The 38-year-old Conley spent the last 3 1/2 seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves and also played for the Utah Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies. Last season, Conley averaged 4.5 ppg, 1.7 rpg and 2.9 apg as his role diminished in favor of youngsters Ayo Dosunmu and Bones Hyland.
Conley’s departure was also expected after the Timberwolves swung a reported blockbuster trade to acquire All-Star guard LaMelo Ball from the Charlotte Hornets. The Wolves also reportedly agreed to a deal with Dosunmu early in free agency and parted with Julius Randle in another reported trade.
In Boston, Conley joins a backcourt that includes All-Stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum as well as key reserves Derrick White, Payton Pritchard and Ron Harper Jr.
