  • Andy Cohen Calls ‘Summer House’ Reunion “Very Intense” and Says a Fan Helped Crack the Audio Leak Case: “I Was So Mad”

Andy Cohen is shedding some light on what he’s called the “most emotional ever” Bravo reunion for Summer House, and is condemning the person who leaked audio from the “very intense” cast gathering, which Cohen called an illegal violation.

Over the weekend, Bravo concluded their investigation into audio from the reunion that leaked online, determining that it was a person “involved in the production of the reunion” — and not a castmember, despite social media speculation — who released an unauthorized recording from the highly anticipated taping that took place Thursday in New York City, which won’t air for another month, on May 26.

Investigators were brought on to probe the leak, however Cohen said on his SiriusXM Radio Andy show Monday that, though this team of investigators were “on it,” it was “a Bravo fan — who you’re gonna hear more about — who cracked the case … [and] delivered crucial information.”

Cohen sounded very excited about this fan — with Bravo and Cocktails reporting that it could be Bravo superfan Jennifer Lawrence. The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to the network for comment.

Cohen, who confirmed there is more audio out there that hasn’t yet been leaked, called the reunion “one of the most emotional” they’ve ever shot, but also “one of the most emotionally draining.”

The 10-hour taping, which began at 10:30 a.m. and wrapped around 8 p.m. (with a one-hour break for lunch), was the first time the cast gathered to discuss the Summer House mega-scandal that is giving echoes to the Scandoval era for Vanderpump Rules — with Amanda Batula and West Wilson’s relationship being exposed after filming wrapped on the currently airing 10th season.

For the uninitiated: This relationship is a betrayal since Wilson is the on-and-off ex-boyfriend of Batula’s close friend and co-star Ciara Miller, and Batula is married to co-star Kyle Cooke; Batula and Cooke announced their separation in January.

Bravo’s reunions are a closed set usually comprised of only the cast, production and glam, though the latter are not on the live set or in a distance to hear audio.

“There were so many emotions on that stage — deep anger, deep hurt,” said Cohen of the cast. “This situation has truly sent shockwaves through this group, and I know that’s a Chris Harrison kind of ‘most dramatic rose ceremony ever’ statement, but it really has caused shockwaves through the group in ways that I didn’t even realize until I sat there looking into the faces and hearing from some of these housemates.”

Which is why Cohen says he was “so mad” when he woke up the next morning — extra early for an eye surgery — and learned through social media that audio leaked, for the first time ever for a Bravo reunion. Cohen hosted the reunion, as he does every reunion on the network where he serves as executive producer and host of late-night talk show Watch What Happens Live!.

“When I tell you that I was mad. It felt like a … violation. I just thought: Wow. Here’s this cast. They all showed up. And they all laid themselves totally barren. And a leak… it just totally demeans the work of this crew and this cast. And especially, again, just all of them for showing up and sitting there and taking it.”

As for the cast incorrectly being blamed online for the leak, Cohen said he knew immediately that no one from the group leaked it. “[There were] dumb takes and reasons why they would have leaked it: To get a better edit, to get a worse edit, to protect themselves, to combat others. I was like, ‘This is stupid.’ And I love this cast. I felt so bad in the next 24 hours after that the cast was feeling the need to come out and say, ‘I didn’t do it. I didn’t leak it.’ I was so mad.”

On Sunday, Bravo released the following statement: “An investigation into the recent leak of the Summer House reunion audio has concluded that the audio was an unauthorized recording and distributed by an individual involved in the production of the reunion.  As a result of the findings, appropriate action has been taken. There is no evidence that any member of the cast was involved in the recording of the audio.”

The statement continued, “We take these matters seriously and will continue to take appropriate measures to respond to the unauthorized distribution of our content. We are aware that there is additional improperly obtained audio circulating and we caution all parties and platforms to refrain from posting, sharing, or amplifying any unauthorized audio.”

Summer House has four more episodes left before the multi-part reunion begins airing on May 26.

Harry Styles and Zoë Kravitz Are Engaged

Wedding bells are ringing for Harry Styles and Zoë Kravitz.

The couple is engaged, per People, which cited a source in confirming the news that came after paparazzi photographs surfaced last week showing Kravitz wearing a massive diamond sparkler on her ring finger and kissing Styles in London. The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to a rep for Kravitz but has yet to hear back as of press time.

