MILAN — After a devastating crash just 13 seconds into her downhill run, Lindsey Vonn “sustained an injury” but is in stable condition, according to U.S. Ski & Snowboard.

Sunday’s women’s downhill emerged as the most anticipated event in these Olympics, mainly because of Vonn — first for her comeback from her 2019 retirement, then from the torn ACL she suffered a little over a week ago. But her Olympic dreams vanished almost immediately into her run on Sunday morning. Her pole and shoulder caught a gate near the top of the mountain, spinning her sideways and sending her tumbling off the course. Her skis dug into the snow, twisting both knees and leaving her prone and bent on the hillside. According to the Associated Press, Vonn’s mandatory air bag worn under her race suit did inflate. A helicopter arrived within 10 minutes to evacuate her from the course, and after about 20 minutes, the event continued.

Vonn was airlifted to Ca’ Foncello Hospital in Treviso. “In the afternoon, she underwent orthopedic surgery to stabilize the fracture sustained in her left leg,” the hospital said in a statement. She was initially taken to Cortina’s Codivilla Putti Hospital for immediate treatment, and later moved to Treviso.

Vonn’s teammate Breezy Johnson won gold, but the mood in Cortina in the wake of Vonn’s crash was somber.

Vonn, 41, came into the Olympics as one of Team USA’s biggest stars, thanks both to her longevity and her determination. She retired after the 2018 Olympics, betrayed by her body and unable to compete at a world-class level. But a 2024 partial knee replacement changed her entire future, allowing her to return to the slopes and work herself into Olympic shape.

She earned her way onto the U.S. team with an array of podium finishes and two World Cup victories. But just a week before the start of the Winter Olympics, Vonn ruptured her left ACL in Switzerland. She spoke at a press conference on Tuesday affirming her intention to compete, and posted respectable times in her two training runs.

The horrifying crash elicited reactions from peers and fans alike.

“It doesn’t change anything about her legacy,” said fellow American Jackie Wiles, who finished fourth. “She’s a fighter, and that’s the way that she’s going to go out and ski every time.”

Damian Lillard isn’t expected to play this season while recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon.

But he’ll return to a familiar spot at next week’s NBA All-Star festivities. The Portland Trail Blazers guard has been invited to participate in the 3-point contest. He’ll do so alongside Devin Booker (Suns), Kon Knueppel (Hornets), Tyrese Maxey (76ers), Donovan Mitchell (Cavaliers), Jamal Murray (Nuggets), Bobby Portis Jr. (Bucks) and Norman Powell (Heat).

The NBA announced the competitors on Sunday. The 3-point contest will take place next Saturday at the Intuit Dome, home of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Lillard, a nine-time All-Star, has won the 3-point contest twice. He’ll seek to tie the record of three 3-point contests wins held by Larry Bird and Craig Hodges, who combined to win six of the first seven 3-point contests.

Lillard ruptured his left Achilles tendon last postseason while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks. During the offseason, he signed a three-year contract to return to the Trail Blazers with whom he played his first 11 NBA seasons, making seven All-Star teams.

Lillard, 35, is planning to sit the entire 2025-26 season to recover from his injury and return to the Portland lineup next season. He’s feeling well enough to compete next week and provided an update on his recovery to the “Road Trippin’ Show” last week.

“It’s going great,” Lillard said, per NBC Sports. “I think it’s just one of those injuries where you’ve got to take your time — you know, it takes what it takes. The first couple of weeks to maybe two or three months is kind of frustrating because you’re so limited.

“But with patience, giving yourself grace, and doing the things necessary to continue progressing, you get to a point where you start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

Lillard previously won the 3-point contest in 2018 and is the only competitor other than Booker with a win.

North Dakota State University football is heading to the Mountain West in 2026. The school will reportedly shell out roughly $17 million in total to move to a new conference next season, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

The move, which is expected to be announced Monday, will move NDSU out of the Missouri Valley Conference, where the team has played since 2008.

The move will be costly. NDSU will reportedly pay $12 million to join the Mountain West. In addition to that, the school will pay $5 million to the NCAA to move to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).

The move was expected, as Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger reported Friday that the two sides were inching closer to a deal. NDSU and the Mountain West have been in talks for over a year.

There’s a reason for that, as NDSU has won 10 of the past 15 national championships at the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level. The school has won 90 percent of its games and 10 conference titles in the Missouri Valley Conference since 2011. It has nothing more to prove at the FCS level.

