  • Outside Gloria Steinem’s Home, Her Legacy Lives On

Outside Gloria Steinem’s Home, Her Legacy Lives On

On a quiet Upper East Side street Thursday, an impromptu memorial for feminist icon Gloria Steinem began forming.

One by one, women walked up to Steinem’s longtime home and left bouquets of flowers and cards, often stopping in silence to take in the moment and the array of florals lining her gate. Most cards thanked Steinem for her life’s work, while others went on to call her a “hero to all women,” or cribbed one of her oft-attributed sayings writing, “Women need men like fish need bikes,” which Steinem popularized, but always cited Australian writer and educator Irina Dunna as the original author.

Flowers outside of Gloria Steinem’s home Thursday.

    THR Staff

One letter under the gate read, “Humanity is more evolved, more informed and we’re given the opportunity to be seen and heard because of you.”

Steinem passed away at her longtime home Thursday at the age of 92, “surrounded by many who loved her,” according to her foundation. One of the most popular members of the feminist movement, Steinem is known for championing women’s rights, both in government, with the formation of the National Women’s Political Caucus, which she co-founded alongside Congresswoman Bella Abzug, Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm and Betty Friedan, among many other causes, as well as in her pioneering feminist publication Ms. magazine.

In the 1990s, Steinem furthered her legacy by helping to establish Take Our Daughters to Work Day, to help broaden career possibilities for young women, and in 2005, she co-founded the Women’s Media Center, alongside Jane Fonda and Robin Morgan, to raise visibility of girls and women in the media.

Throughout her advocacy, Steinem’s home, which she moved into with a roommate in 1967 and remained in for the rest of her life, as she acquired two more floors, has played a prominent role. It was there that Steinem hosted her “talking circles,” in which she would gather groups of women to discuss politics, debate and discuss solutions to issues facing women across the world and delve into their personal lives, across the decades. The home will continue to be used for political gatherings after her death, according to The New York Times.

“Talking circles have always been — since people gathered around a campfire — a crucial life-giving community,” Steinem told the Times in 2025, after a circle that included actress Lupita Nyong’o, former professional soccer player Ashlyn Harris, businesswoman Jenna Lyons and more.

“My brain has not converted to A.I.,” she added, “We don’t experience empathy in the same way unless we are physically together.”

Lena Dunham, a friend of Steinem, reminisced in a post Thursday on one of several gatherings she had experienced at the late icon’s home.

“A few months ago, you welcomed a group of us into your home. You could not have felt more alive, more eternal, and the room took on a hush when you spoke, the same awed disbelief that I felt whenever you offered me the chance to spend time with you. You knew the effect you had and so you doled out jokes with ease, made us all laugh as if drinking mocktails next to you was the most natural thing in the world. It’s rare that I’ll ever be as delighted as when you said, “Philip Roth used to stand by a pile of his own novels at the bookstore with a pen, ready to sign them to any woman who looked his way. I had to avoid that bookstore!,” she wrote.

Among the small crowd gathering Thursday, Larz May, founder of a non-profit aimed at improving the next generation’s relationship with tech, traveled to her home to commemorate Steinem, who she called “an inspiration.” May began hosting her own talking circles inspired by Steinem and was also able to participate in a talking circle at Steinem’s home about technology.

“We got to walk through a time capsule in her basement, and to sit on her couches and see and know that this is a jewelry box of the most incredible humans in the world,” May said of her time in the home, adding that Steinem surprised them all by pulling out a pair of tap shoes, one of her little known former hobbies.

Rather than just flowers, May bent down to light a stick of incense at the gate, to pay homage to another one of Steinem’s oft-quoted sayings.

In an interview with Time magazine, Steinem once said, “People keep asking me … who I’m going to give my torch to, right? And I always say to them, I am not giving up my torch, thank you very much, I’m keeping my torch, and I’m using it to light other people’s torches, because the whole idea that there is only one torch is the problem.”

