    Broadway Box Office: ‘Moulin Rouge’ Hits $2.3 Million In Closing Week

    Moulin Rouge! shot up to $2.3 million in its final week on Broadway, marking the highest gross the musical has seen in several years on Broadway. 

    The show played its final performance Aug. 30, played to more than 100 percent capacity, with average paid admission of $223.46, the highest of the industry last week. In its final week, the musical welcomed back Aaron Tveit as a cast member for most of its performances, with other original cast members joining on stage for a number during the final performance. This is an impressive tally for the musical, which recently saw Megan Thee Stallion star in the show, even though it pales in comparison to the $2.7 million the musical brought in over 9 performances over Christmas week in 2019.

    This was the highest grossing musical of the week, followed by Hamilton with $2 million, MJ with $1.7 million, The Lion King with $1.59 million and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which recently announced the upcoming addition to Rupert Grint to the cast, with $1.57 million 

    Paranormal Activity opened on Broadway Aug. 25, receiving positive reviews for translating horror to the stage. In its opening week, which included a fully comped opening night, the play brought in $735,747 and played to 99 percent capacity.

    Ahead of the slow Labor Day period, several shows hovered around 60 percent capacity, including Six: The Musical, which recently announced a Jan. 3 closing, Stranger Things, which is also closing in January and Two Strangers (Carry A Cake Across New York), which has been seeing low capacity for the past several weeks. 

    Overall, grosses were up close to 4 percent from the prior week and attendance was up 2 percent.

    Zeze Takahisa’s ‘Sukiyaki’ to Open Tokyo Film Festival

    The 39th edition Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) will open on Oct. 26 with a gala screening of Zeze Takahisa’s music drama Sukiyaki. Festival organizers also revealed that Yeon Sang-ho‘s zombie action horror film Colony will close this year’s event on Nov. 4.

    Based on true events, Sukiyaki tells the story behind the famed Japanese pop song “Sukiyaki,” sung by crooner Kyu Sakamoto. The song topped the charts in a forward-looking post-war Japan but remarkably became a global phenomenon, holding the No.1 spot on U.S. Billboard charts for three consecutive weeks in 1963. The film, which is a sure-fire bet to be a hit when it opens in Japanese theaters on Dec. 25, depicts the history-making collaboration between the song’s composer Nakamura Hachidai (Okada Junichi), lyricist Ei Rokusuke (Matsuzaka Tori), and Sakamoto (Nakano Taiga).

    “Sukiyaki tells the dramatic stories of three artists who inspired people in postwar Japan, interwoven with a collection of musical masterpieces. We are delighted to open the festival with this moving film, which stars three of today’s most prominent Japanese actors,” said Ichiyama Shozo, TIFF’s programming director.

    TIFF’s closing film this year will be the wonderfully inventive Korean zombie film Colony, that that wowed genre fans when it premiered in the Midnight Screenings section of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. The film tells the story of a biological weapon being unleashed inside a Seoul skyscraper that turns the people trapped inside the building into a deadly zombie hive mind. Colony was a huge hit when it was released in South Korean cinemas and won plaudits from critics. The movie comes from Yeon, the director behind Korean classics such as Train to Busan, Seoul Station and Peninsula. The prolific filmmaker also created the hit Netflix shows Hellbound and Parasyte: The Grey.

    “Colony delivered the greatest excitement and emotional impact among the films at this year’s
    Cannes,” said Ichiyama. “While an overwhelming number of zombie films have been produced, this film makes us realize that the genre still possesses untapped potential.”

    Additionally, TIFF has also announced that it will screen Takashi Yamazaki‘s Godzilla Minus Zero as a special Centerpiece screening at the festival. The hotly anticipated film, a followup to the Oscar-winning global box office smash Godzilla Minus One, has the distinction of being the first Japanese production to be filmed for Imax. The logline for the film reads, “War reduced Japan to zero, and Godzilla plunged it even further, into minus territory. Two yearshave passed since then, and the country has faced agonizing struggles to achieve recovery andfinally return to normalcy. But just as humanity is clinging to a hard-won peace, a new threatstrikes, crushing hope in an instant.”