Page Six also confirmed the news per a source, writing that Styles is head over heels: “He is completely smitten. He would jump off a cliff for her.”

Engagement reports come after the couple was first linked in August 2025, when they were spotted together in Rome. According to online gossip site Deuxmoi, they were also seen together at a restaurant in London shortly before that outing.

Per People, they’ve been spending much of their time in Europe. “Harry’s been spending long stretches of time in Rome this year. Zoë has joined him several times since late summer,” the mag reported. “They just stroll around, meet up with friends and live a very relaxed life. They have great chemistry.”

No word yet on a wedding date. But Styles has big plans already for 2026. He’s set to kick off his Together, Together global tour in May in support of his anticipated album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. The residency-style tour launches at Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam on May 16, and then moves on to London’s Wembley Stadium, Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros and New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Kravitz, who most recently starred in Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing opposite Austin Butler, next stars in How to Rob a Bank for David Leitch. She was previously married to Karl Glusman from June 2019 to August 2021. The Batman star was then engaged to Channing Tatum, who starred in her feature directorial debut Blink Twice.

In an interview with Apple Music, Styles hinted that he was ready to settle down after seeing some of his closest friends lead the way. “I watched my three closest friends get married, and actually seeing them trust in something and risk something to find something truly fulfilling in a way that isn’t as like shiny and on paper as exciting,” Styles said when explaining the lyrics to his song “American Girls.” “Watching them get married, I was like, ‘I’m single, so I’m having all the fun,’ and ‘American Girls’ is actually about watching them get married, and there just is a magic when you find the right person that you want to be with. I think watching them do that and seeing that it doesn’t come without any uncertainty, it doesn’t come without any risk.”

Tom Lee’s BitMine Makes Biggest Ethereum Buy So Far in 2026, Hitting 5 Million ETH Milestone

    In brief

    • BitMine Immersion Technologies made it biggest weekly Ethereum purchase so far in 2026.
    • The company now holds over 5 million ETH, valued around $11.75 billion.
    • Ethereum’s price has climbed 16% over the last month, but remains down more than 50% from its 2025 peak.

BitMine Immersion Technologies, the top Ethereum treasury firm by total holdings, said Monday that it made its largest weekly purchase so far in 2026, pushing its total Ethereum stash past the 5 million mark.

The company added 101,901 ETH over the last week, edging out the previous week’s haul of 101,627 ETH to rank as the firm’s largest weekly ETH buy so far this year. Last week’s total included a 10,000 ETH over-the-counter purchase from the Ethereum Foundation, which announced the sale on Friday.

All told, the company now holds 5,078,386 ETH, currently valued around $11.75 billion.

“This is a major milestone as the company moves towards acquiring 5% of the ETH supply,” said BitMine Chairman Tom Lee, in a statement. “And this pace of accumulation is astonishing, taking only 10 months to reach 5 million.” (Disclosure: Lee is an investor in Dastan, the parent company of an editorially independent Decrypt.)

Ethereum is roughly flat over the last week, recently trading at $2,315, though it has risen about 16% over the last 30 days per data from CoinGecko as a Middle East ceasefire has given investors more confidence in handling risk assets.

Still, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap remains more than 53% off its all-time high mark of $4,946 set last August, around the time that BitMine started amassing large amounts of ETH. Even with the sizable decline, Lee said that he’s confident that the tide is turning on the slump.

“Several recent research reports, including the latest research by Etherealize, argue ETH is a ‘store of value’ and will be held as collateral as digital assets are increasingly used in financial transactions,” said Lee, in a statement. “This new role for ETH has arguably been demonstrated by its outperformance since the Iran War commenced. ETH has outperformed the S&P 500 by 1,696 basis points since the war started and remains the single best performing asset in the world (beside crude oil prices).”

BitMine’s stock (BMNR) is down slightly on the day since the opening bell, dipping 0.3% to a recent price of $22.08.