Team athletic director Matt Larsen said as much on the “Hot Mic with Dom Izzo” podcast in January, saying the school wanted to play at “the highest level,” and added that it would “absolutely explore” that opportunity if it was a realistic option.

NDSU joining the Mountain West would give the conference 10 football teams for 2026. NDSU would join Air Force, UNLV, Nevada, New Mexico, San Jose State, Wyoming and other new full members Hawaii, Northern Illinois and UTEP. Hawaii, Northern Illinois and UTEP will join also join the conference in 2026.

Notably, the move will reportedly only apply to NDSU’s football program. The other sports at the school will presumably remain in their current conferences. Most sports at NDSU play in the Missouri Valley Conference, though its wrestling program competes in the Big 12. NDSU won’t be the only school to split up its athletics in the Mountain West. Northern Illinois has a similar agreement, in which only its football and women’s gymnastics teams will move into the Mountain West next year.

MILAN — Ilia Malinin had just landed a backflip, a trick that fires up a crowd like few other elements in skating. He landed, and looked into the crowd, and there was Novak Djokovic, the tennis GOAT, celebrating as loud as everyone else in the arena.

“He was standing there, hands on his head,” an exhausted, exuberant Malinin said, a gold medal around his neck. “I was like, Oh, my God, you know,? That’s incredible. That’s like a one in a lifetime moment, just seeing a famous tennis player watching my performance. I’m absolutely blown away.”

It was that kind of night for the Americans, a night when everything needed to go exactly right for the United States to defend its team figure skating gold. And everything did, with no margin for error. Amber Glenn’s Olympic debut, a barrage of quads from Ilia Malinin, and the finest-ever skate from pairs duo Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea all combined to give the United States the gold medal over Japan. Italy claimed bronze in a remarkably close competition.

The United States came into the evening with a five-point lead on Japan, but that lead quickly narrowed after the pairs program. Kam and O’Shea, ranked fifth among pairs after the short program, skated the routine of their lives, exulting in joy on the ice afterward.

“It felt like a performance of a lifetime,” Kam said afterward, still almost vibrating with joy. “It’s certainly our personal best, and to put it out on a stage like this as a team, it feels amazing.”

But even that performance was only good enough to earn a 135.36 and move the pair up into fourth place. A magnificent performance from Japan’s Ruku Miura and Ryuichi Khara earned a 155.55, won the pairs free skate event for Japan, and closed the gap with the United States to just two points with two events remaining.

Thus, the battle for the gold medal effectively became a math problem between the United States and Japan. That meant Team USA’s Amber Glenn, in her Olympic debut, needed to keep pace with Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto, a two-time Olympian and two-time medalist.

Glenn, one of the fastest and strongest skaters in the Olympics, began her routine with a difficult triple-axel that she barely landed, finishing with a tiny skid. Concern evident on her face, she missed an early combination and closed out a routine that was more powerful than precise. And when she completed her routine, she remained briefly on her knees, shaking her head in frustration.

“I just physically didn’t feel great. My legs were feeling heavy, I was tired, I just didn’t feel my best,” a visibly weary Glenn said after her skate. “I’ve been practicing here incredibly, I’ve been feeling really good, and I think  I just had some fatigue. I need to really manage that going into the individual event.”

Glenn grimaced as she was given a score of 138.62, knowing that the math wasn’t in her favor. She fell to third place after Sakamoto’s brilliant skate of 148.62, and the competition came down to the men’s competition with Japan and the United States tied at 59 points apiece. Further down the standings, Italy stood at 52 points, Georgia at 50 and Canada at 47.

After Italy’s Matteo Rizzo skated a strong program to keep the other two nations at bay and clinch a bronze medal for Italy, the ice belonged to Malinin. The Quad God skated onto the ice with a planned program that included seven quad jumps, including a never-before-done-in-the-Olympics quad axel. He started fourth of the five men’s skaters, a result of finishing in second in Saturday’s short program.

Malinin’s short program on Saturday night was uncharacteristically awkward. Sunday’ night’s free skate, by contrast, began with a perfectly executed quad flip. But his planned quad axel turned into a triple axel, and he threw in one of his traditional backflips for some more style. Again, it wasn’t quite up to his standards, scoring 200.03, but would it be enough against Japan’s Shun Sato?

