Ondo Finance, a platform for tokenized real-world assets, has launched the first custodial solution for tokenized U.S. securities that operates fully within the existing U.S. regulatory framework. The project was developed together with Broadridge Financial Solutions, a financial technology company providing investor communication and governance services.
The first tokenized assets are shares of the BlackRock iShares Core S&P 500 (IVV) ETF and Micron stock. The underlying securities remain with regulated custodians in the traditional financial system, while matching tokens backed 1:1 by those shares are issued on the Ethereum blockchain.
Token holders receive the same rights as regular shareholders. They can access corporate communications and vote on shareholder matters through Broadridge’s ProxyVote platform. Transfers are managed by regulated brokers, transfer agents, and custodians to ensure compliance with existing U.S. securities rules.
