Uh oh, Nvidia has pulled RTX 5080 graphics card from its online store, raising fears the product has been discontinued amid a worsening memory shortage.

Nvidia’s official marketplace is a good place to find potential deals on its GPUs. But early Friday morning, a Reddit user noticed the store had removed the RTX 5080 as an option. Instead, the site surfaces the 5070 Ti as the most powerful entry in the RTX 5000 series.

That’s a worrying sign considering Nvidia also removed the more powerful RTX 5090 from its online store earlier this month. Although Nvidia has insisted the RTX 5090 hasn’t been discontinued, the product has been harder to find at retailers. Asus is selling a few models, but they cost more than $5,000, even though the RTX 5090 debuted at $1,999. Meanwhile, third-party dealers on Newegg and Walmart have been offering the product for around $10,000.

The RTX 5080’s removal comes as graphics card prices have also been skyrocketing. The product originally launched at $999, but the pricing for the various models can now reach well over $2,000. The good news is that the GPU is still in stock at other retailers, including Best Buy and Walmart, but we aren’t sure for how long.

So far, Nvidia hasn’t responded to a request for comment. But there are rumors that the company is preparing a new version of the RTX 5080, with 24GB of memory, up from 16GB. VideoCardz says the bulked-up RTX 5080 could be introduced in December, with the product launching in January. However, it will likely feature absurd pricing due to the ongoing memory shortage. SK Hynix, one of the leading memory suppliers, expects the shortage to persist through 2030, citing demand from AI data center builders.