“I’m here to light a candle and literally and figuratively take Gloria’s life forward, and hope to light up the world,” May noted on Thursday. “I think one of the things that I learned from her was that it’s not about passing the torch, it’s about lighting it.”

  • Beyoncé Releases ‘B’Day 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition’ Featuring Unreleased Songs, Collaborations With Selena and Maluma

Beyoncé Releases ‘B’Day 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition’ Featuring Unreleased Songs, Collaborations With Selena and Maluma

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of her sophomore album, Beyoncé has released a remastered version of “B’Day” featuring Spanish recordings, previously released bonus tracks, and a few unheard songs including “Can I Watch You” featuring Pharrell and a new Spanish version of “Irreplaceable” featuring previously released vocals from the late Selena Quintanilla.

In a press release shared with Variety, Beyoncé reflected on the 20-year milestone of the album, which was originally released on September 4, 2006. “I wanted the album to be big, percussive, hard, up-tempo, and energized, and it was important to me that we used live instrumentation,” she said. “Hip-hop was taking over at the time, but I was fighting to preserve the bridges, melodies, and harmonies that have always been at the heart of R&B. The goal was to blend those two worlds through the art of sampling. I loved the minimalism of a beautiful vocal arrangement over a simple drum loop or a classic guitar like ‘Irreplaceable’…but only if that 808 was banging underneath.”

For the reissue, Beyoncé remastered the songs and videos, which were recolored and finished in 4k. The revamped visual for “Déjà Vu” featuring Jay-Z was also released alongside the album.

“B’Day 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition” features a handful of unheard tracks, including “Cuerpo Tumbao (Get Me Bodied)” with Maluma, marking her first collaboration with the Colombian artist. The release notes that the song samples Celia Cruz’s “La Negra Tiene Tumbao” and that Beyoncé has “long admired Cruz’s pride in her African culture.” The song was produced by Beyoncé, Edgar Barrera, Casta and co-produced by Ali “Ali Ali” Alvarez.

Additionally, the reissue includes “Irreemplazable (Como La Flor)” featuring Selena Quintanilla, whose estate approved the duet. The release notes that Beyoncé “revered Selena,” a fellow Texan, “and remembers listening to her on the radio in Houston,” crediting the late singer for inspiring the recording of her 2007 Spanish EP “Irreemplazable.”

“B’Day 20th Anniversary Edition” also includes new and rare tracks including “Morning Dew (Donk),” “Can I Watch You” (produced by Beyoncé and Pharrell), “My First Time,” “Lost Yo Mind,” “Creole” and “Back Up.

  • Taylor Frankie Paul Confirms She Got Engaged on Pulled ‘Bachelorette’ Season, Reveals What Happened After Filming

Taylor Frankie Paul Confirms She Got Engaged on Pulled ‘Bachelorette’ Season, Reveals What Happened After Filming

Taylor Frankie Paul is revealing major details surrounding her Bachelorette season that viewers will likely never get to see — including that she got engaged and what went wrong.

During Thursday’s episode of Hulu’s Get Real podcast, an exclusive clip from the upcoming fifth season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives shows Paul spilling what happened to fellow castmembers Jessi Draper, Mikayla Matthews and Mayci Neeley.

The clip begins with the women asking Paul if she was intimate with anyone in the Bachelor Nation franchise’s infamous fantasy suites. Paul seemingly shakes her head no.

Without naming him, Draper points out that Paul’s reported final pick on the season, Doug Mason, shares some similarities with Paul’s ex-boyfriend and the father of one of her son’s, Dakota Mortensen, including their initials and the fact that they’re both from Idaho.

“They have the same initials. They’re both from Idaho,” Draper says. “It’s so weird.”

“I didn’t learn all that until later,” Paul responds.

Paul then reveals that she received an unexpected proposal — and said yes.

“He did get down on one knee and proposed,” Paul says. “I was shocked.”

Draper replies, “He told us he wasn’t going to,” referring to when she and other Mormon Wives castmembers visited Paul while she was filming The Bachelorette.