  • Microsoft and OpenAI Rework AI Deal, Cutting Exclusivity and AGI Provisions

Microsoft and OpenAI Rework AI Deal, Cutting Exclusivity and AGI Provisions

    In brief

    • Microsoft and OpenAI amended their partnership to reduce mutual dependence.
    • Microsoft will no longer be the exclusive licensee of OpenAI’s tech, and revenue-sharing arrangements between the companies will end.
    • The changes take effect immediately while Microsoft retains its stake valued at over $135 billion.

Microsoft will continue licensing OpenAI’s technology through 2032, but is ending its exclusive partnership with the AI company, according to announcements from both firms Monday.

Under the restructured agreement, OpenAI can serve all its products to customers across any cloud provider, ending Microsoft’s previous status as exclusive cloud partner. Revenue share payments from OpenAI to Microsoft will continue through 2030, though other revenue-sharing arrangements are eliminated.

The new agreement removes complex language that could have changed the partnership if OpenAI declared it had reached artificial general intelligence, or AGI. Microsoft’s stake in OpenAI is valued at more than $135 billion, according to the New York Times.

Microsoft retains its license to OpenAI intellectual property for models and products through 2032, preserving the tech giant’s access to the underlying technology while OpenAI gains operational independence.

The partnership restructuring follows Microsoft’s earlier moves to diversify its AI relationships. In September, Microsoft said it would reduce reliance on OpenAI by purchasing models from rival Anthropic. Just recently, Microsoft launched an AI-powered tool called Copilot Researcher, which combines OpenAI’s GPT and Anthropic’s Claude with impressive results.

When OpenAI raised $110 billion in fresh funding from Amazon, SoftBank, and Nvidia in February, the startup and Microsoft issued a joint statement saying that they continue to be close allies despite the AI giant’s growing list of supporters.

“Microsoft and OpenAI continue to work closely across research, engineering, and product development, building on years of deep collaboration and shared success,” they said in February. “Microsoft maintains its exclusive license and access to intellectual property across OpenAI models and products. Collaborations like the partnership between OpenAI and Amazon were always contemplated under our agreements and Microsoft is excited to see what they build together.”

Microsoft’s stock (MSFT) is down slightly since the opening bell on Monday, recently trading at $423 per share—down about 0.3% on the day so far.

  • Melania Trump blasts Kimmel, calls on ABC to ‘take stand’ against comedian

Melania Trump blasts Kimmel, calls on ABC to ‘take stand’ against comedian

President Donald Trump has joined his wife Melania Trump in calling on the ABC TV network to take action against comedian Jimmy Kimmel for jokes targeting her as the debate over free speech, polarising rhetoric and political violence grows louder in the United States.

Melania Trump on Monday accused the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! of deepening “the political sickness within America” with his comedy, two days after gunfire erupted outside the White House correspondents dinner, which Trump and her husband attended.

“People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate. A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him,” the first lady wrote on X.

“Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”

For his part, President Trump called for sacking the comedian. “Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC,” Trump wrote in a social media post, mentioning ABC’s parent company.

It is highly unusual for the president and his wife to call on a TV network to deplatform a comedian. The First Amendment of the US Constitution bans the government from censoring speech.

The shooting late on Saturday happened when a gunman tried to enter the hall where the Trumps and top officials were in attendance. Afterwards, a video of Kimmel poking fun at Melania Trump sparked outrage from some members of the president’s Republican Party.

At an “alternative” White House correspondents dinner on his show on Thursday, Kimmel said: “Our first lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.”

While the joke played on the perception that the first lady often appears unhappy in public, Trump’s supporters linked the line to the shooting.

President Trump described it as a “despicable call to violence”.

Kimmel also mocked the first lady’s documentary, Melania, which faltered at the box office and was not well-received by critics.

“I want to congratulate you, madam first lady, on your huge accomplishment – the world’s first motionless picture,” Kimmel said.

Last year, ABC suspended Kimmel after the Trump administration threatened to take action against the network over commentary by the comedian suggesting that the killer of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk may have been a Republican.

“We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Brendan Carr, head of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), said at that time.

“These companies can find ways to change conduct to take action on Kimmel or, you know, there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead,” he said.

After a backlash from free speech advocates, ABC reinstated Kimmel less than a week later.

The White House hit out at Kimmel on Monday, echoing the Trumps’ criticism.

“Just two days prior to the shooting, ABC’s late night host Jimmy Kimmel disgustingly called first lady Melania Trump, an expectant widow who, in their right minds, says a wife would be glowing over the potential murder of her beloved husband,” White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told reporters.

