Prince Harry asks himself the same question about his mother, Princess Diana, and claims that he ‘sometimes’ gets ‘a response’.

29 years after the late Princess of Wales had sadly passed away after being involved in a vehicle collision, her youngest son has opened up about how he remembers her.

Diana was just 36 years old when she died, had been travelling in a car with her partner Dodi Fayed and her head of security Henri Paul, as well as Dodi’s bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones on 31 August, 1997.

Paul had been driving the Mercedes vehicle at a high speed through the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris as the driver navigated escaping nine journalists behind them in their own car.

However, once Paul entered the tunnel, he lost control and crashed into a central column in the tunnel which killed both him and Fayed on impact.

Diana would later die of a cardiac arrest in hospital at around 4am.

Harry was 12 years old at the time, and has been candid about how her death impacted him.

In his interview with GQ – published yesterday (20 October), he revealed that he thinks about his mum ‘almost every day’ and what he asks her.

He explained: “I don’t go too deep. I don’t sit there-and I probably should—but I don’t sit there and go really deep into: ‘How am I feeling?’

“It’s just a quick sort of like, ‘Wow, miss you. Wonder what the world would be like if you were still here. Wonder what my family would be like if you were still here.’”

He added: “So there are questions that I ask myself. Sometimes there’s questions that I ask her, looking for some kind of response, and sometimes I do get a response.”

When asked about what type of response he gets back from his mum, Harry responded that it’s a kind of ‘energy’.

Harry added: “There is a connection still with my mum that I really do feel her energy at certain times and certain parts of my life.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Harry spoke about why he chose to return to the UK after vowing to never come back with wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Lilibet and Archie.

Harry said: “Opportunities for the family. Being able to put the kids in a British school has meant a lot to me. I didn’t know how important it was to me.

“They [Archie and Lilibet] are loving it, and it’s just giving them a whole different experience.”

He told the magazine: “To be back, closer to my family, and to be back on UK soil for longer than a few days or a week here or there”.

As for being back around his family and where his mum used to live – he said: “I love the fact that I’m able to now sort of carry the memory of my mother with me, with my work, rather than it hold me down, pull me back, or wallowing in that grief.”

However, he dispelled thoughts that he is searching for sympathy.

“I certainly don’t want any sympathy. That’s where we’re way past that. Why? Because I’m a prince. I’ve got a support network around me, I’ve done different forms of therapy, and I put in the work. I wonder where I would be if I didn’t – it could be a very different situation,” he said.
