In an assessment published on October 13, blockchain security company ChainSecurity pointed out that the combined implementation of EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 proposals could pose some technical risks.
According to the company, the simultaneous implementation of the two Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) could alter error handling outcomes in the event of gas resource depletion during calls between smart contracts.
This situation may cause existing smart contracts to react differently than previously anticipated under certain conditions.
Ethereum developers have chosen to revise the upgrade schedule to allow for a more detailed assessment of potential issues during the testnet phase.
No new date has yet been announced for the rollout of the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi test network.
The decision to postpone doesn’t mean the upgrade has been cancelled entirely. Current statements indicate that developers aim to dedicate more time to security reviews before rollout.
In the Ethereum ecosystem, network upgrades are important not only for implementing new technical features but also for maintaining compatibility with existing smart contracts.
An updated schedule for Glasgow is expected to be announced following security assessments. However, no definitive information has yet been shared regarding the new testing dates or when the reviews will be completed.