Barely. Sato skated the routine of his life, but ended up just a few points short of Malinin, finishing with a 194.86 that kept the audience on edge right until the score was announced. Once the United States claimed gold, the celebrations began in the American box, and in the stands, and on the medal stand, and then on into the Milan night.

The Super Bowl LX matchup has been set, and the Seattle Seahawks are favored over the New England Patriots. The game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 8, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, and will draw the most betting action in a single day in American sports this year.

It’s the most unlikely Super Bowl matchup in at least 50 years, as the Seahawks (60-1 preseason at BetMGM) and Patriots (80-1) were both long shots to win the big game. Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (+115) is the favorite to win Super Bowl LX MVP at sportsbooks.

4:50 p.m. ET: Another seven-figure wager on the Super Bowl just came in at BetMGM, this one on the Patriots. A bettor wagered $1 million on Patriots +4.5 at -105 odds, which would win a little over $952,000 if Drake Maye & Co. can win or keep the game within four points.

4:15 p.m. ET: A couple interesting wagers have come in over the past few hours, most notably a two-leg $280,000 parlay at Hard Rock Bet that would pay a little over $1.62 million. The bettor wagered on:

• Patriots team total over 20.5 points

We also saw a $315,000 wager on the Patriots money line at +205 odds come in at Station Casinos in Las Vegas. Most sportsbooks are still rooting for a Seattle win, but New England cover.

“We’ve seen a couple six-figure wagers on Seattle -4.5,” Thomas Gable, sportsbook director at The Borgata in Atlantic City told Yahoo Sports on Sunday afternoon. “We will need New England to cover. A boring, defensive game would be great for props.”

1:30 p.m. ET: Seattle wide receiver Cooper Kupp is the biggest liability to win Super Bowl LX MVP at several sportsbooks, including BetMGM, where he is down to 66-1 after having 250-1 odds to win the award heading into the NFC championship game. Kupp had 4.7% of the wagers and 3.2% of the total dollars wagered in the MVP market, as of Sunday morning.

“Our largest liability [to win Super Bowl LX MVP] comes from Super Bowl 53 MVP winner Cooper Kupp, with punters backing him to repeat his heroics this year,” Neil Walsh, SVP of sportsbook at Hard Rock Bet, said.

11 a.m. ET: The betting public and larger wagers continue to flow in on the Seahawks at most sportsbooks across the country, as we count down to kickoff of Super Bowl LX. At the Score Bet, DraftKings and BetMGM, roughly 60% of the wagers are on Seattle -4.5, along with 60% of the money. Some New England money has come in at BetMGM, as only 51% of the total dollars wagered on the spread are on the Seahawks — a lower number than several books.

Some big wagers came in on Saturday on the Seahawks, including a $152,000 wager on the Seahawks money line at -230 odds at Caesars and a $250,000 wager on the Seahawks money line at -230 odds at Hard Rock Bet.

“We are definitely New England fans,” John Murray, Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook sports and race director told Yahoo Sports.

One bettor at Caesars also put down an interesting wager: $142,000 on an alternate line of Patriots +14.5 at -526 odds. The wager would win nearly $27,000 if New England can keep the game within two touchdowns.

Friday, Feb. 6

The coin toss one of the simplest wagers that any bettor can make on the Super Bowl — and one of the earliest to be determined every year. Despite thousands of ways to bet the big game now available at sportsbooks, the coin toss always is one of the prop bets with the most overall handle.

And one bettor is hoping that tails never fails.

A bettor at Caesars in Iowa wagered $100,000 on tails at -103 odds, which is the largest bet to date on the coin toss.

Tails has come up 31 times to heads’ 28 in the 59 Super Bowls so far.

Wednesday, Feb. 4

The first seven-figure wager has come in on the Seattle Seahawks to win Super Bowl LX — and it’s for a good cause.

Dan Newlin, a Florida attorney, announced that he wagered $1 million on the Seahawks ML at -230 odds at Hard Rock Bet to benefit pediatric cancer research. He came up with the idea as “a way of leveraging America’s love of sports betting to support a good cause.”

Newlin will donate any winnings from the wager to Nemours Children’s Hospital to help support research, and per a press release, will also continue to make donations “regardless of the outcome of this wager.”