Paul says she believed the same and confirms that she accepted the proposal. However, she adds, “Then, I came home.”

After returning to Utah, Paul says she began texting Mortensen again.

“I don’t know how it led to it, but he came over,” she says, seemingly implying that the two hooked up — something that has been widely speculated.

Paul, who founded the Mormon influencer group known as MomTok, was set to make her debut as the Bachelorette on March 22. However, ABC pulled the season just three days before its scheduled premiere after TMZ published video footage showing the events that led to Paul’s 2023 arrest following an argument with Mortensen.

Paul pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in 2023 as part of a plea agreement that resulted in her other charges being dismissed. Her plea was held in abeyance, with the felony charge set to be reduced to a misdemeanor if she completed the terms of the agreement. The incident was later chronicled on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Two days before ABC pulled the season, Paul spoke with The Hollywood Reporter at a press event in New York City, where she addressed widespread TikTok speculation that Mason was her final pick.

“I’ve seen a lot of spoilers. However, none of them have been really correct,” she said at the time. “So for me, I’m just like, I guess keep putting out those incorrect spoilers. For the audience, I would want to watch to see if they’re actually true, because there have been so many different ones. How do you even know which one is even it at this point?”

In the weeks following the cancellation, Utah authorities investigated additional domestic violence allegations involving Paul and Mortensen. Mortensen reported an alleged 2024 incident to West Jordan police in February, while Draper police separately investigated another incident involving the former couple. In April, the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office announced that it would not file new charges against Paul after reviewing the cases.

Production on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season five was also halted in March amid the fallout. The season will now premiere on Hulu on Sept. 10.

In July, before the season five premiere date was announced, Mormon Wives co-star Miranda Hope told THR that she hadn’t been in touch with Paul.

“We haven’t really spoken recently,” she said. “But I genuinely hope that she’s doing well, and from what I know and what I hear, it seems like and sounds like she’s doing better. I truly wish nothing but the best for her.

  • Solana Eyeing $150: SOL Smashes Key Resistance with Just 2 Hurdles Remaining

Solana Eyeing $150: SOL Smashes Key Resistance with Just 2 Hurdles Remaining

Solana ($SOL) has broken above the $103 resistance line, trading at $105.22, having gained 5.5% in the day. This marks a major development in terms of the UTXO Realized Price Distribution (URPD) chart. $103.25 was the price at which 39 million $SOL were exchanged, making it a massive threshold to cross in the attempt to establish strong bullish momentum.

Solana faces two barriers to attain $150

Now, according to the same chart, the next overhead resistance lies at $123 and thereafter $132. Both these prices saw about 20 million $SOL acquired and are therefore significant barriers to overcome.

After that, the next major supply zone would be near $150, a price last achieved in mid-November 2025.

    Source: Ali Charts

Other than upward market movement and positive sentiment, the recent rally has also been supported by several accumulation metrics.

The number of wallets holding at least 10,000 $SOL (whales) has increased by 1.58% in the past week. Additionally, the number of $SOL on exchanges has declined by 4.91% in the same period. This signals a shift to self-custody wallets or decentralized staking, effectively reducing the overall sell-side pressure.

Even more, Solana spot ETF flows turned positive on September 3, averaging 43,000 $SOL in inflows.

    Source: CoinGlass

    The outlook

At 59.25, the Relative Strength Indicator (RSI) shows $SOL is in a neutral-to-bullish territory. Buyers have a slightly larger monopoly at the moment.

Meanwhile, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) histogram remains above zero at 5.56, confirming the buildup of upward acceleration.

At this pace, Solana could be primed for $150 should it break above the two ceilings noted and maintain positive whale and institutional uptake.

  • ‘Marriagetoxin’ Creators Joumyaku and Yoda Mizuki Tease Season 2: ‘There Is Plenty of Cool Action We Want You to See’ (EXCLUSIVE)

‘Marriagetoxin’ Creators Joumyaku and Yoda Mizuki Tease Season 2: ‘There Is Plenty of Cool Action We Want You to See’ (EXCLUSIVE)

    A master assassin’s toughest job isn’t a kill order. It’s finding a wife.