Leavitt blamed what she called “deranged lies and smears against the president” for political violence targeting Trump.

For years, Republicans have decried any regulations on speech, particularly around the COVID-19 pandemic, and condemned “cancel culture”, efforts to deplatform or sack people over their political views.

But since returning to the White House in January last year, Trump has led an effort to punish criticism of Israel with a campaign of deportation against noncitizens – including legal permanent residents – who have been involved in Palestinian rights advocacy.

The shooting on Saturday was the third apparent assassination attempt against President Trump since 2024. It sparked calls to soften political language to address the motives behind political violence.

But Trump himself has a long history of harsh rhetoric. Last week, the president shared a post calling for the assassination of Iranian officials who are rejecting a deal with Washington.

Earlier this month, he threatened to destroy Iranian “civilisation”.

LISTEN: Record Opening for ‘Michael’ Thrills Exhibitors and Fans; Surprise Madonna Appearance Lights Up West Hollywood

On today’s episode of “Daily Variety” podcast, in our Box Office segment, Variety’s Rebecca Rubin breaks down the recording-setting opening for Lionsgate’s musical biopic “Michael.” And Marc Malkin brings us a Just for Variety report on Madonna’s surprise visit to the Abbey in West Hollywood.

Listen to the full episode here:

Lionsgate had high hopes for “Michael,” but a global opening weekend number of more than $200 million was beyond their expectations — happily so. Rubin notes she’s been looking at 2018’s Freddie Mercury and Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody” as a benchmark. That film garnered more than $900 million worldwide. As a film, “Michael” also has other similarities to the “Bohemian Rhapsody,” she cites.

“It reminded me a lot of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ which really leaned heavily on recreating these thrilling concert sequences. It makes it a fun experience for the viewer to watch in an auditorium with great sound and great visuals, and it makes it fun to watch with other people,” Rubin observes. “So by leaning heavily on recreating performances of songs that people love, it just makes for a fun experience in the theater.”

As with all things involving Jackson, who died in 2009 at the age of 50, revisiting his story is challenging in light of the numerous, serious allegations of child sexual abuse that were leveled at the superstar in the last 15 years of his life. But, after this weekend, the audience has spoken.

“A lot of critics took issue with the fact that ‘Michael’ is a very sanitized approach to the life of Michael Jackson. It ends before he was ever accused of child sexual abuse, and so people feel like it’s leaving out a very important part of his life. but for audiences think that the end result ended up being the most crowd pleasing version of this film,” Rubin says. “Given the fact that it has really strong audience scores, it looks like it’s going to have a long life in theaters. And I spoke this morning to Lionsgate’s motion picture chairman, Adam Fogelson, and he was saying that you don’t deliver this kind of opening weekend number unless you are catering to every conceivable demographic.”

The remarkably strong showing for “Michael” is welcome news for exhibitors and bodes well for a strong spring with “The Devil Wears Prada 2” bowing this weekend. Rubin notes that the popcorn buckets dispensed for “Prada 2” will be in the shape of purses in an effort to make the long-awaited sequel feel like an event.

Madonna also made it event this past Saturday night in West Hollywood. As Malkin reports, the Material Girl made “an epic, and I mean epic surprise appearance Saturday night at West Hollywood LGBTQ bar and nightclub The Abbey.” The occasion also served as a birthday party for the owner of The Abbey, Tristan Schukraft, who got a special present hand-delivered by Madonna.

  • Valve’s Steam Controller costs $99 and arrives May 4

Valve’s Steam Controller will hit the market on Monday, May 4, for a going price of $99 in the United States. The Steam Controller does precisely what it says: It communicates with anything running Steam or the Steam Link app, so this includes PCs, Macs, mobile devices and the Steam Deck.

Eventually, the Steam Controller will connect to the new Steam Machine console and Steam Frame VR headset, but neither of these products have solid release dates just yet. They were originally slated to come out in early 2026 alongside the Steam Controller, but we’re nearly five months into the year and only a third of that promise is poised to be fulfilled. Valve in March said it hopes to ship in 2026, dropping the “early” bit.

