Billionaire Investor Stanley Druckenmiller Bullish on Stablecoin Growth

    In brief

    • Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller is bullish on the future of stablecoins.
    • The former hedge fund manager believes stablecoins will underpin the entire financial system in 10-15 years.
    • However, he said the rest of crypto is “a solution looking for a problem.”

Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller thinks that stablecoins are “incredibly useful”—so much so that he expects them to become the backbone of the financial system in the coming decades.

“I assume our whole payments systems will be stablecoins in 10 or 15 years,” he said in a newly posted video interview with Morgan Stanley, calling the fiat-pegged tokens highly productive thanks to their efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

The former hedge fund manager did not speak as highly about the rest of the crypto industry.

“It’s a solution looking for a problem,” he said when asked what came to his head about “crypto” in a word association game. “I’m very sad that it ever happened as a store of value, ‘cause it wasn’t needed.”

“But it’s a brand, and these people love it, so it’s going to be a store of value,” he added, not specifically singling out Bitcoin or any other tokens.

The commentary jives a bit with previous remarks from Druckenmiller, who noted in 2020 that he believed the “Bitcoin bet” could work better than a bet on gold, should the established store of value and precious metal ultimately go up.

At the time, with Bitcoin priced around $15,000, he cited the token’s illiquidity and volatility as positives that could lead to a stronger rise. As Bitcoin trades around 5x higher now, it seems the billionaire’s thesis may have played out in the last six years.

But even then, Druckenmiller noted that the top crypto asset was an unnecessary creation, saying, “I don’t understand why we need this thing.”

Six years later, the asset has climbed to a $1.4 trillion market cap as it changes hands around $71,520 on Friday, a rebound of around 8.5% in the last 30 days. At that price, BTC is still down around 43% from its October all-time high of $126,080.

On the other hand, the growing market cap of stablecoins has largely been up and to the right, now sitting around $315 billion, according to data from DeFiLlama. That marks an increase of more than $180 billion in circulating supply since the beginning of 2024, and high-ranking officials like U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent think that mark could triple by 2030.

  • Kraken-Linked SPAC Could Target Crypto Firm Valued at Up to $10 Billion

Kraken-Linked SPAC Could Target Crypto Firm Valued at Up to $10 Billion

    In brief

    • KRAKacquisition may find a target that’s worth as much as $10 billion.
    • The goal is to align a small- or mid-cap company with the crypto exchange.
    • The search comes as Kraken contemplates its own public offering.

KRAKacquisition Corp., a special purpose acquisition company formed in January, is searching for a target that could be worth as much as $10 billion, director Ravi Tanuku told Decrypt.

The blank-check firm, sponsored by an affiliate of crypto exchange Kraken, hasn’t determined what that firm could look like, but Tanuku noted that Wall Street’s interest in firms associated with stablecoins and tokenization reached new heights last year.

“The market is clearly paying up for those and starting to realize there’s big changes afoot,” he said. “In our mind, that’s a good signal to be aware of.”

SPACs are shell companies that are specifically designed to take private companies public via a reverse merger. In January, KRAKacquisition completed a $345 million public offering, marking the start of a two-year countdown for the firm to identify an acquisition target.

Tanuku underscored that the $10 billion threshold is an approximation, and KRAKacquisition’s target could ultimately be valued closer to $2 billion. Still, the range highlights the breadth of the company’s interest in helping small- and mid-cap companies explore public markets.

“It’s not easy to take a company in that smaller market cap range public anymore,” he said. “We’re looking at things that are related to crypto, but also things related to stablecoins, DeFi, and all kinds of areas in payments.”

The search comes as Kraken contemplates its own public offering this year. In November, the crypto exchange said it had confidentially filed a registration statement with the SEC, not long after announcing a massive $800 million fundraising round that valued it at $20 billion.

Tanuku described KRAKacquisition as a strategic investment tool for Kraken, potentially aligning another firm with the exchange economically through a reasonably significant stake. He noted that the exchange’s commitment is reflected in its willingness to lend its brand.

In KRAKacquisition’s registration statement, the firm references inflation. It argues a decline in the U.S. dollar’s purchasing power has bolstered “hard assets as hedges” like Bitcoin over time.