    Said Ichiyama, “Godzilla Minus Zero is a true sequel to Godzilla Minus One, one of the standouts in the Godzilla series, and it brings a powerful new interpretation of Godzilla, delivering a level of surprise that far exceeds expectations. It is a masterpiece that was truly meant to be made in these challenging times.”

    TIFF 2026 runs from Oct. 26 through to Nov. 4.

    ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ Named Centerpiece of Tokyo Film Festival as ‘Sukiyaki’ Opens, ‘Colony’ Closes

    “Godzilla Minus Zero” will screen as the centerpiece of the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival, with Zeze Takahisa’s music drama “Sukiyaki” opening the festival and Yeon Sang-ho‘s zombie thriller “Colony” closing it.

    Director Yamazaki Takashi, who also wrote and oversaw visual effects on the film, returns with “Godzilla Minus Zero” as a follow-up to “Godzilla Minus One,” which won the Academy Award for best visual effects at the 96th Academy Awards. The film stars Kamiki Ryunosuke and Hamabe Minami and marks the first time a Japanese feature has been shot for Imax screens. Set two years after the events of the prior film, the story follows a Japan still struggling to recover when a new threat emerges. Festival materials frame it as the conclusion of the story that began with “Godzilla Minus One.” Toho Co., Ltd. will release the film in Japan on Nov. 3.

    In a statement, Ichiyama Shozo, TIFF programming director, said “Godzilla Minus Zero” is “a true sequel to ‘Godzilla Minus One,’ one of the standouts in the Godzilla series, and it brings a powerful new interpretation of Godzilla, delivering a level of surprise that far exceeds expectations.”

    “Sukiyaki,” directed by Zeze Takahisa from a screenplay by Minato Takehiko, chronicles the making of the 1963 song “Sukiyaki,” which held the No. 1 spot on the U.S. Billboard chart for three consecutive weeks. The film centers on composer Nakamura Hachidai, lyricist Ei Rokusuke and singer Sakamoto Kyu, played respectively by Okada Junichi, Matsuzaka Tori and Nakano Taiga. Toho will release the film in Japan on Dec. 25.

The Korean zombie thriller follows Professor Se Jeong, who becomes trapped in a Seoul skyscraper during a bioterror attack and witnesses infected hosts evolving with a collective intelligence. The cast includes Gianna Jun, Koo Kyo-hwan and Ji Chang-wook. The film had its world premiere in a Cannes midnight screening before topping box office charts in Korea and elsewhere in Asia. Gaga Corporation will distribute the film in Japan in 2027.

    Ichiyama called “Colony” the film that “delivered the greatest excitement and emotional impact among the films at this year’s Cannes,” adding that while zombie films are common, “this film makes us realize that the genre still possesses untapped potential.”

    The 39th Tokyo International Film Festival, hosted by Unijapan, runs Oct. 26 to Nov. 4 in Tokyo. The festival overlaps with TIFFCOM 2026, an industry market organized by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and Unijapan, running Oct. 28-30.

    Tony Romo Pleads No Contest to DWI Charge, Says He’s Seeking Help for Alcohol Use

    CBS Sports commentator and former NFL quarterback Tony Romo entered a no contest plea Tuesday in a drunk driving case in his home state of Wisconsin. Romo also said he will seek medical help for what he called an “over-reliance” on alcohol.

    Romo’s plea comes after he was arrested in July on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was also cited for having an open bottle of alcohol in the SUV he was driving, unsafe passing on the right and refusing to take a test for intoxication after he was arrested.

    First offenses for OWI in Wisconsin are considered a civil offense. Romo will have his driver’s license for six months, have ignition interlock devices installed on any vehicles he owns and wll have to complete an alcohol assessment program and pay a fine.

    In a statement posted to his social media accounts, Romo said that he “faced a recent personal failure” with his no contest plea and said he turned to drinking to manage chronic pain resulting from his NFL career.

    “Multiple back surgeries ended my career earlier than expected and left me with constant, debilitating pain,” the former Dallas Cowboys QB wrote. “That pain led to a dependence on pain medication, and my efforts to get off those medications led to an over-reliance on alcohol.

    “As I have taught my three young sons: When you fall short, you stand up and take full responsibility. That is an important first step. The harder and more important step is examining the path that brought you here and making the changes necessary to move forward. That path requires honesty.