Hard Rock Bet did not move the line after the wager and told Yahoo Sports that the sportsbook has about 70% of the handle on the money line on Seattle.

Tuesday, Feb. 3

The Super Bowl LX spread remains relatively unchanged, with most of the market still at Seattle -4.5, but there has been a little more movement on the total — a few sportsbooks in Vegas are down to 45.

“Currently, we need the Patriots and the under, but most of the money is still to come,” Halvor Egeland, BetMGM trading strategy manager told Yahoo Sports. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re in a position on Sunday where we’ll want the Seahawks money line but a Patriots cover as our best result.”

We’ve also seen some long-shot wagers come in for Super Bowl LX MVP, including two at BetRivers on kickers. One bettor wagered $1,000 on Patriots kicker Andres Borregales to win MVP at 300-1 odds, which would win a staggering $310,000. A $1,000 wager on Seahawks kicker Jason Myers at 100-1 (to win $100,000) was also placed at BetRivers.

A kicker has never won Super Bowl MVP.

One other interesting Super Bowl MVP bet at BetRivers: $4,630 on Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson to win Super Bowl MVP at 28-1 odds for a potential win of $129,640.

Super Bowl LX is still a week away, but the early action from the betting public is clearly in favor of the Seahawks. The line has settled at Seahawks -4.5 at most books, with a few out in Vegas sitting Seahawks -5. At theScore Bet, 69% of wagers and nearly 75% of the handle has come in on Seattle to cover the 4.5-point spread, and those betting splits are similar at other books as well.

“It’s been heavy traffic on the Seahawks in pretty much all markets,” Adrian Horton, senior director of North American sports trading at theScore Bet, said in a statement. “Not just spread and money line, but at the top of all our TD scorer and player prop markets too. Coming off of the conference championships, bettors are clearly backing Seattle to have a big day.”

The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook released its annual Super Bowl prop packet on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. PT, lighting up the odds screen with hundreds of ways to wager on the big game. Some of the sharpest prop bettors in the country line up for the chance to bet $2,000 a pop on a prop before moving to the back of the line and doing it all over again.

It’s early, but the betting public continues to wager on the Seahawks to cover in Super Bowl LX. In the biggest event of the year, bettors are pulling for the Seahawks while the book hopes for a low-scoring affair with minimal touchdowns,” Christian Cipollini, a BetMGM trading manager, said in a release. “While there’s still some time before the game, it looks like the game and futures market will be rewarding to bettors if the Seahawks cover the game and win outright.”

Wednesday, Jan. 28

The largest reported futures wager (by total bet amount) now belongs to Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale, the Houston furniture salesman known for placing large sports wagers tied to promotions for his Gallery Furniture store.

Mattress Mack wagered $2 million on the AFC to win Super Bowl 60 at +200 odds last week at Caesars Sportsbook before the AFC and NFC championship games were played. The wager was first reported by ESPN and confirmed to Yahoo Sports by the sportsbook.

The wager now is effectively a bet on the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl at +200 odds, and would win $4 million.

According to ESPN’s David Purdum, Mattress Mack is also running a promotion with his store in which customers who spend $4,000 will get their money back if the Patriots win Super Bowl 60.

There were no reported $1 million wagers at legal U.S. sportsbooks on last year’s Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, but this is the second reported seven-figure wager — and both have come on the underdog Patriots.

Bettors are loading up on the under for Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III, as Walker’s rushing yards prop is the most-bet prop by total wagers among all Super Bowl LX prop bets at BetMGM. Walker’s total rushing yards has decreased from an opener of 78.5 yards down to 73.5, and over 95% of the wagers and money wagered are on the under.

Walker had 19 carries in both of Seattle’s playoff games, and went over this total (116 yards) against San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round and under this total (62 yards) against the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC championship game.

Seattle WR Jaxson Smith-Njigba (-115) is the most popular player to score a touchdown, followed by the Seahawks special teams/defense (+380) at BetMGM.

Legal Sports Report released its annual projection of Super Bowl wagering at legal U.S. sportsbooks, estimating that $1.71 billion will be wagered on the big game across 41 states and territories — an estimated 10.3% increase in handle from last year.

“This year’s big game will continue the streak of record Super Bowl handle for the regulated U.S. market,” LSR analyst Eric Ramsey said in a press release. “Missouri’s recent launch pads an already favorable outlook for a weekend that serves as the single biggest opportunity of the year for legal sportsbooks and bettors alike.”