That premise carried “Marriagetoxin” from a running Shonen Jump+ series into one of the standout anime of Spring 2026, and creators Joumyaku and Yoda Mizuki are already looking toward a second season set for January 2027.

The series follows Hikaru Gero, a master assassin whose latest assignment is to secure an heir by finding a wife. The target of his most recent job, a marriage swindler named Mei Kinosaki, ends up joining him for that mission instead. Serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+, “Marriagetoxin” has surpassed one million copies in circulation worldwide, and its anime adaptation, directed by Hori Motonobu, is streaming on Crunchyroll ahead of a second season premiering in January 2027.

On how the manga came together, Joumyaku says, “It started with the single idea of ‘a Poison Master goes on a search for marriage,’ and from there, as we built the characters and the story, everything I had read, experienced, and picked up along the way got layered onto it.”

The audience reaction has exceeded what either creator anticipated. Joumyaku points to Kinosaki’s reception specifically, crediting the anime staff for carrying Yoda’s character designs and action work faithfully into the adaptation. Yoda says they are grateful to the readers who have supported the series, to everyone involved in making it, and to Joumyaku for teaming up with them. “What surprises me most is that so many readers have enjoyed it – enough that Volume 1 went straight into a reprint and the dream of an adaptation came true.” Yoda says.

Both creators are already looking ahead to the second season. Joumyaku promises that even more captivating heroines will appear one after another, deepening the relationships surrounding Gero. “There is plenty of cool action we want you to see,” Joumyaku says, adding that they are very much looking forward to delivering it to fans. Yoda echoes that heading into Season 2, captivating new heroines arrive along with several characters they are fond of themselves.

Because the story operates within the shonen framework even though most of its cast are adults, Joumyaku says the protagonist’s growth remains the story’s central axis, which is why depicting relationships and identity carries so much weight for the work. Yoda, who illustrates the manga, says the story itself is built by Joumyaku and the series editor rather than by them, but that the emotions are already fully expressed at the storyboard stage. For an artist who wants to depict emotion richly above all, they call it a genuinely enjoyable story to illustrate.

That approach has extended to how the series treats gender presentation, an element fans and critics have singled out as unusually progressive for the genre. Joumyaku describes the subversive elements as something that emerged naturally rather than as a plan set from the outset, with the protagonist caught between family expectations and the pull to live authentically. “I have a rough picture of where things go through the final chapter, but it feels like we are building the story while working out together how the protagonist comes to terms with it all,” Joumyaku says.

Asked about designing Kinosaki, Yoda says, “I had been told in advance that this character would appear in both traditionally masculine and feminine clothing, so on the art side, I designed Kinosaki so that the character holds up in either presentation.”

Working with Hori, whose credits include “Metallic Rouge” and “Carole & Tuesday,” has also shaped the manga going forward. Joumyaku says ideas raised in the anime’s script meetings have fed back into key parts of the source material, pointing to the fully realized car-splitting sequence in Episode One as an example of the level of craft involved. They single out a scene from Chapter 12 of Volume Two, in which Ureshino dumps yakisoba on her head, as the one that stayed with them most, noting that it was given what they call a proper through-line in Part B of Episode Four. “It was amazingly good,” Joumyaku says.

Yoda says the anime’s action choreography went well beyond anything scripted in the manga panels. Of watching it unfold, they say, “so this is how they were moving all along.” They add that seeing the anime’s rendering of Kinosaki’s eyes pushed them to draw the character bigger and cuter in the source material going forward.

Looking toward the manga’s climax, Joumyaku says the urge to give everything to the story’s endpoint grows stronger by the day, while Yoda says they never expected their own dream of seeing their character designs made into figures to actually come true, and that going forward they want to draw even better character designs and illustrations, ones that also get made into figures.