  • Adrian Grenier Says ‘It’s a Disappointment’ Not to Be Cast in ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’: ‘I Also Understand There’s Some Backlash With Nate’

Adrian Grenier Says ‘It’s a Disappointment’ Not to Be Cast in ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’: ‘I Also Understand There’s Some Backlash With Nate’

Adrian Grenier, who played Nate, the toxic boyfriend of Anne Hathaway’s up-and-coming fashion writer Andy in “The Devil Wears Prada,” recently told Page Six that “it was a disappointment” he wasn’t asked to return for “The Devil Wears Prada 2.”

“We’re all fans of the movie, whether or not we’re in it,” he said. “Obviously, it was a disappointment that I didn’t get the call to be in the sequel, but I also understand there’s some backlash with Nate, the character, so that might have something to do with it. But I think that just leaves room for a spinoff.”

When asked if he thought the fan backlash to Nate was the reason he wasn’t asked to return for the sequel, Grenier said, “As opposed to what?” He added, “Either way, it’s a disappointment, and either way, it leaves room for a beautiful spinoff in which Nate has his own film.”

Based on the 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger, “The Devil Wears Prada” was released in 2006 and followed Hathaway as Andy Sachs, an overachieving college graduate who becomes the assistant to the tyrannical fashion media mogul Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep. Grenier’s character, Nate, was largely hated in online circles for being a flaky, unsupportive boyfriend to Andy during her turbulent time working at Runway Magazine. Other cast members include Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker and Tracie Thoms.

“The Devil Wears Prada 2,” which hits theaters on May 1, follows Andy and Miranda as they compete against their former co-worker Emily in a declining print journalism industry. Streep, Hathaway, Blunt and Tucci once again lead the cast, joined by franchise newcomers Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Lady Gaga, Amanda Morrow and B.J. Novak. “The Devil Wears Prada” director David Frankel returns to direct the sequel. Aline Brosh McKenna and Weisberger, who wrote the original film, also penned the sequel.

  • Artists4Ceasefire Unveils New Pins Designed by Shepard Fairey Ahead of Oscars (EXCLUSIVE)

Artists4Ceasefire Unveils New Pins Designed by Shepard Fairey Ahead of Oscars (EXCLUSIVE)

Artists4Ceasefire has a new pin badge just in time for the 2026 Oscars ceremony.

With just hours to go until the 98th Academy Awards, the collective of actors, filmmakers and other artists — which as per its description has been calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and lasting peace between Palestinians and Israelis since late 2023 — has unveiled the new pin that it will be distributing ahead of Sunday night’s ceremony at the Dolby Theater.

Designed by Shepard Fairey, the pins feature a dove carrying a lotus flower with a barbed wire stem, an image the group says embodies “hope, resilience and a just peace.” According to Artists4Ceasefire, which was started two weeks after the Oct. 7 attacks, the heart above the flower “reinforces the power of leading with love, reminding us all that love for humanity includes a commitment to liberation and freedom for all people — from Palestine and Lebanon, to Iran, Sudan, Minnesota and beyond.”

“Humanity and justice are not privileges reserved for some of us; they belong to all people, without exception,” said Fairey. “Art has the ability to remind us that, before borders and boundaries, we are all citizens of this planet first. This collaboration with Artists4Ceasefire serves as a reminder that love for all people is not the absence of justice and accountabliity — it is a necessity. My hope is that this image speaks to the power of solidarity and serves as a reminder that when we come together, the seeds of compassion, dignity and freedom can break through.”

While it’s as-yet unknown which stars will be wearing the new design on the Oscars red carpet, the previous Artists4Ceasefire badge has become a familiar presence at awards shows over the last two years. Attendees at the 2024 Academy Awards — including Billie Eilish, Mark Ruffalo, Ava DuVernay, Ramy Youssef, Riz Ahmed, Mahershala Ali and Finneas O’Connell — were seen sporting the pin, as was Kaouther Ben Hania, who returns this year with international film nominee “The Voice of Hind Rajab.” Meanwhile, Javier Bardem and Megan Stalter wore the pin at the 2025 Emmy Awards.

