took issue with South Korea’s warning shots toward North Korean troops crossing the MDL.

Kim added: “If the South continues to nitpick, the current administration will face the most humiliating and embarrassing situation.

“The permanent border construction project will continue successfully. Once the border is fortified, many complex issues will be resolved.”

A Ministry of Unification official said in response: “It is ambiguous whether Kim Yo-jong meant the loudspeakers will be turned on or just prepared.

“The last sentence of her statement, ‘We once again warn you to properly assess the situation and correct your words and actions,’ suggests it depends on us.”

LADbible has contacted the North Korean government and the Peking Union Medical College Hospital for comment.