    “None of this is an excuse. These are my failures, and I take responsibility for them.”

    CBS Sports placed Romo on leave following his arrest. Romo’s statement says that “in time” he hopes to return to the NFL booth, but in the immediate future, “I am working closely with a team of doctors to address my health and make the necessary changes.”

    While Romo is on leave, JJ Watt will serve as the lead NFL analyst for CBS, joining play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson.

    Cronos validators erase transaction history to contain massive $75 million lending protocol exploit

    Cronos has restarted and restored block production after validators restored the chain to its state before the Tectonic exploit, replacing an open-ended network halt with a monitored restart. In an Aug. 31 update, Cronos said the restarted chain was producing blocks from block 90,896,189, with a timestamp of 23:49:01 UTC on Aug. 30.

    The network said it was fully back online, but added that some protocols, RPC providers, explorers and bridges could take longer to recover. Cronos also said it was monitoring the chain for stability and would publish a full postmortem. Those details superseded a 05:24 UTC update on Aug. 31 that said the network remained halted while the investigation continued.

    Cronos had announced the halt on Aug. 30 after identifying an exploit at Tectonic, a decentralized lending protocol on the chain. The response made the wider blockchain, rather than only Tectonic, unavailable while validators and security teams assessed the incident.

    Tectonic separately acknowledged an incident and told users not to interact with the protocol until it confirmed that doing so was safe.

    How the Tectonic exploit unfolded

    Onchain researcher Weilin Li attributed the exploit to manipulation of TONIC, Tectonic’s thinly traded governance token. According to Li’s analysis, the attacker inflated TONIC’s price and used the token as collateral to borrow other assets from Tectonic.

    The protocol’s documentation lists a 20% collateral factor for TONIC in a parameter table dated May 2025. However, that historical table does not establish the configuration at the time of the incident.

    Li initially estimated that about $66 million was affected, then raised the figure to roughly $75 million after identifying another attacker-controlled address. He estimated that only about $6 million was bridged to Ethereum before Cronos halted, leaving most of the affected assets on the network. The figures and attack mechanism remain Li’s assessment rather than an official accounting.

    What the Cronos restart changes

    The restart relied on restoring the chain state to before the Tectonic exploit. Cronos said node operators could restart on version 1.7.8 using updated mainnet snapshots. The network did not say in the cited update how the rollback would affect all transactions submitted during the discarded period.

    The difference between Li’s total estimate and the reported bridge flow helps explain why the validator halt may have limited onward movement. However, Cronos and Tectonic have not published a confirmed loss, an official root-cause analysis or a complete account of how attacker-controlled assets will be handled.

    Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek said the company’s app and exchange were unaffected, were operating normally and had sent security staff to assist Cronos. That assurance applies to Crypto.com’s services, not to Tectonic depositors.

    The immediate uncertainty has shifted from when Cronos will restart to how quickly connected services recover and what the promised postmortem establishes. Those details will determine the final accounting and whether Tectonic users can resume normal activity.

    Debi Mazar says the set of “Entourage” became “toxic” after she gave birth to her second child, claiming “they didn’t like that I got fat.”

    In an interview with The Times U.K., the actress described being on the HBO show around Season 3 as “complicated” because “I’d had my second baby and they didn’t like that I got fat, even though I got skinny again. It was complicated because I’m outspoken and never held back my discontent. But I always was professional and I’m grateful I was on it. It was a lot of fun, until it wasn’t.”

    “Entourage” premiered in 2004, with Season 3 running from 2006-07. Mazar gave birth to her second daughter in March 2006. She and her husband, Italian chef Gabriele Corcos, married in 2002 and have two daughters.

    Mazar called making the first season of the series a “joy-fest,” but added: “In the third season, the set was a testosterone-fuelled environment. I’m tough, but it got toxic towards the end for me.”

    Mazar played Shauna Roberts, the press agent of Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) on “Entourage” for its entire duration from 2004-2011, first as a recurring character in Season 1 before joining the main cast in Season 2. She later reprised the role in the 2015 “Entourage” film. The show won six Emmy Awards and one Golden Globe during its tenure.

