Texas Tech is reloading following a breakout 12-2 campaign that concluded with a Big 12 title and a berth in the College Football Playoff.
Per multiple reports, former Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby committed to Texas Tech Sunday night. Sorsby was the No. 3 quarterback and No. 7 player overall in the transfer portal per On3 rankings and is rated as the portal’s No. 1 quarterback by multiple outlets.

Sorsby chose Texas Tech over LSU and first-year head coach Lane Kiffin. He reportedly made the decision after a weekend of visits with both programs. Sorsby joins an incoming transfer class at Texas Tech that On3 had ranked No. 1 as of Sunday night ahead of No. 2 LSU.
Texas Tech and Sorsby have agreed to an NIL deal worth around $5 million for next season, On3 reported. Sorsby called Tech booster Cody Campbell and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, a Tech alum, to tell them he was coming, according to On3.
A rising senior, Sorsby will be playing for his third program after two seasons as a starter at Cincinnati and one at Indiana. In 2025, Sorsby completed 61.6% of his passes for 2,800 yards with 27 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. A dual threat, he added 580 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. He was a second-team All Big-12 selection.
Sorsby will enter the 2026 projected as one of the nation’s top quarterbacks and have the chance to lead Texas Tech to compete for another Big 12 championship and berth in the CFP.

While LSU missed out on Sorsby, Kiffin has a shot at landing another top quarterback in the portal. Per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Arizona State transfer Sam Leavitt — the No. 1 portal QB per On3 — will visit LSU on Monday.
