The cryptocurrency platform CoW DAO announced the approval of a compensation plan for users affected by the domain hijacking attack in April. According to the announcement, affected users must complete their applications by May 14th.

The CoW DAO announced that on April 14, the domain name registrar was subjected to a social engineering attack. The attacker reportedly seized control of the official domain for approximately 4.5 hours, during which time they redirected users to fake websites, encouraging them to approve malicious actions.

While the project team maintains that the attack did not directly affect the CoW Protocol infrastructure, they did acknowledge that some user assets were compromised during that time period.

Following the incident, it was reported that the CoW DAO Community Governance Proposal CIP-86 was accepted and that the creation of an optional compensation fund to cover the losses of affected users was approved.

According to the official announcement, eligible users need to submit their applications via email, including their affected wallet address, asset information, transaction hash, and name.