    Mazar previously spoke about her “Entourage” character on PeopleTV’s “Couch Surfing” in 2020. She says Shauna was “a lot of fun to play,” but also noted the nature of the show’s culture behind the scenes by saying: “I took a job to make money. I mean, [creator Doug Ellin] wrote a really strong character, but that set was very testosterone-driven and misogynistic.”

    Noah Jupe is the latest actor to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the “Hamnet” and “A Quiet Place” star tapped to play a top-secret role in “Avengers: Secret Wars.”

    The superhero team-up movie is the follow-up to “Avengers: Doomsday,” which doesn’t debut until December. Marvel had no comment on Jupe’s casting.

    Production on “Secret Wars,” which will also be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, is set to begin production later this year. Disney has slated the film for release on Dec. 17, 2027.

    Deadline first reported Jupe’s involvement. He is repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

    Which Altcoins Are Linked to the Robinhood Chain, the Hottest Topic of Late?

    Robinhood’s ecosystem, built around its own Layer-2 network, Robinhood Chain, is creating a new narrative in the cryptocurrency market. Recently, projects such as Lighter ($LIT), Morpho ($MORPHO), Uniswap ($UNI), LayerZero ($ZRO), Chainlink ($LINK), and Arbitrum ($ARB) have come to the attention of investors, and Robinhood’s official documents clarify the roles of these projects within the network.

    Robinhood Chain launched its mainnet on July 1, 2026. The blockchain, an Ethereum-compatible Layer-2 network, was developed directly using Arbitrum technology. Robinhood is positioning the network specifically for tokenized real-world assets (RWA), equity tokens, decentralized finance applications, and AI-based financial transactions. The network aims to offer 100-millisecond block times and leverage Ethereum’s security infrastructure.

    One of the cryptocurrencies most directly linked to Robinhood Chain is Arbitrum ($ARB). The network operates on Arbitrum’s Dedicated Blockchains infrastructure. Robinhood previously launched tokenized US shares on Arbitrum One, then migrated its operations to its own Robinhood Chain. The Arbitrum team also announced that Robinhood Chain has joined more than 30 private blockchains built using its technology.

    Another notable component of the ecosystem is Lighter ($LIT). Direct perpetual futures trading support via Lighter has been integrated into Robinhood Wallet. Users in select regions can trade perpetual contracts on Lighter without leaving Robinhood Wallet. Furthermore, Lighter has allocated 11 million $LIT tokens for the Robinhood community. Transactions made on Lighter through Robinhood Wallet earn higher points, which are planned to be converted into tokens from this $LIT pool.

    The connection on the Morpho ($MORPHO) side is not just a technical integration. Morpho provides the core lending infrastructure for Robinhood’s new Robinhood Earn product. The system, which aims to allow users to earn returns using $USDG stablecoins, uses Robinhood Chain as the consensus layer for transactions, while Morpho serves as the underlying lending market. According to Morpho’s official data, as of the end of August, the total amount of deposits on the protocol built on Robinhood Chain reached approximately $936.6 million, while active loans amounted to approximately $415 million.

    Uniswap ($UNI) has become one of Robinhood Chain’s core decentralized transaction infrastructures. Uniswap v2, v3, v4, and UniswapX were launched alongside the network’s mainnet, positioning Uniswap as Robinhood Chain’s primary public AMM (Automated Market Module). Users can trade tokens, provide liquidity, and interact with tokenized shares on Robinhood Chain via Uniswap.

    The Chainlink ($LINK) connection is critical to Robinhood’s tokenized traditional asset strategy. Robinhood Chain selected Chainlink as its official data and cross-chain oracle infrastructure. Chainlink’s Data Feeds, Data Streams, and CCIP products were deployed along with the network’s mainnet. The integration is used for price data of Robinhood Stock Tokens linked to companies like NVIDIA, Google, and Apple, as well as for cross-chain transactions.

    Another directly related project is LayerZero ($ZRO). While LayerZero was among the infrastructure providers during Robinhood Chain’s testnet phase, it has also become a significant part of the cross-chain transfer infrastructure on the mainnet. In Robinhood’s official documentation, LayerZero OFT and Stargate are listed among the options that enable fast token transfers between Robinhood Chain and other blockchains. Specifically, $USDG’s structure on Robinhood Chain utilizes LayerZero’s OFT standard.