Monday, Jan. 26

The first seven-figure Super Bowl LX wager came in at Circa Sports in Nevada, as sportsbook director Jeff Benson reported a bettor had wagered $1.1 million on the New England Patriots money line at +188 odds, and that the wager would win roughly $2.1 million.

Sunday, Jan. 25

The Seahawks were 3.5-point favorites against the Patriots in lookahead lines at sportsbooks, but the Super Bowl LX line opened anywhere from -3.5 to -5 at sportsbooks, and the early betting was mostly on Seattle. The total went from 46.5 down to 46.

“We opened Seahawks -4 and a total of 46.5, and we’ve been getting one-way action on Seattle,” Jeff Sherman, vice president of risk at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, said in text message Sunday night. “We’re at -4.5 now.”

Notable futures wagers

• Back in August 2025, as first reported by Yahoo Sports, a bettor at BetMGM wagered $150,000 on three Seattle Seahawks futures bets:

  • $50,000 on the Seahawks to win Super Bowl 60 at 60-1 odds to win $3 million

  • $50,000 on the Seahawks to win NFC at 28-1 odds to win $1.4 million

  • $50,000 on the Seahawks to make playoffs at +185 odds to win $92,500

Yahoo Sports also reported Circa Sports in Nevada took two sizable wagers at 75-1 odds on the Seahawks to win Super Bowl 60, both with “seven-figure liability” in late August from a new customer as well. Seattle is the sportsbook’s worst futures outcome as a result.

• A bettor at Circa also had quite the lottery ticket wager before the season, placing a $100 wager on Aug. 25 on an exact Super Bowl result of the Patriots to defeat the Seahawks at 3,100-1 odds. The wager would win $310,000 if Drake Maye and Co. are victorious.

• The largest reported futures wager at U.S. sportsbooks on the Patriots was at DraftKings where Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy wagered $50,000 on New England at 35-1 odds back sometime in October 2025. The wager would win $1.75 million.

• Another bettor at DraftKings was a very early believer, wagering $10,000 on New England to win Super Bowl LX at 80-1 odds all the way back on Jan. 21, 2025. The bet would win $800,000.

• Mattress Mack placed a $2 million wager on the AFC to win Super Bowl 60 at +200 odds at Caesars Sportsbook before the championship games were played. The bet would win $4 million if the Patriots beat the Seahawks.

Sunday brought both heartbreak and elation for Team USA athletes.

Lindsey Vonn crashed out of the Olympics with a serious injury while her teammate Breezy Johnson secured gold in the same competition.

USA figure skaters, meanwhile secured a dramatic team victory in a competition that was tied with Japan heading into the final round. And a USA curling team has advanced to face a shot at a medal on Monday.

1. Devastating end to Lindsey Vonn’s Olympics

Lindsey Vonn’s 2026 Olympics and almost certainly her Olympics career came to a heartbreaking end on Sunday when she crashed out of the competition 13 seconds into her run in the women’s alpine downhill.

Vonn suffered a fracture in her left leg and had to be airlifted off the mountain. She had surgery to repair the fracture and was listed in stable condition later Sunday.

Vonn was competing on a torn ACL in her left knee that she sustained on Jan. 31 in Switzerland. She moved forward to compete despite the ACL tear and had successful training runs on her injured knee prior to Sunday’s Olympic final.

Vonn, 41, competed through the ACL tear in what is widely expected to be her final Olympics. If so, she’ll finish her Olympics career with one gold medal (2010, Vancouver) and two bronze (Vancouver, Pyeongchang 2018).

2. USA edges Japan for gold in dramatic team figure skating competition

Team USA secured its second medal of the Games with a gold in the team figure skating in Sunday’s final event. USA came out of Saturday’s Day 1 with a five-point lead, but entered Sunday’s men’s free skate — the final portion of the contest — tied with Japan in first place.

Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto won the women’s free skate, while American Amber Glenn finished third to put the two teams into a first-place tie with 59 points each heading into the men’s free skate.

There, Ilia Malinin’s 200.03 edged Shun Sato’s 194.86 to ensure gold for Team USA with 69 points for a second straight Olympics. Japan won silver with 68 points, while host Italy secured bronze with 60.

The American medal count now sits at two after the second full day of competition. Host Italy leads the way with nine total medals, while Norway is the only nation other than the US. with multiple golds so far with three.