  • Bitcoin’s Biggest Lost Fortunes: 8 Costly Mistakes Owners Can Never Undo

Bitcoin’s Biggest Lost Fortunes: 8 Costly Mistakes Owners Can Never Undo

There are only 21 million $BTC, and some of the coins that are now in circulation have been lost, misplaced, or thrown away by their owners. These coins will never be moved again, despite the fact that they are worth a lot of money; they are essentially permanently out of reach. These stories are just as noteworthy as those of people who have made fortunes by holding bitcoin all this time, and the following is a closer look at some of bitcoin’s most unfortunate stories.

James Howells and the Landfill Hard Drive

Back in the early days, Howells said he was mining $BTC in 2009, and the Newport, Wales resident, threw out his laptop’s hard drive at a landfill when he was cleaning the house. The catch; his private keys were inside the drive, which held an estimated 7,500 to 8,000 $BTC. That’s around $578 million of value using current bitcoin prices. Howells’ story is one of the most famous of the bunch due to the fact that he spent more than a decade trying to get permission to excavate the site, and he never succeeded.

Stefan Thomas and His 2 Guesses

Thomas was a programmer who decided to store his private key on an encrypted Ironkey USB drive. He lost the paper, which stored his password to bypass the encrypted wallet to access 7,002 $BTC worth around $540 million. The Ironkey gives the user ten chances to get the password correct, and Thomas has unfortunately already blasted through eight guesses, leaving only two left. Reports say he’s stopped guessing and decided to stop rather than risk the last two.

9,000 $BTC Frozen in a Stranded Change Address

According to an old bitcointalk.org post, an individual had an old backup of his bitcoin wallet and continued to use the wallet after the backup was created. After restoring the $BTC wallet’s old copy, it did not log the newly created change addresses. This left the user with a loss of 9,000 $BTC, worth $694 million, that he could monitor using a blockchain explorer, but had no way to retrieve them.

    A Missouri Farmer’s Mysterious Refund

According to a posted Substack called Shehan’s Blog, a client of the author named Samantha reportedly lost 100,000 $BTC. That’s a whopping loss of $7.7 billion, using today’s exchange rates. The story is that Samantha accepted a large bitcoin refund in 2010 from a European vendor for veterinary medicine. Samantha said she had zero knowledge of how to manage the 100,000 $BTC and lost all the keys during a phishing incident. Samantha, a Missouri farmer, thought she was talking with tech support when she handed over her private keys.

    Campbell Simpson’s Tossed Hard Drive

Back in 2017, Bitcoin.com News reported on an Australian media/IT figure who threw out a hard drive holding his bitcoin wallet while discarding his belongings. Simpson acquired the coins in 2010 and explained how he was paid in the relatively unknown crypto asset for some work. One day, he decided to toss out “USB sticks, 3D glasses, USB cables, PC components. All that sort of literal junk. A pile of junk that went into a skip.” Approximately 1,400 $BTC, worth $107 million today, went in the trash with the so-called literal junk.

    A Brother’s Belongings

In 2020, a Reddit user named Shotukan said he lost 533 $BTC valued at roughly $41 million when he gave a laptop holding a bitcoin wallet to his brother years earlier. His brother passed away in 2019, and he went through his belongings, but the specific drive was never found. Shotukan noted that the laptop was likely discarded among disorganized possessions. He acquired the $BTC by buying the crypto asset in 2010.

    Reformatting a Colleague’s Hard Drive

According to one Barbadian entrepreneur’s story, 800 $BTC was lost when a fellow employee accidentally reformatted his laptop. Gabriel Abed had his private keys stored on the laptop. Reports say Abed acquired his bitcoin long ago in 2011, and reportedly, it was only a portion of his total holdings, which he had distributed across multiple wallets as a safety precaution. Still, his 800 $BTC is now worth $64.76 million using today’s exchange rates.

