A team of researchers believe they may have found charred remnants of Noah’s Ark almost 30-feet underground.
According to the Bible, the vast vessel was used to shelter Noah, his family and pairs of each land animal from a catastrophic flood thousands of years ago.
Now, a team of researchers – known as Noah’s Ark Scans – say they think they may have uncovered evidence of the ship.
Last month, the team began drilling at the Durupınar formation, a boat-shaped mound in eastern Türkiye, located about 29 kilometres south of Mount Ararat.
The team say the Durupınar formation measures around 157-metres long and is a ship-shaped structure that ‘perfectly matches the biblical description of Noah’s Ark found in Genesis 6’.
The site was initially discovered back in 1959 and has long-fascinated Noah’s Ark hunters who think its close proximity to biblical events and shape mean it could be the real deal.

Researchers think a formation found in eastern Türkiye could be the remains of Noah’s Ark (SWNS)
As part of their exploration, Noah’s Ark Scans has enlisted the help of architectural mapping company FieldTech to create the scale model ‘of the Ark as it currently rests,’ based on ground-penetrating radar data taken at the site.
FieldTech said in a social media post: “The red bubbles represents the voids below ground, which were determined with geophysical analysis.
They added: “We represent only scientific outputs here, which are only precise topography that we scanned, and geophysical results.”
Andrew Jones, vice-president of the Noah’s Ark Scans project, has now told the Daily Mail that they had uncovered both charred and uncharred wood that had been recovered nearly 30 feet underground, adding that ‘it is possible that we have found the charred remains of Noah’s Ark’.
However, Jones went on to say that the wood could be the remains of a campfire started by a shepherd who had sheltered inside the ark hundreds of years ago.

They made a 3D-printed version of the formation (SWNS)
The team have said that the burning may have helped preserve the wood, as charring can slow its breakdown in soil.
Although the team remain hopeful they’re on the verge of a groundbreaking discovery, many
geologists maintain that the Durupınar formation is a natural geological feature rather than the remains of a vessel.
However, Jones has previously claimed that he believes that there are clear signs the structure is man-made.
Speaking to GB News last month, Jones said: “So these are patterns of anomalies that if this was this random rock in soil, would not show like a man-made structure.
“But because the radar is showing this pattern, we’re then believing that there’s more to just the shape above ground.

“There’s actually structure below the ground.”
He also claimed that the dimensions of the shape match what the Bible says.
“When the site was first discovered in 1959, the reason why it got the attention of the world was because it was a boat shape that was 300 Egyptian cubits long,” he explained.
“Now, in the biblical account that matches the length given in the Bible. And when you take the average width inside the boat, it is approximately the 50 cubits mentioned in the Bible too.
“So here we have the length and the width of a boat shape in the mountains of Arat, where Genesis 8:4 says, the ark landed.”