3. Breezy Johnson wins gold, then breaks it

Breezy Johnson secured the first U.S. medal of the Games with gold in the same women’s alpine downhill skiing competition in which Vonn was injured.

She secured the victory with a time of 1:36.10, edging Germany’s silver medalist, Emma Aicher who finished in 1:36.14. Italy’s Sofia Goggia secured bronze.

Sadly for Johnson, her medal broke into three pieces when the ribbon holding it around her neck broke as she celebrated.

“Well, I was jumping up and down in excitement, and it fell off,” Johnson told reporters. “I think that’s maybe why it broke.”

It’s not clear yet if she’ll receive a replacement medal.

4. U.S. curling team advances to medal round

Sunday was a good day for the U.S mixed doubles curling tandem of Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin.

The pair defeated Estonia’s Estonia’s Marie Kaldvee and Harri Lill, 5-3 and then beat Sweden’s Isabella and Rasmus Wranaa, 8-7, in a dramatic match that was tied at 7-7 heading into the final frame.

With the wins, USA improved to 6-2 in round-robin play to advance to the four-team knockout round with Great Britain (8-1), Italy (5-3) and Sweden (5-3). Three of those four teams will secure medals.

Team USA has one more round-robin match against Italy on Monday, but each team’s place in the medal round is secure. The medal round is scheduled to start Monday at 12:05 p.m. ET.

5. Frigid shirtless celebration

Even Pita Taufatofua — aka the shirtless Tongan — wore a shirt at Friday’s Opening Ceremony.

But when Austria’s Benjamin Karl won his second career Olympic gold medal Sunday in men’s parallel giant snowboard slalom, it was time to strip down, no matter the conditions.

Karl stripped off several layers and let out a primal scream into the camera after securing his victory.

Karl then laid down face first in the snow — still sans shirt — to continue his celebration.

These athletes love the snow.

Hideki Matsuyama fell apart at the worst time on Sunday afternoon.

Matsuyama entered the final hole at TPC Scottsdale with a one-shot lead, but struggled off the tee twice to hand the Waste Management Phoenix Open to Chris Gotterup. Gotterup won the event in a playoff, thanks to a ridiculously long birdie putt on the first hole.

Matsuyama posted a 3-under 68 on Saturday to grab a one-shot lead entering the final day. Scottie Scheffler, however, was lurking. After a rough first round, the top-ranked golfer in the world got back within five shots of Matsuyama after his 4-under 67 on Moving Day. Scheffler then fired a bogey-free 64 on Sunday, which briefly got him within just a shot of the lead when he hit the clubhouse. He even drained a putt from more than 70 feet away off the green for birdie on the 14th during his charge.

But it looked like Matsuyama had plenty of time to pad his lead. He birdied the par-5 13th after reaching the green in two, and then he stuck his approach on the par-5 15th within just a few feet of the cup for a second easy birdie. Matsuyama fumbled and bogeyed the 18th after he got stuck in a fairway bunker, though, which set up the playoff with Gotterup.

Matsuyama then landed his tee shot just barely in play near the water on the left side of the fairway on the first playoff hole when he went to play the 18th again, which paved the way for Gotterup to grab the win. Gotterup played the hole perfectly, landing his drive in the fairway before grabbing the birdie to pick up the win.

The win is Gotterup’s fourth of his career, and his second already this season. He won the Sony Open in Hawaii to open the 2026 campaign last month.

Akshay Bhatia, Si Woo Kim, Michael Thorbjornsen and Nicolai Højgaard joined Scheffler in third, one shot behind Gotterup.

The Super Bowl coin toss is one of the most famous prop bets, and one that always receives a ton of action from the betting public. Head or tails? It’s a 50-50 proposition and one of the first bets to cash every year.

It also attracts some wagers from bettors with money burning a hole in their pocket.

A bettor at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas dropped $253,000 on the coin toss to be heads at -103 odds — the largest reported wager on the coin toss, and one of the bigger reported six-figure wagers on the game at sportsbooks.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Cooper Kupp called tails, San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame QB Joe Montana flipped the coin and it landed on heads — making this bettor more than $245,000 richer.

Earlier in the week, a bettor at Caesars in Iowa wagered $100,000 on tails.

The Seahawks closed as 4.5-point favorites against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60.