    The Deleted Encrypted File

Another tale of lost bitcoins involves a Ukrainian politician and member of parliament (Verkhovna Rada), known as Davyd Arakhamia. He accidentally encrypted his file that contained his $BTC private keys, which resulted in the loss of 400 $BTC or around $32 million, half of what Gabriel Abed lost. The businessman accepted crypto assets in the early days, and he says the file he encrypted was thought to be a movie file.

Knowledge, Education, and a Better User Experience Still Need More Attention

These stories show the downside of having full control over your own crypto, especially when you do not possess enough knowledge about self-custody wallets, precautions and best practices. The fact of the matter is, people forget passwords, lose devices, and make serious financial mistakes, but Bitcoin’s immutable blockchain doesn’t give second chances.

Better recovery options could make crypto safer and easier for everyday users and since these losses happened, the industry has improved this environment modestly. We all know Satoshi’s famous line, and that lost bitcoin can reduce supply and might increase its value, but for the people who lose it, the cost can be huge.

Why are people calling Venezuela oil deal a new form of US colonialism?

Critics call the US multi-billion-dollar oil deal in Venezuela modern-day colonialism. The agreement reportedly gives the US control of 20% of Venezuela’s oil reserves for decades, all without the country’s legislature’s approval.

    Al Jazeera’s Nour Hegazy explains.

  • Decoding Bitcoin’s September trap: Is drop to $52K looming for BTC?

Decoding Bitcoin’s September trap: Is drop to $52K looming for BTC?

Are Bitcoin investors falling for the market’s “September Trap”?

In terms of positioning, traders are becoming more long biased on Bitcoin, implying they expect a bullish move that the technical formation has yet to confirm.

Because from the technical standpoint, $BTC has been trading below $80k for more than two weeks, which keeps the risk/reward equation in check.

However, the setup on the chart below implies that the bulls are willing to risk a lot for a big reward.

According to CoinGlass data, Bitcoin’s funding rates are positive, and the long/short ratio has jumped to 1.08 from below 1 over the past week. Moreover, it is the highest ratio of long positions since the mid-August cycle.

    Source: CoinGlass

In essence, the traders are expecting a breakout above Bitcoin’s current resistance.

However, it must be noted that not everyone is optimistic.

An analyst on X posted asking for a $BTC short, claiming that $BTC could reach the $52k level and then turn around and head back up. This divergence in viewpoints can only contribute to $BTC price’s volatility and put more pressure on its current consolidation.

In this context, it becomes critical to take a closer look at the on-chain situation. And so far, it’s suggested that there is even a clear bias forming.

The catch, though? Either way, Bitcoin [$BTC] stands at serious risk of creating a September trap.

    Bitcoin rally meets weak sentiment

Bitcoin enters September with bearish positioning and weakening market signals.

According to Santiment data, Bitcoin closed August nearly 25% higher than it opened; however, the sentiment did not follow suit. $BTC price climbed from roughly $64.7k to $78.3k, marking one of its strongest August performances.

And yet, Santiment’s Sentiment Balance averaged only +32, compared to +72 that was recorded in July, when Bitcoin traded at around $63k. So, in contrast to the strong rally, market participants remained rather bearish.

While this alone supports the ongoing “September trap” narrative, $ETH/$BTC is adding yet another layer to the setup. The pair closed the month above its 20-month moving average, which suggests that Ethereum could be gaining momentum against Bitcoin.

If this trend holds, Bitcoin dominance could come under further pressure, creating another headwind for $BTC in September.

    Source: X

With this in mind, the analyst’s Bitcoin short call makes more sense. Weaker on-chain data, negative sentiment and a stronger $ETH/$BTC setup point to more downside risks for $BTC.

So, could this positioning be an early signal that Bitcoin’s “September trap” is in play? As the chart above shows, bullish Augusts have often set the stage for a weaker September. Should this be a repeat performance, then $BTC could face another correction as the month progresses.

    Final Summary

    • Bitcoin rallied in August, but weak sentiment and on-chain data are raising downside risks.
    • With $ETH/$BTC gaining strength, $BTC could be heading into another “September trap.”
