Who can buy

The funds are open to verified accredited investors in the US and to non-US persons. Grayscale’s disclosure language is blunt: these are private placement securities that are speculative, illiquid, and carry the risk of total loss.

Republic co-CEO Andrew Durgee framed the partnership as a chance for investors to diversify early in these funds’ lifecycles.

What’s actually in the baskets

The DeFi Fund’s holdings cover three distinct parts of the DeFi stack. $UNI (Uniswap’s governance token) represents exchange infrastructure, $AAVE covers lending, and $ONDO covers tokenized real-world assets. $CRV adds stablecoin liquidity, $LDO adds liquid staking, and $ENA adds synthetic dollar exposure.

The AI Fund maps roughly to the supply chain of decentralized machine learning. $FIL provides decentralized storage, $NEAR and $TAO sit on the compute-and-coordination layer, and $RENDER handles decentralized GPU rendering. Together they cover data storage, compute, model training coordination, and inference.

Early reaction

The initial market reaction was muted. Social media engagement on the announcement was modest. A handful of users noted the token exposure, and one commenter suggested Grayscale should add Pendle to the DeFi Fund. No viral takes, no panic, no euphoria.