Other stars known for wearing the Artists4Ceasefire pin include Susan Surandon, Phoebe Bridgers, Nicola Coughlan and Hannah Einbinder.

Despite Popular Belief, Many Adults Over 60 Still Desire Intimacy

    • A recent study has shown that adults remain interested in sexual activity and intimacy in relationships into their 80s.
    • The study participants emphasized that physical connections are among the most important aspects of a relationship, with some even saying that a lack of intimacy would be a “deal breaker.”
    • The findings could help dispel stereotypes and misconceptions about sex and aging, as well as encourage an open discussion about sexual health with older adults.

It’s a common misperception that the desire for sex and romantic relationships wanes as people age.

However, a recent study published in the Journal of Sex Research found that adults ages 60 to 80 expressed not only a desire, but a need for sexual intimacy in a relationship.

In fact, many view a relationship that lacks sexual intimacy as less than a complete relationship, with some even seeing it as falling short of their definition of romance.

“Older adults who report sexual activity report greater overall well-being and life satisfaction, Arien Muzacz, PhD, clinical associate professor of counseling at The College of Education, Oregon State University, told Healthline. Muzacz was not involved in the study.

While older adults may have the same desire for sexual intimacy, they may experience certain challenges.

“Adults don’t become more asexual as they age; however, they may become less sexual, even though the desire for intimacy remains strong,” said Karyne Wilner, PsyD, licensed psychologist and author of “Releasing Toxic Anger for Women,” who wasn’t involved in the study.

“Many in their 70s, 80s, 90s, and beyond feel desire and romance, but at the same time, they have more difficulties with sex,” she told Healthline.

The researchers interviewed 100 individuals. The participants were split evenly, with 50 single males and 50 single females, ages 60 to 83, with average ages of 65.6 for males and 66.8 for females.

The study focused on how single older adults framed their desire for new sexual and romantic relationships.

Almost three-quarters of the participants openly stated that they didn’t want to be in a relationship if it didn’t involve sexual activity.

Many participants stated that not having sex was a “deal breaker” in a relationship.

One participant, Dean, 68, said, “That would be a deal breaker. I’m still able to be intimate. So that would be a deal breaker. I mean, it might end up as a friendship instead of a relationship. Period.”

Evelyn, 65, agreed. “No, sex has to be part of your relationship. So, if you don’t want to have sex, then what’s the use of having a relationship? . . . You can be friends without having sex. If you just want to be friends, that’s fine. But if you try to do a relationship, then sex has to be a part of it.”

Around 30 of the participants stated they may be somewhat open to a romantic relationship that didn’t involve sexual activity. However, these statements were generally either contradictory or came with caveats.

“Older adults [may] need to look at sexuality in a new way,” said Wilner.

“It can be the touch of a hand on the small of [the] back, sitting or lying close together, a tender massage, or rubbing against each other. It may not end in the strong orgasm or release of yesteryear, but there may be moments of great intimacy with loving bodies intertwined,” she said.

Those who did entertain the idea of a relationship without sexual intercourse typically included stipulations, such as:

    • having non-penetrative forms of sexual contact
    • changing their partner’s mind
    • already loving someone when the sex stopped later in the relationship

“I think sexuality needs to be encouraged among older adults, married and partnered, as well as single,” said Wilner.

“I hope that this study and others like it will encourage people to follow their desires and be realistic about their needs, but also to be flexible in how they define sexuality. If it’s pleasurable, it’s sexual, even when it doesn’t look like the sex you used to have.”

When people talk about sexuality in older adults, they often focus on ability, finding that older adults may have less or no sex, or that the quality of sex is lower, due to bodily changes that come with age.

“Your body may change as you age due to physiological processes such as menopause, the type of exercise you get, or the medicines you take. However, sexuality is still important; it is part of the joie de vivre, it empowers your life force and energizes you,” said Wilner.

The participants in this study also mentioned that biological issues, such as difficulty with erections and lubrication, were among their concerns about having sex at an older age. However, they viewed these as inevitabilities to overcome, not enough to prevent their pursuit of sex.

“Open yourself to a new form of intimacy based on sensual touch or scents,” suggested Wilner.