As noted in our review, the Steam Controller is a solid gamepad, especially for the price. It feels and looks a lot like a Steam Deck, complete with two trackpads beneath a pair of TMR thumbsticks and a standard face array. It’s reactive, ergonomic, and comes with a cute little charging and connection puck that snaps onto the bottom of the gamepad. Just note that the Steam Controller is not a PC controller: It works with Steam, and only Steam. You’ll have to add games with their own launchers like Overwatch, Valorant, Minecraft or Fortnite to your Steam library before playing them with Valve’s proprietary controller. How convenient — for Valve, at least.

Worldwide, Steam Controller prices are as follows:

  • Star Trek: Strange New Worlds returns for its penultimate season on July 23

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds returns for its fourth season via Paramount Plus on July 23. The ten episodes air weekly until September 24. This is actually the second-to-last batch of episodes, as the show was recently renewed for a fifth and final season.

The streamer has dropped a trailer for season four and it looks promising. The tone looks slightly darker when compared to season three, which was maligned for being a bit too silly and uneven. The trailer is narrated by Anson Mount’s Captain Christopher Pike, who discusses the “terror” of space as a planet explodes.

This is still Strange New Worlds, so it won’t be all doom and gloom. The trailer shows us a screeching alien dinosaur, which is pretty fun. There have also been reports that season four will feature a puppet episode with involvement from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.

This new batch of episodes will lean even heavier into connections to the original Star Trek show from the 1960s. Paul Wesley’s version of Captain Kirk features prominently in several scenes, with one looking like a direct callback to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. A younger Scotty also makes an appearance.

For the uninitiated, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is a prequel to the first show and starts several years before Kirk takes over as captain of the Enterprise. It’s been said that the series will end with Kirk taking the big chair. It’s also primarily an episodic series, with no real serialized season-long arcs. It’s pretty good!

It’s also ending in the near future. Season five will presumably premiere next year and will include just six episodes. As a matter of fact, it looks like the modern incarnation of Star Trek is ending in totality. Sets are being taken down and there are currently no new shows in production for the first time in a decade.

This is a bummer, even if I didn’t always love some of the newer content. The upcoming second season of Starfleet Academy will be its last, which is exceptionally sad because it was really beginning to fire on all cylinders. It was 12 years between the final episode of Star Trek: Enterprise and the first episode of Star Trek: Discovery, which kicked off the modern era. Who knows how long we’ll have to wait this time.

  • China blocks Meta’s $2 billion Manus acquisition over AI security concerns

China blocks Meta’s $2 billion Manus acquisition over AI security concerns

China has ordered Meta to unwind its more than $2 billion acquisition of AI startup Manus, escalating Beijing’s scrutiny of US investment in Chinese linked frontier technology companies.

The National Development and Reform Commission said its foreign investment security review office would prohibit foreign investment in Manus and require the parties involved to withdraw the acquisition transaction. The order did not name Meta directly, but Reuters reported that the move targets Meta’s completed purchase of the AI agent startup.

The decision marks a rare attempt by Beijing to reverse a completed cross border technology deal involving a company that had shifted its operations outside China. Manus shut its China offices in July after a $75 million Benchmark led funding round in May 2025, laid off dozens of employees, and moved operations to Singapore through parent company Butterfly Effect.

Meta acquired Manus to strengthen its AI agent ambitions, a fast growing area focused on tools that can complete complex tasks with limited human input. Manus develops general purpose AI agents capable of tasks such as app development, market research, and financial planning.

Beijing’s intervention suggests Chinese regulators are no longer looking only at where a target company is incorporated. Reuters cited legal analysts who said China may review the origin of the technology, the location of research and development, the nationality of founding teams, prior China operations, data flows, and offshore restructuring when judging sensitive technology transactions.

The move also targets a practice sometimes described as Singapore washing, where Chinese linked startups move operations to Singapore to access foreign capital and reduce regulatory exposure.

Analysts quoted by Reuters said the Manus case raises the compliance threshold for startups in sensitive sectors, especially if their intellectual property, data, research teams, or founding history remain tied to China.

Meta said the transaction complied fully with applicable law and that it expected an appropriate resolution to the inquiry. The case comes weeks before a planned mid May summit between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, placing the deal directly inside the broader US China contest over artificial intelligence, chips, data, and strategic technology control.
