Nets 89,
Bucks 69: Box Score | Game Detail
SACRAMENTO – Hunter Sallis and Ben Humrichous each scored 15 points to lead the Brooklyn Nets to an 89-69 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks in the California Classic Summer League on Sunday.
The Nets and Bucks engaged in a back-and-forth contest in the opening 10 minutes, as both teams combined for 53 points, although Brooklyn grabbed the lead 29-24 after one period. The Nets would pull away for good in the second quarter, outscoring Milwaukee 27-12 and never looking back the rest of the way.
Even though the Bucks showed some fight in the second half, it was too late to mount a comeback.
Down by 18 points entering the final quarter, the Bucks didn’t have enough left in the tank to even sniff a potential turnaround, and the Nets ended up winning with ease by 20 points.
Sallis led the way for the Nets with 15 points, six rebounds, six assists and two blocks while shooting 3-of-5 from three-point range.
Humrichous had 15 points and eight boards, while Duke Brennan posted a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double. Dwight Murray Jr. ended with 14 points and four turnovers, and Dain Dainja added 10 points off the bench. The Nets shot 44.9 percent from the field (35-for-78) and 44.8 percent from beyond the arc (13-for-29).
Brandon Boston was the leading scorer for the Bucks with an 18-point effort across 28 minutes. Kobe Stewart had 13 points with eight rebounds, and Zack Austin added 11 points despite shooting 4-for-12 from the field.
The Bucks shot just 32.4 percent from the floor (27-for-74) and 37.9 percent from three-point range (11-for-29).
Brooklyn’s No. 6 overall pick, Mikel Brown Jr., did not play, and neither did the Bucks’ two lottery picks – Brayden Burries and Nate Ament.
Both teams will return to the hardwood Monday. The Nets will face the Golden State Warriors Blue at 8 p.m. ET at Golden 1 Center, while the Bucks will take on the Sacramento Kings at the same venue at 10 p.m. ET