While the study participants were clear that sex is an important part of romantic relationships, they also showed flexibility in the details of sex. They were aware that the type of sexual experiences one can have may change with age.

Both males and females noted that, as long as the relationship included sex, the frequency of sex was less important.

One of the participants, Howard, 62, said that it was the physical connection, not the frequency, that was essential to the health of the relationship.

“I would think you have to have some kind of intimacy, sexual relations somewhere. It might not be a once a month or twice a month, but [it is necessary] to keep the flow in the relationship going,” he said.

Some of the participants also alluded to the way sex as an older adult may not have the same vigor and pleasure of sex as a younger adult. However, this did not negate the value or importance of sex in a relationship.

Wilner said the study is important because it’s “more in touch with reality than the myth that when people reach a certain age, they lose interest in sex.”

She noted that the results may be reassuring to those who desire sexual connections but feel it may not be appropriate behavior at their age.

The study may not only help dispel the myth and stereotype that older adults lose interest in sex, but it may also help open the conversation about sexual health with these individuals.

“STI prevention is essential for any older adults due to increased risks like thinning of the vaginal walls and reduced lubrication in the vaginal canal (the latter can be addressed by using water-based lubes that do not erode latex prophylactics),” said Muzacz.

“There is also a reality that older adults in communal settings like retirement communities may have multiple partners, so STI prevention and testing are recommended for any older adults engaging in partnered sexual activity,” she added.

The recent study researchers suggested that older adults and their healthcare professionals may often avoid the topic of sexual health. However, the study shows that sexual activity remains a vital piece of relationships to many older adults.

This makes it even more important to incorporate sexual wellness into routine healthcare for older adults.

“People — no matter what their age — need to have a sense of the person they are being intimate with and some knowledge of that person’s dating or marital history. I also think that conversations with physicians, gynecologists, or urologists about safe sex would be helpful in learning how best to protect yourself,” said Wilner.

  • Anthropic is doubling Claude’s usage limits during off-peak hours for the next two weeks

To capitalize on Claude’s recent spike in popularity, Anthropic is offering a limited-time promotion that doubles usage limits for anyone using its AI chatbot during off-peak hours. From March 13 to March 27, users on Free, Pro, Max, and Team plans will get double the usage limits in a five-hour window when using Claude outside weekday hours between 8 AM and 2 PM ET. According to Anthropic, the promotion is automatic, and users don’t have to enable anything to get the benefits.

Anthropic said that this promotion applies to anyone using Claude on web, desktop or mobile, but also with Cowork, Claude Code, Claude for Excel and Claude for PowerPoint. Previously, Anthropic offered a similar event from December 25 to December 31, doubling usage limits for Pro, Max 5x or Max 20x subscribers. However, Anthropic is targeting an even wider audience with its latest promotion since only Enterprise users are excluded this time around.

Anthropic is marketing the promotion as a “small thank you to everyone using Claude,” but it’s likely tied to its ongoing battle with the Department of Defense. After refusing to remove certain AI safeguards for the Department of Defense, Anthropic was listed as a supply chain risk and lost its contract with the federal agency. In turn, OpenAI signed a deal with the Department of Defense, leading to many users deciding to boycott ChatGPT in favor of Claude and other AI chatbot options.

Strategy Founder and Major Bull Michael Saylor Has Issued the Anticipated Weekly Bitcoin Signal

Michael Saylor has fueled speculation in the market about a possible new buy signal by reposting data from his company’s “Saylor Tracker,” which monitors Bitcoin holdings.

Strategy founder Saylor, in a social media post, used the phrase “extend the orange dot,” which investors interpreted as a sign that the company may soon announce a new Bitcoin purchase. In the chart shared by Saylor, the orange dots represent $BTC purchases.

In the past, the company is known to announce Bitcoin purchases shortly after similar announcements.

According to the data, Strategy’s Bitcoin reserves are worth approximately $53 billion. The company’s total holdings are calculated at 738,731 $BTC, with an average purchase cost of $75,863. Based on current market prices, the company’s portfolio shows an unrealized loss of approximately 5.42%, indicating a loss in value of approximately $3.04 billion.

Strategy has recorded a total of 102 Bitcoin purchases to date. The most recent transaction took place last Monday, when the company bought 17,994 $BTC at an average price of $70,946, totaling approximately $1.28 billion. Following this transaction, the company’s total Bitcoin holdings rose to 738,731 $BTC.

  • Bitcoin set for best week since September 2025 as correlation with tech stocks weakens

Bitcoin set for best week since September 2025 as correlation with tech stocks weakens

Bitcoin is on track to close its strongest week since September 2025, rising about 8.5% and trading above $71,000.

The move stands out relative to other major assets.

Over the past week, bitcoin has begun to diverge slightly from the broader market. Using BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) as a five-day proxy, IBIT is up roughly 3.5% and approached a one-month high on Friday.

In contrast, iShares Expanded Tech Software ETF (IGV), gold and U.S. equities all trended lower as the week progressed. This suggests bitcoin is starting to lose its strong correlation with software and tech, at least in the short term.

BTC divergence versus IGV, QQQ and Gold. (TradingView)

The divergence comes as bitcoin started to diverge from its traditional counterparts. Since the start of the conflict in the Middle East, over two weeks ago, bitcoin has gained roughly 13%, outperforming traditional risk assets and safe havens alike. Over the same period, IGV has risen about 3%, while gold has fallen around 6%, and U.S. equities have also posted losses.

On a monthly basis, the asset is up about 7% so far in March, which would mark its first positive month since September. That rebound follows five consecutive negative months in which bitcoin declined as much as 50% from its October all-time high.

The buyers of the largest digital asset appear to be U.S., as institutional demand from the region appears to be gradually returning. US spot bitcoin ETFs have recorded approximately $1.3 billion in net inflows so far in March, putting them on track for their first month of net inflows since October.

However, the divergence doesn’t mean that bitcoin is completely out of the woods yet.

The market sentiment remains extremely cautious. The crypto fear and greed index has stayed in “extreme fear” territory. At the same time, perpetual futures funding rates remain negative. Funding rates are periodic payments exchanged between traders in perpetual futures markets to keep contract prices aligned with the spot market. When funding rates are negative, short sellers pay long positions, indicating that bearish positioning is dominant and traders are willing to pay to maintain short exposure.

While it may not mean bitcoin is all-clear to take off, it does show that investors aren’t pricing it as a purely risk asset anymore.

As CoinDesk analysis showed, the move might just mean bitcoin has potentially become a 24/7 leading indicator of how the overall market might trade in response to a macro event. The Middle East conflict is the perfect example of this, as the price moved before any other asset classes when the war first started. And now, it seems everything else is following its price action, while bitcoin remains steady.

Animated ‘Firefly’ Reboot in Development From Nathan Fillion, 20th TV Animation

Nathan Fillion has revealed that a Firefly animated series is in early development at 20th Television Animation, ending a week-long social media campaign hinting at some news involving the project.

Fillion shared the news in an Instagram video, where he was joined by his Firefly costars, and at Awesome Con in Washington.

The animated reboot is being developed through Fillion’s production banner Collision33 in partnership with 20th Television Animation, which controls the rights to the franchise. Married writer-producers Tara Butters (Agent Carter, Dollhouse) and Marc Guggenheim (Arrow, Flash) are set to serve as showrunners, in their first professional collaboration together, on the series, for which a script has already been written. Additionally, early concept art has been developed in collaboration with Oscar- and Emmy-winning animation studio ShadowMachine. The project is expected to be taken out to buyers soon. The series would be set in the timeline between the original, 11-episode TV run in 2002 and the 2005 feature film continuation, Serenity.

Fillion said in his Instagram video that he received the blessing of Joss Whedon to embark upon this new iteration. Whedon created the original series, produced by 20th Century Fox Television, which aired for one season before developing a following through DVD sales, streaming platforms and Serenity.

The announcement came during a panel and live taping of Fillion and co-star Alan Tudyk’s podcast Once We Were Spacemen. The pair were joined by fellow original Firefly castmembers Gina Torres, Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin, Sean Maher and Summer Glau.

And the news caps a week of viral social media teases from Fillion and his co-stars of some sort of Firefly news.
